MTV Movie Award winners Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks and Alexander Ludwig say whoever is cast has to have ‘a lot of charisma.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Josh Hutcherson arrives at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Robert Pattinson won’t be playing him. Neither will Taylor Kitsch . But there are still plenty of other actors, like Armie Hammer , who could possibly fill the role of dreamy District 4 tribute Finnick Odair in “Catching Fire.” Josh Hutcherson certainly couldn’t pick when MTV News caught up with him after the 2012 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday. “I mean, honestly, I have no idea. I definitely need to re-read the second book,” he said. “I haven’t read it since I first read them, before the first one. So I think I kind of need to read it again to get a better grasp.” His fellow MTV Movie Award winner for Best Fight , Alexander Ludwig, had one person he’d love to see tackle the charming and sexy Finnick. “Whenever I read the books, I always thought Ryan Reynolds would be a great Finnick.” he said. “Ryan Reynolds is just how I pictured.” When asked what characteristics Reynolds or any actor must possess to play the part, he broke it down for us. “I think he’s just got a charisma about him. Whenever I read the books, I was like ‘If I don’t get a [role] in the first one, [then I’d be interested].’ Finnick had always been something I was interested in as a character because he reminds me a little of myself.” “He’s got a really good charisma about him,” he added. “He’s also got that bit of an egotistical edge to him which isn’t like me but I love it as character. It’s hilarious and he’s a really strong character too and he’s a really big part of the second book. He’s the most anticipated character in my mind as well. I can’t wait to see who they cast for him.” Best On-Screen Transformation winner and fellow “HG” star Elizabeth Banks was pretty stumped to have to play casting director for the part. “I don’t [know], honestly,” she said. “Everybody that’s ever been mentioned seems fantastic. I’m sure they’ll find the right fit. I think the cast has come together in such an amazing way so far and I know that their goal is to keep adding the best people and the people that its gonna be great.” So, what does she hope Finn will be like? “You know, just charisma, just a lot of charisma,” she said. “And he’s a looker.” Hutcherson added, “Physically strong, I think that’s a big important thing. I think somebody who’s kind of similar to Peeta in the sense that he knows sort of how to work the situation a little bit. I think the physicality would be really important for Finnick because he’s such an imposing character, for sure.” Jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, gut-busting moments galore. From shirtless strippers to costumed crimefighters, here are the biggest winners and losers of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. By Josh Wigler Joe Manganiello at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Kevork Djansezian/ WireImage You win some, you lose some — and believe us, there were plenty of both at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday. It was a night that ranged from the darkly comedic to the deeply sentimental, with plenty of poorly deployed penis jokes and tear-jerking speeches to be found throughout the show’s two-hour runtime. Long story short: To say that this year’s Movie Awards was eventful is an extreme understatement. Keep reading for our list of all the winners and losers of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. Winner: Russell Brand The show’s producers claimed there were no limits on what he could say and who he could insult, and they were right: Brand was hilariously vicious in his free-flowing assault on the Movie Awards crowd, with highlights ranging from his constant call-outs of “Twilight” and “Hunger Games” to his self-deprecating, Katy Perry-referencing marriage gig. Indeed, he extended a marriage proposal to “X-Men” actor Michael Fassbender — speaking of whom … Loser: Michael Fassbender It’s always wonderful to lay eyes upon the Irish actor, but even his staunchest supporters have to admit that it just wasn’t his night. Fassbender was on the receiving end of many a Fassmember joke, with Brand referencing his “huge, engorged talent” on multiple occasions. He even got his ass kicked onstage by “Prometheus” co-star Charlize Theron ahead of the Best Fight award . For “Shame,” Michael. Winner: “Twilight,” “Harry Potter” and “Hunger Games” Fans Can’t we all just get along? It appears that the answer is yes, we can! All three of these powerhouse franchises walked away from the Movie Awards with wins in major categories. Surprising to few, “Hunger Games” led the pack with Best Male and Female Performance, Best Fight and Best On-Screen Transformation wins; “Potter” walked away with Best Cast and Best Hero; and “Breaking Dawn” snagged Movie of the Year and Best Kiss — the fourth year in a row for both, no less! Loser: Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth and Taylor Lautner Hanging onto that last point for a second longer — where the heck were these guys when KStew was begging for a smooch? Robert Pattinson was nowhere to be found at this year’s show, and Kristen needed a kissing partner to accept her award. Her “Snow White” co-stars weren’t around to help her out, paving the way for the erstwhile Jacob Black to finally make his move — but nada. All three of them struck out without swinging at a single pitch. Loser: Shirtless Channing Tatum Fans It was clear that “Magic Mike” himself wanted to take it all off when he co-presented the Best On-Screen Transformation award with Matthew McConaughey. Alas, it was not meant to be. Blame McConaughey, who was spot-on with his “thanks for ruining all the fun, Dad” impression. Jerk. Winner: Shirtless Joe Manganiello Fans Where Tatum fell short, Big Di– Richie came through in a big way. Like, seriously big — grind-your-junk-all-over-Elizabeth-Banks levels of big . It was worth it for all the “Magic Mike” fans hurting for some manly goodness after Tatum’s disappointing showing. Loser: Mila Kunis’ Heckler Jennifer Aniston may have won Best On-Screen Dirtbag (sorry, Oliver Cooper), but it was the audience member who heckled presenter Mila Kunis who’s truly most deserving of the award. His inaudible remarks visibly shook Kunis and very nearly prompted a physical reaction from her “Ted” co-star Mark Wahlberg. Anyone who attracts the ire of the Boston actor automatically lands on the loser list. Winner: Mark Wahlberg’s Restraint In fact, let’s give a shout-out to Wahlberg for not losing his cool and getting all medieval on the Kunis heckler’s you-know-what. When Wahlberg caught up with MTV News after the incident, he explained his restraint: “I did say somebody was going to get slapped, but I figure it’s Sunday, I went to church, I’m feeling forgiving right now.” A far cry from the guy who appeared on “The Knife Show” two years ago. Loser: Johnny Depp’s Missing Gold Tooth We kid, we kid. (Although we do hope Depp found that thing eventually.) True to Depp’s unorthodox but awesome nature, the Generation Award winner accepted his new title by rocking out super hard alongside the Black Keys , delivering the single-most rocking performance of Movie Awards night — not an easy achievement considering the badass performances from Wiz Khalifa and Fun. earlier in the evening. Winner: “The Dark Knight Rises” Fans Listen, kids — we promised you some awesome, exclusive, never-before-seen footage from the Batman conclusion, and we did not disappoint. Let us recount the amazingness: Batman and Catwoman teaming up, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s John Blake interrogating Selina Kyle, Bane preventing anyone from entering Gotham City with a massive barricade of cars — and that’s not even mentioning the presentation of the footage, which included a tear-felt acknowledgement of the late Heath Ledger and universal applause for “Dark Knight” steward Christopher Nolan. It was an epic, unforgettable way to salute what is arguably the greatest comic book movie franchise in history one last time. Jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, gut-busting moments galore. Logan Lerman, Ezra Miller and Watson debuted film’s first trailer during MTV Movie Awards. By Amy Wilkinson, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Logan Lerman arrives at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Emma Watson and Logan Lerman for Movie Awards Best Kiss in 2013? It could happen! The two actors, along with co-star Ezra Miller , were on hand at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards pre-show to introduce the first trailer for their coming-of-age film ” The Perks of Being a Wallflower ,” an adaptation of Stephen Chbosky’s 1999 novel published by MTV Books. The story centers around introverted Charlie (Lerman), who’s lured out of his shell by step-siblings Sam (Watson) and Patrick (Miller) and introduced to a world of sex, drugs and, of course, rock and roll. Charlie nurses an unrequited crush on newfound friend Sam throughout most of the narrative. And while the trailer only hinted at a few tender moments shared between the two characters, you better believe there will be some lip-locking to be had when the movie hits theaters September 14. And according to Lerman, those scenes weren’t too hard to handle. “It happened in front of a crew, and people were there, and we did it a few times. And that was it,” Lerman recalled of his cinematic smooch with Watson. “It’s kind of odd when you’re doing it for a movie. It’s kind of weird. She’s cool. It wasn’t as awkward as it could have been. It’s Emma Watson, so I’m a lucky guy.” Yet, Lerman couldn’t help but wonder what it would have been like had his impressions of the moment been less than savory. “What if I was complaining, though? ‘Oh, God. I had to kiss that girl!’ ” he joked. We have a feeling a number of actors would have been happy to take your place, Logan. Jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, gut-busting moments galore. It was an unofficial and unexpected passing of the ‘Anger Management’ torch between Sheen and Sandler backstage with MTV News. By Josh Wigler, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Charlie Sheen and Adam Sandler backstage at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards Photo: MTV News UNIVERSAL CITY, California — All manner of Golden Popcorn trophies were passed around on the stage of the Gibson Amphitheatre at the MTV Movie Awards this year, but there were plenty of wins to be found behind the scene as well — such as the one between comedy titans Adam Sandler and Charlie Sheen. MTV News’ Josh Horowitz spoke with Sandler, Andy Samberg and Leighton Meester backstage at the Movie Awards and asked them all about their upcoming comedy “That’s My Boy.” The hard-R-rated comedy has been a hot topic in our circle all week long (we hosted an exclusive premiere of “That’s My Boy” during Sneak Peek Week, you’ll recall), and this was one of our first opportunities to speak with Sandler about the flick — but the Happy Madison founder left it to his younger co-star Samberg to summarize what fans can expect from the film. “Do you like raucous rock-and-roll humor that makes you whizz your pants with laughter? Then maybe you should see this movie,” the former “SNL” star advised. Speaking of raucous rock-and-roll humor, the “That’s My Boy” interview reached an abrupt conclusion when party boy Charlie Sheen , on hand to bestow Instant Cult Classic status upon found-footage party movie “Project X,” unexpectedly showed up to meet and greet his old friend, Sandler. “Charlie!” Sandler happily reacted. “Me and Charlie, baby! Good to see you!” Sheen, subdued but pleased, embraced his old pal and kept chatting with him as he passed by. “I gotta go get assigned to my seat, man,” he said. “Are you here all night?” While the two were speaking, Samberg couldn’t help but observe a secret connection between the reunited actors: Sheen is starring in an adaptation of “Anger Management,” Sandler’s 2003 comedy of the same name. “This is as exclusive as it gets, you guys,” Samberg laughed at the camera. ” ‘Anger Management’ franchise much?” When Sandler returned to the “That’s My Boy” interview, he laughingly brushed off the jabs Samberg was sending his way. “Charlie and I were hanging,” he grinned. “What do you need from me? That’s an old friend! We’re old friends, man! You’re new friends!” “Un-be- ree -vable,” Samberg said with feigned disappointment. Jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, gut-busting moments galore. WATCH: Charlie Sheen Crashes Adam Sandler Movie Awards Interview
From Twilight to Teen Mom, no pop-culture stone was left unturned. By Terri Schwartz Russell Brand hosts the 2012 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Russell Brand might have to host every MTV awards show from here on out! The 2012 MTV Movie Awards were immediately off to a good start thanks to Brand’s , and he kept the jokes rolling throughout the rest of the two-hour-long show. In honor of Brand’s sharp witticisms, we’ve put together a list of his nine best jokes that kept us laughing long after he finished telling them. Twilight! Hunger Games! When Brand first walked out onto the Movie Awards stage and started yelling, ” Twilight! Hunger Games!” we figured he was off Andy Samberg. Instead, as he said later in the monologue, he was using them because “these words generate goodwill.” They certainly did, as he used them repeatedly over the course of the night. It’s the End of the World as We Know It “Tonight is an important ceremony because according to the Mayans, the world will end in December this year,” Brand pointed out. “If Earth hurtles into the sun and humanity is destroyed, we will all say as one: We had the MTV Movie Awards 2012 and it was worth it! ” Yes we can, and yes we will. Justin Bieber Is the Man The first pop-culturally relevant moment Brand brought up in his opening monologue was Justin Bieber’s recent attack on a member of the paparazzi. “Justin Bieber beat up a paparazzi. Well done, Justin!” he said. Brand went on to say that he didn’t think he’d ever be able to hit Biebs if he fought him because the 18-year-old is “so pretty” that “even if he was attacking me, I think I would do a little orgasm.” Well, to each his own. Kann-Yay and Kim Brand was quick to thank Kim Kardashian for making his short-lived marriage to Katy Perry not seem so bad in the scheme of things, but he then went on to beg the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star and her new boyfriend Kanye West — whose first name he repeatedly mispronounced ” Kann -Yay” — to make a sex tape. “I think of Kim Kardashian as the Stanley Kubrick of sex tapes,” Brand said. “They’re always brilliant, but he only does one a decade.” Brand’s Special “Grease” Tribute Nothing was off limits during the Movie Awards, not even John Travolta’s recent sex scandal . After saying that “Rock of Ages” is the best movie since “Grease,” Brand said he honored that film by giving Travolta a massage. “He needed it, man. He was so stiff, I’m telling ya!” Brand said. Michael Fassbender and His Penis He claimed he never noticed Fassbender’s “huge, engorged talent as I was staring at his massive co–.” That must have been why he decided the “Prometheus” star was going to be the next celebrity he married following hosting an MTV awards show. Sorry, Katy! Taking Advantage of Charlie Sheen’s Old Addictions Charlie Sheen was a great sport during Brand’s opening monologue, especially since the Brit repeatedly took jabs at the “Anger Management” star’s recent problems. “I’ve taped a bottle of Hennessy and a gram of coke under your chair. In case I start going crazy, just nick it and do a couple of lines. Release the tiger blood hero!” Brand said to resounding laughter. Our New Host: Julianne Hough’s Nephew One of the best parts of the night came when a behind-the-scenes shot showed Brand coaching Julianne Hough’s nephew and date for the night to replace him as host. According to Brand, all you need to do to be a great Movie Awards host is talk about farts a lot . And the cutest part is that it was all improvised “! “Teen Mom” Vs. “Teen Wolf” As you probably realized once the 2012 MTV Movie Awards wrapped, the show wasn’t followed by “Teen Mom,” but rather by the season-two premiere of “Teen Wolf.” Whoops! We can’t tell if his gibes at “Teen Mom” instead of “Wolf” were intentional or a mistake, but we still can’t get over his joke, “Do stay tuned after the show for the new season of Teen Mom, where pregnant women are laughed at for money!” Jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, gut-busting moments galore. Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney joke about forming a T. Rex cover band with Depp and Matthew McConaughey. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Johnny Depp and the Black Keys perform at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images UNIVERSAL CITY, California — The 2012 MTV Movie Awards only just ended, but we can’t get over the epic onscreen performance/award presentation between the Black Keys and Johnny Depp. Not to mention the fact that they were introduced by rock gods Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith. When MTV News caught up with the Keys themselves, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, backstage after their performance, we asked them how they were feeling after coming offstage. “Super normal, that’s a normal moment for us,” Auerbach joked. “Yeah that’s our normal lives, hanging out with rock stars and movie stars, you know. It was actually a little boring.” “I was trying to hold back yawns,” added Carney. We then tried to get to the bottom of how the unexpected collaboration came to fruition, but even the Keys themselves seemed to have no idea. “I don’t know, I think MTV has a random computer generator,” Auerbach joked, with Carney chiming in, “It was supposed to be us and Regis Philbin, but we rejected it.” In all seriousness, the duo had nothing but praise for their guest star, particularly his preparation and skills on the guitar. “He’s a really good guitar player,” Carney said. “Yeah, no joke. He’s a really good guitar player,” Auerbach reiterated. So now that they’ve played with one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, what other movie stars will the Keys be collaborating with in the future? “Matthew McConaughey on bongos,” Carney joked. “We’re going to start a T. Rex cover band with Johnny Depp and Matthew McConaughey as Mickey Finn.” And now that they’ve finished their work for the night, will the guys be meeting up with Depp after the show? “We’re all going to go meet up at Se

Actor chokes up after seeing late ‘Dark Knight’ co-star Ledger in clip at 2012 MTV Movie Awards. By John Mitchell Christian Bale on stage at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Kevork Djansezian/ WireImage The cast of “The Dark Knight Rises” took the stage at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards to introduce an exclusive clip from the hotly anticipated summer blockbuster, but things took an unexpectedly emotional turn following a montage of director Christopher Nolan’s first two “Batman” films, which included scenes of the late Heath Ledger’s iconic performance as the Joker in “The Dark Knight.” At the clip’s conclusion, Christian Bale, flanked by his co-stars Gary Oldman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, stepped up to the mic and said, “Wow, great to remember Heath at that moment. Wonderful to see Heath Ledger there.” The Oscar-winning actor then lowered his head and appeared to get choked up as the audience applauded for Ledger, who died in January 2008 at age 28 from an acute intoxication from the combined effects of several prescription medications. A few months after his passing, “The Dark Knight” arrived in theaters to critical acclaim and enormous box-office success. Ledger’s performance in “The Dark Knight” won the actor a posthumous Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. After stepping back from the mic for a moment of silence, the actor wiped his nose and soldiered on. “The final chapter of ‘The Dark Knight’ has been written,” he continued, before deferring to Gordon-Levitt, who brought Nolan onstage to introduce the exclusive new peek at “The Dark Knight Rises.” Jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, gut-busting moments galore. We look back at last year’s biggest moments before the MTV Movie Awards go live tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT. By Kara Warner Robert Pattinson kisses Taylor Lautner at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage UNIVERSAL CITY, California — All week long, we’ve been getting you pumped up for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards with performer interviews, behind-the-scenes reveals and much more. We are soclose to show time, you can almost hear the squeals coming from inside the Gibson Amphitheatre. While we await the start of our “Punk’d Movie Awards Pre-Party” at 8 p.m. tonight and the snazzy red-carpet arrivals, let’s take a moment to walk down the memory lane of last year’s action-packed extravaganza: A Host With the Most “Saturday Night Live” funnyman Jason Sudeikis proved to be as adept in awards-show hosting as he is with being a chameleon-esque comic with his various characters on “SNL.” Sudeikis kept his jokes light and fun, with a couple of well-placed jabs at 2011 newsmaker Arnold Schwarzenegger and the “Twilight” cast. Unsolicited Smooches and Groping 1. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have dominated the Best Kiss category for the past three years and delivered their best acceptance speech yet last year when Pattinson decided not to kiss Stewart and instead went running into the audience to plant a wet one on his co-star Taylor Lautner. 2. When “Friends with Benefits” co-stars Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake walked out to present the award for Best Male Performance, no one guessed that their presentation would include a mutual groping of Kunis’ boobs and Timberlake’s nether regions for everyone to see, but they did, and that moment lives on in infamy. The “Deathly Hallows, Part 2” Clip The most magical moment of last year’s broadcast was an exclusive and highly anticipated preview of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” Potter fans were treated to an emotionally charged sneak peek at the final film in the blockbuster franchise with the debut of an explosive new clip. Jim Carrey We can always count on Jim Carrey to deliver a memorable moment when he attends the Movie Awards. There’s his unforgettable appearance in 1999 when he had everyone fooled with a clever disguise, and last year, Carrey brought down the house with a perfect blend of innovation and comedy via his green suit that featured a series of random and inappropriate images on it while Carrey introduced the Foo Fighters. The Foo Fighters The performance slot at the MTV Movie Awards is one of the most coveted and sought-after for artists new and old. For last year’s marquee act, we enlisted one of the biggest acts in the business and a band with a storied history with MTV: the Foo Fighters, who rocked the house with their rousing live rendition of “Walk.” Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to cast your vote for Best Hero and Best Movie now! The “Movie Awards Punk’d Pre-Party” starts at 8 p.m. ET, followed by the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards live tonight at 9 p.m. ET!
