Washington H.S. Basketball Player Becomes Public Enemy #1 After Flagrant Fouls Go Viral

Connell (Wash.) High’s Cole Vanderbilt was an unknown in the basketball world, but all that changed two days ago, when he became one of the most hated players around. A viral YouTube video of some of his hilariously uncalled flagrant fouls turned him into a pariah. He can thank Michael Christenson, who filmed the Connell-Highland game. He was trying to show that the league needed better officials, but he made Vanderbilt and Kennan VanHollebeke look like the dirtiest players ever in the process. Fair? Unfair? Check out the compilation of their fouls below: Worst Flagrant Fouls Ever

REVIEW: Ethan Hunt Goes Emo in Patchy, Flashy Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol

What does it take to revive a passion for one’s work, years on, whether said vocation is saving the world or churning out sequels in a blockbuster franchise? How does one reclaim human contact in today’s isolating, gadget-dependent world? These are questions IMF agent Ethan Hunt and his portrayer Tom Cruise face in Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol , Cruise’s fourth outing in the spy series, directed entertainingly enough by Pixar veteran Brad Bird . If the hoodied Cruise evokes a touch of Eminem-level moodiness in the posters, it’s with good reason: Stopping a maniacal supervillain may be on the docket yet again, but this time around Ethan Hunt has gone emo.

By the Numbers: Breaking Down the New Expendables 2 Teaser

The new 60-second teaser for The Expendables 2 isn’t quite as LOL -splosive as the poster we all saw a few weeks back, but it’s still pretty great in its own sort of testosterrific way. What’s its secret? Let’s try breaking the magic down by the numbers:

REVIEW: Brisk, Disciplined Carnage Is Good — Not Great — Polanski

In Roman Polanski’s Carnage , two couples square off in a 4-way — or is it a 48-way? — skirmish involving parenting issues, class resentment, the self-centered nature of our society, and both sexual politics and the other kind. This is a drawing-room comedy set in what just may be one of the outer circles of hell: The well-appointed (but just shabby enough) Brooklyn apartment of a persnickety couple who advertise their liberal ideals perhaps more obviously than they practice them. These two insufferable individuals are meeting with a matched set of same, the perhaps better-heeled (and equally smug) parents of a boy who struck their son with a stick, knocking out a tooth or two in the process. By the time each of these mini-nightmare characters has had a swing at each of the others — and by the time one of them has vomited on a valuable art book — the permutations of animosity and indignation have multiplied into an algebraic equation of headachey proportions.

I always assumed that the process of making a hologram was so complex that it was limited to only those with access to expensive lasers and other fancy optical equipment. But when I heard that the Maker Shed started carrying Litiholo’s Hologram Kit, I was surprised that such a thing existed and I was eager to give it a try. After carefully following the directions, my first hologram was visible, but… Broadcasting platform : Vimeo Source : MAKE: Blog Discovery Date : 25/11/2011 14:00 Number of articles : 2

Giuliana Rancic Recovering From Surgery

Giuliana Rancic’s road to recovery has begun. The E! News personality announced Monday that she has breast cancer , and two days later had a double lumpectomy to remove it, hopefully for good. Thankfully, husband Bill told the Today Show Thursday that Giuliana is “doing well” post-surgery. That said, “It was kind of a long day,” Bill explained. “There’s many steps in the process if you go through this. Since it was on both breasts, the morning started with a two hour MRI where they had to put a guide wire in so the surgeon knew exactly what area to remove.” After a mammogram of the other breast and repeating the process, “we went into the surgery [which] lasted about two hours,” Bill said . “She’s a trooper.” “She pulled through it and was kind of relieved to get it over with and get the cancer out. At this point she’s doing well at home and recovering.” “I wish I could take some of the pain away,” he said. “Watching her being wheeled into that operating room was heartbreaking for me … I’m just doing everything I can to support her and make sure that she’s comfortable.” Thankfully, the prognosis is good for 37-year-old Giuliana. “We’re viewing this as a gift,” Bill said. “It was caught accidentally, very, very early.” Giuliana’s doctor insisted she get a mammogram before going through her third round of IVF treatments, and that was when it was discovered. “I will be okay, because I found it early,” she reassured fans Monday on Today . Following her surgery, she has “radiation for six and a half weeks.” And the spouses of four years are determined to continue in their attempts to conceive once Giuliana’s medical issues are resolved. “I’m not gonna give up,” she said. When she does get pregnant, “That baby will have saved my life,” she mused. “There’s some master plan.” Keep up hope and stay strong, G! [Photo: WENN.com]
