Teacher Causes Outrage After Allowing Students To Reenact Mike Brown Shooting At School Parents in Alabama are outraged after one mother took to her Faceook page to alert other parents that her child and theirs had been involved a reenactment of the senseless, fatal shooting of unarmed teenager Mike Brown while at school. via WFSA Selma The internal investigation is complete of a sixth grade Dallas County teacher who was placed on paid administrative leave after students in her 6th grade class were instructed to re-enact the August 9th shooting death of Michael Brown in class. Brown, 18, was fatally shot by a Ferguson, Missouri police officer. The unarmed black man’s death by a white police officer has sparked protests and riots in the St. Louis suburb and around the country. Dallas County School System Superintendent Don Willingham says he’s wrapped up his investigation of the unnamed Brantley Elementary School teacher and says he’s discussed his decision with the principal. School officials planned a meeting with the teacher for Thursday afternoon. Results of that meeting are not yet known. The re-enactment sparked outrage after a parent of one of the students complained about the class assignment on social media. The assignment started out as an innocent current events lesson, discussing the recent incident in Missouri that has garnered heavy media attention. But, Jessica Baughn, the student’s mother, says the assignment just went too far. “This is not nowhere near right,” Baughn explained. “It was uncalled for.” Baughn explained the assignment in which her son took part. “She [the teacher] had them get on the internet and look up everything about [the Ferguson shooting],” Baughn says. “They proceeded to re-enact the shooting in class.” Baughn says the students used paper guns and paper bullets. “They actually shot them out of this made gun,” she says. “The child falls on the ground like he’s dead.” Baughn claims a white child played the role of Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson and a black student pretended to be Michael Brown. “I understand talking about current history,” the mom explained, “but not re-enacting it I don’t… What are we teaching our children?” We’ll definitely be paying attention to see how this story plays out. Black Editor From People Magazine Reveals Discriminatory Practices, Magazine Only Wanted Stories About Whites Now a former employee is spilling the beans on racist practices going on behind the scenes at the publication. According to NY Daily News reports : The recently axed lone black editor of People says she was discriminated against by her boss, and that the popular magazine is biased against African-Americans in general. People is “a discriminatory organization run entirely by white people who intentionally focus the magazine on stories involving white people and white celebrities,” Tatsha Robertson’s bombshell lawsuit says. The 48-year-old Robertson, “the only Black Senior Editor the magazine has ever had,” was laid off in May, according to the suit. She says only five of the mag’s 110 employees were black, and that now-former executive editor Betsy Gleick treated her like a second class-citizen when she came to the magazine from another Time Inc. publication, Essence, in 2010. “You need to talk like everyone else here. You’re not at Essence anymore,” Gleick is quoted in the suit as saying. She says Gleick left her out of important meetings, and denigrated her attempts to do more stories on black people. Robertson said when she pitched a story about an African-American model who’d been killed, Gleick told her the victim looked like a “slut” and the magazine wasn’t interested. “You know the rule — white suburban women in distress,” she said, according to the suit. She also allegedly said the magazine was only interested in stories involving “white, middle-class suburbia.” Gleick, 51, followed Robertson out the door in June. A spokesperson for People said, “People declines to comment.” When the magazine does put black people on its cover, they’re held to a different standard, the suit says. Although People “put Trayvon Martin on its cover, Ms. Gleick was completely obsessed with attempting to unearth any potential negative fact about him before doing so,” the suit says. “Ms. Gleick repeatedly questioned whether he was a ‘good kid,’ yet never made efforts to vet white victims of crime.” Cover stories on African-Americans were a rarity — the suit says a “black individual was the main feature” on the cover “exactly twice” in 2013, when the magazine put out 60 issues. “In total since 2010, only 14 out of 265 covers have been focused on African-American individuals,” the suit says. And since 1990, “only three individuals selected as the ‘Most Beautiful Person’ have been black, out of 25 selections.” Robertson’s lawyer, David Gottlieb of Wigdor LLP, said, “The media has a responsibility to report and act with integrity. People Magazine has betrayed that responsibility by engaging in discrimination, both in its pages and through its employment practices.” The suit seeks unspecified money damages from People, Time Inc. and Gleick. Dear Bossip , I’m currently in a relationship with a man who has a daughter. I on the other hand don’t have any children. I met him about 5 years ago and we dated. I specifically asked him was he ready to be in a relationship, he told me no. So, I began dating other people. I was showing him some pictures in my phone and he continued scrolling through my pictures and came across a picture of a guy and he flipped out. After that incident we went our separate ways. All communication between us was cut off. Fast forward about 2 ½ years and he decided to send me a message on Facebook. We got together and caught up. When I met him 5 years ago he didn’t have any children. Now, he has a 1 year old. I was real leery of getting involved with a guy with kids, but honestly this child has made an honest man out of him. I just love seeing him be a great father. That was a year ago. Now, we’re in a committed relationship. About a month or two ago we were over his parent’s home and to my surprise his mom pulled me to the side and told me that he’s expecting twins with his child’s mother. I had no clue of this. He didn’t mention this to me at all before we decided to make our relationship official. I asked him about it and he told me that he doesn’t really think she’s pregnant. He also told me that if she is pregnant he’s going to get a DNA test on the children. When his child’s mother was pregnant with his first child she confessed to him that she wasn’t sure if the baby was his. He got a DNA test and it proved the child is his. To bring things up to speed, his sister came out and said that his child’s mother is expecting twin boys. Now, I’m positive she’s pregnant and he’s probably the father. Now, that we’re in a relationship I’m not sure if I can handle being in a relationship with someone with three small children. I’m in my early 20s with my Bachelors degree and I plan on furthering my education – Should I Walk Away Dear Ms. Should I Walk Away , Uhm, sweetie, if his child’s mother is pregnant with twins right now, then, uhm, you do realize that he cheated on you while he was in a committed relationship with you. So, why wouldn’t you confront him about his infidelity? SMDH! I don’t understand why some of you will go back to an ex after years of being broken up, and being separated. He has a small child, and now his same baby momma is pregnant with twins. You and he were together at the time of her conception, which means he was cheating on you with her. So, Ms. Smarty-Pants, what do you think you should do? Do you think you should stay with this man who cheated on you with his baby momma? Do you want to be with this man who will have three small children, yet, you have none? Do you want to deal with his baby momma drama? Do you want to deal with him not having any money to take you out because all of his income will be going toward his three children? Leave. Get out of the relationship. The reason his mother and sister both told you that he is expecting twins is because they both know he ain’t –ish, and they don’t want to see him mess up your life. You seem like you have your head on your shoulders and you’re a good and wonderful person, and they are protecting you and giving you the red signs to take heed and leave his bum a**. You’re young, you have a lot going for you, and a lot to look forward to, and one of them is not being in a relationship with a man who has three small children, and dealing with baby momma drama. He cannot do anything for you. He will be forever on child support, and he will not be able to take you out, buy you anything, or do anything special with you because he has to deal with his children, his responsibilities as a dad and parent, and giving his money to her. Why stay with a man who cannot commit himself fully to you emotionally, mentally, and physically? Do yourself a favor and get out of the relationship, delete him out of your life, and focus on you. Focus on your life, and be thankful that you are not baby momma number two, and having to deal with his other child’s mother and you being pregnant. Be thankful that his mother and sister warned you, and hipped you to him and his trifling ways. Girl, buy them some flowers and send them a thank you note. Then, I’m going to need for you to stop responding to exes who reach out to you on social media. Stop going backward and repeating the same behaviors over and over again. They are an ex for a reason. Move forward. Life is about moving ahead, forward, and not backward. You stay in this relationship, then don’t be surprised by the drama you will experience and the stress you will encounter. According to People, Dion has postponed her Las Vegas residency, canceled her tour of Asia and postponed all show business activities indefinitely due to her husband’s health issues. In December, René Angélil had a tumor removed from his throat last December and this illness has resulted in “a very difficult and stressful time,” the singer tells the magazine. She adds: “I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband’s healing, and to do so, it’s important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children. I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support.” The 46-year old artist is also suffering from inflammation in her throat muscles, which has prevented her from performing her show at Caesars Palace since July 29.
