Angelina Jolie has spent plenty of time in Washington, D.C., as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, but yesterday, she visited the White House with Brad Pitt. There, they enjoyed a private meeting with President Barack Obama! The leader of the free world and Hollywood’s most famous couple dissected the New Hampshire primary . Kidding. They discussed a cause dear to Angelina’s heart … The plight of women caught up in war zones – such as the one depicted in her film The Land of Blood and Honey – and how the U.S. can get involved combating mass violence against civilians in troubled areas was Brangelina’s reason for visiting. Pitt, who has consulted with Obama regarding his plans for the redevelopment of New Orleans’ hurricane-ravaged Lower Ninth Ward, talked about that as well. ‘We want to make the same music. It’s definitely a very good experience,’ Drake tells MTV News. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Felicia “The Poetess” Morris Drake Photo: MTV News Drake and Rick Ross have a lot on their plates these days. But in between promoting Take Care and Rozay putting the finishing touches on his upcoming album, Drizzy hopes that the two MCs can finish up their collaborative mixtape Y.O.L.O. (You Only Live Once) . “Yeah, it only makes sense, so hopefully. I’m actually going to Miami to see him this week, sit down and work on God Forgives and just work on whatever comes,” Drake told MTV News of the tag-team tape while backstage Power 106’s Cali Christmas Concert on Friday night. “Me and him usually do a few songs, so we’ll see where they end up.” The two rap stars have paired on a number of fan favorites, like DJ Khaled’s “I’m On One,” Rozay’s “Aston Martin Music” and most recently “Lord Knows” from Take Care . For Drake it’s all about their comfort while recording together. “If I have chemistry with anyone in the studio it’s Ross. We want to make the same music. It’s definitely a very good experience,” he said. In a November interview on “RapFix Live,” the Maybach Music head assured that Y.O.L.O. was definitely coming. At the time, he was flirting with the idea of the project becoming an official retail release. “You know, Drake, I consider him a part of the fam. It’s not just music,” Ross said. “We stay in the studio, we stay on Skype.” Last week, Ross took to Twitter to announce his plans for a new solo mixtape as well. “It’s Official Drop’n New Mixtape!!! #RozayNewTape,” he wrote. Singer performs ‘Marry the Night’ in gown that makes her appear headless. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga performs on “X Factor” UK Photo: itv Lady Gaga lost her head on Sunday night when she took the stage on “X Factor UK” to perform “Marry the Night.” Gaga, decked out in a gown that made her appear headless, emerged from a crypt as torches burned around the stage. Her dancers did most of the heavy lifting in the movement department, while Gaga let all the action happen around her, standing in the middle of the stage donning the unusual costume. As the song closed out, Gaga went back in the box and came back out in just a black bodysuit, finally getting in on the dancing for the gothic performance of the Born This Way track, an ode to her hometown of New York. After the performance, Gaga confirmed that she was deep into the planning stages for her next tour. “I’m gonna be here [in Britain] next year for my next tour. I just finished designing the stage and it’s bigger and better than ever,” she said on the show. “I’m so happy. I can’t wait to see you all there.” In addition to tour plans, Gaga took to Twitter to confirm that she’s near completion on two upcoming projects, her video for “Marry the Night” as well as her forthcoming Thanksgiving special . “Been up all night editing my first TWO films as director!” she wrote. “Marry The Night Video + ‘A Very Gaga Thanksgiving’ the 2nd airing on thanksgiving!” She teased the “Marry the Night” clip last night in a still photograph, in which she appeared to be rolled down a hallway on a gurney. Gaga made other headlines Monday (November 14) when it was announced that she had split from longtime creative director Laurieann Gibson . MTV News confirmed the split between the longtime collaborators. The singer noted on Twitter that she is now working with Gibson’s former #2, Richard Jackson. Perry and Diego Luna play star-crossed lovers in the moody clip. By Jocelyn Vena Diego Luna and Katy Perry in “The One That Got Away” music video Photo: Capitol Records Katy Perry ‘s moody, contemplative clip for “The One That Got Away” perfectly encapsulates both the joy of falling in love and the heartbreak of letting go. It travels through time and space and recalls the story of Perry’s one that got away. Directed by Floria Sigismondi (who also directed Perry’s trippy “E.T.” clip ), the video opens with Katy, decked out in old-lady makeup, returning home from a trip as her husband (who viewers quickly realize isn’t the guy Perry thought she’d end up with) asks how it went. She then walks up the stairs of her contemporary mansion to reflect on the past. As she settles into her place at home, little things begin to remind her of him: notably a heart tattoo on her arm. From there, viewers are taken back in time, as Perry recalls her fiery, sexy love affair with her artist beau, played by Mexican movie star Diego Luna . In this past life, Perry and Luna, both painters, would create their art side by side, acting as each other’s muse. In between painting pictures, the two share moments and enjoy life: making out, giggling, tattooing one another, crashing parties and falling asleep in one another’s arms. For much of the video, things seem perfect between the pair. However, all good things must come to an end. Eventually, their art splits them up: As he grows more creative and she becomes frustrated with it, they no longer can connect emotionally. From there, the fighting begins, culminating in the ultimate argument. As he drives away from their scuffle, still fired up, he looks down at a memento of hers, takes his eyes off the road for a quick second, and tragically and unexpectedly crashes off a cliff, leaving no chance for reconciliation. The video closes with Katy driving Luna’s old car. She eventually goes to the scene of the tragedy as Johnny Cash’s “You Are My Sunshine” plays. As an old Katy looks over that cliff, the sun radiating over her, she’s visited by the ghost of her one true love and, for a moment, feels the love they once shared. The video premiered online and on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Friday, when Perry not only announced plans to hold a free show at L.A.’s Staples Center on November 23 called “Katy Perry Gives Thanks,” but also talked a bit about her plans to start a family with hubby Russell Brand . By Alvin Blanco Heavy D in 1991 Photo: Ron Galella / Getty Images Plans for Heavy D’s funeral services are being made, and his sendoff will be small and intimate with close friends and family only. The beloved rapper, born Dwight Errington Myers, will be laid to rest next Friday, November 18, in the New York area. TMZ reports that Heav’s family will be holding a public viewing the Thursday before the funeral for fans to catch a last glimpse of the “Now That We Found Love” rapper. Heavy’s burial services Friday will be invite-only. The surviving Boyz of Heavy D & the Boyz — DJ Eddie F and dancer G-Wiz — will be in attendance. While calling into MTV News’ “RapFix Live,” Eddie explained the universal appeal of his late friend. “The thing that he did that may be apparent, but maybe a lot of people didn’t pay attention to it, he was the type of rapper like the hardest, hardest, hard rock was a fan of his, and he would move on the street,” Eddie F told MTV News. “But then he was also respectful, and your mother, your grandmother could listen to Heavy D.” Also sure to attend the funeral will be Sean “Diddy” Combs and Mary J. Blige, who both worked with the Overweight Lover while he was at Uptown Records. The Wayans brothers are on the list of select attendees, according to TMZ; Heav famously penned and performed the theme music to the Wayans’ “In Living Color” sketch-comedy show. We’re sure they gladly chunked the “Deuces” to Chris and his shenanigans… Remember back over the summer when we reported that Breezy’s neighbors weren’t fawking with him behind his parking in handicapped spots? Well, they can now breathe a collective sigh of relief. Breezy has left the building…for good! According to TMZ reports : Chris Brown is waving the white flag, because we found out he moved out of the West Hollywood condo in which he was at war with his neighbors. Brown’s neighbors were complaining bitterly that he was parking in handicapped spots, playing music at ear-shattering levels at all hours of the night and even defacing property. Brown has denied committing any misdeeds. Neighbors tell us …. they’re “ecstatic” to see him go … but Chris has not sold the unit, and we don’t know his plans. Damn Chris, don’t let them white folks run you out of ya own home!! Speaking of “Oh Happy Day” this is always good for a laugh…
Singer will perform eight songs on ABC’s ‘A Very Gaga Thanksgiving,’ on November 24. Lady Gaga Photo: Alo Ceballos/FilmMagic It’s going to be “A Very Gaga Thanksgiving.” No, that’s not some joke about your Aunt Frannie showing up in a turkey dress for the annual family gathering, it’s the actual name of the 90-minute prime time Lady Gaga Thanksgiving special that will air on ABC on November 24. The show, which will team Gaga with veteran TV news announcer Katie Couric, was, of course, conceived and directed by Mother Monster herself and will feature the singer performing eight songs in front of a small audience of her friends and family, according to a press release announcing the show. Couric will also sit down for an interview in which she asks Gaga about the inspiration for some of her songs as the two chat at Gaga’s New York alma mater, Sacred Heart Catholic School. “We all know Lady Gaga is a phenomenon,” Couric said in a statement. “This is a chance to see more of who she is beneath the wild costumes and staged musical numbers … Lady Gaga as a high school student still bruised by being excluded from the party, Lady Gaga as a devoted daughter and caring sister, Lady Gaga as a 25-year-old woman embracing fame and fortune that seemed to come overnight. She will impress you, delight you and surprise you.” In addition to her new single, “Marry the Night,” and other songs from Born This Way (“You and I,” “The Edge of Glory”), Gaga will perform “White Christmas” and her duet with Tony Bennett, “The Lady Is a Tramp.” Chef Art Smith will also drop in to share some recipes on the special, including his holiday classic, deep-fried turkey and waffles. The always busy Mother Monster has other plans cooking up this month. She’ll hit the U.K. “X Factor” for a performance on Sunday, November 13, where’ll also sing “Marry the Night.” Related Videos Lady Gaga: Inside The Outside Track By Track: Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Related Artists Lady Gaga
