Bret Michaels has suffered another medical scare. The 51-year old rocker, who had a brain hemorrhage in 2010 , collapsed on stage at the Palace Theatre in Manchester, New Hampshire last night. A Type-1 diabetic, Michaels had performed three songs with an “extremely low” blood sugar, according to guitarist Pete Evick, who said paramedics rushed to the singer’s aid and helped transport him to the hospital. “Bret looked at me and looked like he was gonna die,” the musician wrote in a text to Metal Sludge. Michaels has concerts scheduled for tonight in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and Saturday night in Albany, but it’s unclear if he’ll be able to make those dates. Wrote Evick in an explanatory Facebook post: In the 9 years I’ve stood next to him, I’ve never seen a look like the one on his face as if I was a complete stranger. One of the crew returned instantly to notify me that Bret’s blood sugar was extremely low. He returned to the stage only to announce that he could not continue. As you all know he is a health fanatic and fiercely monitors his blood sugar, he basically had to be dragged off the stage in his sickest of conditions. When I rushed to the bus he could barley speak, but begged me to apologize to the fans and seemed only concerned for them. In 2009, Michaels also clocked his head on a piece of scenery while performing at the Tony Awards. We send him our best wishes.

The first-grader allegedly took his grandmother’s heroin to Caln Elementary School in Coatesville and gave packets to at least one of his classmates Friday. The 7-year-old had nine bags of heroin — all stamped with the words “Victoria’s Secret” — stuffed in his pockets, Philadelphia’s WPVI reported. He gave one to another student, whose mother found it hours later. The District Attorney’s Office said the boy’s grandma, who is 56 years old, is a known heroin user. She was arrested Sunday and faces endangering the welfare of children and drug charges. “Any exposure to heroin for a young child is likely to result in death,” District Attorney Tom Hogan said in a statement. “The defendant is lucky that she was not responsible for the death of her own grandson or somebody else’s child.” Can you imagine what parents would do to this lady if their child died from this isht?! Police said Bilinski-Munion lost track of her heroin when she was watching the boy at the family home Thursday night, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. The boy told police he pocketed the drugs when he found them on the floor. Not long after Bieber was arrested for DUI in January, a petition to have the singer deported back to Canada amassed over 100,000 signatures, forcing The White House to actually review this document, according to law. It continued: “The We the People terms of participation state that, ‘to avoid the appearance of improper influence, the White House may decline to address certain procurement, law enforcement, adjudicatory, or similar matters properly within the jurisdiction of federal departments or agencies, federal courts, or state and local government in its response to a petition.” The petition originated on January 23 and was titled “Deport Justin Bieber and revoke his green card.” It garnered more than 273,000 signatures and actually prompted an official statement regarding immigration reform. “Independent economists say immigration reform will grow our economy and shrink our deficits by almost $1 trillion in the next 20 years,” reads the response. “For those of you counting at home, that’s 12.5 billion concert tickets – or 100 billion copies of Mr. Bieber’s debut album.” Since pleading not guilty to all charges (driving under the influence, resisting arrest and driving without a valid driver’s license), Bieber is awaiting a trial that is now scheduled to begin on Monday, May 5. Salute this young man! Poor Black DC Student With 4.3 GPA Accepted Into 5 Ivy League Schools This is the college acceptance season — frequently a nervous time for high school seniors. But D.C.’s Avery Coffey can relax. He applied to five Ivy League universities and all five accepted him. Via My Fox DC reports: Coffey attends Benjamin Banneker Academic High School, a D.C. public school with strict rules. None of the 439 students at Banneker is allowed to bring a cell phone into the building. They are also not allowed to go to their lockers during the school day. (That has spawned the peculiar tradition of piling up textbooks at the base of lockers, so kids can switch books between classes without violating the locker rule.) The strict rules at Banneker have fostered a rather serious academic environment. Principal Anita Berger says year after year after year, 100 percent of Banneker graduates are accepted into post-secondary institutions. Among these brainy and motivated public school students is 17-year-old Coffey who, like a lot of kids, enjoys sports. What does he play? “Baseball, basketball, tennis, soccer,” Coffey told us. He also enjoys academics, and he has a 4.3 high school report card average, adjusted for the demanding International Baccalaureate courses he takes. Coffey scored very high on standardized tests also. He calls himself a “determined” student. Coffey applied to five Ivy League universities, and, amazingly, has been accepted at all of them: Harvard, Princeton, Yale, the University of Pennsylvania, and Brown. And four of the five universities have already offered very generous financial aid packages. (Harvard is still formulating its offer.) Avery Coffey wants to major in finance. What’s the perfect job? “I guess probably the CEO of an investment (or management consulting) firm. I guess pretty much overseeing acquisitions or transactions between large companies. Hopefully, Fortune 500 companies,” Coffey told us with a grin. Coffey grew up in a single-parent household in D.C.’s Ward 8, the poorest part of the city. His mom works as a technician at Children’s Hospital. Avery’s advice to younger kids? “You can go anywhere you want to, pursue any career that you want to, and you shouldn’t let anybody hinder you from trying to reach your goals,” he said. Coffee hasn’t yet made up his mind as to which college to attend. But he says he’s leaning toward Penn or Harvard. Congrats!
This is so incredibly sad . A promising young athlete took her life over the weekend, leaving her friends and family with unanswered questions about what had her so troubled. Via NY Post reports : A beautiful 19-year-old University of Pennsylvania track star from New Jersey killed herself Friday by jumping to her death from a parking garage in Philadelphia, The Record reported . Madison Holleran posted a photograph of the sunset over Rittenhouse Square to her Instagram account about an hour before she jumped from a parking garage in Downtown Philadelphia at 7 p.m. The stunning Holleran competed for the UPenn cross-country and track teams and as an Allendale high schooler she won the 800-meter New Jersey state championship. The freshman’s friends and fans posted their condolences and grief to the heartbreaking photo she posted before her death. “Rest in peace Madison, whether you knew it or not you were and are an irreplaceable part of the Highlands family,” wrote Erin Lee. “I keep trying to imagine the pain you must’ve been going through and how lost you must’ve felt. My heart breaks along with the rest of the community after the loss of someone so genuine and kind,” wrote another friend. Two UPenn events – sorority recruitment and a track and field meet – were both postponed after Holleran’s death, the Daily Pennsylvanian reported. Everyone thinks their baby is extra special, but Sara Brandon’s baby boy wins … at least technically. He’s the biggest child born in the U.S. all year! The boy weighed in at a whopping 14 pounds – double the weight of your average newborn – and arrived a week and a half before his due date, no less. So was Joel Brandon Jr. born via C-section or naturally? The former. Sara had a scheduled C-section at 38 1/2 weeks, at which point she knew her son was big . An ultrasound estimated he would be around 11 pounds. Give or take three? The 2013 record-setting baby boy landed in the NICU because of respiratory problems, but a week later, he was released and is in perfect health. And straight into size 2 diapers. As a four-month-old, he’s up to 23 pounds … good enough for the “150th percentile” for height and weight based on how he compares to normal charts. The year’s previous “biggest baby” title holder was a little girl in Pennsylvania, born in July at 13 pounds, 12 ounces, just a shade under Joel’s weight. 14 is the new 13? 13-Pound Baby
What a horrible way to die . Woman Runs Over Boyfriend With Van If she wanted to get rid of him, why not just break up with him? Cotdamn. According to The NY Daily News A Pennsylvania woman was arrested Monday for allegedly running over and killing her boyfriend during an argument and fleeing the scene. Esther Brubaker, 36, was charged with homicide by vehicle and causing an accidents involving a death, according to court records. Police say that Brubaker struck Jeremy Anderson, 34, with her minivan outside their Silver Spring home before taking off, according to Philadelphia’s NBC affiliate WCAU. The station reported that Anderson’s body was found with prominent tire marks on his body when police found him about 5:45 p.m. on Monday. The couple’s nanny told police that their children were inside the home at the time of hit-and-run, reported The Patriot-News of Central Pennsylvania. Police later found Brubaker with slurred speech and balance issues at a bar, court documents show. Anderson, who was pronounced dead on the spot, is reportedly the same man who was kicked and Tasered by police last April. Brubaker recorded the violent arrest and posted video of it to YouTube, where it captured media attention. Last September, Brubaker was arrested for stealing $300 worth of groceries from a Giant supermarket, according to WHTM. Brubaker is in custody in lieu of $1 million bail.
