Danielle Fishel Confirms Girl Meets World Spinoff, Thanks Fans in Letter

The Internet has exploded with joy at the news that Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel signed on to reprise their Boy Meets World roles in a new Disney Channel spinoff. Fishel says it’s all because of those fans that Girl Meets World is being made. The actress, 31, and Savage, 32, will play the married Cory and Topanga Matthews, and the spinoff will be told from the perspective of their teenage daughter, Riley. Rider Strong won’t be back as Shawn, sadly, but there’s always hope for a future cameo. Addressing the show for the first time, Danielle Fishel wrote on Tumblr: First of all, let me say that you, the fans of Boy Meets World, have been awesome. That word is often used incorrectly by people, including myself, on a daily basis but you have truly been awe inspiring. You, yes, even YOU, are the reason that Girl Meets World WILL BE MADE. I do not know how many BMW cast members will be returning for GMW, or how often they may appear if and/or when they do appear. I am going to do my best to not speak for others with this open post. But because I have known Michael Jacobs, Ben Savage, Rider Strong, Will Friedle, and Bill Daniels for 19 years, I know we share many of the same feelings regarding the 7 wonderful years we spent making BMW. Those years were among the most warm, hilarious, insightful, educational years of my life and I wouldn’t trade them for the world. Another thing I wouldn’t trade for anything is the integrity and the heart with which BMW was made. I promise with the entirety of my heart that we will make GMW with the same honesty, innocence, and intelligence that you learned to expect from BMW . Is John Cusack The Next Mo’Nique?

Director Lee Daniels made Oscar magic tapping Mo’Nique for Precious ; the comic and talk-show host took the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress that year in addition to a slew of festival awards (including an acting prize at Sundance, where the film premiered in 2009). Now, Daniels has asked John Cusack to join his anticipated The Butler , playing the role of Richard Nixon. What does Cusack have in mind, and does his own masterpiece await? Good question, as the actor explained to Vulture at Monday’s premiere of The Raven . “I don’t know yet,” Cusack said. “I haven’t figured it out yet. We’re still working on it. You can never really do one definitive thing on a person. Not one movie or even one novel can really sum up a person — it’s just one angle. So I need to get in Lee’s head about what he has in store, because the perspective on [the movie] is people who worked for the president, so it’s a different angle, you know?” Cusack will join Forest Whitaker, who will play the White House butler who served eight U.S. presidents, while Jane Fonda will portray Nancy Reagan (gasp!). Cusack, who will be seen in the upcoming Adult World , is also set to star in another Lee Daniels project, The Paperboy , along with Zac Efron and Matthew McConaughey. [ Vulture ]

‘Dark Shadows’: A Peek Inside Collinwood Manor

Pictures revealing the manor’s entryway and grand staircase have a distinctly old-school Tim Burton feel. By John Mitchell Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer in “Dark Shadows” Photo: Warner Bros. Here we are again, folks. We’re about two months away from the release of “Dark Shadows” and we still don’t have a trailer . It’s a little disconcerting that a film this big and anticipated doesn’t have an official trailer out yet. But since there’s not much we can do about that, let’s talk about the latest thing to creep into the Shadowsverse this week: pictures of Collinwood Manor. For those unfamiliar with the ’60s soap, the manor is the principal setting for the action of “Shadows.” When Barnabas (Johnny Depp) returns to Collinwood in 1972 after, you know, a few centuries buried in a mausoleum, he finds the once-grand estate in disrepair. His dysfunctional descendents who now reside at the grand manor haven’t fared much better. Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has brought psychiatrist Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter) to live at Collinwood to help with her with her family’s assorted troubles, including her rebellious teenage daughter, Carolyn (Chlo

Mandy Moore Signs On For ABC Sitcom

Single-camera comedy will be called ‘Us and Them.’ By Gil Kaufman Mandy Moore Photo: Getty Images Mandy Moore has long bounced between TV, movies and music, and now the “Princess Diaries” co-star is trying her hand at a sitcom. Moore, who has guested on “Scrubs,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “American Dreamz” in the past, will star in the new single-camera sitcom “Us and Them,” according to The Hollywood Reporter . The family comedy is described as the story of the “inherent conflict that exists between the families you grow up in and the ones we make as adults,” told through the perspective of Moore’s newlywed character Anne and her husband, Ben. Among the producers on the show are Jon Leshay, who was a music supervisor on a number of Moore movies, including “Saved!,” “How to Deal” and “A Walk to Remember.” “Night at the Museum” director Shawn Levy will direct and executive-produce the show. Moore voiced the lead character in last fall’s animated Rapunzel tale “Tangled” and appeared on this year’s Academy Awards broadcast singing the Oscar-nominated tune from the movie, “I See the Light.” While her music career has been on hold since 2009’s Amanda Leigh, husband Ryan Adams has just released his 13th studio album, Ashes & Fire, on which she sings backing vocals on the song “Come Home.” Moore is also slated to appear alongside the voices of Elijah Wood, Lance Henriksen and “Entourage” star Emmanuelle Chriqui on the upcoming animated TV series “Tron: Uprising,” which is slated to air on Disney XD next summer. She will voice the character Mara in the show, which takes place between the time of the original film and last December’s re-boot, “Tron: Legacy.” Related Artists Mandy Moore

Aren’t There Better Things To Worry About Than Bert & Ernie? [OPINION]

Follow this link:

For the uninitiated, Bert and Ernie are two of the more recognizable puppets who appear on the PBS children’s program “Sesame Street.” The pair has been a staple on the program since it first aired in 1969. Change.org is a website that describes itself as “an online activism platform for social change that raises awareness about important causes and connects people to opportunities for powerful action.” It is utilized primarily, though not exclusively, by liberal causes. There are a variety of problems with Lair’s petition, which has more than 7,500 signatures. Older Women Marrying Younger Men Growing In Popularity First of all, it assumes Bert and Ernie were created and/or intended to project or promote homosexuality, an assumption Sesame Street strongly denies. In a statement on its Facebook site, Sesame Street insisted its puppets are not intended to have a sexual orientation. “Bert and Ernie are best friends. They were created to teach preschoolers that people can be good friends with those who are very different from themselves. Even though they are identified as male characters and possess many human traits and characteristics (as most Sesame Street Muppets do), they remain puppets, and do not have sexual orientation,” the Sesame Street statement read. The assumptions we make, the conclusions to which we jump, reveal much about our perspective on life, or if you will, the hammers we haul around. People who sit around and contemplate the sexuality of puppets have way too much time on their hands.

Men And Marriage: Why They Are Scared Of The Shackle

Let’s get one thing clear from the jump: men not named George Clooney are not averse to marriage as an institution. The characters in black love flicks (often starring Taye Diggs or Omar Epps) might have folks convinced that men would rather be garroted in the scrotum before they settle down, but that’s not the case….we’re just really, really cautious about who gets the Magic Stick for life. I tried to think of at least five things that freak men out about getting hitched, but for me, it all fits under three umbrellas… Continued at MadameNoire.com

Lady Gaga’s "Judas" – Awesome or Offensive?

Leave it to Lady Gaga, no stranger to getting people talking as it is, to up the ante tenfold this weekend with a controversial new song about “Judas.” Told through the perspective of Mary Magdelene, the lyrics go like this: “In the most Biblical sense / I am beyond repentance / Fame hooker, prostitute wench, vomits her mind / But in the cultural sense / I just speak in future tense / Judas kiss me if offensed / Or wear ear condom next time…” Okay then … Lady Gaga – Judas Gaga’s creative director, Laurieann Gibson, who is religious herself, says they made sure to not offend anyone. Here’s how she describes the song : “It was amazing to have that conversation about salvation, peace and the search for the truth in a room of non-believers and believers, to me, that was saying God is active in a big way. And the place that it came to is surreal.” “We don’t touch on things that we have no right touching upon, but the inspiration, the soul and idea that out of your oppression, your darkness, your Judas, you can come into the marvelous light. So it’s about the inspiration and to never give up.” In conclusion, she says Lady Gaga has “created a new Jerusalem.” Has she? Tell us: What do you think of Gaga’s “Judas”?
