By MTV News staff Taylor Lautner Photo: MTV For a while, Taylor Lautner was pretending he wouldn’t be able to make it to the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. Of course, faithful members of Team Jacob know how that turned out: The “Twilight” star was on hand to present an exclusive “Eclipse” clip, take the stage to accept a Best Movie win for “New Moon” and take part in a ridiculous spoof with Robert Pattinson called “Bad-Ass Cops.” But in the run-up to the big show, Lautner had some fun, during an MTV promo, suggesting he might have other plans for his evening — plans that didn’t make Tom Cruise very happy. As we count down the days until “MTV First: Taylor Lautner” hits the air and the Web on Wednesday, April 13, at 7:56 p.m. — and count off our favorite encounters with the young star — we hauled the promo out of our archives because: A) It still makes us laugh, and B) It’s Taylor’s #5 MTV moment. In the promo, Cruise’s egomaniacal alter-ego, Les Grossman, finishes ripping “Avatar” director James Cameron a new one — “I want it in 4-D! Do it,” he screams — and turns to Lautner to discuss the upcoming Movie Awards. “Les, we already talked about this, remember?” Lautner tells him. “My agents told you that weekend is my best friend’s wedding.” “Understood. All cool,” Les says, and brings in a schlubby fella he says will stand in for Lautner at the wedding. Despite Taylor’s skepticism, Grossman says that everything’s going to work out, then offers up his fists for Tay-Tay to pound. By Alvin Blanco Big Sean Photo: Theo Wargo/ WireImage “RapFix Live” is back Thursday at 4 p.m. ET, and our special guest is G.O.O.D. Music/ Def Jam rapper Big Sean. The Detroit MC and 2010 XXL Freshmen 10 alum will be fresh from rocking South by Southwest this past weekend with Jay-Z and his G.O.O.D Music family, including mentor Kanye West. Big Sean first made a name for himself about four years ago when his song “Getcha Some” was a standout on West’s Can’t Tell Me Nothing mixtape. After catching Yeezy at a radio station and impressing him with an impromptu audition, Sean passed on a scholarship to Michigan State University to tour with West and eventually signed with the Chicago rapper’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint in 2007. Since then, Sean has released three volumes of his Finally Famous mixtapes ( The Mixtape, U Know Big Sean and BIG ) to keep his fans satiated, and he was also a regular on West’s G.O.O.D. Friday music leaks. After a few delays, Sean’s long-in-the-making debut album, Finally Famous: The Album, has an official release date of May 3. Right now, Sean can be heard on the album’s No I.D.-produced lead single “My Last,” which features R&B crooner Chris Brown. “I’ve seen and [gone] from doing shows in Detroit and getting booed to people just looking to a couple people knowing the words to doing sold-out shows with thousands and thousands of people just knowing [my songs],” Sean told MTV News from the set of the video for “My Last.” “And it [comes from] years of grinding, man.” Sean performed the song at SXSW and the Detroit spitter also has a verse on West’s soon to be released “All of the Lights” remix with Drake and Lil Wayne . Nate Dogg Funeral, Benefit Planned For This Weekend

By Jayson Rodriguez, with additional reporting by Rahman Dukes Nate Dogg Photo: MTV News Plans for Nate Dogg’s funeral and wake are starting to shape up, according to a source close to the late singer’s family. Nate Dogg died last week of yet-undetermined causes. The “Regulate” star suffered two strokes in recent years and never fully recovered from the setbacks brought on by the second one, his manager, Rod McGrew , told the media. The crooner is tentatively set to be laid to rest this Saturday with a ceremony preceding the event at the Long Beach Airport, which will be open to fans, according to the family friend. The next day, another tentative event is in the works: a memorial benefit at the Los Angeles Convention Center hosted by DJ Quik. McGrew did not respond to MTV News’ request for comment about the events; a representative for Quik was unable to confirm the information when we contacted him. Warren G, who teamed with Nate Dogg for his hit “Regulate,” spoke to MTV News about his friend’s death following a South by Southwest tribute concert. “I was out on the Sweat Tour with Snoop, and we had got the word from his family on what was going on, and it was just a crushing blow for us,” he said. “Just from going to see him and lifting his spirits up when he was in therapy and stuff like that, it’s just crazy for that to happen. And I still don’t believe it, you know what I’m saying? “It kind of hurts me when I look at this shirt [the organizers of the SXSW tribute show sold Nate Dogg T-shirts, with proceeds going to the late singer’s family], it’s like, ‘Damn, that’s my homeboy on this shirt,’ ” he continued. “And I’m hurting, and you know, a lot of people are showing tons of support for his family, for his homeboys, and we really and truly appreciate that. Lady Gaga Wraps Up Born This Way, Plans Tour

Now that the ‘spectacular’ album is done, tour plans are next, creative director Laurieann Gibson tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Tom Briglia/ WireImage Over the weekend, Lady Gaga tweeted that her May release, Born This Way, was nearly complete. “In Nebraska, finishing up record today,” she wrote. “I’m so proud of the album: I keep dancing+drinking: metal/techno rock journey of a woman on the run.” Now, with eight weeks left until it officially drops, Gaga’s creative director, Laurieann Gibson, revealed that this album will have the Little Monsters going, well, gaga. “This new album is spectacular,” Gibson told MTV News. “And I got to tell you, you got to really stand by and take notice, ’cause the album is excellent. It’s of such excellence that I think that everyone’s going to be really impressed and affected.” The first single from the album, the title track, has sat at the top of the charts for weeks, and as Gaga readies the release of a second single, the RedOne-produced “Judas,” Gibson said it’s just the beginning. “The records are so visual and large and the concept of birthing has so many levels to it and the dance is never limited, that you’re just gonna keep seeing an extension of this story,” she explained. “And hopefully [we] get humanity to a place where we can effect change.” With the album basically done, plans for the tour are under way. “We did a theater in an arena and it worked [for the Moster Ball Tour]. … How do we take it to the next level?” Gibson teased of Gaga’s next outing. Oksana Grigorieva to Sue Mel Gibson For All Kinds of Stuff; Probably Vice Versa

Despite Mel Gibson’s no contest plea to battery last week, Oksana Grigorieva plans to file a lawsuit alleging battery, emotional distress and defamation. Sources close to Gibson say he will wage legal war if Oksana does so. Forget settling out of court … it is ON like legal Donkey Kong this time around. The actor will “gladly” file his own lawsuit against the woman he says put a $15 million price on the Mel Gibson tapes in return for keeping quiet. It could be just beginning for Mel and Oksana … Oksana’s lawyer, Daniel Horowitz, said “our position hasn’t changed” regarding Mel’s no contest plea and her plans to sue for myriad damages. This looming lawsuit likely played a huge role in Mel’s no contest plea on misdemeanor battery charges, for which he will serve no jail time. Pleading no contest subjected him to similar sentencing as a plea of guilty, but there was no admission of guilt that will bolster her claims. Basically, he denied her account before, he’s likely to keep denying it now, and Daniel Horowitz and Blair Berk are going to bill a lot of hours. [Photo: Fame Pictures]

David Arquette Tweets That He’s ‘Fine’ After Car Crash

By MTV News staff David Arquette Photo: Johnny Nunez/WireImage While it was reported that David Arquette was lying on the ground and bleeding after a head-on car crash Friday (March 4), the recently embattled actor took to Twitter hours later to let his followers know he’s going to be OK. “I got into a car accident but I’m fine,” he tweeted, adding a quip about tiger-blooded fellow actor Charlie Sheen . “Luckily I have dragon’s blood running through my veins. Haha Thank you for all your concern.” A few minutes before that message, Arquette tweeted , “Remember to wear your seatbelt-wish I was.” According to TMZ , Arquette was driving in West Hollywood, California, when his car veered into oncoming traffic. A photograph posted on the site showed Arquette lying on his back in the grass with his eyes closed and his hands crossed over his chest. The “Scream 4” actor has had a difficult few months beginning last October when he and his wife of 11 years, Courteney Cox, announced their plans to separate . Since that announcement, Arquette spent time at a rehabilitation facility to deal with alcohol abuse and “other issues.” “Everybody’s worried and concerned about me,” Arquette said during one of a series of revealing interviews with friend and radio host Howard Stern. “I’ve been drinking a lot because I’m heartbroken. It’s really a personal, traumatic thing. … When I drink, I become a maniac.” Arquette had previously revealed to Stern details about his sex life with his ex and his distress over the separation. At the time he checked into rehab earlier this year, Courteney Cox told People magazine, “I really admire David and his choice to take charge and better his life. I love and support him.”

By Kara Warner David Arquette Photo: John Shearer/ Getty Images Actor David Arquette was involved in a head-on collision Friday (March 4) while driving in Los Angeles. According to TMZ , the recently embattled actor was driving in West Hollywood, California, when his car veered into oncoming traffic. A photograph posted on the site shows Arquette lying on his back in the grass with his eyes closed and his hands crossed over his chest. The gruesome description from TMZ reads that Arquette is allegedly injured, “lying on the ground right now — bleeding — as fire trucks are racing to the scene.” Given the developing nature of this report, there has been no official statement or comment released by the actor’s team that addresses Arquette’s current condition. The “Scream 4” actor has had a difficult few months beginning last October when he and his wife of 11 years, Courteney Cox, announced their plans to separate . Justin Bieber Reveals Birthday Plans, Talks Haircut

By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber eating cheesecake Photo: Getty Images Justin Bieber turns 17 on March 1, and he’s revealing what his plans are for the big day. “I only have, like, four days, so I’m just going to relax, because I start my world tour starting on [March 4] — so just going to mentally prepare and just relax,” Justin told “Entertainment Tonight.” “No birthday bash. … Hopefully my grandparents will be out here and I’ll be able to spend time, a little bit, with them. My grandma makes the best cheesecake — cherry cheesecake. She made that for my 13th birthday.” Of course, Bieber’s birthday isn’t the only thing making headlines these days. His new haircut has also been causing quite the hoopla, but Bieber seems to be brushing it off. “I just wanted to [cut my hair], that’s all. Not really a big reason; I just woke up and said, ‘I don’t want this anymore,’ so I just cut it,” he said. “It’s not really about that. You know, the fans really liked it, but they’ll like me no matter what, because I think it’s about the music. I’m really excited to see what the fans overseas think and take it day by day.” Bieber will re-release his 3-D flick “Never Say Never” this weekend. “It’s 40 minutes of extra footage, so it’s basically like a new movie,” he says. “It’s real exciting, because it shows me and my friends more and it shows a different part of the concert, so it’s going to be great. Hopefully all the fans will go back and watch it.” Next week, in addition to his birthday, Bieber will also kick off his European tour . “I’m excited to see what [Willow Smith] brings to the table,” he said. “We start on March 4, so she’s really excited, and she told me that she can’t wait — and she’s adorable — so I can’t wait. “I have such great people around me and such good family,” he added. “I just want to be a good role model to people, and to be able to just make good music. … I’m going to make mistakes, but it’s about learning from them and becoming better. … My movie shows that anything is possible and dreams do come true. … Remember to always stay humble and always be gracious and anything can happen.” What do you think about Bieber’s new ‘do?
