B.o.B Predicts VMAs Will Be ‘One Hell Of A Show’

‘I really want to see what everyone has up their sleeve as far as performances go,’ MC says. By Jayson Rodriguez B.o.B Photo: MTV News B.o.B is not only taking the stage to perform during the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards , but the Atlanta rapper is up for a number of awards himself, from Best Male Video to Best Hip-Hop Video. So while he sits in the house at the Nokia Theatre, he’ll have a front-row seat to take in the show. Although Florence and the Machine are favorites of the “Nothin’ on You” star, he told MTV News he’s looking forward to all of the performances. From Drake to Usher to Justin Bieber, B.o.B said he thinks everyone is going to deliver. “I really want to see what everyone has up their sleeve as far as performances go,” he explained. ” ‘Cause for me, I take performing very seriously. So I can bet everyone else is like that. So it’s gonna be one hell of a show.” B.o.B has had a good year, as the upstart MC scored a #1 debut album and three top 10 hits, “Nothin’ on You,” “Airplanes” and “Magic.” The lanky lyricist will take the stage to perform “Nothin’ on You” with Bruno Mars and then “Airplanes” with Paramore’s Hayley Williams. The Saturday rehearsal with B.o.B, Bruno Mars and Williams was relaxed and filled with plenty of impromptu moments. Bruno Mars and B.o.B each busted out into covers, of Drake’s “Find Your Love” and the Notorious B.I.G.’s “Juicy,” respectively. And B.o.B and Williams, who had recorded “Airplanes” separately and later shot their parts for the video at different times, met for the first time . Tune in tonight for the 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards, broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles! The party starts with MTV News’ VMA Pre-Show at 8 p.m., followed by the main event at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Demi Lovato Reveals Her Tour Wardrobe Inspiration: Rihanna

‘I’m a huge Rihanna fan and I also love spikes and anything leather,’ Lovato says of her tour attire. By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato Photo: MTV News Demi Lovato is currently on the road with the Jonas Brothers for their “Camp Rock 2” tour, and she has one killer wardrobe, complete with bedazzled boots, lots of funky jewelry and cool, little dresses. So Lovato, who has admitted to shopping on tour, was a bit nervous when she gave MTV News a behind-the-scenes look at her outfits for the tour. Lovato said that in the weeks leading up to the trek, she really had to focus and nail down the looks she wanted for her performances, which would include sets of her singing her own tunes as well as tunes from the “Camp Rock” movies. That means she needed looks that were both Lovato and Mitchie, her character from the movies. “When it comes to picking out outfits for the tour, I had a rack that filled out an entire warehouse,” she shared. “I just went through it and it took me like six, seven hours to fit all the outfits for the tour. It was fun!” One of those looks is an edgy black and feather dress that screamed Lady Gaga. “It’s a dress and I’ve never really performed my own set in a dress before,” she shared at a rehearsal days before the tour kicked off last week. “So I’m excited.” Another look was a sparkly teal dress that included some sky-high heels. “This is for one of the ‘Camp Rock’ looks that I sing the duet [‘Wouldn’t Change a Thing’ with Joe Jonas] in, and here are the crazy shoes also,” she said. “I mean they’re not crazy like Lady Gaga, but for me they are. I’ve never performed in stilettos, so we’ll see how this goes.” Lovato also shows off a multicolored dress with a little bronze jacket that suits her “Camp Rock” alternate persona perfectly. “Here’s another ‘Camp Rock,’ dress. Not something I would typically wear, but my character would,” she explained. So, what inspires Lovato’s fashion choices for the show? “I feel like it’s more Rihanna than Lady Gaga. I’m a huge Rihanna fan and I also love spikes and anything leather,” she said, before showing off some heavy metal jewelry. “And I have this crazy jewelry. Actually this one [ring] is pretty crazy [with all its spikes], and the bracelets have twice as many spikes. Overall, I guess you can say there’s a ton of spikes in my wardrobe.” Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: Demi Lovato Related Artists Demi Lovato

M.I.A. ‘Didn’t Care About’ New Album, Diplo Says

‘All she has is a bunch of yes men around her and they kinda suck,’ producer tells BlackBook magazine. By Gil Kaufman M.I.A. Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ FilmMagic The last time producer Diplo was quoted talking about M.I.A. ‘s ///Y/&#92 album, he got caught in an Internet sinkhole when he referred to the noisome disc as a “turd” in joking response to a question from a fan about what sounded like a toilet flushing on the song “Tell Me Why.” He shrugged off that controversy, saying that the many music blogs that quickly headlined his slam of his collaborator’s music were “trippin’.” Diplo has since made a number of controversial remarks about the album and how it represented a breach in the once-close musical relationship he had with M.I.A., implying that he felt a bit locked out this time around. But in a new interview with BlackBook magazine , Diplo pulls no punches, making it very clear that he is not onboard with the sound of the album. “She didn’t care about it. I was in the studio with her, she didn’t write anything,” he said of M.I.A. “Me and [collaborator] Switch tried our best to be quality control of the record and she didn’t want that. She kind of went on her own way … I was like, Look, nobody in your crew — we were the only people she could trust, and our asses were on the line too. We got here because of working with people like her. We care about the way things sound, and when the people that she works with don’t, then it’s f—ed up.” Of course, Diplo was not naming names, and he noted that “she’s got talent in every aspect,” praising M.I.A.’s big ideas and ability to make things happen, but he lamented that the singer may have fallen into the usual trap of surrounding herself with sycophants. “All she has is a bunch of yes men around her and they kinda suck,” he said. “I burned like 20 bridges with her. I build my own bridges, it doesn’t matter. I’m honest. As soon as she comes to terms with what she does then we can work again. One of us has to be like, We f—ed up, and then we can do it again.” Last month, Diplo told MTV UK that M.I.A. “didn’t want to put any of my records on it like last time. She will do anything to discredit me.” And in the BlackBook interview, he added that he was a bit shocked at some of the backlash M.I.A. has gotten over the album. “I am surprised by it,” he said. “She like, retired because she married a dude and she didn’t care about music. She only did it again because ‘Paper Planes’ did blow up in the end. It gave her a second wind, but she didn’t have any hunger anymore. She already got a full table … but besides that I think she’s amazing and she’ll put another record out that’s going to be f—in’ sick because I think she needs to get grounded at some point.” For her part, the outspoken singer seems to have taken the high road and has not shot back at Diplo so far, recently telling MTV News that she’s very proud of the “3-D” sound of the album, saying she likes the aggressive, rattling drill bit effects on tracks like “Steppin’ Up.” Spokespeople for Diplo and M.I.A. could not be reached for comment at press time. ‘Lost’ Creators Promise More Answers After The Finale

Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse will answer lingering questions through a DVD bonus feature. By Josh Wigler Carlton Cuse Photo: MTV News That’s it, everybody. Show’s over. Nothing more to see. “Lost” is done. What? You’re not satisfied? You don’t feel that executive producers and writers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse supplied answers to every single one of your burning questions? There’s no doubt that there are still lingering issues, even after the two-and-a-half-hour monumental television event, and if you’re scratching your head wondering why certain plot points developed over the last six years were completely ignored on Sunday (May 23), you may be in luck. According to Cuse, more answers are on the way, even with the finale fully wrapped. “We did a little feature for the DVDs, and in sort of an entertaining way, we answered a few things that are not [answered] on the show,” Cuse told MTV News about the series finale. “It’s just a little side-light on some of the questions we didn’t get to in the main narrative.” That said, don’t expect Cuse or Lindelof to apologize for their storytelling decisions, as the “Lost” masterminds feel they answered everything they needed to. “We feel the story of ‘Lost’ is complete and the big questions [are answered],” Cuse said. “The character stories, those are the things that we really care about. That’s what really gets resolved in the finale.” That’s not to say that Cuse and Lindelof didn’t get emotional while letting go of “Lost.” “It was never not emotional to watch the end of the show,” Cuse confessed. “For us, we felt the emotion in the performances and in the way that Jack Bender directed it. When we went to the scoring stage and we heard Michael Giacchino put the music to the finale, it really gave us a sense of closure. It felt like that was what was closing the show.” For Lindelof’s part, ending “Lost” was a lot like buying somebody a birthday present several years in advance. “By the time their birthday rolls around, you’re sort of like, ‘Are they even going to like this anymore? Do they already have one?’ But that never happened with us,” the “Lost” co-creator revealed . “The closer we got [to the end], the more confident we became that it was the right ending. It was very satisfying for us.” How about you, “Lost” fans? Are you confident that Lindelof and Cuse went with the right ending? Are you satisfied? If nothing else, you have to take some comfort in knowing that more answers are on the way, right? Let us know what you’re going through in the comments section below. ‘Glee’ Cast Brings More Than Mere Covers To L.A. Tour Stop

Gleeks help turn live show into massive sing-along as the stars reprise hits from the show. By Aimee Curran Jenna Ushkowitz, Cory Monteith, Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Amber Riley perform in Los Angeles Thursday Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images LOS ANGELES — Pom-pom pumping, sign holding, dancing Gleeks filled Universal City Walk’s Gibson Amphitheatre Thursday night with ear-piercing levels of pubescent screams, sweat and tears. In the first of their three-night run in Los Angeles, the cast of Fox’s wildly popular “Glee” took the stage to give their fans a full hour of power-packed, musical madness, covering pop hits of the past and present. Pre-taped appearances by stars Matthew Morrison and Jane Lynch delightfully kicked off the show as they informed the audience, “You will be barfing.” Performing in character, the cast launched into Journey’s, “Don’t Stop Believing.” Minor pyrotechnics, flashy lights and more technically polished dancing made the performances more than simple re-creations of their TV musical interludes. From the floor-grinding Salt-N-Pepa “Push It” to the finger-snapping jazz of Frank Sinatra’s “Lady Is a Tramp” nobody was sitting down or leaving to use the bathroom. Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and company sang hits covered in the first season of the show — and even a few that haven’t even aired. The cast was able to make every song their own while still managing to maintain the original artist’s integrity. A big fan favorite was Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance,” which received the loudest cheers as the cast emerged wearing her most memorable costumes. “My favorite was Lady Gaga because she obviously rocks,” “Glee” fan Mike Schubert told MTV News after the show. “To see them bring it alive with all the costumes was awesome.” “Sweet Caroline” elicited screams so loud for show dreamboats, Monteith and Mark Salling, one might have thought Justin Bieber was flipping his hair somewhere close by. Montieth playing drums and Salling casually strolling across the stage playing a red electric guitar did nothing to quell the raging hormones as they lead fans in a massive sing-a-long. Van Halen’s “Jump” was a sure sign that the party was far from over. The audience was treated to a cast display of mattress hopping across the stage, wearing matching blue pajamas and smiles like they did in an episode last fall. Amber Riley’s eye-popping rendition of Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful” brought a hush over the crowd, while Lea Michele showed off her vocal range during the Journey mash-up “Faithfully” and “Any Way You Want It.” Closing out the night, the encore of Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors” and Queen’s “Somebody to Love” left fans standing in a snowstorm of confetti and cheers as the cast bid them goodnight. Die-hard Gleek Emy Setiadi was thrilled with the translation from TV to stage. “The live show is so much better,” she said. “You get to hear all the live vocals. Even if it’s imperfect, all the mistakes are amazing. It’s crazy!” Which “Glee” cover would you want to see live? Share your thoughts in the comments. Ryan Seacrest Picks His ‘American Idol’ Top Two

‘Crystal has been a favorite for many, many weeks,’ the host says of Bowersox. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Matt Elias Ryan Seacrest Photo: MTV News Did Lee DeWyze have one of those oft-discussed, ever-elusive “moments” during “Hallelujah” on Tuesday night? Was Crystal Bowersox’s soulful take on “Maybe I’m Amazed” enough to guarantee her safe passage to next week’s show? And why have the judges spit such cold-blooded criticism at Casey James after tolerating his cowboy-cool shtick for months? These were among the many questions coming out of Tuesday’s penultimate performance show , and anyone who can successfully answer them has a good chance to predict which of these top-three finalists will get the heave-ho and which will make it into the top-two face-off next week. “Idol” host Ryan Seacrest is pretty sure he knows at least one-half of the dynamic finale duo, as he told MTV News over the weekend. “Crystal has been a favorite for many, many weeks,” he said at KISS-FM’s Wango Tango concert in Los Angeles. “So I would expect that, based on her track record, she’ll be in that final competition, that final show.” That echoes Adam Lambert’s stance . The season-eight runner-up had picked Bowersox to win the entire competition, citing her “anti-establishment rebelliousness.” While Seacrest didn’t go so far as to announce his selection to take home the “Idol” crown, he did hint who he thinks will occupy the other slot in this year’s top two. “Then it’s Lee and Casey,” he said. “I don’t know. I think that Lee’s got a big fanbase.” Ever the reality-show politician, Seacrest then added, “My guess could be Crystal, Lee or Casey.” Who do you think will face off in the finale next week? Let us know in the comments! Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page , where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions. Lee DeWyze Hallelujah video

“Hallelujah” was an incredible moment. We had goosebumps and teared up a little. Audience members were standing and swaying, like people do at more rambunctious church services. The audience members leapt to their feet afterwards in thunderous applause. We have never seen anything like it this season and can only imagine what the “moments” from other seasons must have been like. Lee Dewyze unequivocally won the Top 3 night on “American Idol” with his performances of “Hallelujah” and “Simple Ma
