Barack Obama Labels Mitt Romney a "Bullsh-tter" in Rolling Stone

Barack Obama is featured in the latest issue of Rolling Stone , and less than two weeks before the November 6 election, the President opens up to the publication with some choice words for Mitt Romney. Foremost among them? “You know, kids have good instincts,” Obama says about the young vote. “They look at the other guy and say, ‘ Well, that’s a bullsh***er , I can tell.’” Oh, it’s on! Okay, it’s been on for months now. But still. Strong words. Among other topics Obama touches on in his interview: Problems with the rich and poo r: There are a whole bunch of millionaires who aren’t paying any income tax, as well as people at the lower end of the income spectrum who may be taking advantage of the safety net we’ve put in place. We should hold everybody accountable who’s not doing their fair share. Standing up against your own party :  If you can’t say no to certain elements of your party, if you don’t have sets of principles that you’re willing to fight for, even if they’re not politically convenient, then you’re gonna have a tough time in this office. Roe vs. Wade in peril : I don’t think there’s any doubt. Governor Romney has made clear that’s his position. His running mate has made this one of the central principles of his public life. The future of his health care plan : Just like Medicare and Social Security, as time goes on, as people see what it does, as it gets refined and improved, people will say, ‘This was the last piece to our basic social compact’ – providing people with some core security from the financial burdens of an illness or bad luck. His first-term achievements : Sometimes folks obsess with gridlock and the ugliness of the process down here in Washington. We passed health care – something that presidents have tried to do for 100 years…We passed the toughest Wall Street reform since the 1930s… We have expanded access to college through the Pell Grant program and by keeping student loans low. The list of things that we’ve accomplished, even once the Republicans took over, is significant. What Romney should dress as for Halloween : I don’t know about this Halloween. Next Halloween I hope he’ll be an ex-presidential candidate. So, we ask again, THGers: Who are you voting for?   Obama-Biden Romney-Ryan View Poll »

George McGovern Dies; Former Presidential Candidate Was 90

George McGovern has died. The former presidential candidate and U.S. Senator was 90. McGovern passed away early Sunday at a hospice in Sioux Falls, S.D., his home state. Steve Hildebrand, a spokesman for the family, said in a statement to NBC News: “Our wonderful father, George McGovern passed away peacefully at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD, surrounded by our family and life-long friends. “We are blessed to know that our father lived a long, successful and productive life advocating for the hungry, being a progressive voice for millions and fighting for peace.” McGovern was a pilot in World War II who became an early critic of the Vietnam War and a leader of the Democrats’ liberal wing. He served in the Senate from 1963-1981. He ran for president three times, failing to win the Democratic nomination in 1968 and 1984. In 1972, he was the party’s candidate against incumbent Richard Nixon. He challenged Nixon on a platform opposing the war in Vietnam, but suffered one of the most lopsided defeats in history, winning only one state plus D.C. R.I.P.

Surprise: The Mormon-Loving Salt Lake City Tribune Officially Endorses President Barry-O Over Money Makin’ Mitt!

Mitt’s face must be crunchy… Salt Lake City Tribune Endorses Mitt Romeny Via Salt Lake City Tribune Nowhere has Mitt Romney’s pursuit of the presidency been more warmly welcomed or closely followed than here in Utah. The Republican nominee’s political and religious pedigrees, his adeptly bipartisan governorship of a Democratic state, and his head for business and the bottom line all inspire admiration and hope in our largely Mormon, Republican, business-friendly state. But it was Romney’s singular role in rescuing Utah’s organization of the 2002 Olympics from a cesspool of scandal, and his oversight of the most successful Winter Games on record, that make him the Beehive State’s favorite adopted son. After all, Romney managed to save the state from ignominy, turning the extravaganza into a showcase for the matchless landscapes, volunteerism and efficiency that told the world what is best and most beautiful about Utah and its people. In short, this is the Mitt Romney we knew, or thought we knew, as one of us. Sadly, it is not the only Romney, as his campaign for the White House has made abundantly clear, first in his servile courtship of the tea party in order to win the nomination, and now as the party’s shape-shifting nominee. From his embrace of the party’s radical right wing, to subsequent portrayals of himself as a moderate champion of the middle class, Romney has raised the most frequently asked question of the campaign: “Who is this guy, really, and what in the world does he truly believe?” The evidence suggests no clear answer, or at least one that would survive Romney’s next speech or sound bite. Politicians routinely tailor their words to suit an audience. Romney, though, is shameless, lavishing vastly diverse audiences with words, any words, they would trade their votes to hear. Wow, tough crowd… The newspaper then went on to make a pretty convincing case for why they support President Obama for another term. And what of the president Romney would replace? For four years, President Barack Obama has attempted, with varying degrees of success, to pull the nation out of its worst financial meltdown since the Great Depression, a deepening crisis he inherited the day he took office. In the first months of his presidency, Obama acted decisively to stimulate the economy. His leadership was essential to passage of the badly needed American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Though Republicans criticize the stimulus for failing to create jobs, it clearly helped stop the hemorrhaging of public sector jobs. The Utah Legislature used hundreds of millions in stimulus funds to plug holes in the state’s budget. The president also acted wisely to bail out the auto industry, which has since come roaring back. Romney, in so many words, said the carmakers should sink if they can’t swim. High praise for the POTUS. In considering which candidate to endorse, The Salt Lake Tribune editorial board had hoped that Romney would exhibit the same talents for organization, pragmatic problem-solving and inspired leadership that he displayed here more than a decade ago. Instead, we have watched him morph into a friend of the far right, then tack toward the center with breathtaking aplomb. Through a pair of presidential debates, Romney’s domestic agenda remains bereft of detail and worthy of mistrust. Therefore, our endorsement must go to the incumbent, a competent leader who, against tough odds, has guided the country through catastrophe and set a course that, while rocky, is pointing toward a brighter day. The president has earned a second term. Romney, in whatever guise, does not deserve a first. If Money Makin’ Mitt can’t even convince his own people (Mormons) to f**k with him, then he’s got a tough road ahead of him. Image via AP

Halle Berry Covers InStyle, Talks Matrimony-dom With French Boo And Says She Doesn’t Want Nahla Thinking She’s Special…

Sounds harsh, but don’t worry, she cleans it up. Halle Berry is stuntin’ on the cover of the November issue of InStyle Magazine and inside the bronze beauty chats about why she’s so pressed to move her precious Nahla to Paris and how she’s not really trippin’ about having a huge wedding with her French boo Olivier. Via People.com : Halle Berry is eager to marry Olivier Martinez, but for now, another matter is taking precedence – relocating the family, likely overseas, to shield her daughter from the spotlight. “I’m not sure where I am going to be living in the next few months, so I have to get that settled first,” the actress, 46, tells InStyle when asked by a reader about her wedding plans. The Oscar winner may well end up in France, where she and her French fiancé can give Berry’s 4-year-old daughter Nahla a quieter life, away from the pressures of Hollywood. “It’s the appeal of privacy and a greater sense of safety for Nahla,” the Oscar winner says. “I don’t want her to grow up around the tabloids. Because we are followed all the time, she is starting to feel like she is somehow special, and of course she is, but I want her to understand that she’s special because of who she is, not because she was born into this celebrity blender.” Berry has suffered through a tough custody battle with Nahla’s father, Gabriel Aubry. “There is turbulence, bit this too shall pass,” she tells InStyle. When the time is right to tie the knot again, Berry – twice divorced, from David Justice and Eric Benét – knows how she wants her wedding to be. “I do know it will be very small,” she says. “I haven’t been to many weddings, but I went to one this weekend with 250 guests. I thought, Wow – so this is a wedding, huh? I’ve never had that, nor have I wanted that. I wasn’t even trying to catch the bouquet!” Berry says Martinez is perfect for her. “He’s silly, a clown, and very much the life of the party, which is good for someone like me,” she says. “Danny Downer … been there, done that. Now I like Louie Lightfoot!” As for the whole idea of a third marriage, Berry admits: “It’s another one of those never-say-never things. I’m a hopeless romantic, and I won’t stop till I get it right.” We sure hope she gets it right this time! Do you think Halle is right to shield Nahla from growing up in the spotlight or do you think she makes it worse by overreacting? Madonna has raised her kids both in the U.S. and in London and people always say that they’re really well adjusted. How much is the media to blame for Nahla’s attitude and how much do you think Halle could be doing to keep things under control? Photo Credit: InStyle/Giampaolo Sgura

Christiane Seidel for Boardwalk Empire of the Day

Big moves for Christiane Seidel….this is her big break…and it involves her getting naked…but the real question is how naked did she have to get the opportunity to get naked on TV…her IMDB reads like the back of a cocktail napkin…a few smeared credits that may seem substantial to non actors at the party…”oh wow, you were on an episode of Law & Order, I watch that show sometimes”….but that are in fact totally irrelevant….meaning making this naked on TV shit come true took some hustle…and now she can be proud the world or at least the part of the world that watches Boardwalk Empire has seen her tits….I hear it is a lasting performance that won’t be forgotten….and really I just like naked on TV….cuz long gone are the days of jerking off to Thighmaster infomercials and that’s a good thing….

Ain’t Isht Bolitics: Desperate Romney GOP Folk Attacking Obama’s Mother Claiming This Guy Is Obama’s Real Dad

Tea Party Members Drag Obama’s Mother In Smear Campaign SMH. These folks have now reached an all time low in the Obama smear campaign…. Via The Daily Beast: For a while now, pictures purporting to show Obama’s mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, modeling in 1950s bondage and fetish porn have been floating around the darker corners of the Internet. Now, though, they’ve made their way into a pseudo-documentary, Joel Gilbert’s Dreams From My Real Father, which is being mailed to voters in swing states, promoted by several Tea Party groups and by at least one high-level Republican. At the same time, Dinesh D’Souza’s latest book, Obama’s America—the first of all his works to hit the top spot on The New York Times bestseller list—has a chapter essentially calling Dunham a fat slore. If Obama is reelected, it’s hard to imagine where the right goes from here. It’s tempting to ignore Dreams From My Real Father because it’s so preposterous. The movie claims that Obama’s actual father was the poet and left-wing activist Frank Marshall Davis, who Dunham met through her father, who was a CIA agent merely posing as a furniture salesman. “My election was not a sudden political phenomenon,” says the narrator, speaking as if he were Obama reading his autobiography. “It was the culmination of an American socialist movement that my real father, Frank Marshall Davis, nurtured in Chicago and Hawaii, and has been quietly infiltrating the U.S. economy, universities, and media for decades.” D’Souza argues that part of the reason Ann Dunham sent Obama to live with her parents in Hawaii was so she could pursue affairs with Indonesian men. “Ann’s sexual adventuring may seem a little surprising in view of the fact that she was a large woman who kept getting larger,” he writes. On the next page, he continues, “Learning about Ann’s sexual adventures in Indonesia, I realized how wrong I had been to consider Barack Obama Sr. the playboy … Ann … was the real playgirl, and despite all her reservations about power, she was using her American background and economic and social power to purchase the romantic attention of third-world men.” Wow. Really?? SMH at these clowns.
