Herman Cain Suspends Presidential Campaign

In the wake of both sexual harassment and infidelity allegations, Republication Presidential nominee Herman Cain suspended his campaign this afternoon, effectively ending his bid for the White House in 2012. Herman Cain Ends White House Bid “As of today, with a lot of prayer and soul searching, I am suspending my presidential campaign,” Cain said at an Atlanta rally, vowing that “I am not going to be silenced and I am not going away.” Cain cited the “continued distraction” of chatter over Ginger White’s claim that she carried on a 13-year affair – during which Cain supposedly showered her with gifts and financial help – with the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza as the basis for his decision. “These false and untrue allegations continue to be spinned in the media, and in the court of public opinion so as to create a cloud of doubt over me and this campaign and my family,” Cain said. “That spin hurts. It hurts my wife. It hurts my family. It hurts me. And it hurts the American people, because you are being denied solutions to our problems.” Even before White rose to national prominence, Cain was under pressure after several other women accused him of sexual harassment and inappropriate conduct in the 1990s when he was the head of the National Restaurant Association. “One of declarations I want to make to you today is that I am at peace with my God. I am at peace with my wife, and she is at peace with me. And I am at peace with my family and at peace with myself,” Cain said.

Adam Lambert Talks Fashion, "Honest" New Album

Adam Lambert walked the red carpet of the American Music Awards in an impressive three-piece suit, defeating Justin Bieber by a wide margin in this Fashion Face-Off . Based on this dapper look, one can’t help but wonder: Is there a fashion line in Lambert’s future? Maybe, Adam says during his December 9 appearance on the Sundance Channel series, All On The Line with Joe Zee . “I’d love to work on my own fashion line, accessory line, shoes or something. [But] obviously right now I’m focused on my music.” Along those lines, the artist is only too excited to dish on his upcoming album. There’s no release date for it, but Lambert has already laid out a slew of singles. “The style is a little bit evolved,” he says. “I think the last album I was trying to update the style of the late ‘70s, early ‘80s with the glam rock and with rock music on a whole visually and aesthetically. I think this album is more in the direction of contemporary again. It’s fresh and it’s something people maybe haven’t heard before. Lyrically, it’s very honest and real.” The CD will likely hit stores in early-to-mid 2012. [Photo: WENN.com]

Newt Gingrich to Poor Kids: Be Janitors!

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich wants to put underprivileged pre-teen American kids to work as school janitors to help pull them out of poverty. Never one to mince words (or go a day without ruffling feathers), Newt’s issue has never been a lack of brains, but that he comes across as … mean. Speaking at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government last week, Gingrich outlined, informally, his proposal to ease child labor laws in the U.S. “These schools should get rid of unionized janitors,” he said. “Have one master janitor, pay local students to take care of the school instead.” “The kids would actually do work; they’d have extra cash; they’d have pride in the schools,” he added. “They’d begin the process of rising.” Education is seen as the key to upward mobility, as well as hard work, yet the budget cuts championed by some politicians make that harder. It’s difficult to say if he’s trying to make a point about self-reliance, or eschewing union employees in favor of exploiting the working poor. With Gingrich, it’s hard to tell. But it’s never uninteresting.

Hillary Clinton Photo Op Interrupted By Streaking, Torch-Carrying Hawaiian

Hillary Clinton was posing for photos with Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang after their recent meeting in Honolulu when someone decided to crash that party. The Secretary of State must have caught it out of the corner of her eye, because a second or two after the fact, she realized what happened and seriously cracked up. A random, scantily-clad Hawaiian dude running around with a flaming torch while you’re trying to pose with a dignitary will have that effect. Pretty funny stuff: Hillary Clinton Streaker

With hints of what made her ’80s music great and elements of current-day pop, this song may get what its title demands among diehard fans of Her Madgesty. Oops: Rick Perry Campaign Goes Down in Flames at GOP Debate

Texas Gov. Rick Perry produced by far the most memorable moment of Wednesday’s Republican presidential debate, and his campaign likely ended in the process. Already characterized as not ready for prime time after several poor debate performances cast serious doubts on his candidacy, Perry hit a new low last night. It’s one thing to have a bad outing … but Perry never has a good one, and in this almost comical clip, he had no idea what he was even talking about on stage: Rick Perry Stumbles in Debate Perry tried to name three federal agencies he would eliminate if he is elected president, but came up with just two: the Commerce and Education Departments. Struggling to come up with #3, Perry received encouragement from one of his rivals, Rep. Ron Paul, who suggested he should actually eliminate five agencies. Someone then suggested that maybe Perry was talking about the Environmental Protection Agency. No, he said that wasn’t the third. But what was it, then? No clue. After an awkward pause, he drew a blank, offering only a simple “Oops.” You wonder why virtual unknown Herman Cain became the Tea Party darling …

New Herman Cain Accuser to Go Public Today

A new woman alleging sexual harassment by Herman Cain will break her silence at a news conference … with powerhouse attorney Gloria Allred in tow, obviously. The embattled Republican presidential candidate has been accused of harassment by two women who worked at the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s. Herman Cain was president of the trade group at the time. The women both received settlements, which they can’t talk about as per the terms of the settlements. Politico has alleged that Cain sexually harassed the women. Herman Cain: I Did Not Sexually Harass Anyone Now, a third woman, who will be the first to go public on Monday, will say she sought Cain’s help with an employment issue and was allegedly sexually harassed. Allred and her client will discuss, in detail, what she alleges occurred with Cain, the Tea Party darling who tried, and failed, to tamp down the scandal last week. Saturday night after a debate with Newt Gingrich, Cain refused to answer questions about the allegations, saying “We are getting back on message, end of story.” “Read all of the other accounts. Read all of the other accounts where everything has been answered in the story. We’re getting back on message, okay?” Okay. But he may not be able to determine that after today.

Donald Trump Accuses Jon Stewart of "Racist Rant" Against Herman Cain

Jon Stewart is facing Donald Trump’s wrath (been too long since we heard from him on political matters) after making what the latter calls a “racist rant” about Herman Cain. Specifically, Trump took issue with the comedian’s commentary on the GOP presidential candidate’s confusing denial of sexual harassment charges during the 1990s. Stewart likened Cain’s answer to being asked “Have you ever kidnapped a baby?” only to respond, “No. Well, other than the Lindbergh baby.” Funny? Not to Trump … Donald Trump Goes Off on Jon Stewart Trump was upset about Stewart’s imitation of Herman Cain, saying, “It’s not what he said, but the way he said. The tone of his voice, the inflection. Unbelievable.” He called out officials saying they’re letting Stewart “get away” with it. “Other people get taken off the air, and when he [Stewart] says it, people smile and sort of say, ‘Wow, I can’t believe he gets away with that,'” Trump explained. Trump said others are lambasted for non-political correctness, but never Stewart, even if he does “a horrible, horrible thing to the African-American community.” Jon Stewart Goes Off on Herman Cain Whether or not this constitutes “horrible” is a matter of opinion, clearly. But maybe Don should look back at a certain pot-stirring crusade he waged not long ago. On the flip side, Stewart does go after certain people harder than others, and with a very different style. If that’s the Donald’s point, it’s not totally off base. Jon’s primary target seems to be media coverage of Cain, not the Republican candidate himself, though. Is Trump overreacting or was Stewart just offensive? Tell us what you think by hitting the comments and the poll below …
