Why Liberals and Atheists Are More Intelligent

Not so long ago experts predicted the imminent collapse of religion in modern western culture. Religion – often synonymous in these discussions with superstition, magic, and delusion – would at last give way to the autonomy of human reason and the power of the experimental method of natural investigation. But something happened on the way to religion’s funeral. http://www.makeahistory.com/index.php/recent-news/391-more-intelligent added by: worrg

Hayden Panettiere Is a Dude of the Day

Hayden Panettiere has always been built like a dude and like the girl in my highschool who was asked to leave the girl’s washroom cuz they thought she was a dude when she was 13, she’s only gonna get more and more dyke as she get’s older…. She is disgusting and I never understood why everyone was so into her. I can only assume it was just the power of media because she was marketed as a hot young thing despite being built like a male midget who gets shot out of cannons at the circus….because the power of media makes dudes think they are supposed to find specific girls hot..even when they aren’t…and if we don’t find them hot…we feel like we may be gay and we don’t want people thinking we are a bunch of closet cases…we listen to what we are told…and repeat it…even if listening to what we are told makes us look like bigger closet caases…becuase the bitch we are freaking out over is a dude….. I always found her vile, but realize that pussy is just pussy and as long as there’s a promise that there’s a pussy…thats good enough for us… Pics via Fame

3OH!3’s ‘My First Kiss’ Video Premieres — Watch It Here!

The electro-punk duo (and Ke$ha) smooch subtlety good-bye in eye-popping new clip. By James Montgomery Subtlety has never really been 3OH!3’s strong suit . Previous hits like “Starstrukk” and “Don’t Trust Me” were unabashed odes to excess and rather wanton stupidity. “House Party,” the sort-of first single off their upcoming Streets of Gold album, is about, well, throwing an awesome house party. And “My First Kiss,” the proper first single from Gold, is also in keeping with that titling tradition: It’s a song about kissing. Fittingly, it has a rather eye-popping, over-the-top video, one that features a whole lot of folks smooching (geriatrics, punks, teachers, sailors, soldiers, lesbians, nerds and hirsute rockers to name a few), some really bright colors, the occasional close-up of a pair of lips and not much else. Oh, and Ke$ha — she’s in it too. The duo behind 3OH!3 bounce around and throw punches at the camera. Sean Foreman shouts about kisses that get him drunk like whiskey and, at one point, rhymes “candy” with “panties.” Like we said, these aren’t the subtlest dudes in the world. Still, like pretty much everything 3OH!3 do, there’s an undeniable charm to both the song and the video. Perhaps it’s the power-tool chorus, or the “ooh-ooh-ooh” vocal harmonies. Maybe it’s Ke$ha’s sexy sass. Or maybe I just like watching a whole bunch of people lock lips. The whole thing is a lot of fun. It gets in your head. And hey, it’s the summer — school’s out, and gleefully stupid is in. So, while concepts like “restraint” might not be in their wheelhouse, 3OH!3 are pretty great when it comes to making outrageous, hormonally charged pop. And “My First Kiss” is more of that. Subtle, no? Smart, most definitely. What do you think of the “My First Kiss” video? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists 3OH!3 Ke$ha

T.I. Says He’s ‘Reppin’ ‘ For Lil Wayne While He’s In Jail

‘His daughter and my daughter, they’re real, real close,’ Tip says. By Shaheem Reid T.I. Photo: Sam Hendrick T.I. says he’ll always have Lil Wayne ‘s back. Just a few short months ago, Tip was in Wayne’s shoes , having to put his career on hold and telling his loved ones goodbye while he served time in prison. “Yeah, I speak to him. Sure,” Tip said earlier this week in the MTV Newsroom when asked if he’s in contact with Weezy. Tip said their relationship is a lot deeper than trading 16 bars on each other’s songs. “Well, his daughter and my daughter, they’re real, real close,” Tip explained. “My daughter spends the night with them, his daughter comes spend the night with us. I told him, ‘Whatever I can do. Whatever it is that’s within my power’ … I know how it is with kids, especially with a period of time like that. “Even though it may seem like a short time — to the media, it may seem like ‘He got off easy’; to everybody, it may seem like ‘It’s only a couple of months’ — to a child, that’s an eternity,” he continued. “So I’m like, ‘Whatever I can do, it’s all good.’ I just let him know there’s people out here who’s still reppin’ for him, people who will go above and beyond to do whatever it needs to be done.” While sitting down with MTV News, Tip also revealed that while he was incarcerated, Eminem was a peer that supported him . “Especially since I went through my situation [with having to go to prison]. [He would] just kinda remind me that ‘I’ve been through dark period in my life too. You’re gonna make it. You’re one of the ones we need, so you’re gonna make it. Stand tall and walk the walk,’ ” Tip said. “He just made it a point to always reassure me of the spot that I hold in this thing that we got called hip-hop. It was incredibly helpful. It was incredibly noble of him, in my eyes, to even take the time out to reach out to me. We continue to stay in touch,” Tip said. “He wrote me since I was in the joint. We’ve spoken several time since I’ve been back home. We maintain a healthy relationship.” Next up, Tip is releasing a project straight to the streets and Internet on Thursday — for free. It’s called F— a Mixtape and is hosted by DJs Drama and MLK. Lil Wayne guests on the project. Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: T.I. Related Artists T.I. Lil Wayne

The Greeks Get It

Here’s to the Greeks. They know what to do when corporations pillage and loot their country. They know what to do when Goldman Sachs and international bankers collude with their power elite to falsify economic data and then make billions betting that the Greek economy will collapse. They know what to do when they are told their pensions, benefits and jobs have to be cut to pay corporate banks, which screwed them in the first place. Call a general strike. Riot. Shut down the city centers. Toss the bastards out. Do not be afraid of the language of class warfare—the rich versus the poor, the oligarchs versus the citizens, the capitalists versus the proletariat. The Greeks, unlike most of us, get it. The former right-wing government of Greece lied about the size of the country’s budget deficit. It was not 3.7 percent of gross domestic product but 13.6 percent. And it now looks like the economies of Spain, Ireland, Italy and Portugal are as bad as Greece’s, which is why the euro has lost 20 percent of its value in the last few months. The few hundred billion in bailouts for other faltering European states, like our own bailouts, have only forestalled disaster. This is why the U.S. stock exchange is in free fall and gold is rocketing upward. American banks do not have heavy exposure in Greece, but Greece, as most economists concede, is only the start. Wall Street is deeply invested in other European states, and when the unraveling begins the foundations of our own economy will rumble and crack as loudly as the collapse in Athens. The corporate overlords will demand that we too impose draconian controls and cuts or see credit evaporate. They have the money and the power to hurt us. There will be more unemployment, more personal and commercial bankruptcies, more foreclosures and more human misery. And the corporate state, despite this suffering, will continue to plunge us deeper into debt to make war. It will use fear to keep us passive. We are being consumed from the inside out. Our economy is as rotten as the economy in Greece. We too borrow billions a day to stay afloat. We too have staggering deficits, which can never be repaid. Heed the dire rhetoric of European leaders. “Modern totalitarianism can integrate the masses so completely into the political structure, through terror and propaganda, that they become the architects of their own enslavement,” he wrote. “This does not make the slavery less, but on the contrary more— a paradox there is no space to unravel here. Bureaucratic collectivism, not capitalism, is the most dangerous future enemy of socialism.” (More @ Link) added by: Omnomynous

‘Lost’ Cast Says Goodbye On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

Show features comic alternate endings starring Naveen Andrews, Jorge Garcia and Evangeline Lilly. By Josh Wigler After “Lost” took its final bow during a special two-and-a-half-hour series finale event on Sunday night, several “cast and crew members appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” to commemorate the show’s legacy, discuss some of the events that transpired during the episode and debut three alternate endings. Kimmel’s first guest was Matthew Fox, the 43-year-old actor responsible for playing noble spinal surgeon Jack Shephard. Fox reaffirmed that he’s long known that the final image of “Lost” would involve a dying Jack’s eye closing, just as his eye’s opening was the show’s first image. Despite his pride over working on the series, Fox admitted: “It’s hard to watch for me. Some time down the road, I suppose I’ll watch it all the way through. … [But] it’s been an incredible, incredible experience playing this guy.” Fox was soon joined by Terry O’Quinn (Locke) and Michael Emerson (Ben) . Kimmel jokingly asked O’Quinn if this was the “good Terry” or the “bad Terry,” referring to O’Quinn’s season-six portrayal of the villainous Smoke Monster in Locke’s body. “This is the out-of-work Terry,” the actor quipped. O’Quinn said he first understood the power of “Lost” upon watching “Walkabout,” the season one episode that revealed Locke was a paraplegic before the crash. Emerson said that his favorite scenes centered on Ben’s use of food as a prop. For Fox, his first scene with Evangeline Lilly (Kate) where she stitches his back was “a tough scene to do” but still a highlight. Other actors eventually graced the stage. Naveen Andrews (Sayid) admitted that he didn’t regularly watch “Lost,” while Emilie de Ravin (Claire) revealed that she didn’t tune in to the series during her season five absence. Daniel Dae Kim (Jin) laughingly acknowledged that his character had bad luck with boats, nearly blowing up twice and ultimately drowning in a sunken submarine. At the end of the hour, Kimmel debuted three comedic alternate endings crafted by executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. The first ending centers on Sayid as he tells a gathered campfire circle the story of how he blew up on the submarine. Moments later, “Survivor” host Jeff Probst steps out of the jungle and informs Sayid that he’s been voted out of the tribe. A furious Sayid rants to the camera that he didn’t go through the entire series only to be eliminated by “Jeff f—ing Probst!” The second alternate ending riffed on the famous ending of “The Sopranos,” with Jorge Garcia (Hurley) occupying the Tony Soprano role. He sits at a table with Fox and de Ravin and begins to tell them that he thinks he “knows the secrets to the Islan —” before the screen cuts to black. The final alternate ending evoked the classic conclusion to “Newhart,” complete with Bob Newhart waking up from a dream only to find himself in bed next to Evangeline Lilly. Kimmel closed out the hour on a serious note, thanking the cast and crew of “Lost” for contributing to one of the single most memorable television events of the decade. Maryland Citizens Face Felony Charges for Recording Cops

Several Marylanders face felony charges for recording their arrests on camera, and others have been intimidated to shut their cameras off. That's touched off a legal controversy. Mike Hellgren explains the fierce debate and what you should do to protect yourself. A man whose arrest was caught on video faces felony charges from Maryland State Police for recording it on camera. “We are enforcing the law, and we don't make any apologies for that,” said Greg Shipley, MSP. Video of another arrest at the Preakness quickly made its way online, despite an officer issuing this warning to the person who shot it, “Do me a favor and turn that off. It's illegal to videotape anybody's voice or anything else, against the law in the state of Maryland.” But is he right? Can police stop you from recording their actions, like a beating at the University of Maryland College Park? The American Civil Liberties Union says no. “For the government to be saying it has the power to prevent citizens from doing that is profoundly shocking, troubling, and particularly in the case of Maryland, simply flat-out wrong,” said David Roach, ACLU. Under Maryland law, conversations in private cannot be recorded without the consent of both people involved. added by: Omnomynous
