Newt Gingrich explained to Laura Ingraham why his staying in the presidential race will ultimately help deny Mitt Romney the Republican nomination. Said Gingrich: “I think one of the reasons that Mitt Romney’s been much less effective since Santorum emerged is that he’s had to split his attacks. It’s very hard for him to attack both of us. There’s real danger, from his perspective, that attacking one… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Political Wire Discovery Date : 15/03/2012 19:24 Number of articles : 2

Another Sign Obama Is A Bad Mutha: The POTUS Gets Some Exclusive Air Jordans

First, Obama got fly at the Apollo theater. Now, his shoe game is on point. One of the most popular kicks in the last few years, the Spizikes, have been all over the country. The shoe is a combination of the three Jordans that Spike Lee promoted as Mars Blackmon in the 80s. And they’re fire. Apparently, Obama agrees and he had Spike Lee send him over this custom version of the kicks in super snazzy bordeaux. It even came with a Presidential seal! Damn, Obama’s having a good day. We’d cop if he put them on Ebay. Do it!

Michelle Obama ‘Is Really Funny,’ Miranda Cosgrove Says

‘iCarly’ star tells MTV News about first lady’s cameo, airing Monday on Nickelodeon. By Jocelyn Vena Jennette McCurdy, Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor and Michelle Obama in “iCarly: iMeet the First Lady” Photo: Lisa Rose/Nickelodeon Miranda Cosgrove is welcoming her biggest and most political guest star to date on Monday’s episode of “iCarly.” The teen star will be joined by first lady Michelle Obama in a very special episode of the series aptly called “iMeet the First Lady.” The episode, which airs at 7:30 p.m. ET on Nickelodeon, will follow Carly as she prepares to welcome her military dad home for his birthday. When he’s unable to come back from his deployment, the First Lady meets with Carly to thank her for her family’s sacrifice and service. Cosgrove said the idea for the episode came courtesy of Mrs. O herself after watching the show with her daughters. “It was one of the most exciting days in the entire time we’ve been filming the series in the last five years,” she said. “Because there was Secret Service everywhere and there’s just so much preparation for her coming and everybody was so excited to meet her. And then she came to the set and she was really down to earth and fun.” Given that Mrs. Obama is such a rookie when it comes to acting, the young Hollywood heavyweight weighed in on the first lady’s skills, giving her two thumbs up. “In real life she’s really funny, so I think that helped a lot because she just has a really good sense of humor,” she said. “So, she has good comic timing.” While the episode is about Carly’s experience in a military family, the episode really pays homage to all the military families out there. “This is really the best thing we could have done because it’s all about celebrating military families, just really letting all these kids know how important their parents are and how great they are for supporting them,” Cosgrove said. In fact, just to show how much support the show has for these families, the cast has been hosting special screenings of the episode at military bases throughout the country. The last will be held Friday (January 13) near Washington, D.C., at Hayfield Secondary School in Alexandria, Virginia. “It’s been really fun going to all the different military bases and meeting all the families and kids,” Cosgrove said. “They’re the first ones who get to see it … The response has been really good.” And at this last screening, Cosgrave will be joined by her super special co-star. “Mrs. Obama is going to be there and we’re going to get to see her again,” she teased. “And maybe we’ll randomly dance.” Are you excited for the presidential episode of “iCarly”? New Hampshire Primary A Scramble For Second Place

MTV’s Power of 12 is on the scene as Republican candidates fight to be Mitt Romney’s runner-up. By Gil Kaufman Rick Santorum Photo: Andrew Burton/ Getty Images If you stayed up late awaiting the results of the Iowa caucus last week, there’s a good chance you’ll get to bed earlier this Tuesday when New Hampshire voters head to the polls for their presidential primary. While former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney slid out of the Hawkeye State with a razor-thin eight-vote victory over suddenly surging contender former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum , polls indicate that the leading GOP candidate will face much-weaker competition in his own backyard. Romney is polling at 40 percent in the state, which means that the real scramble this time will be for second place. Though Romney managed to emerge from Iowa with a win (barely), despite not spending much time there in the run-up to Tuesday’s first-in-the-nation contest, it was the roster of those below him that helped shake up the contest. Left for dead months ago after failing to climb out of the single digits, traditional family-values conservative Santorum nearly managed a huge upset but is unlikely to pull another January surprise in New Hampshire, where the large population of independent voters — who make up 40 percent of the electorate — can cast ballots in Republican primaries. His anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage fire-and-brimstone message may not resonate with Granite State voters the way Libertarian Ron Paul ‘s small-government outlook could. In fact, according to CNN, not only is New Hampshire the least-religious state in the nation, but a 2008 poll found that 55 percent of Republican primary voters believed that abortion should be always or mostly legal. Also, New Hampshire is one of the few states in the country where gay marriage is legal. Paul, whose pull with young voters helped propel him to a strong third-place finish in Iowa, could cement his status as a serious contender with a second-place finish. At press time, he was polling around 17 percent, edging out Santorum at 11 percent. With a win clearly off the table, even a runner-up finish was looking less likely, though, for former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman. The most-liberal conservative in the remaining field made a calculated risk by avoiding Iowa and betting the farm on New Hampshire, where he’s spent much of the past six months. But after crowing that he was certain he’d win the state in recent weeks, Huntsman began lowering expectations in the days leading up to the vote, when his poll numbers failed to rise above 7 percent. Like Santorum and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Huntsman already began setting his sights on the next contest in South Carolina (January 21), while Romney is hoping to solidify his hold on the leader spot and fend off the rest of the pack as the primaries head to Southern states, where Evangelical voters could play a bigger role in boosting Santorum. While the GOP contenders continue to rip each other apart in the scramble to come out on top after primary season, they also have been hitting President Obama very hard on his policies in their stump speeches. Though Obama does not face a primary battle on Tuesday night, he is running a robust campaign in New Hampshire, where his team is trying to get as many supporters out to the polls to vote as possible in order to shore up the commander in chief’s sagging support in the state. No matter what happens, MTV’s Power of 12 will be there to chronicle what’s on the minds of young voters and bring you their reactions to Tuesday night’s vote. MTV is on the scene in New Hampshire! Kelly Clarkson Talks About Reuniting With ‘SNL’ ‘Family’

Saturday will be the pop singer’s third time as the show’s musical guest. By Jim Cantiello Kelly Clarkson Photo: MTV News This weekend, Kelly Clarkson is making her third appearance on “Saturday Night Live” as the musical guest. But the bubbly singer insists that being a part of NBC’s iconic show will never feel old hat. “I’m a three-peat! I’ve made it,” Clarkson exclaimed to MTV News when we caught up with her at rehearsals. “It’s a legendary stage! I’ve been watching it since I was a kid. I think we all have.” More so than the enormity of playing Studio 8H, Clarkson said she digs the vibe of the cast and crew. “It’s a fun environment. You don’t feel like you’re working … This is like a family place. Everybody here is nice to people who aren’t famous. You know what I’m saying? They’re nice to my makeup artist, my hair guy … I hate people who are just nice to famous people. It bothers me. I want to kick ’em,” she chuckled. Clarkson still thinks about her first appearance on “SNL” in 2005, when she became the first “American Idol” winner to snag a musical guest spot. Even cooler, she got to flex her comedic muscles in a couple of skits with former cast members Amy Poehler and Horatio Sanz. “I remember I was so excited. First of all, Horatio? He’s hard to do skits with because you laugh ’cause he laughs all the time at [himself]. So you’re laughing ’cause he’s laughing, and I’m trying to keep a straight face. I had so much fun.” But this go-around, Clarkson’s too busy to participate in any sketches, even though the politically charged “SNL” could write comedy gold for Clarkson, who recently found herself in the middle of the presidential race when she casually tweeted about digging Ron Paul’s campaign . The singer’s always down to poke fun at herself and be goofy, but alas, tour rehearsals are top priority. “We’re literally flying in and out [of New York]. Charles Barkley’s hosting, so he’s doing all the skits.” Kelly fans can still look forward to two high-energy performances. During Saturday night’s show, Clarkson and her band will rock her #1 single, “Mr. Know It All,” as well as her latest hit, “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You).” Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: Kelly Clarkson Related Artists Kelly Clarkson
