Kings Of Leon’s ‘Pyro’ Video: All Drunks Go To Heaven

Band’s new video is a solemn affair with a grandiose ending. By James Montgomery Kings of Leon’s Caleb Followill (file) Photo: Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images If you’re looking for cheery Christmastime viewing, perhaps it’s best to avoid the Kings of Leon’s brand-new “Pyro” video, four-plus minutes of drunks and depression that, ultimately, gets (sorta) uplifting — but, wow, what a psychic slog it is to get to that point. The clip takes place entirely in a seedy bar — kind of like the Kings said it would last month — one filled entirely with downtrodden dregs: stumbling drunkards, lecherous lotharios, broken-down bikers, each of them lost in their own boozy worlds, alone together in the room. Their stupors are momentarily broken by the arrival of a young man, who comes in out of the cold to get a drink and then heroically interjects himself in a fight between a burly man and his terrified girlfriend. He is rewarded for his bravery by getting beaten up — first by the man in question, and then by his surly friends, who take turns pounding on him before tossing him through a mirror while a dead-eyed stripper slowly gyrates away (of course there’s a dead-eyed stripper in this place). The sundry of drunks cheer this savagery on and even the bartender gets in on the act, tossing one of the men a baseball bat, presumably to finish off the job. Meanwhile, the band — played by the Kings themselves — plays on, watching the brutality unfold around them. But then, something sorta miraculous happens. Our hero — flat on his back — slowly begins to rise. His wounds magically heal. He opens his eyes and ascends to the heavens. His assailants can’t believe it, and they recoil in shock. Soon, everyone else in the bar begins levitating too — first the purer souls (a caretaker, a terrified young woman, the dead-eyed stripper) and then the rest of the room. The clip ends with everyone slowly floating off into the great beyond, perhaps freed from their personal prisons by this single act of heroism. Or maybe they’re all just really wasted. Either way, that mass ascension manages to put a slightly affirming — not to mention incredibly artistic — capper on the video. “Pyro” is a solemn, sometimes grotesque thing, but there’s a strange beauty to it too. Like a diamond broche on a barroom floor, it sparkles despite all the grime it’s coated in. It may not be the easiest thing to watch, but it’s ultimately rewarding — chill-inducingly so. Drink up. Victoria Silvstedt Fingering Herself In A Bikini of the Day

I hate this useless fucking cunt. She tried to sue me when I posted pics of her getting eaten out by a Greek Billionaire. She has sued people I know because she’s one of those attention seeking twats who likes attention on her terms. Not that she deserves any attention, she was in Playboy a decade ago, big fucking deal, anyone can get fake tits. Her body is old, tired and boring to watch hang onto its sex appeal, her fake tits are as retarded as my neighbor’s kid, and that fucker is wheel chair bound and always in a bib. She is not worth jerking off to, she is just a low level hooker with the right clientele, but when she fingers herself in a bikini, I have no choice but to post the shit, cuz that’s just the kind of blogger I am, one who puts his personal opinon aside to report the fucking bikini pics in an objective way. Lady Gaga Cries in Concert in Poland, Calls Out "Trendy" Counterparts

It’s not often you see Lady Gaga reduced to tears on stage. The two main talking points from the pop star’s impromptu concert address in Poland Friday … Her upcoming album, Born This Way , will be the best of the decade. She’s sick of the whole let-your-freak-flag-fly trend in pop culture. Lady Gaga Cries During Poland Concert “The funny thing is some people reduce freedom to a brand,” Gaga said, crying. “They think that it’s trendy now to be free. They think it’s trendy to be excited about your identity. In truth, there is nothing trendy about Born This Way .” Gaga has long been a vocal advocate for gay rights, but is this personal? Is there a hint of jealousy at “her” message being co-opted by other celebrities? The bulk of Lady Gaga’s speech sounded like a direct response to the handful of empowerment songs female pop stars have released in recent months. From Pink’s “Raise Your Glass” to Katy Perry’s “Firework” and Ke$ha’s “We R Who We R,” many singers seem to be siding with the underdogs lately. The wig and lipstick comments may be a shot at Nicki Minaj, who has embraced a gay fan base, and donned an assortment of out-there hairpieces. No one here’s questioning the motives of Pink, Katy or Ke$ha, and Gaga likely isn’t either, but you can’t help but wonder if she’s feeling a bit left out. After all, those artists performed at the American Music Awards before Born This Way was even released. Is Gaga trying to take back the message? This is a girl who’s donned a meat dress, done countless PSAs, even embraced hermaphrodite rumors about herself. But can’t others join the party? You tell us: Was Lady Gaga weeping because she feels so strongly about her fans and her causes, or for selfish reasons? A combination of the two?

‘The Buried Life’ Guys Say They’re Down For A Third Season

‘We always have things on the list that we want to cross off,’ castmember Ben Nemtin explains. By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Rya Backer The cast of “The Buried Life” Photo: Angela Weiss/ Getty Images The gang behind MTV’s “The Buried Life” isn’t likely to leave behind a lengthy list of regrets when they kick the bucket, and for the season-two finale, the boys kicked off one of their biggest episodes ever: an hour-long opus packed with gutsy attempts at making a million bucks. Ben Nemtin, Dave Lingwood and Duncan Penn recently kicked back on the MTV Newsroom couch to chat about the finale and said the inspiration for the episode came from one of the most popular wishes that people across the board want to fulfill: becoming a multimillionaire. “Everywhere we go, we ask the question: ‘What do you want to do before you die?’ And it’s amazing how often we get an answer that has something to do with money and specifically like, ‘I wanna make millions of dollars,’ ” Duncan explained. “We really wanted to see how far we could get at making a million dollars. We tried everything [and] pulled off some amazing, amazing things. We’re really excited about this episode; that’s why we made it an hour long. We also get to help someone in a way that we’ve never been able to help someone. It’s a good one. It’s probably one of our best.” For Ben, his jumbo-size Las Vegas gamble tops his list of season two’s best moments. “My personal highlight is a moment that happens in the finale. The [episode goal] is to make a million dollars, and we do the biggest roulette spin in Vegas’ history. It’s probably one of the most nerve-racking … I don’t even know how to explain it, but it was a feeling that I don’t think I’ve never felt before, right before that spin,” he recalled. As viewers saw Monday night (November 29), the guys each chose a different path toward pumping up their bank accounts, armed with $25,000 of seed money each. Ben hit Vegas, Duncan ventured to Wall Street to team up with investment expert Jim Cramer, and Dave went into the apparel game, cranking out zippered onesies for adults. Duncan explained that his personal interest in business drew him to the moneymaking address. “I studied business in school, and so I decided what I wanted to do was go to Wall Street and team up with somebody, kind of a guru in the game and see how far I could get, how much money I could make in sort of a short period of time doing, like, really, really risky plays,” he said. The boys can now strike a line through “starring in the second season of their hit TV series” on their “Buried Life” list. They’re definitely game for a third go-around, but even if their adventures aren’t broadcast to the world, the fellas say they’ll continue to whittle down their list on their own. “We always have things on the list that we want to cross off. We started this in a garage in Canada four years ago and were doing it three years before MTV,” Ben said. “For us, we want to keep doing this as long as we can, so there’s always gonna be things that we’re trying to cross off. I mean, ‘go to space’ is on the list.” Duncan agreed: “We’re still surviving this season, but I think we’d be up for a third season.” What did you think of the season-two finale of “The Buried Life”? How Did 30 Seconds To Mars Pull Off Ambitious ‘Hurricane’ Video?

Jared Leto labored day and night to finish eventual 13-minute-plus short film. By James Montgomery 30 Seconds to Mars’ Jared Leto in “Hurricane” Photo: EMI In early November, following his band’s performance of “Hurricane” with Kanye West at the 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards and months of adjective-filled hyperbole about the single’s accompanying video, Jared Leto finally unveiled 30 Seconds to Mars’ “Hurricane” clip on Monday (November 29). OK, “short film.” The singer decided to provide the sneak peek during an impromptu (though well-catered) screening for a handful of folks — including MTV News — in his bedroom at the ME Hotel in Madrid. It was very late at night (or very early in the morning, depending on how you choose to look at these sort of things), and Leto was extremely clear about the fact that this was still “a very rough cut” of the video, playing the thing on a MacBook Pro and pausing every few frames to explain where a CG effect would be inserted or how the sound design would be shaped. But despite those facts (or, maybe, because of them), everyone left that bedroom thinking the exact same thing: “How the heck is Jared going to pull this off?” You couldn’t blame them, because just weeks later, the final, 13-minute version debuted on MTV.com, and it did, indeed, contain a number of impressive CGI effects of the type you might see in a Hollywood superhero summer movie, not to mention enough NC-17-rated material to make “Eyes Wide Shut” look like “Love & Other Drugs” by comparison. At the time, not only was “Hurricane” clocking in at around 20 minutes , it was sort of insane, too: a nightmarish rumination on sex and violence and secret fetishes that not only featured plenty of fight scenes (and nudity), but didn’t shy away from politically loaded imagery. Among the ones that made the cut was one in which a rabbi, priest and imam are seen tossing their holy prayer books onto a blazing pyre in a dank alley and another in which Leto battled a leather-masked foe in a courtyard littered with American-flag-draped coffins. (Spoiler alert, someone you know ends up in one of those coffins.) Part snuff film, part BBC World report, it was, in short, filled with the kind of stuff that makes censors cringe, in an era where that’s increasingly difficult to do. Following some cuts, the finished product contains a number of scenes seemingly too-hot-to-handle, which are dispatched with a big black “censored” bar. Though given the copious nudity, S&M play, barely there fetish gear and one quick-cut image of a woman spitting into another’s mouth, you kind of have to wonder what was so deviant that it couldn’t make the cut among all these dark fantasies? Add in the fact that Leto was attempting to weave three separate narratives — the members of 30STM each battling their personal demons and unlocking secret fantasies — in between all that sex and blood and book-burning, and you have the makings of a major undertaking. Considering that, according to his label, the video was due to premiere at the end of the month, Leto was then cutting the thing full-time, in the midst of a world tour, with the help of a team of editors that traveled with him everywhere he went. It seemed that, in just about every conceivable manner, “Hurricane” was a monster, an ode to not only Leto’s ego, but his unyielding ambition and utterly unmatched enthusiasm, which, in theory, made it not unlike everything he’s ever attempted with 30 Seconds to Mars. But everyone who saw it that night in Madrid knew differently. “Hurricane” may very well have been Leto going too far, pushing too hard. It seemed practically destined to remain forever unfinished. But, like the song’s guest rapper West, Leto is a hard man to deter, and he clearly got his way, delivering a 13-minute mind-bender that involves secret keys that unlock dark fears, treachery, seduction, submission, an unexplained cockroach cameo, a silver sexual aid on a platter and enough creepy masks to make Slipknot shudder. Somehow, by Monday, Leto had wrangled all those dark thoughts and visions into one dizzying whole and brought “Hurricane” home for its premiere. It would have been hard to find many people in the room that night who would have put money on “Hurricane” coming ashore in such record time. Well, except Leto. He knew. Nicki Minaj Vents About Being A Female MC In ‘My Time Now’ Preview

Documentary premieres Sunday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. By Mawuse Ziegbe Nicki Minaj Photo: MTV If there’s one thing Nicki Minaj does not do in her MTV documentary “My Time Now,” it’s hold back. The Pink Friday MC has skyrocketed to the upper echelons of the hip-hop game with a flow that swings from beastly to baby-voiced and a boldly wacky-yet-vampy persona. In the doc, the pink-wigged spitter reveals that her growing success is not just the result of her stacks of scene-stealing features, but also her insistence on being regarded as a musical force to be reckoned with. “I put quality in what I do. I spend time and I spend energy and I spend effort and I spend everything I have, every fiber of my being, to give people quality,” Minaj says in a teaser clip from the forthcoming film, hanging out in a semi-casual outfit, sporting a pale-blue T-shirt and towering Pepto-Bismol-hued wig. “So if I turn up to a photo shoot and you got a $50 clothes budget and some sliced pickles on a mother—-in’ board, you know what? No. I am gonna leave. “Is that wrong? For wanting more for myself, wanting people to treat me with respect?” she continues. “But you know what? Next time, they know better. But had I accepted the pickle juice, I would be drinking pickle juice right now.” Minaj also analyzes the double standards she says plague the entertainment industry, explaining that a confident behind-the-scenes manner will often land women unfavorable and dismissive labels. “When I am assertive, I’m a bitch. When a man is assertive, he’s a boss. He bossed up. No negative connotation behind ‘bossed up.’ But lots of negative connotation behind being a bitch. Donald Trump can say, ‘You’re fired.’ Let Martha Stewart run her company the same way and be the same way. [People will say] ‘F—ing old evil bitch!’ But Donald Trump, he gets to hang out with young bitches and have 50 different wives and just be cool. ‘Oh, Donald, we love you, Donald Trump!’ ” Minaj quips theatrically. The “Roman’s Revenge” spitter further maintains that, to make it as a superstar, aspiring female artists are expected to juggle a superhuman amount of multitasking. “When you’re a girl, you have to be everything. You have to be dope at what you do but you have to be super sweet and you have to be sexy and you have to be this, you have to be that, and you have to be nice,” she says. “It’s like, ‘I can’t be all those things at once. I’m a human being.’ ” The soliloquy is another moment in which the MC candidly provides insight, not only into her experience as a lyricist careening toward fame, but her personal views and perspectives as well. In addition to trailing the lyricist as she lays down her debut album, cameras follow the hitmaker on an emotional visit to her native Trinidad and catch Minaj as she opens up about her late grandmother . “They’re gonna meet Onika,” she recently told MTV News about the doc. “Everybody sees Nicki Minaj; they’re gonna meet Onika. They’re gonna hear my story, and it’s such an inspirational story, which I never really wanted to tell. ‘Cause everyone always feels like you don’t want people to know too much. But when I saw what [MTV and production company @radical.media] did, I thought, ‘People need to see this.’ It reminds you that everyone always feels like this is it, but there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel, and I feel like that’s what the doc says at the end.” Don’t miss the documentary “Nicki Minaj: My Time Now,” premiering Sunday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV! Justin Bieber And Manager Study Cautionary Tales Of Teen Stars

Scooter Braun says the secret to Bieber’s longevity will be his personal life. By Eric Ditzian Justin Bieber and Scooter Braun Photo: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images After picking up four trophies at the American Music Awards, Justin Bieber was back in Canada on Monday night, playing a sold-out show at Montreal’s Centre Bell. The 16-year-old hasn’t been back in his native country much since his latest tour kicked off this summer. And, according to Bieber’s manager, that constant traveling is hard on his family. “I think his dad misses him a lot because he doesn’t get to see Justin as much,” Scooter Braun told The Hollywood Reporter of his client, who was recently announced as one of Barbara Walters’ “10 Most Fascinating People of 2010.” “I think his mother — she and I have talked about this — at times, she struggles with how protective we have to be of him.” At the same time, though, Bieber’s mom is thankful that she can be protective of him while they’re on the road. “[S]he feels safer with him living this life because it’s structured, and we know where he is all the time,” Braun said. “She feels that if they were still in Stratford, Ontario, he’d be getting himself into a lot of trouble.” Instead, the Biebs is in the midst of 90-show international tour that weaves through North America before jumping over to the U.K. next year. And he has no plans to slow down any time soon. Pop-culture history is littered with epic flameouts, artists who rose to fame and quickly disappeared. But Bieber is so committed to avoiding such a fate, Braun said, he researches folks who fall into the “Where are they now?” category. “Justin doesn’t study the people who made it,” Braun said. “He studies the people who haven’t. He hears all the naysayers about how he’s going to disappear, so he likes to look up people who used to be the so-called Justin Biebers before him and didn’t go anywhere. He wants to see why they didn’t go anywhere. The general feeling we get is that it had nothing to do with their talent and everything to do with their personal life. Like the kids fall into drugs and destroy their own trajectory.” Related Photos Justin Bieber Takes Over The Bodies Of Other Teen Idols Justin Bieber’s AMA Night Related Artists Justin Bieber

CNN Breaking News: 339 Die in Stampede at Cambodia Water Festival | 329 Injured | Warning: Graphic Videos and Photos

180 die in stampede at Cambodia festival http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2010/11/22/more-than-100-killed-in-cambodia-festival-s… November 22nd, 2010 02:23 PM ET Cambodian prime minister: 339 dead in stampede A stampede occurred during a water festival in Phnom Pehn, Cambodia. [Updated at 2:26 p.m.] Ambulances appeared to be making runs back and forth between the scene of the stampede and the hospital – dropping off the injured and then speeding away again, video on state-run Bayon Television showed. Doctors stood outside a hospital, trying to direct traffic, between ambulances and vehicles of regular citizens bringing in the injured. Friends and family clutched some the injured already in the hospital while others raced from the streets clutching the injured in the arms. [Updated at 2:23 p.m.] Video from state-run Bayon Television in Cambodia showed panic in the streets and outside local hospitals. Dozens of injured people appeared to be laying on what appeared to be the waiting room floor of a hospital with IV lines hooked up to them that were strung across benches. [Updated at 2:04 p.m.] Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said Monday on state-run Bayon Television that 180 people have died in the water festival stampede. More than 4 million people were attending the Water Festival when the stampede occurred, said Visalsok Nou, a Cambodian Embassy official in Washington. [Posted at 1:55 p.m.] More than 100 people were killed Monday in a stampede that occurred during a festival near Cambodia's royal palace in Phnom Penh, a Cambodian Embassy official in Washington said. This story is developing. We'll bring you the latest information as soon as we get it. _____________________________ NEW PHOTOS JUST IN FROM BBC NEWS: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-11814045 _____________________________ (CNN) — A stampede that occurred during a festival in Cambodia's capital city of Phnom Penh has killed 339 people, officials said Monday. Another 329 people were injured in the crush, said Philip Bader, a news editor with the Phnom Penh Post, citing information given by Prime Minister Hun Sen in a televised address. Visalsok Nou, a Cambodian Embassy official in Washington, said more than 4 million people were attending the Water Festival when the stampede occurred. But other reports put the number at 2 million., said Steve Finch, a journalist with the Phnom Penh Post. The municipal police chief said that the stampede, which began around 10 p.m. (10 a.m. ET), likely occurred because a suspension bridge packed with people began to sway, creating panic, said Bader, who cited reports of people jumping from the bridge into the river below. Finch said police began firing water cannon onto a bridge to an island in the center of a river in an effort to get them to continue moving across the bridge. “That just caused complete and utter panic,” he told CNN in a telephone interview. He said a number of people lost consciousness and fell into the water; some may have been electrocuted, he said. Finch cited witnesses as saying that the bridge was festooned with electric lights, which may have played a role in the electrocutions. The government denied anyone was electrocuted. But a doctor who declined to be identified publicly said the main cause of death was suffocation and electrocution. Police were among the dead, Finch said. Officers with the prime minister's security unit stood outside a hospital trying to help those arriving with injured people and to control the scene of chaos. In one case at a hospital, relatives of a woman who had been confirmed dead discovered she still had a pulse and she was taken into the emergency room. It was not clear whether she survived, Finch said. Video of the scene showed hundreds of shoes, clothing and other personal items littering the streets, the bridge and the underlying water near where the festival took place. Ambulances dropped off the injured at area hospitals and then sped away, video on Bayon Television showed. Outside one hospital, doctors stood trying to direct traffic so that ambulances and vehicles carrying injured were able to get through. Dozens of people could be seen laying on what appeared to be the waiting-room floor of a hospital. They were attached to intravenous lines connected to bags strung along wires suspended in the air. The prime minister ordered an inquiry into the cause of the day's events and declared Wednesday a day of mourning. The three-day festival, which began Saturday, is held each November near the palace to honor a victory by Cambodian naval forces during the 12th century reign of King Jayvarman VII, according to the country's tourism website. During the festival, which includes boat races, participants pray for a good rice harvest, enough rain and to celebrate the full moon, the site says. added by: EthicalVegan

John F. Kennedy’s Secret Service Agents Re-Live the Tragic Loss of the President on November 22 1963 | Video

JFK's Secret Service agents reflect on loss of a president From Dugald McConnell and Brian Todd, CNN November 22, 2010 2:33 a.m. EST JFK and the Secret Service STORY HIGHLIGHTS * President John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963 * The Secret Service agents who were in Dallas that day have said little since then * Some of them are now offering their personal recollections of those tragic moments Arlington, Virginia (CNN) — After mostly avoiding the spotlight for decades, many of the former U.S. Secret Service agents who were assigned to protect President John F. Kennedy are now offering their accounts of the day he was assassinated, 47 years ago Monday. After the first shot hit the president, former agent Clint Hill says, “I saw him grab at his throat and lean to his left. So I jumped and ran.” Hill is the man seen running toward the limousine in the famous film of the shooting, captured by a bystander named Abraham Zapruder. Hill jumped onto the back of the presidential car, in a desperate attempt to protect the president. “Just before I got to the car, the third shot hit him in the head.” Hill says.”It was too late.” First lady Jackie Kennedy had climbed onto the back hood of the car, but Hill moved her back into her seat, and attempted to shield the two of them from any further bullets, as the car sped to the hospital. As the president's head lay in her lap, Hill heard Mrs. Kennedy say, “Oh, Jack, what have they done to you?” We couldn't help, but we felt like we failed. It was a terrible feeling. –Jerry Blaine, former Secret Service agent A newly detailed account of the assassination is laid out in the new book “The Kennedy Detail,” by former agent Jerry Blaine, written with journalist Lisa McCubbin, based on interviews with many of the agents who covered Kennedy. Former agent Hill, who has rarely granted interviews about the shooting, wrote a foreword. Blaine and Hill say they are still burdened by the knowledge that they were unable to keep the president safe that day in Dallas, Texas. “We couldn't help, but we felt like we failed,” says Blaine. “It was a terrible feeling.” Hill was commended for the bravery he showed under fire, but even so, he says he holed up for years in his basement with alcohol and cigarettes, feeling guilty that he did not reach the limousine in time to take a bullet for the president. “I felt that there was something I should have been able to do,” he says. “Moved faster, reacted quicker, gotten there just moments quicker, could have made all the difference in the world.” Hill suffered nightmares, but post-traumatic counseling was not yet a common practice. Only with the passing of many years did he gradually recover, telling himself he did the best he could. “You just have to accept it and live with it, the best you can,” he says. Just days before the assassination, Blaine writes, Kennedy chafed at the close proximity of his protective detail. During a motorcade in Tampa, Florida, he asked them not to ride on his limousine. “Have the Ivy League charlatans drop back to the follow-up car,” the president told one of the agents. “We've got an election coming up. The whole point is for me to be accessible to the people.” But Hill and Blaine dismiss the notion that Kennedy's instructions in Tampa jeopardized his security in Dallas. Photos of the motorcade show, regardless of what the president said, Hill was riding on the back of the car during an earlier part of the route. By the time the motorcade reached the stretch of roadway where the assassination occurred, however, agents could no longer ride on the fenders, Blaine says. “We were going into a freeway, and that's where you take the speeds up to 60 and 70 miles an hour. So we would not have had any agents there anyway,” he said. Some of the agents see the book as a chance to counter some of the conspiracy theorists who have never accepted that it was Lee Harvey Oswald who shot the president, and that he acted alone. “There's no question in my mind he was the assassin,” Hill says. “I was there. I know what happened.” Blaine reveals for the first time that on the very same day that Kennedy was killed, newly sworn in President Lyndon Johnson was almost shot as well — accidentally. Just hours after Johnson was sworn in aboard Air Force One, Blaine was guarding his home, after going 40 hours without sleep. “It was about 2:15 in the morning at The Elms, which was Johnson's residence before he became president. I heard all of a sudden a person approaching,” Blaine says. He raised his gun and put his finger on the trigger — only to see Johnson round the corner. “He turned white, he turned around and walked in, and that was the last that was ever said of it,” Blaine says. added by: EthicalVegan
