Forgive us, but we have to say it: Welcome to Gotham, bitches! Sorry. But with Ben McKenzie of The OC prominently involved in this new Fox series, it simply had to be said. McKenzie, of course, is involved as Commissioner Detective James Gordon, as the drama is taking quite the risk by airing a Batman series… without the presence of Batman. Yes, on Gotham Season 1 Episode 1 , we were introduced to a 12-year old Bruce Wayne, once again witnessing the murder of his famous parents. Unlike the film versions of this iconic story, however, we didn’t fast forward beyond that killing. We stayed in the present day and watched as Gordon comforted the child, telling him to be strong and promising that there will be “light” to overcome the city’s “darkness.” Someday. But viewers know it will take a very long time to ever get there, as villains such as The Penguin, The Riddler, Poison Ivy and Catwoman already reside in Gotham, just as children. The series will focus on their transformation into bad guys who will eventually do battle with Batman. It will also focus heavily on McKenzie’s Gordon and Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, a veteran cop who has a tight relationship with Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith), a leading mobster in town. But is he truly corrupt? Or he just doing what he can to survive? Or is Bullock playing some kind of long con where he bides his time and then swoops in to rescue the residents of Gotham? Both McKenzie and Logue are perfectly case in their roles, with their partnership enough to carry this series even if it didn’t have any connection to Batman. However, it’s Robin Lord Taylor who steals the opening episode as Oswald Cobblepot, the young man who will grow into The Penguin. He hates that nickname at the moment, though, as we see him try to overtake Smith’s Mooney during the opening hour. He isn’t successful, but the premiere concludes with Cobblepot killing an innocent fisherman and then the camera panning to a dark Gotham City, teasing a series of dangerous events to come. With solid performances and an intriguing concept, Gotham is one of the few fall pilots that appears to be very promising. We thought that before seeing the premiere and we think it now. Jada Pinkett-Smith may think there’s no cause to be concerned about the photo of her daughter Willow Smith in bed with Moises Arias , a 20-year-old actor and friend of the family, but the Los Angeles Department of Child and Family Services reportedly begs to differ. A source tells Radar Online that Child Protective Services is investigating the Smith family in connection with the controversial photo that leaked online earlier this month. “The investigation was formally opened last week and is being taken very seriously by the department,” says the insider. “Will and Jada have been extremely cooperative with officials. Of course, they aren’t happy that their parenting skills are under scrutiny, but they understand.” The source adds that both Willow and Arias will be interviewed by the authorities: “Social workers will be talking separately with Willow, and they also want to talk to the young man in the picture with her as well. This won’t just be one or two visits with the family…It will likely be an open investigation for at least a month.” Jada Pinkett Smith claimed there was “nothing sexual” about the photo when she spoke to reporters at LAX shortly after the picture was revealed online. In less controversial Smith family news, Will helped a young fan announce her pregnancy online today. Hopefully questions about Will’s parenting skills haven’t caused her to regret her method of sharing her big news:

Willow Smith has already been caught running around looking a little too grown for her own good, but she recently took it a step further when she was snapped on IG with a shirtless 20-year-old actor. Wonder what Will has to say about this? As TMZ reports: Will Smith’s 13-year-old daughter took a pic in bed that’s raising a lot of eyebrows … because she’s laying next to a topless 20-year-old man. In the photo … Willow Smith is in bed — fully clothed and on top of the covers — and an actor named Moises Arias is sitting next to her sans shirt. Moises — best known for his role as Rico on “Hannah Montana” — and Willow don’t appear to be touching each other in the black and white shot he posted on Instagram … still it’s a strange scene. Moises eventually deleted his IG post — but other people have reposted it and called the image perverted. It appears the pic was taken by Moises and Willow’s friend … who posted the bed photo and several others of Willow, Jaden Smith and the Jenner girls. We’ve reached out to Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s reps to find out what’s going on — but haven’t heard anything back yet. We’ve seen Moises hanging with the Smith kids before but seems like someone got a little too comfortable. We know Will and Jada have more lax views on parenting than most…but dang! Doesn’t Jada know people will cut you down to the white meat over their God? According to Rolling Out: Jada Pinkett Smith recently caused a stir on Facebook after she posted an “inspirational” status update that to some seemed to be anti-Christianity. “We are born with our souls, but it is through our experiences in life that we are given the opportunity to discover the paths needed to develop the self,” wrote Smith. “In order to do this we must not belong to the obedient…we must belong to our truth.” And while over 42,000 people liked the comment, several fans spoke out against her words and ordered her to reconnect with God and study the bible. “This is not the truth, so many lost souls. We must be obedient to God and follow his will for our lives!” wrote one fan. “We are to be obedient to God,” added another. Jada and her family have long been rumored to be a part of the Church of Scientology. In 2008, the Smiths funded a school that taught children under the principles of “Study Technology,” a concept created by the Church of Scientology’s founder Ron L. Hubbard.
