Sergio Garcia Issues Second Apology For Racist Tiger Woods Joke

Under fire from media and fans, European Tour star Sergio Garcia issued a second and far more sincere apology for his racist joke about Tiger Woods . Garcia made the wisecrack about Woods at a tour function the previous night, and acknowledges his comments were “totally stupid and out of place.” There is no love lost between the two golfers, who have been engaged in a war of words via the media going back two weeks to The Players Championship. It turned ugly this week when Sergio was asked if he would have Tiger over for dinner at the U.S. Open. Yes, he quipped, and “we’ll serve fried chicken every night.” Garcia, 33, said that he made a “silly” response to an obvious joke and said his intent was not to be racist. But Woods, 37, was far from pleased. Tiger Tweeted, “The comment that was made wasn’t silly. It was wrong, hurtful and clearly inappropriate.” Sergio got the message and apologized for real. “I want to apologize to Tiger and anybody that I could have offended,” Garcia said in a statement today. “I feel sick about it. I’m truly, truly sorry.” “I hope we can kind of settle things down and hopefully move on.” That and least partially satisfied Woods, who Tweeted later: “I’m confident that there is real regret that the remark was made. The Players ended nearly two weeks ago and it’s long past time to move on and talk about golf.” The Woods-Garcia feud heated up during the The Players Championship, where Sergio accused Tiger of distracting him during the third round. Tiger denied wrongdoing, while Garcia told the media that Woods, who went on to win the Players after Garcia imploded late, is not a nice guy. Tiger, who made it clear that he’s not the biggest fan of the Spaniard, added that it’s never a surprise if Sergio is complaining about something.

Silver Linings: NBA Players Donate $1 Million To Oklahoma City Relief Efforts After Tornado Ravishes The Community

NBA Players Donate $1 Million To Oklahoma City Tornado Relief The NBA is lending a helping hand to those affected by the recent tornado that ripped through Oklahoma City with a hefty monetary donation to the tune of $1 million. via NBA Website The National Basketball Association and National Basketball Players Association announced today that they will contribute $1 million to support relief efforts in response to the destruction caused by the tornado in the Oklahoma City area. The NBA and the Players Association will join forces with the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, and other disaster relief agencies that are mobilizing their resources to support the recovery and rebuilding efforts. The Oklahoma City Thunder and Thunder star Kevin Durant have each donated $1 million to the relief efforts, and several NBA teams, and current and former players are also contributing to aid in the recovery. Players and team personnel of the Thunder, the WNBA’s Tulsa Shock, and the NBA D-League’s Tulsa 66ers will continue to provide local support, assisting in on-the-ground relief efforts in addition to the ongoing support by the NBA family. The Westboro Baptist Church is drawing a link between Monday’s devastating Oklahoma tornado and NBA star Kevin Durant’s support for Jason Collins. After Collins came out as gay in SI this spring, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Durant was one of many players to praise his courage and offer support. According to the WBC, OKC is now paying the price. Fred Phelps Jr., the son of Westboro Baptist Church minister Fred Phelps and the brother of Shirley Phelps-Roper , tweeted the following messages: “OK Thunder’s Durant flips God by praising fag Collins. God smashes OK. You do the math. #FearGod #GodH8sFags #FagsDoomNations #GodH8sU” “God’s wonderful wrath in Oklahoma reminds me: #GodCursesUForFagMarriage #GodIsYourTerrorist #GodWillRepay #GodH8sU #GodAvengesHisPeople” Pretty awful, but not unexpected from a group that has picketed funerals of slain veterans, Sandy Hook students, and Boston bombing victims. Those aren’t the only cases, nor will they be the last. Any tragedy they can exploit and pin on increased tolerance of homosexuals, the WBC is on it! Sadly, in this situation, they’re not alone in their attempt to blame a natural disaster to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. In 2012, chaplain John McTernan linked Hurricane Sandy and other natural disasters to U.S. President Barack Obama’s backing of marriage equality. McTernan similarly linked Hurricane Isaac with the LGBT community, pointing to the fact that the storm coincided with New Orleans’ “Gay Mardi Gras.”

Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn Take His Kids to School

Tiger Woods took the field to school at the Players Championship the week before last. Now he’s taking his kids to school, literally, with Lindsey Vonn. Here’s the athletic couple in North Palm Beach, Fla., today with young Sam, 5, and Charlie, 4, his children with former wife Elin Nordegren: Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn , who announced their dating status in March, kept stoic expressions on their faces as they dropped off the kids. Just one day earlier, Vonn, 28, took her beau’s kids to school solo. On Tuesday, the golfer stepped out with his skier girlfriend – both in athletic gear. Woods, 37, has not been shy about his romance with Vonn. Just last week, the pair enjoyed themselves at Woods’ annual Tiger’s Poker Night in Las Vegas. Prior to that, they went to the MET Gala, arm-in-arm. Earlier this month, Vonn and Woods also spent quality time on board the golf superstar’s multi-million dollar yacht, Privacy, also with the children. People close to Woods say he’s happier than ever these days. “Tiger is winning right now. He is back on top,” a source said. “Everyone thinks that Lindsey is good for him. They understand each other. They are both athletes.” “They have the same lifestyle, the same pressure. Lindsey gets it.” Elin, meanwhile, has also moved on with her love life, and is reportedly dating billionaire Chris Cline . The pair have not yet been photographed together.

The Powerball jackpot ballooned big time in the run-up to this evening’s drawing, with an estimated $360 million in play. Do you have the winning numbers? We highly doubt it. But if you have a ticket, you never know! Officials expect jackpot totals of this size to continue to climb, thanks in part to a game redesign that increased the odds of winning some kind of prize. This also lowered the possible number combinations to win the Powerball, however. In any case, the lotto craze is showing no signs of slowing. The “cross-selling” of Powerball and Mega Millions tickets – states being able to sell both Powerball tickets and Mega Millions tickets – also helps. As a result, large jackpots will continue to surpass all-time jackpot records set years ago, said Mary Neubauer, spokeswoman for the Iowa Lottery. Iowa is one of the founding Powerball states, where it remains huge. “It usually took a handful of months, if not several months, for a jackpot to reach this large amount,” she said. “Now it’s achieving that within a handful of weeks .” “I think the redesign is achieving exactly what we had wanted it to.” In fact, more than half of the all-time records have been hit recently. The top two all-time jackpots – $656 million from a Mega Millions jackpot and $587.5 million from a Powerball jackpot – were achieved in 2012. The last major win came when a New Jersey man won a $338.3 million jackpot – now considered the fourth largest jackpot in history – this March. Players aren’t complaining about the large sums. On the contrary. “I’d hire someone to tell me what to do with the money,” said R.J. Konyek, 36, an engineer in Omaha, Neb. “I’d definitely be up for the challenge (of spending it).” Insurance agent Joe Williams, of Middleton, Wis., is trying like so many others to get lucky with Powerball. Even his $4 investment gives him a shot. “I know rationally it makes no sense,” he said of his long shot. “But at the same time, without a ticket, I have zero chance.” You can’t win if you don’t play. Dirty dog ballers are at it again! NFL Athletes Accused Of Running Affair House To Cheat On Wives Ex-NBA player Jalen Rose admitted to the steps most ballers take to cheating on their wives and girlfriends . Well, it looks like a couple of athletes have taken the dirty dog game a step farther. NFL players Mike Sims-Walker, Brandon Marshall and Chris Johnson admitted that they have a house they use to have affairs with women without their wives and the media finding out. Via Orlando Sentential reports: A house linked to the shooting of a 15-year-old girl in Pine Hills last year has ties to current and recent National Football League athletes, newly available records in the case obtained by the Orlando Sentinel show. One of the players, former University of Central Florida and Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Mike Sims-Walker, was directly involved in the investigation, records show, at one point entering an Orange County Sheriff’s Office interview room to talk with his cousin, a victim in the case who authorities suspected was lying. Prosecutors have described the home on Robbins Avenue as a nondescript setting where pro athletes could hang out and bring women while visiting Orlando — away from the view of the media. In her opening statement in the trial of Tyrone Mosby — the gang member charged with attempted murder in Danielle’s wounding — prosecutor Nicole Pegues described the Robbins Avenue home as a place NFL pros go “if they want to step out on their girlfriends and their wives … outside of anywhere else where media might catch them.” Gunfire erupted after a burglary there July 29, and a stray bullet struck Danielle Sampson as she rode in her parents’ minivan, rendering the Apopka High athlete severely brain-damaged. The football players were not suspected of any crime or involvement in the burglary or shooting. Indeed, video evidence shows Sims-Walker was helpful to the Sheriff’s Office.

I’m not sure what CoCo Austin was doing at ESPN The Magazine ‘s 10th Annual Pre-Draft event, but remind me to send a thank you card to whoever was responsible for putting together the guest list. Maybe she’s there to remind all the players that hearing the word “bust” isn’t necessarily a bad thing? Anyway, I’m definitely drafting CoCo in my Celebrity Wives Fantasy League this year. She’s clearly got first-round talent.
