The Game Off The Hook In ‘Flashcalling’ Incident

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will not pursue charges. By Gil Kaufman The Game Photo: Moses Robinson/ WireImage The Game should be gearing up to finally release his long-awaited CD, The R.E.D. Album , but instead he appeared on CNN on Wednesday night to defend himself against charges that he interfered with police business at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Last week, a message appeared on the West Coast rapper’s Twitter feed asking aspiring interns to ring the sheriff’s station in Compton, leading to a flood of calls that reportedly delayed emergency services . The sheriff’s department was considering filing criminal charges against the MC, but on Wednesday, CNN reported that authorities have decided not to pursue legal action after The Game apologized for the incident. Game (born Jayceon Taylor) made his mea culpa on Wednesday, saying the whole thing was a misunderstanding. “It was a simple mishap,” the rapper said. “I was doing a photo shoot, and it was downtown Los Angeles, and one of my boys picked up my phone and started tweeting random numbers,” he said, not naming the person who allegedly set off the incident. “Whenever his phone is laying around and my phone is laying around, we tweet from each other’s page. That’s what happened.” The sheriff’s department followed up with their own statement, in which they praised the one-time 50 Cent prot

Game’s Tweet ‘Interfered’ With Police, Sheriff’s Department Says

Rapper claims a friend accidentally sent tweet of department phone numbers, resulting in ‘overwhelmed’ lines. By Rob Markman The Game (file) Photo: Jason LaVeris/ Getty Images It’s no secret that Game has an itchy Twitter finger, and now a tweet from his account has landed him in hot water with the police. After a message appeared on the West Coast rapper’s Twitter asking aspiring interns to call the sheriff’s station in Compton, the station’s phone lines were flooded with calls. The resulting calls reportedly caused a delay in emergency services, including a missing person report, a spousal assault incident, two robberies and a stolen car incident. Now the sheriff’s department is looking to hit the rapper up with a series of charges. A press release issued to MTV News by the Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department said that the phone calls started at about 5:23 p.m. PT on Friday (August 12) and didn’t subside until a few hours later, at 8. “These needless phone calls interfered with the ability of sheriff’s desk personnel to answer the business line phones and 9-1-1 calls, and for dispatchers to send help to people who really needed it,” said Captain Mike Parker of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau. “We don’t know how many people needed help but couldn’t get through the overwhelmed phone lines.” Parker tweeted the Game directly, alerting him that his initial call-out was jeopardizing public safety. Game, however, told TMZ.com that he wasn’t responsible for the tweet, and that a friend accidently sent the message from the rapper’s phone while he was at a photo shoot on Friday. The sheriff’s department is now presenting their case to the district attorney’s office in consideration of a criminal filing of three charges including annoying or harassing phone calls via electronic device or Internet, delaying or obstructing peace officers in the performance of their duties, and knowingly and maliciously disrupting or impeding communications over a public safety radio frequency. MTV News reached out to Game’s publicist regarding these reports and is still awaiting a response. Related Videos ‘RapFix Live’ With Game, Diddy And Machine Gun Kelly Related Artists The Game

Lil Wayne, Drake Insist ‘She Will’ On New Single

Slow groove features crafty verses by Weezy and a memorable Drake refrain. By Alvin Blanco Lil Wayne recording “She Will” Photo: MTV News Jay-Z and Kanye West are not the only rap duo with clout. Lil Wayne and Drake have their own collaboration in the works, and fans just got a bit of a preview with “She Will,” the latest single from Weezy’s forthcoming Tha Carter IV. Earlier this week, Tunechi released a video, shot by DJ Scoob Doo, that showed behind-the-scenes footage of him recording “She Will” with Drake providing feedback over the phone. The final product, released on Friday (August 12), features a bass-heavy, reverb-bloated slow groove provided by producer T-Minus. The song’s title makes it seem like it’s an ode to a, er, willing woman, and indeed portions of it are. But the “How to Love” rapper/singer also drops savvy bars that don’t necessarily match the theme. “What goes around comes around like a hula hoop/ Karma is a bitch, but just make sure that bitch is beautiful/ Life on the edge, I’m dangling my feet/ I tried to pay attention but attention paid me,” raps Wayne on the first verse. Drake doesn’t drop a verse on the song but performs its chorus, part singing and part rapping, “Do it for the realest n—as in the f—ing game right now she will/ Maybe for the money and the power right now she will,” on a portion of the memorable refrain. Birdman recently told XXLMag.com that Lil Wayne and Drake’s collaboration is definitely a go, though it will have to wait until after their upcoming solo efforts. Drake’s sophomore set, Take Care, is due in stores October 24, while Weezy’s much delayed Tha Carter IV will finally be available on August 29 . The latter’s track list was also recently released, revealing featured performers including T-Pain (“How to Hate”), John Legend (“So Special”) and Bun B, Nas, Shyne and Busta Rhymes on “Outro.” Drake, along with Jadakiss, appears on another song on Tha Carter IV titled “It’s Good.” Related Artists Lil Wayne Drake

My name is Nicole and this is My Bieber Experience. I live in…

My name is Nicole and this is My Bieber Experience. I live in Buffalo, New York. My sister went to a concert that one of the local radio stations in our town was holding with a bunch of different celebrities near Christmas time. She came home, and I asked her if Justin Bieber was there. She said no, but they did play a video of him talking, but she didn’t remember exactly what he said, so I looked it up on YouTube. Sure enough, I found the video. He was in his turquoise shirt, hat and dog tag necklace, explaining about how there was going to be a contest. It was called  School Spirit 2010 . It was a contest between all of the middle & high schools in our district. There were around 57 schools, so it was going to be a tough contest. Each school had to raise money for Woman’s and Children’s Hospital. Whichever school raised the most money,  got to have a private concert with  Justin Bieber  at their school.  Easy right? But that’s where you’re wrong. Yes, we had to raise money….but all in  PENNIES . Once I knew about it, I had a huge doubt that my school would win. A month passed by and I completely forgot about the whole contest, but one day in school, the principal came over the announcements and talked about the contest. I was pretty surprised that people were excited and wanted to participate. Well, at least the girls. Once everyone heard about it, people were bringing pennies in like a storm. We had to drop them off in one classroom and there were buckets and buckets and buckets full of pennies.  I was so shocked!  Every Friday night, at 9:00pm, the DJ on the radio station would keep a countdown of who was in what place so far. Surprisingly, my school and 4 other schools, kept switching places in the  TOP 5 . This continued for the whole contest. The only way we could bring us up more was to have more people bring in more pennies. We tried convincing most of the boys to join in and luckily, they did. Finally, we made it to that special Friday night.  The night where the DJ would announce who won the contest for Justin Bieber to perform at their school . I sat next to the computer, listening with my mom, holding my lucky shirt, crossing my fingers, and squeezing my mom’s hand. The DJ made it down to the top 3. We still didn’t hear our school’s name yet, so we were getting really excited. Luckily, we weren’t in third place. He paused in silence. My heart was beating fast. I could feel myself burning up. And guess what?! We weren’t in second…. WE CAME IN FIRST PLACE!  I screamed so loud and started dancing around like an idiot. I called all of my friends and we screamed on the phone together. It came to Monday and I went to school.  They were playing Justin’s My World CD over the intercom!  They congratulated us and told us when the concert would be taken place on. We waited another whole month and it was finally that time. April 15th, 2010 . I was so excited in the morning that when I was holding my cereal bowl, the milk and spoon were flying everywhere because I was shaking so much. Justin couldn’t come to our school though because his manager preferred somewhere with a stage, so we were going to one of the local theaters. We all hopped on the buses and drove there. Sadly, my homeroom wasn’t in the front row, but we were seated in the 12th row. It was a small theater, so I didn’t end up caring at all. Just to be this close was going to be such an amazing thing. We all waited in the audience and sang different songs until the DJ walked on stage. He got us all excited and then it was that special time. He slowly screamed “ HERE HE IS, JUSTIN BIEBEEERRRRR!!! ” The curtains opened and there was Dan Kanter sitting on a stool with his guitar on the right, and Kenny Hamilton sitting on another stool next to him on the left. Kenny started singing a little bit of One Time and stopped. He said, “Oh ya’ll aren’t here to see me, huh? Well how bout him?” Kenny moved out of the way and Justin came around from the behind the stool where he was hiding behind him. Justin was dressed in all black and he looked cute as ever. The screams got so loud right then and there. I couldn’t believe anything. I felt like I was dreaming.  Like there was no way that THE Justin Bieber was performing for MY school.  He sang ‘One Time’ and then got to ‘Never Let You Go’. At that time, everything felt amazing. Nothing in the world could make me anymore happier. As he began singing, we actually made eye to eye contact. I was staring into his eyes for a long time and we both smiled at eachother. My heart was beating extremely fast like it was about to explode. I felt like I was floating on a cloud. He sang a few more songs and then it was time for him to go. When I went home, I saw that Oprah, and many of the news channels, were talking about my school.  It was the best day of my life! I will NEVER forget that day. It’s gonna be stuck in my head for the longest time.  Thank you Justin, for a dream come true. -@EpicBieberCrew Link: My name is Nicole and this is My Bieber Experience. I live in…

Young Jeezy Reflects On Thug Motivation 101 Debut

‘I wanted to take everybody back,’ Jeezy tells MTV news of staging album-anniversary concerts in NYC and ATL. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Rahman Dukes Young Jeezy Photo: MTV News Young Jeezy sure knows how to throw a birthday bash. To celebrate the six-year anniversary of the release of his 2005 debut album, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101, Jeezy staged a pair of concerts , one in New York City on Monday, and a second on Tuesday, which was actually the anniversary of the album, in Atlanta. “It felt good to see the city out, givin’ everybody something to dress up for, get out have a good time,” the Snowman told MTV News on Tuesday while backstage at his ATL show. “It was definitely a lot of thug motivatin’ going on. Everybody was there for one reason: We were celebrating. It was a celebration. “I just wanted to put somethin’ together that was special,” he said of the tribute shows. “Music is so different nowadays from when I came out. An album would last two or three years, especially when you have a classic like I do,” he added with a chuckle. In NYC, Jeezy thrilled concertgoers as he ran through the TM 101 track list, bringing out special guests like Jay-Z, Kanye West, Bun B, Fabolous and the LOX during the 80-minute show. And for Atlanta, Jizzle brought out Yo Gotti and Lil Scrappy. “I got a lot of what I call family in this industry. It’s a lot of cats that came from the same walk of life that I came from and we really rock like that,” Jeezy said about his star-studded guest list. “We just show that support for each other. I’ve been on tour with a lot of these cats and kick it on the phone with them daily, so it’s phone calls, two, three phone calls,” he said of getting his rap-star friends to participate. When it was released in 2005, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 helped usher in a brand of drug-related, trap rap that has become prevalent in hip-hop in the past six years. Things have definitely changed since Jeezy made his first splash, but he believes his album represents a specific time in hip-hop that may never return. ” ’05 was a beautiful year — for the economy, for the people, for the hood, just working-class, even if you were a street hustler,” Young Jeezy said of his rookie year in rap. “The world is a different place now, so I wanted to take everybody back and give them that feeling, because it’s hard out here. At the same time, just that in the back of your head, knowing when this music was playing what you were doing, help you get through your day again, still motivation.” During his set in NY, Jeezy announced that his long awaited TM 103 will be released on September 20, and on Tuesday, he announced a 26-ctiy tour that will begin in New Orleans on July 31, concluding in Seattle on September 2. Amy Winehouse Reveals Dream Rap Collabos In Rare MTV Interview

Back in 2007, Winehouse hoped to work with Nas, Mos Def and more. By James Montgomery Mos Def and Amy Winehouse Photo: MTV News From the moment she burst onto the international scene with “Rehab,” Amy Winehouse — the British belter who died Saturday in her London apartment — was embraced by the hip-hop community, and she embraced it right back. It wasn’t enough for her to get Jay-Z or Ghostface Killah to appear on remixes of her hits (which she did); she wanted to work with them, record proper tracks with them. This was nothing new, of course: Even before she broke big with her Back to Black album, Winehouse was bringing hip-hop into the fold. She recorded her debut disc, Frank, with producer Salaam Remi (who had worked extensively with Nas and on the Fugees’ epochal The Score ). And her early single “In My Bed” sampled the iconic “Apache” beat from Nas’ Remi-produced “Made You Look.” But, finally riding high on the success of Black, Winehouse hoped to use some of her newfound clout to finally realize some of her hip-hop dreams, as she told MTV News in a May 2007 interview. MTV celebrates Amy Winehouse’s music with a special show this Wednesday. “There’s so many people I’d love to work with: Nas, Mos Def . I’d love to work with Busta Rhymes, I’d love to work with Rah Digga … I love them,” she said. “I learned a lot of stuff about how to write songs from people like that. I just really like them, and if they like my stuff, cool. … If they want to do a track, I’d love to.” Of course, she’d go on to actually make some of those projects happen, in one form or another. She recorded a version of “Love is a Losing Game” with Mos Def during a 2007 performance on MTV — a performance that will re-air on the channel Wednesday (July 27) at 6:30 p.m. ET/PT, as part of a tribute special to Winehouse ‘s musical legacy. She also made headlines when she stepped out with Nas (about whom she sang on the Black track “Me & Mr. Jones”) in London last year. Winehouse was reportedly set to collaborate with Digga on the female rapper’s Sucker Free project, though it’s unclear whatever became of the team-up. And in 2008, Busta famously joked that Winehouse wouldn’t return his phone calls. Celebrate Amy Winehouse on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. ET/PT, when MTV will air an encore presentation of a performance she taped in the MTV studios in 2007. Velvet Sky Gets Hot For Nerd

I don’t follow wrestling, mostly because I’m not a ten year old in the 1980′s, so I don’t know who the hell this Velvet Sky chick is, but she looks very strong in the pectoral area so I like her. Here she is at that Comic-Con thing doing pretty much everything possible to get the nerd vote. I bet R2D2 wishes he had a couple of hands to cop a feel with. Poor little guy. Anyhow, she seems pretty talented. Enjoy.
