But the long arm of the law finally did reach out. CBS News’ Dean Reynolds met “Prisoner 1039699″ at the Southeast Correctional Center in Charleston, Mo., Thursday. Mike Anderson is nine months into a 13-year sentence for an armed robbery that took place in 1999. He should have gone to prison in 2002 after his conviction and unsuccessful appeals, but Missouri made a mistake. It forgot about him. Anderson said he’s been told it’s all a clerical error. Instead of ordering Anderson to prison, the state mistakenly thought he was already there. Anderson said he waited and waited. Reynolds asked Anderson, “What did you think would happen as the days and weeks and months and years went by?” Anderson said, “I had this sense in me that everything was OK, no matter what was gonna happen, that everything was gonna be OK, and, to this day, I still have that.” It’s a shame he changed his life around and is now serving jail time for something he did 13 years ago.

According to the police report, Hernandez said he went to the kitchen to get a drink when Potthoff suddenly threw the glass cup at him. When the cup missed Hernandez, Potthoff allegedly attacked him with a butter knife. Hernandez avoided injury both times. He told investigators that Potthoff told him he thought Hernandez was Jesus and wanted to kill him, according to the police report. Potthoff, 51, was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The suspect did not mention Jesus when he told police his side of the story, but changed his story numerous times, according to the police report. First, he said he was in the kitchen when the glass broke. Then he said he was in his bedroom and finally outside. Officers found a broken glass cup and a butter knife on the living room floor, which were collected as evidence. Potthoff was taken to the Orange County Jail where he remains.But his belief in non-belief came to the forefront during an encounter with a judge on Tuesday.Potthoff demanded that he be assigned a public defender who is also an atheist. “It’s just my human rights and everything else,” Potthoff told the court, according to the Orlando Sentinel. “I’m allowed to be with someone of my own kind.” The judge told Potthoff, who is reportedly indigent, that if he wanted an atheist attorney, it would be on his own dime. U.S. Congressman Vance McAllister (R-LA) has admitted that video surveillance footage, allegedly showing him kissing a staffer who is not his wife, is him. Vance McAllister Surveillance Video First reported by the Ouachita Citizen, a West Monroe, La., newspaper in his district, the grainy video came from an anonymous source last December. It shows a man turning off the lights in a hallway before briefly exiting the frame. When he comes back in frame, he is joined by a woman and they kiss passionately. None of the footage, which the newspaper says was shot in Vance McAllister’s Monroe district office, clearly shows the faces of the two individuals. The woman is identified as his district scheduler, Melissa Anne Hixon Peacock, 33. On Monday, McAllister issued a statement admitting he is the man on video: “There’s no doubt I’ve fallen short and I’m asking for forgiveness. I’m asking for forgiveness from God, my wife, my kids, my staff and my constituents who elected me to serve.” Busted! “Trust is something I know has to be earned whether you’re a husband, a father or a Congressman. I promise to do everything I can to earn back the trust of everyone I’ve disappointed.” McAllister won a November 16 special election to replace Rodney Alexander, who was named the secretary of the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs in August. She was only 25, and her father is at an utter loss. “We are beyond pain,” Bob Geldof said in a statement Monday. “She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us.” It remains unclear how Peaches Geldof died , but it came as a shock. Medical personnel were first called to an address in a small town in Kent over “a report of concern for the welfare of a woman” on Monday afternoon. “A woman aged 25 was pronounced dead by South East Coast Ambulance Service,” Kent Police said later in a statement released to the media. “At this stage, the death is being treated as an unexplained sudden death . Police are working to establish the circumstances around the death.” A rep added that no further details would be disclosed on Monday. The video clips — filmed for a twisted animal torture genre called “crush” — depicted her and other porn actresses “torturing and killing a wide variety of animals, including chickens, rabbits and more for the sexual gratification of its viewers,” according to police. 9-Month-Old Boy Charged With Attempted Murder via Fox News A nine-month-old Pakistani boy sat on his father’s lap, sucking on a bottle during a court appearance where he and at least 30 others were charged with attempted murder. Little Muhammad Mosa Khan was also charged with threatening police and interfering in state affairs at a Pakistan court Thursday. Khan and others in the group were booked following a police raid to catch suspected gas thieves in the city of Lahore, The Times of India reported. Police say the suspects tried to kill security officers by throwing stones at them. But Khan’s father, Ahmed—who is also accused– says the crowd was protesting an electricity shortage. Ahmed claims police created a fake case against him, his son and others in the group and urged authorities to drop the charges. “Our crime is that we had protested against non-availability of electricity in our locality,” Ahmed said. Judge Rafaqat Ali first directed police to record the child’s statement, then when he realized his age, granted him bail and adjourned the case until April 12. The judge could not dismiss the case as it’s not under his jurisdiction. Senior Superintendent of Police Rana Jabbar said there was a misunderstanding that led police to book the minor in the case. Tampa Bay Times reporter Weston Phippen detailed the story yesterday: Ronald Benjamin, 61, looked onto the patio and saw a shape on the ground. It looked to him like a mannequin. An April Fools’ Day joke, he concluded, and went back to work. Two hours later, another employee of the senior housing complex at 440 Fourth Ave. N told Benjamin about the shape on the patio. It was just a prank, Benjamin assured her. When a woman and her teen son came by to deliver the Tampa Bay Times, Benjamin asked the boy to help him move the mannequin into a Dumpster. It gets worse … He grabbed the shoes and the teen clasped a handful of clothes, which was topped with a ball of whitish-gray hair. It weighed almost nothing, Benjamin noted, as they heaved it into the trash. Benjamin saw what looked like blood, but he thought it was fake. Hours later, other workers discovered that the shape in the Dumpster was not a mannequin, but a 96-year-old resident who had jumped 16 stories to her death sometime during the night. They called Benjamin, whose shift had ended by then, and told him to come back. He was stunned when he was told that it was a person . Benjamin, who was fired, says he is deeply troubled and contrite. When the Times asked him about the mistake, he assumed that because the bars had just closed for the night, some reveler was having fun with a mannequin: “I’m telling you, I swear to God, the face looked like a rubber mask. If I thought for one instant it was a person I would have called the police, my manager, everyone.” The woman, who was not identified, had left a suicide note and was described by an acquaintance at her nursing home as a “refined” individual.
