Even in the age of Peak TV, some of this year's TV shows were just flat out bad. Many of them didn't last past one season, while others still manage to have an audience — somehow. From the quick flops to the worn out staples, here's a look at some of the worst TV shows of 2016. 1. Notorious To be fair, nothing could have filled the Scandal-sized hole in our hearts — and our Thursday nights. But Notorious didn’t even come close to being a solid replacement while the Shondaland favorite was on its lengthy hiatus. 2. Heartbeat Loosely based on the life of Dr. Kathy Magliato, this bizarre medical procedural was pretty much a trainwreck. 3. Conviction Despite the fact that Hayley Atwell is incredible, ABC’s Conviction managed to be a total trainwreck, and it’s already been canceled. You can do better, ABC! 4. The X-Files Sometimes, a revival series can be a wonderful thing. That wasn’t the case with The X-Files. The brief returns of the series had a couple of good episodes, but mostly, it was a disappointment. 5. Shadowhunters Freeform’s Shadowhunters turned out to be a pretty poor adaptation of the young adult book series. Yet another disappointment from this year of television. 6. Dead of Summer Ugh. Another disappointment from Freeform this year, Dead of Summer had the potential to be something great. Unfortunately, it didn’t follow through. It was unoriginal and unbearable to watch. Ariana Grande took to Twitter Tuesday to speak out against female objectification following a run-in with a fan of boyfriend Mac Miller. The pop star felt compelled to document her experience to her 43 million followers after feeling disrespected and degraded by the guy. What did he say exactly? You’ll be surprised … According to the singer, she and her rapper beau were out picking up some food when a young fan of his excitedly approached the couple. “He was loud and excited and by the time M was seated in the driver’s seat, he was literally almost in the car with us,” Grande recalls. “I thought all of this was cute and exciting,” Ari said , until he said: “‘Ariana is sexy as hell man. I see you, I see you hitting that!!!'” That made Grande feel like a sex object and left her reeling. “Hitting that? The f**k??” she continued. “This may not seem like a big deal to some of you but I felt sick and objectified. I was also sitting right there when he said it,” she said. Adding that she “felt really quiet and hurt,” Grande said that these “kinds of moments [contribute] to women’s sense of fear and inadequacy.” “I am not a piece of meat that a man gets to utilize for his pleasure,” she wrote, clarifying that her beef is most certainly not with Miller. “I’m an adult human being in a relationship with a man who treats me with love and respect,” she says of her love and musical collaborator. Nevertheless, it “hurts my heart that so many young people are so comfortable” when it comes to objectifying women “with such ease.” “We need to talk about these moments openly because they are harmful and they live on inside of us as shame,” the pop star concluded. “We need to share and be vocal when something makes up feel uncomfortable because if we don’t, it will just continue,” Ariana said. “We are not objects or prizes. We are QUEENS.” Not surprisingly, this was retweeted and liked tens of thousands of times within hours of the 23-year-old posting her missive to Twitter. In keeping with her outspoken nature, this is not the first time Grande has slammed sexist double standards toward her or other women. In Billboard’s May cover story, she ripped a UK radio station for lavishing praise on Justin Bieber and Zayn Malik for shirtless photos. The issue was not with those two male stars, she says, but that the same source was simultaneously shaming Miley Cyrus and Kim Kardashian. “If you’re going to rave about how sexy a male artist looks with his shirt off,” Ariana argued, then don’t turn around and slut-shame females. “If a woman decides to get in her panties or show her boobies for a photo shoot, she needs to be treated with the same awe and admiration.” We could not agree more at The Hollywood Gossip. In November of last year, she also lambasted two L.A. DJs for a sexist query about whether she’d choose her phone over using makeup. Grande snapped at the pair with this retort: “Is this what you really think girls have trouble choosing between? Is this men assuming that’s what girls would have to choose between?” She does not mince words, and we love it. Following her tweet about the incident with Miller Tuesday night, Grande responded to fan questions about whether she should talk. Basically, a common point fans made was that perhaps, given how overtly she uses her sexuality to sell music, she’s being “a tad hypocritical.” Not that case, Grande says, and here’s why: “That’s the thing … women expressing their sexuality is often mistaken for ‘hi come disrespect me!!!!’ .. & that’s just not the case.” “Women (and men) can express themselves however they’d like !!! even loving sex!! this is not an invitation to be disrespected.” Your final score here: Ariana 1, Haters 0. Flip or Flop’s Christina and Tarek El Moussa announced their stunning split two weeks ago (though they actually had split months ago). So with Christmas last weekend … how did they handle it? It looks like the HGTV couple is deeply committed to co-parenting (and putting up the best possible front), because they did just that. Both spent the holidays with their adorable children. The blonde mom of two posted several family photos from the former couple’s Christmas Eve and Christmas celebrations on her Instagram. She joked, as many parents likely did on Sunday, about how difficult it is to wrangle two little ones and actually take a decent pic together. “When you can’t get both kids to cooperate for a pic at the same time,” she jokingly wrote on Instagram, along with the images below: Meanwhile, her soon-to-be ex-husband Tarek posted a sweet photo of him holding daughter Taylor and son Brayden earlier on Christmas. “We love our amazing kids so much!! Wishing you all a very merry Christmas from California!” Tarek wrote, and it looks like they had one. Earlier this month, the two stars of the hit home renovation series released the following statement in the wake of their surprising split: “Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage.” “We had an unfortunate misunderstanding six months ago.” “The police were called to our house in an abundance of caution. There was no violence and no charges were filed.” The El Moussas then confirmed that they had split up months ago, but sought counseling to “sort out” their relationship after the incident. It was there that the pair decided ultimately to separate and co-parent their children, while continuing to film new episodes for HGTV. “We are committed to being the best parents we can be.” “We will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively,” they said, “and plan to continue our professional life together.” They are both moving on already, though, not reconciling. Christina is dating Gary Anderson , a contractor who has worked with the family and who witnessed the incident with Tarek in question. As for the “incident,” by this point, we all know the details of what went on thanks to TMZ breaking the news six months after the fact. In May, Tarek responded to a fight with Christina by grabbing a gun, storming out of their Orange County home and heading into the woods. Christina feared her husband was going to kill himself and dialed 911; Many police officers (and a helicopter) then arrived on the scene. When authorities located a distraught Tarek, he claimed that he had only taken a gun into the wilderness as protection against animals. El Moussa said he needed to “blow off steam” but willingly surrendered all of his legally registered firearms, and no charges were filed. It is believed that Flip or Flop will end after this season. Tiny Files For Divorce From TI It looks like the “Family Hustle” has come to a close. Apparently, Tiny is fed up and has decided to call it quits on her 6-year union to Tip. According to TMZ , Tiny went down to the Henry County Courthouse to officially sever ties from Tip earlier this month. Yikes…we bet that made for an interesting Christmas. There’s no defined reason being pointed out…but we all know things have been shaky (to say the least) between TI and Tiny for the better part of 2016… baby rumors , social media shade and all. And of course, that whole Floyd situation didn’t do much to help matters… The duo got married back in 2010 and have 2 sons, Major and King, and 1 daughter, Heiress together…among TI’s two older sons and daughter and Tiny’s daughter Zonnique. SMH…are you at all shocked by this one? The fam appeared to be all good over Christmas… Hit the flip for more… ATLpics/Splash/WENN/Instagram
Scandalized Teacher And Son Found Dead In Apartment This is so sad . 36-year-old Felicia Barahona, a former teacher at Dewitt Clinton High School, was found dead in the living room of her West Harlem apartment with an electrical cord tied around her neck Monday, according to NY Post reports. Her four-year-old son Miguel was found dead in the bathtub, where he’d drowned. Both were discovered around 8:30 am after the building super called 911, revealing he’d climbed onto the fire escape outside their third-floor apartment on West 153rd Street and spotted Barahona’s body on the floor from the window. The super had gone to investigate after smelling a foul odor. Police haven’t revealed whether they’re seeking a suspect or if the deaths are believed to be the result of a murder-suicide however, a police source says Barahona’s body is believed to have gone undiscovered in the apartment for three or four days. Barahona previously made the news in 2013 after school officials revealed she was axed from teaching high school science classes after entering a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student. The teacher/student relationship started out as a friendship when the teen was 15, but became sexual after his 17th birthday. A report by the Special Commissioner of Investigation revealed Barahona and her teen paramour were sleeping together unprotected five times a week, as the teacher had told her student “not to worry” about contraceptives. The pair ultimately went their separate ways before their son Miguel was born. Some other strange details about this case include reports that Barahona described Miguel as a girl in Facebook photos from 2013 and even dressed her son in pink. Apparently, that practice had continued as a neighbor said she still would see him dressed in girl’s clothing. “It is odd to see the little boy sometimes dressed up like a girl. Also the little boy runs up and down the hall and I never see her saying ‘Be quiet’ or ‘Come back here’ or anything,” Barahona’s neighbor from across the hall, Javier Yudelka said. “He’s just allowed to run around and do what he wants.” Another friend told the Post Barahona also had an 8-year-old daughter who didn’t live with her, but that she “really loved her children.” The friend asked not to be named, but said Barahona was taking classes and teaching at John Jay College before she died, revealing the two took a final exam together at John Jay Thursday, Dec. 22nd for a forensic science class. “She even messaged me later in the day, about the exam,” the friend said. “We were all worried about the exam. She was just such a great person and extremely nice. I just don’t understand how this happened.” The holidays are such a tough time for many people. Our prayers go out to Barahona and Miguel’s friends and family. Facebook
Eddie Murphy Posts Up With Eight Of His Kids For Holiday Photo We see you Eddie ! So far Eddie Murphy has been doing a pretty great job of blending his family so that girlfriend Paige Butcher and new daughter Izzy Oona spend plenty of time with his older children. We gotta say he did a great job with the holiday family portrait this year — shared by his oldest daughter Bria. Sister Shayne offered another point of view. Little Izzy Oona is sooo cute right? We wish Eddie had a better relationship with Angel, his daughter with Mel B, but know that thing don’t always work out. Hopefully once she matures she’ll get to know her siblings better. Keep clicking from more of the Murphy’s Merry Christmas. Instagram
Christmas may be over, but it’s still the holidays, which means, chances are, most of you guys are probably sitting in an airport right now, or a train station, or crashing in your mom’s basement like yours truly. Point is, wherever you are, you’re probably not in some gorgeous tropical location taking a bikini vacation with Izabel Goulart . So here’s the next best thing: a bunch of pictures and an Instagram video from the Victoria’s Secret babe. Just press your nose up against the screen, get the weirdo sitting next to you to make a few seagull noises and spray water in your face (if they’re not doing that already), and it’ll be just like you’re really there. It may officially be winter across the United States, but try telling that to Kylie Jenner and Tyga. Because this famous couple is only just heating up! The Keeping Up With the Kardashians actress and her rapper boyfriend have surprised their fans with an extra steamy video, releasing their most racy footage to date on Christmas Day. Directed by photographer Sasha Samsonova, the video is set to music by Niia and it features Kylie and Tyga in the shower. Are they dressed? Yes. But the hot shower and steam eventually soaks through their white T-shirts, leaving little to the imagination. Like, VERY little to the imagination. By the end of the video, both stars are topless and holding on to each other. It's not hard to imagine where things go between them next. The video was filmed in November in Los Angeles. “It fell into place very, very naturally. It just happened,” Samsonova told W magazine about shooting the project, adding: “The whole deal with this video is that it's a very personal experience. It's like you're watching this person from a point of view that has never been seen before.” Previously, Kylie and Tyga appeared in the rapper's “Stimulated” music video, confirming their relationship at the time. The two then appeared in Alexander Wang's Fall 2016 campaign video, which depicted the couple and other stars at a house party. Just how NWFW is the latest footage? Click PLAY and find out now!
