Kate Middleton, Gold Digger? Prince William, Wife Spoofed in Chinese Panda Cab Ad

Kate Middleton, the People’s Princess, is a down-to-earth girl by all accounts … except in this taxi commercial from China that parodies her as the opposite. In the clip, a Kate lookalike stands outside with a fax Prince William and Queen Elizabeth II, complaining, “I didn’t marry royalty to schlep around in a taxi.” They do look a bit like Will and Kate, too. The Queen impostor? Not so much. Panda Cabs Commercial Spoofs Kate Middleton William attempts to reason with his beautiful wife, “But darling, Granny is right. The commoners want to see us tightening our belts and all that.” “Rubbish, people want to see that they can be like us if they just work hard,” Kate responds. The Queen then mockingly asks, “Like you did?” Ohhh! “Now, now, Granny,” William says. “We all know that it’s I who fell for Kate.” “That’s right, I didn’t even fancy him at first,” the faux Kate Middleton says. “Don’t you remember? You had to practically beg me for my phone number.” Fortunately, of course, Wills had Panda Cab on speed-dial. Within seconds, a car appears, whisking the trio away to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Kate Middleton Art Portrait Sells … to Brad Pitt!

Brad Pitt is keeping himself busy – and embracing the English culture – while his better half Angelina Jolie is off filming Sleeping Beauty flick Maleficent . If he’s not browsing in motorbike shops, the Hollywood star is visiting old pals in Birmingham and buying art from the UK’s hippest graffiti artist Bambi. After seeing examples of her work in Time , he snapped up canvases of Prince William and Kate Middleton, Queen Elizabeth II and Amy Winehouse. Other celebrities, such as Adele, are said to own Bambi works as well. We always felt Kate Middleton pics were priceless. Apparently others agree! A source told The Sun (UK) of Brad’s pricey purchases: “There is a lot of buzz about Bambi. As Brad’s here with the family for up to two years, it makes sense to fill the house with art by British artists.” “He already has a Banksy,” whose work is similar to Bambi’s, “which he bought for

Jessie J Sued For Copyright Infringement Over ‘Domino’

Loomis & the Lust think her track sounds a lot like their ‘Bright Red Chords.’ By Jocelyn Vena Jessie J Photo: Jessie J is being sued by California’s Loomis & the Lust , who claim that her track “Domino” sounds a lot like their song “Bright Red Chords.” The band’s lead singer, Will Loomis, alleges that Jessie J’s biggest Stateside hit has a few striking similarities to portions of the band’s own 2008 track. He is suing not only Jessie, but also Universal Music Group, Lava Records and Universal Republic Records. “Mr. Loomis never consented to the use of his song,” lawyer Chris Arledge wrote in a statement to Billboard. “And we look forward to obtaining an appropriate remedy from the court for this clear infringement.” In April, Loomis uploaded a video of the band’s song with Jessie’s vocals laid on it, but the clip has since been removed on “copyright grounds.” However, a music video for “Bright Red Chords” remains online, allowing fans to determine if Loomis has a case against the British songstress. Reps for Jessie J and producer Dr. Luke had not responded to MTV News’ request for comment by press time. “Domino” is featured on Jessie’s debut studio album, Who You Are, which dropped last year. It features songwriting and production credits from A-listers like Dr. Luke, Claude Kelly, Max Martin and Cirkut. “Domino” reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent 24 weeks on the chart. “People have heard ‘Domino’ and said, ‘It’s nothing like you.’ But I’m like, ‘Well, the album’s really eclectic anyway, and I never go into the studio and say, ‘I wanna do another song that’s like “Price Tag” or another song like “Do It Like a Dude,” ‘ ” Jessie told MTV’s Buzzworthy blog last year. “I listened to a lot of Whitney [Houston] and Prince … and we kinda just wanted to write a song that’s timeless, that’s fun and uplifting.” Do you think “Domino” and “Bright Red Chords” sound alike? Owl City Calls Carly Rae Jepsen Duet ‘A Happy Accident’

‘I feel like every artist is inherently granted one shot to sing about having a good time,’ Adam Young tells MTV News of ‘Good Time.’ By Jocelyn Vena Owl City Photo: When MTV News caught up with Owl City himself, Adam Young, on Thursday (June 21), he called “Good Time,” his just-released duet with Carly Rae Jepsen , a “happy accident.” Happy is definitely the right word to describe the feel-good summer track, on which Owl City and Carly Rae sing about listening to Prince and partying until twilight (the time of day, not the movie). “I feel like every artist is inherently granted one shot to sing about having a good time in his or her life, and six months ago, I realized I hadn’t cashed in my chips yet,” Young told MTV News. “So I thought, ‘I’m gonna sit down and I’m gonna give this a shot … and get my friend Carly to sing on it.’ … The final product rarely exceeds your expectations, and this thing just kind of happened.” Young’s people called Jepsen’s people, and from there, “Good Time” became a shimmering duet between the “Fireflies” singer and the “Call Me Maybe” songstress, combining their earworm powers for the ultimate summer sing-along jam. “It was this whole worlds-collide thing, and it was this kind of dream come true. I can’t believe it happened,” he said. “[It was] so kind to lend her talent to this song, so yeah, it worked out. … I feel like it’s one of those songs, it kind of always needed to be a duet. That was the initial idea from step one.” Young wrote the track back in the dead of winter, saying he wanted to craft a tune that “anybody from any walk of life can sing.” He certainly accomplished that mission, with the song’s easy-to-remember chorus (“We don’t even have to try/ It’s always a good time”) and a little bit of a “Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh” anthem to keep you singing and dancing to. With the song out in the world, up next, Young and Jepsen are slated to shoot a video in New York City, but Owl City actually has a more ideal spot. “It would have to take place in Hawaii, ’cause it’s such a summer song,” he said. “So there’s probably $1 million in flights right there. But probably somewhere very dreamy and summery and somewhere you can feel like you can take a look around you, and you’re already having a good time.” “Good Time” is the lead single from Owl City’s next album, The Midsummer Station, due in August. Katy Perry "Wide Awake" Music Video: Released!

Katy Perry has said time and again lately that she’s not perfect and that her life is not a fairy tale. This is the theme of her “Wide Awake” video. It starts off with KP wrapping up the shoot for “California Gurls,” before being transported to an alternate reality by a younger version of herself. Take a look at it below and tell us what you think! Katy Perry – Wide Awake “It’s kind of like the labyrinth of my life in the last two years,” Perry explained to MTV. “I just wanted to tell a story about myself kind of going through this journey, maybe sometimes trying to get out of a maze. There’s good parts and bad parts.” Is one of those bad parts an allusion to Russell Brand? She’ll probably tell you it doesn’t, but at one point of the music video, our fair Katy Perry meets – and decks – her Prince Charming. Fitting.

Katy Perry’s ‘Wide Awake’ Video: Through The Looking Glass

Perry’s fairy-tale clip closes the book on her Teenage Dream story and finds her living happily ever after. By James Montgomery Katy Perry in “Wide Awake” Photo: Katy Perry certainly isn’t the first artist to get all Lewis Carroll-ian with a video — Tom Petty’s iconic “Don’t Come Around Here No More” certainly springs to mind — though, in some ways, her brand-new “Wide Awake” clip (which borrows from Carroll’s “Through the Looking Glass” book) does manage to cover new territory — namely by transforming the fantasy trope into a bit of an autobiography. It makes sense. After all, it’s not exactly a stretch to call the past two years of her life — which began with the release of her Teenage Dream album in summer 2010 and concludes with her upcoming “Part of Me” 3-D film — surreal. She’s one of the biggest pop stars on the planet, gone through a very public divorce, and become the rather unwilling target of the tabloids — and in some way, you get the feeling she’d like nothing more than to return to simpler times (singles sales intact, obvs). And all those things show up, in one form or another, in “Wide Awake,” which begins at the very end of her “California Gurls” music video shoot and takes her literally through the looking glass to a world that is basically as fantastical as her actual existence. She is trapped inside a labyrinth. She discovers her lost innocence in the form of a young girl. She is hounded by hellish paparazzi. She finds her Prince Charming, who tellingly crosses his fingers behind his back before going in for a kiss. And even more tellingly, Perry reaches back and decks him. In short, you don’t exactly need an advanced degree in film theory to realize that the video is one long symbolic ride through her voyage to superstardom (except for the two hospital attendants/minotaurs; I’m not sure what they represent). The squeeze of fame, the rose-colored nostalgia, the invasions of privacy and the betrayals of trust: It’s all here and all ready for the armchair analysts. Of course, Perry has made it very clear that this new video is the final chapter of the fairy tale that was her Teenage Dream years. That she doesn’t seem to be entirely happy with all of it is about as telling as her socking Prince Charming — after all, no one ever said fame was easy, or the ride to the top wouldn’t be a bumpy one. And, at their very core, most fairy tales are actually pretty terrifying things. But with “Wide Awake,” Perry lets it be known that she’s made it through unscathed and on top of the world. And if that’s not a happy ending, well, then I don’t know what is. What did you think of Katy’s latest video? Let us know in the comments! The clip will premiere during ‘MTV First: Katy Perry’ at 7:53 p.m. ET this Tuesday, June 19, on MTV. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Sway Calloway Katy Perry Photo: We only have to wait a few more days until the world premiere of Katy Perry ‘s latest music video for her newest hit single, “Wide Awake.” Perry is bringing the anticipated clip to MTV on Tuesday via “MTV First: Katy Perry.” Perry has said the song, along with certain aspects of the video, is all about her journey of self-discovery during the past year. Of her inspiration for the song and the video, Perry told MTV News, “I just wanted to tell a story about myself going through this journey, maybe sometimes trying to get out of the maze. There’s good parts; there’s bad parts. Of course, there has been a lot of things that went on last year that I had to get through and overcome. I think what probably kept me going is just the purity of my belief in music.” Judging from what we saw in the recent teaser trailer, “Wide Awake” is all wrapped up in a fairytale or at least in a fairytale-like setting. Perry appears to be playing the princess, and along her journey encounters a poisoned strawberry, a curious cat, Prince Charming and a young girl. Make sure to tune into MTV this Tuesday, June 19, at 7:53 p.m. ET for the worldwide premiere of the clip, followed by an exclusive 30-minute interview with Katy and MTV’s Sway Calloway on MTV.com, during which Perry will discuss all the details about the song, which she wrote for her upcoming 3-D concert film, “Katy Perry: Part of Me.” The “Wide Awake” video will also debut on VH1, Logo and TeenNick, in addition to MTV.com, VH1.com and LOGOtv.com.
