Planned Parenthood and Connie Britton are teaming up on a new t-shirt asking, in reference to her famous TV character: What would Tami Taylor do? Available for the month of July, the shirt reading “WWTTD? What Would Tami Taylor Do?” is designed to allow others to show support for Texas women. The back of the t-shirt boasts the URL standwithtexaswomen (dot) org. Connie, who currently stars on ABC’s Nashville , said in a statement: “The character Tami on Friday Night Lights is a Texas woman deeply committed to her community and to standing up for what is right for her neighbors and the people she loves.” “I have been inspired by how people around the country have united to stand with the women of Texas.” “I can’t help but think that, in this moment, we all have the opportunity to join with and become strong, powerful Texas men and women.” Britton’s partnership with Planned Parenthood was clearly motivated by the the Texas state legislature’s aims to impose restrictions on abortion . The proposed law, while not banning abortion, makes one so difficult to obtain that it would effectively shut down 36 of 42 clinics in the Lone Star State. State Senator Wendy Davis (D) made headlines with a 13-hour filibuster that stopped the legislation, but Gov. Rick Perry (R) has vowed to pass it. After what many felt was a cheap shot at Davis, Perry called for another session of the legislature starting today in hopes of getting the bill signed. The bill’s future is unclear, but it’s already started a movement. “These laws threaten women’s health and safety,” Dawn Laguens, executive vice president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund, said in a statement. “Like people across the country, Connie Britton saw thousands of Texans stand up last week and demand to be heard, and she wanted to stand with them.” “She’s partnering with Planned Parenthood Action Fund on this shirt so that people all across the country can show their support.”

This is really fucking strange…. I know some people who have lost kids in the shooting and I am the first person who hates the media and don’t believe anything I am told by the media…it is population control and brainwashing…I believe a lot of the conspiracies….I mean Kim Kardashian proves that the general public buys into shit they see on TV everyday….but I am pretty sure kids were killed in the Sandy Hook shooting…whether planned, strategic, or whatever….They are saying it is to ban guns, for the democrats to win, they are even tying in GE cuz the killers dad was a VP there…. Michael Phelps stepped out with Megan Rossee on his arm last night in London. The newly-retired Olympic swimming legend, whose work in these games (and all future games) is done, made his red carpet debut with his very pretty, newly-revealed girlfriend at an event for Speedo, one of Phelps’ primary sponsors. It’s a sad day for poor women in America. The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, a leading charity for breast cancer, has announced that it is ending its partnership with Planned Parenthood. The change will mean a cutoff of hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants, mainly for breast exams. The decision sparked an outcry from abortion rights advocates blaming “political pressure” and praise from an anti-abortion group. The move comes less than a year after Komen hired a new vice president, who has publicly stated her opposition to abortion, a service provided at some Planned Parenthood facilities. Komen has a long history of providing funding to various Planned Parenthood affiliates for such services as manual breast exams and referrals for mammograms and biopsies to check suspicious lumps for cancer. Although that money is not used for abortions, the Komen Foundation may have yielded to demands from antiabortion groups to sever its ties to Planned Parenthood. The Komen Foundation argues that their reason for cutting ties with Planned Parenthood is that they do not want to be involved with an organization that is being investigated by the government, after Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Fl.) launched an inquiry to determine where Planned Parenthood public money goes. Clearly, no one is considering the health and welfare of less privileged women in this country?
