Robert Pattinson Beds Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas and More in Bel Ami Trailer

Exciting news, world. Robert Pattinson has advanced from respectfully romancing teen virgins onscreen to defiling wealthy, middle-aged wives (played by Oscar-nominated actresses, no less) in pursuit of upward mobility. Or wealth. Or maybe just acceptance as a serious actor. (Look at him in a period piece with Kristen Scott Thomas!) Either way, jump ahead to see our little Edward Cullen mature into a scheming, sexing cad in the trailer for Bel Ami .

Robert Pattinson Gushes Over "Sexy Goddess" Kristen Stewart

It’s difficult to get Robert Pattinson to talk about Kristen Stewart in detail, even though the actress finally came out and admitted the two were dating earlier this year. But get Pattinson out of the country, apparently, and all hesitance goes away. Just read what he told Brazilian magazine Capricho in a recent interview. “She’s ambitious,” Rob said of his costar on screen and in real life. “I like that obsessive determination she has to be herself. She’s amazing. She takes the things she says too seriously, kind of like the opposite of me.” And how did Pattinson think Stewart looked in her Breaking Dawn wedding dress? Like “a sexy goddess. She looked amazing.” AWWWW, no wonder these two just got married ! (NOT!)

Wiz Khalifa And Snoop Dogg’s ‘Mac & Devin’ Jams NY

Monday’s New York concert promotes ‘Mac & Devin Go to High School’ soundtrack, due December 13. By Rob Markman Wiz Khalifa Photo: MTV News Never mind that there’s almost a 20-year age difference between Wiz Khalifa and his big homey Snoop Dogg : On Monday night, the smoked-out duo stood on equal ground for the first time, as co-headliners at New York City’s Terminal 5. The Cali rap vet and MTV News’ Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010 were in the Big Apple to promote the soundtrack, set for release December 13, to their upcoming film, “Mac & Devin Go to High School.” After openers Chevy Woods and YG warmed up the crowd, Snoop walked out to his 2009 single “I Wanna Rock.” Dressed in all black, with black shades and two braids in his hair, Tha Doggfather shuffled across the stage flanked by three curvaceous female dancers, who started out in Adidas tracksuits but had stripped down to skimpy lingerie by the time Snoop performed Akon’s uncensored “I Wanna F— You,” three-quarters of the way through his set. Snoop’s half-hour solo portion of the show was filled with classics like Dr. Dre’s “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang” and “Next Episode” as well as his own “Bitch Please” and “Who Am I? (What’s My Name?)” Wiz emerged later to perform his newer rap favorites. Starting with “Cabin Fever,” Khalifa bounced across the stage chanting, “If you see her, point her out,” acknowledging all the “bad bitches” in the crowd. Most of Wiz’s performance was centered around mixtape material. The Taylors gave overwhelming approval and applause as Cap ran through “Gang Bang” and Kush & Orange Juice faves “Never Been” and “In the Cut.” A brief intermission followed, during which scenes from “Mac & Devin Go to High School” played on the venue’s big screen. Snoop and Wiz then returned, this time together, performing in tandem and passing joints to and fro. First up was “That Good,” the initial collaborative “Mac & Devin” leak, on which Snoop dubs the stoner duo “the new Cheech and Chong.” From there, the Dogg launched into his classic “Gin & Juice” while Khalifa served up some ad-libs. Wiz encouraged his young Taylors to show the elder Snoop love, while the Dogg asked the crowd to congratulate the Pittsburgh breakout on his recent Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance, and the audience happily obliged both requests. Though the two rocked solo songs like “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and “On My Level,” by the time Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa reached the show-closing “Young, Wild & Free,” their onstage chemistry was undeniable. Though there are a number of years between the two MCs, the duo proved that when it comes to rocking crowds, age ain’t nothing but a number. Have you seen Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa live? Robert Pattinson ‘Impressed’ Paul Giamatti In ‘Cosmopolis’

‘He’s a good judge of other actors,’ director David Cronenberg tells MTV News of RPattz co-star’s glowing review. By Kevin P. Sullivan, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon in “Cosmopolis” Photo: Caitlin Cronenberg’s Twitter Last month, when MTV News asked David Cronenberg about working with Robert Pattinson on his upcoming film “Cosmopolis,” the director put his feelings about the “Twilight” heartthrob simply: “He’s sensational.” Cronenberg said that “Twilight” fans would see Pattinson in a way they aren’t used to, since the role shares more in common with the actor’s lesser-known films like “Little Ashes” and “Remember Me.” When the director walked the red carpet last week at the Gotham Independent Film Awards in support of his film “A Dangerous Method,” he stopped to speak again with MTV News’ Josh Horowitz, revealing which scenes in particular were the most challenging for Pattinson. “Probably the last couple of days was where there was just a long, long, maybe 15-minute scene with Paul Giamatti , just the two of them in a couple of rooms,” Cronenberg said. In “Cosmopolis,” Pattinson plays Eric Packer, a young millionaire who just wants to get his hair cut. Things go awry when his limo gets stuck in traffic and a stalker, played by Giamatti, causes even more trouble. Cronenberg said that one of the biggest testaments to Pattinson’s skill as an actor was the effect he had on his Academy Award-nominated co-star. “They were both brilliant, and Paul was really impressed,” he said. “If Paul’s impressed, he’s a good judge of other actors, and he said so publicly.” The director is simultaneously promoting “A Dangerous Method” and putting the finishing touches on “Cosmopolis.” Cronenberg said that juggling both has never been an issue: “I’ve edited ‘Cosmopolis,’ and I’m about to go to Paris next week to do the sound mix of it, but I can switch over. It’s like having two kids. When one kid comes through the door, you’re there for that kid.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Cosmopolis.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

‘X Factor’ Judge Simon Cowell ‘Pretty Cool’ To Astro

‘Simon knows what he’s talking about,’ former contestant tells MTV News. By Rob Markman Astro Photo: MTV News In a rare moment of self-examination, the typically unwavering Simon Cowell admitted he was wrong. When hip-hop whiz kid Astro refused to perform for his life after being placed in the bottom two during the November 17 episode of “X Factor,” Cowell tore into the 15-year-old MC. But Astro, who was eventually eliminated from the competition weeks later, isn’t holding any grudges. Actually, he thinks Simon — who later admitted he felt “a bit” bad for Astro — is a pretty cool guy overall. “Simon knows what he’s talking about. Everybody has different opinions, so I’m not always 100 percent agreeing with Simon, but it is what it is,” he told MTV News on Monday before giving the reality-show judge his props. “I don’t think he’s a jerk like they portray him on TV; he’s actually pretty cool.” Throughout his run on “X Factor,” the Brooklyn rapper was criticized for his confident and at-times cocky attitude. Still, he isn’t too concerned with what others think. “Everybody has different opinions,” he said. “You can’t really control what this person thinks of your performance or what that person thinks.” A clear standout in the competition, Astro did hit bumps in the road. During the November 17 elimination show, after Cowell came down on the Astronomical Kid, things got tense. “I gotta say, on the night, I was really annoyed, and not for anything else other than for him,” Cowell told MTV News. “And then I watched it back that night, and then I felt sorry for him.” Astro did live to see another day but was eventually eliminated on the November 30 show. Now, the teenage MC is looking forward to completing his mixtape and hopefully signing a deal eventually. “I just want to be in a place where I’m comfortable 100 percent. I just want to be able to release my music, do my movies [and] everything is fair,” he said of his dream deal. “I just want to be able to have fun doing it. I don’t want music to be a job for me; I want it to be something I’m doing for fun. As long it’s not a job, then you’re straight.” Will you follow Astro’s post-“X Factor” career? ‘Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’: Year In Review

We look back on an action-packed 2011 with Rob, Kristen, Taylor and more, in Twilight Tuesday. By Kara Warner Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” Photo: Summit Entertainment This week’s Twilight Tuesdays is dedicated to the 10 best “Twilight” moments of 2011. Selecting the list proved to be a daunting task, considering an action-packed year full of “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” news, interviews, photos, videos and more. Among the biggest highlights were saucy honeymoon photos, much ado about a sex scene, the birth of a vampire/human hybrid baby and the return of the fan-created “tent city” in support of the L.A. premiere of “Part 1.” 10. Breaking Dawn Soundtrack Revealed The vampire franchise has not only made its stars super famous, but an artist who lands on any of the films’ best-selling soundtracks can expect to a special boost and instant exposure to a massive fanbase. Emerging acts like Sleeping At Last and Christina Perri , as well as rising stars like Bruno Mars have earned featured spots on the compilations. But “Twilight” stars have also contributed material, with Mia Maestro’s “Carmen” making the cut. 9. The Twilight World Tour There’s nothing like the glitz of a red-carpet premiere to bring out the best in everyone, particularly with regard to wardrobe choices. When the “Breaking Dawn” cast embarked upon a whirlwind tour of world premieres, Twilighters couldn’t wait to see who wore what. MTV News captured the glamorous looks in a handy photo gallery for repeated viewing pleasure. 8. Breaking Dawn Goes To Comic-Con Those who’ve been following the franchise from the beginning will probably remember that it was at in 2008 San Diego Comic-Con that thousands of screaming fans descended upon the annual pop-culture convention and surprised convention-goers with their overwhelming enthusiasm. That first showing was such a huge success that going forward, Summit made Comic-Con a major priority with regard to promoting the films. At this summer’s event MTV News got several particularly newsy tidbits about Renesmee and Jacob’s imprinting, but we also really loved hearing Kristen Stewart talk about Bella’s wedding . 7. Our Extended Breaking Dawn Interview We’ve had the pleasure of catching up with the castmembers several times this year, so it was hard to narrow down all of those great interviews into just one favorite. That said, we loved hearing Robert Pattinson talk about Stewart playing a vampire in “Breaking Dawn – Part 2.” And he really loved that she had to suffer through those uncomfortable contact lenses for the transition. “When she finally wore them and then was complaining about them every second of the day, it was kind of satisfying,” he smiled. 6. The First Photo Any piece of “Twilight” news is arguably cause for a few screams of delight for Twi-hards. But when Summit released the first steamy, swoon-worthy photo of newlyweds Edward and Bella in bed together, we could practically hear the collective squeals and sighs from fans around the world. Talk about starting the New Year off with a bang. 5. The Trailer This one really needs no introduction or explanation, but if there were squeals when the first photo was released, there may well have been mind-explosions and full-on fainting when we premiered the first full-length “Breaking Dawn” trailer during the ’11 MTV Movie Awards. The clip offered glimpses of the wedding, a shirtless Jacob Black, the Cullens, the wolf pack, a very unexpected and dangerous pregnancy … everything a Twilighter hoped for. 4. Fan-Made Reactions To The Trailer When we asked “Twilight” fans to send in their reactions to the trailer , we couldn’t have anticipated all of the crying. Fans shed tears of joy, of course, and with those emotional outpourings clinched prominent placement on our list. 3. “MTV First: Breaking Dawn,” The Highlight Reel As we’ve already mentioned, we were lucky to spend time with the cast this year. One of the best interviews we conducted was as part of our “MTV First” series. Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner introduced an exclusive clip and let loose in a lively Q&A. We even put together a highlight reel from the extra-special event that includes making Stewart uncomfortable and Pattinson complaining about Lautner’s well-defined abs. 2. The L.A. Premiere Excitement over the star-studded Los Angeles premiere of “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” was so intense it seemed to rival major Hollywood events like the Golden Globes or the Academy Awards. Celebrity super fans begged to attend and came out in droves to the premiere, many with their children and teenagers in tow. The fans’ cheering was nonstop as the stars arrived on the black carpet, but it reached fever pitch with the arrival of Pattinson. Naturally, our quick chat with the heartthrob about all those sex scenes and their potential to give the film an R-rating made our Twilight Tuesdays “best of” list. 1. Fans Unite In “Tent City” Make no mistake, we have high regard for Pattinson, Stewart, Lautner, director Bill Condon and everyone who worked on “Breaking Dawn,” but when it comes to the franchise’s key components, the fans are the real secret to its success. When we visited the dedicated, die-hard bunch that descended upon downtown Los Angeles to camp out, we were delighted by their enthusiasm. Gathered in appropriately named “tent city,” they amassed several days before the premiere in a show of ultimate fandom. So here’s to you, “Twilight” fans, and see you again next year for “Breaking Dawn – Part 2.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Robert Pattison Is ‘Sensational’ In ‘Cosmopolis’

‘He’s a great actor,’ director David Cronenberg tells MTV News. ‘It’s obvious in the movie.’ By Kevin P. Sullivan, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon in “Cosmopolis” Photo: Caitlin Cronenberg’s Twitter The infamous birth scene in “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” may have drawn comparisons to the work of director David Cronenberg , but star Robert Pattinson got to work with the auteur for real in the upcoming “Cosmopolis,” an adaptation of the novel by Don DeLillo. The role represents a dynamic shift from the character fans around the world know Pattinson for, Edward Cullen, but Cronenberg, when he spoke with MTV News’ Josh Horowitz, explained that the choice was nothing more than the normal casting process. “You start with the basics. How old is he? What does he look like? Is the character very nerdy? Is he handsome and devilish?” Cronenberg said. “Is he an intellectual? You think about all these things and you think about the actors who could possibly project the things that you need from this character.” Once Cronenberg had a list of potential candidates for the “Ulysses”-inspired protagonist, Eric Packer, it is important to consider a star’s profile in order to get the proper funding for the film. Cronenberg said that it takes an actor with a name like Pattinson to get his movies made. After judging Pattinson’s interest in the project and working around his schedule, it was clear to Cronenberg that he was the man for the job. “Ultimately, I felt he was the guy. Once again, intuition,” he said. “I saw his movies, including ones maybe his Twi-Hard fans don’t know about, like ‘Little Ashes.’ Maybe they saw ‘Remember Me,’ I’m not sure.” As for Pattinson’s “Twilight” reputation, it’s something Cronenberg acknowledges. “I can’t pretend that I’m not aware of that. This is an unusual jump for him. He said it himself. It’s scary,” Cronenberg said, adding that it’s the scary part of it that makes it worthwhile. “It’s a scary thing because he’s never really had to carry a movie quite that way before, totally on his own,” he said. “He’s in every scene. He’s almost in every shot, so scary for him, but for an actor, scary is good. You don’t want to be bored. You don’t want to be too confident.” The question that will be on everyone’s minds who goes to see the film may ultimately be, “Can the ‘Twilight’ kid actually act?” Cronenberg was quick to cast any doubt aside. “Really, he’s fantastic. He’s sensational,” he said. “Really, I’m telling you. He’s a great actor. It’s obvious in the movie. It’s not like maybe yes, maybe no. It’s obvious.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Cosmopolis.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

‘Rock of Ages’ Director Tried To Get Robert Pattinson

‘There were a million times when we were supposed to get together and talk, but the dude is so busy,’ Adam Shankman tells MTV News. By Kevin P. Sullivan, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson Photo: Getty Images At the Hollywood premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” Tinseltown was abuzz with all things Kristen Stewart , Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner . Even Adam Shankman , director of the upcoming movie musical “Rock of Ages,” couldn’t help but gush about Pattinson in particular. “Rob is a good singer. There were times during the ‘Rock of Ages’ casting process [we thought of him], and he was never available,” Shankman told MTV News’ Josh Horowitz. “That just was never able to happen. There were a million times when we were supposed to get together and talk, but the dude is so busy.” Aside from not being able to land Pattinson for a role, Shankman said the musical will indeed rock — so much so that even the men out there will enjoy it. “The movie really is like a musical for straight guys,” Shankman laughed. “Guys are going to be super pumped to go with their girlfriends.” Though the film’s casting process snagged headlines early on, we haven’t heard or seen too much from “Rock of Ages,” but Shankman said that should change soon, when a trailer arrives this month. The director said the wait will be worth it for all of the craziness we’ll end up seeing. “It is a batsh– crazy movie,” he said. “It is a ride from beginning to end; it is giant movie stars singing classic-rock karaoke in ’80s drag having the time of their lives. It’s just a big party.” The one thing we have seen from the film is an official snapshot of Tom Cruise , rocking out, minus a shirt, and at the premiere, Shankman hyped up the “Mission: Impossible” star’s rock abilities. “For Tom, well, I would say he does an insane version of ‘Pour Some Sugar on Me,’ that every time I show it to people, they’re like, ‘Can we see that again?’ ” Shankman said. According to the director, things get even more heated when Cruise teams up with Malin Akerman for a power ballad. “He and Malin Akerman do one of the most outrageous interpretations of ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’; I just hope I get it past the ratings board,” he said. The number is so out-there, according to Shankman, that he considers it the craziest thing he’s directed. “[Malin] is fearless, she’s awesome,” he said. “We knew you couldn’t tell jokes about rockers in the ’80s halfway, so it’s very funny, but it’s also sexy and it’s a little insane. I’ve never made anything that is that nuts. Nickelback Will Play Detroit Lions’ Thanksgiving Game

After weeks of online protests from Lions fans, there’s official word the band has been booked to play. By James Montgomery Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger Photo: Getty Images Well, now it’s official. Two weeks after an irate Detroit Lions fan launched an online petition asking the team to remove Nickelback as the halftime performers for their annual Thanksgiving game, there is finally confirmation from the United Way — sponsors of said halftime show — that the Canadian quartet will be performing at the game. “Nickelback will take the stage for the 2011 United Way Thanksgiving Halftime Show during the first game of the NFL’s tripleheader when the Detroit Lions host the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, November 24, at 12:30 pm ET,” the United Way said in a press release. “The game and halftime show will be broadcast live on Fox.” It marks the first actual confirmation that Nickelback will be performing at the game. On November 1, The Oakland Press reported that the band had been booked — a story that led to the creation of that online petition claiming there are better choices for the gig — but neither the NFL nor the Detroit Lions commented on the matter (a spokesperson for the league did not respond to MTV News’ request for comment last week, and a rep for the Lions had no comment when reached). There is no mention of the online outrage in the United Way press release — though they do announce that “American Idol” season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina will be singing the National Anthem before the Lions/Packers tilt — but there is a quote from Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, who thanked his fans in Detroit for their continued support of the band (petitions notwithstanding). “We are honored to perform at the United Way halftime show on Thanksgiving Day,” Kroeger said. “We always love playing in Detroit, our fans there have been tremendously supportive of us through the years and we can’t wait to come back and celebrate an exciting day for the Lions and the city of Detroit.” Related Artists Nickelback
