Question Of The Day: Is It Finally Time For ABC To Make A Black Man “The Bachelor”?

Sportscaster Lamar Hurd Aims To Be First African-American Star Of ABC’s “The Bachelor” We’re not gonna lie — we’re not big fans of ABC’s “The Bachelor” and a lot of the reason why is because we’ve felt like it wasn’t for “us.” So we can’t help but be excited about this Lamar Hurd character who is now vying for the spot for Season 17 of the show. Here’s a little more info: Last year show creator, Mike Fleiss told Entertainment Weekly that he and his production team are always looking to cast for ethnic diversity, “it’s just that for whatever reason, they don’t come forward. I wish they would.” Well look no further, Portland-based sportscaster Lamar Hurd is vying to become the show’s first African American hopeful. Initially the multifaceted commentator and entrepreneur was reluctant to apply for the show’s upcoming season, but thanks to his assistant, Tammy, Hurd has a different point of view. Jack White’s ‘Sixteen Saltines’ Video Director Talks Kids And ‘Stunt Booze’

AG Rojas tells MTV News the eye-catching new clip ‘is pretty ridiculous,’ no matter what critics have to say. By James Montgomery Jack White Photo: WireImage Jack White’s brand-new “Sixteen Saltines” video combines all the warm-and-fuzzy sentiments of a Larry Clark production with the nihilistic, general grotesquery of, well, any Harmony Korine picture — only with more auto-erotic asphyxiation, creative drug use, property destruction and flat-out visceral violence tossed in for good measure. Needless to say, it’s pretty amazing. It’s the brainchild of director AG Rojas, who’s made a name for himself in recent years with the similarly gripping, warts-and-all videos he’s directed for the likes of Spiritualized (“Hey Jane”) and Odd Future’s Earl Sweatshirt (“EARL,” aka the clip that probably got Earl sent off to boot camp ). And though those vids strike at the same exposed nerve, none of them have garnered the same kinds of reactions “Saltines” has in the 24 hours since it first premiered, as he told MTV News on Friday (April 6). “I try to pay attention to what people are saying, especially with something like this, because I’m not used to people having any sort of interest in the work I do … it’s usually niche artists,” he laughed. “So I try to see what people think; I mean, it also stems from my natural narcissism too. “Basically, I was working off the energy of the track, and I just wanted to create all these little vignettes about youth,” he continued. “The kids are the only people left on earth and Jack is the last adult, and so because of that, he becomes their enemy. And I wanted to explore the rest of that world, and see what the kids get up to. They just kind of go wild.” They certainly do. Shot outside White’s home of Nashville, in a town called Springfield — “They were super-down to let us just kind of run around and do what we wanted,” Rojas explained — the “Saltines” clip is three minutes of kids running amok. They hold White hostage (and seemingly burn him alive), chug Robitussin, spit, slice, and smash everything in their wake. It’s part bleak suburban nightmare, part post-apocalyptic horror show. And all of it is real. “Everyone’s local … a lot of them, we just found them through street casting,” Rojas said. “There’s one scene with this kid who just had this certain weird charisma, and I asked the production designer to give me some weapons and we went through a warehouse, which was incredibly dangerous, so many holes and nails everywhere. I just told him what to do, and he was just, like, super-stoked to just smash sh–. We like to keep it pretty loose on set, just let everyone have fun.” OK, not all of it is real. Because though the video has already drawn some rather amazing knee-jerk criticism — “Is It Kiddie Porn?” remains our favorite — Rojas wants it to be known that it’s mostly just the product of his fervent imagination and even its most gripping scenes (like the one where kids huff steamed booze through a gas mask) should be taken with a grain of salt. “There was definitely stunt booze, for sure. A lot of the stuff is pretty ridiculous,” he laughed. “Like, you know how espresso machines have the steam wand to do the espresso? I’ve had this idea for a while, and I’ve always wanted to do it where you put some sort of alcoholic liquid in there. It’s such a totally ridiculous idea, like, it would never work, but I always thought it would be funny for kids to try and do weird drugs, just out of desperation.” What do you think of Jack White’s “Sixteen Saltines” video? MTV to Teen Mom Cast: No More Fake Boobs!

Displeased by the breast enhancements members of the Teen Mom cast have undergone of late, MTV is looking to put the kibosh on future boob jobs. She’s not the first to go that route, but recent reports that wild child Jenelle Evans’ fake boobs are next on tap, the network is looking to crack down. Farrah Abraham and Maci Bookout also got their breasts done in the recent past, and the network is peeved at the sexed-up image of the moms. Seriously. The network is supposedly not trying to sell sex … for once. Says a source close to the production of Teen Mom … “MTV has an idea of how they want the girls to come off and big fake boobs isn’t it. They have even called the other girls and begged them to hold off on.” The network, of course, made an entire plot line out of this last summer, but “It was one thing when it was just [ Farrah Abraham ] … now it’s out of hand.” Seriously. One pair of enhanced breasts on an aspiring model was one thing … three is another thing. Let’s just cool it with the superficiality, girls.

Trayvon Martin 911 Call Controversy: NBC Apologizes For Editing George Zimmerman Recording

A version of the 911 tape of George Zimmerman reporting suspicious behavior by Trayvon Martin before killing him was edited, NBC admitted this week. It wasn’t doctored – his words were left intact – but it’s what we didn’t hear that sheds light on the ultimately fatal Martin-Zimmerman confrontation. On March 27, NBC’s Today Show aired Zimmerman’s call to the police, featuring these words: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good … he looks black.” The recording went viral, no doubt shaping public bias against Zimmerman . But it turns out Today shortened, and thus altered the meaning of, the call: Trayvon Martin 911 Call Here is the fuller version of the recording:

Curren$y Nabs Pharrell, 2 Chainz For The Stoned Immaculate

Wale, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and Daz will also appear on forthcoming album, Spitta tells MTV News By Rob Markman Curren$y Photo: MTV News Throughout his career, Curren$y has kept his collaborations organic, bypassing flavor-of-the-month rap features. And on his upcoming Warner Bros. album The Stoned Immaculate, he will continue to do so, even if the names in the LP’s credits get a little bigger. When the NOLA MC drops his next album later this year, fans can look forward to beats from Pharrell , J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, DJ Toomp and Virginia producer Bink, who famously crafted a number of tracks for Jay-Z’s 2001 classic The Blueprint. “This is a different look than anything I’ve usually done,” Curren$y told MTV News. “Usually I work with one person, or try to keep it to just, like, two producers on a project.” On 2010’s Pilot Talk and Pilot Talk 2, Curren$y worked mostly with Ski Beatz, and on his 2011 Weekend at Burnie’s, he tapped Monsta Beatz to take the production helm. Now Curren$y is ready to branch out. “Bink produced ‘What It Look Like,’ ” Curren$y said in reference to The Stoned Immaculate ‘s first single, featuring Wale. “Pharrell produced a joint for me. Daz did two joints and rapped on one of them for me. “It’s a mutual thing. I only work with people who I have a real conversation with and nothing is forced,” he continued. Curren$y’s not only recruiting big-name producers for his next LP, he also hooked up with some pretty notable MCs. “I got 2 Chainz on my album,” he revealed, noting that he was friends with the Atlanta star back when he used to go by his original rap name in the early 2000s. “Me and 2 Chainz been cool since it was me and Tity Boi was cool.” Now that Curren$y is the head of his own record company, Jet Life Recordings, he feels he has to use his relationships to his advantage. “It’s not that I did different and reached out, I kinda cashed in on my friendships,” he said. “I’m trying to get more attention towards my crew … I have to draw more eyes and play ball to make it easier for everybody else.” Which collaborations do you anticipate most on Curren$y’s The Stoned Immaculate ? Katy Perry ‘Sore And Exhausted’ After ‘Part Of Me’ Video

‘I know how to carry my weight a little bit more,’ she says of military training for the just-premiered clip. By Kara Warner, with reporting by James Montgomery Katy Perry Photo: MTV News One of the many reasons to admire Katy Perry is for how honest she is with her fans in revealing how she struggles with the same mundane annoyances in life that we all do, like watching what we eat and exercising. During MTV First: Katy Perry” on Tuesday, when Perry premiered her new “Part of Me” video , the pop star revealed that during the holidays, she gives herself a free pass and goes into full-on “Stay Puft Marshmallow mode.” So she had some preparation to do before shooting the combat-heavy clip, going on a strict diet and exercise program. “I got on a meal plan. I’m still on that meal plan, although I cheat a little bit — I have to live!” she admitted. “I got a fantastic person to work me out and get me into really good shape.” Perry said she performed a lot of the stunts in the video, including learning how to flip and carry people. “On the actual base, I did a lot of things. I flipped girls, I learned how to fireman-carry,” she said of the maneuver used to rescue wounded or unconscious victims of fires or other accidents. “I know how to carry my weight a little bit more,” she said, before admitting there was one task she wasn’t able to master. “One thing I can’t do, and I hope that there are other people out there that feel the same way, is climb a rope,” she said. “Oh my gosh, it’s so hard to climb rope! It’s all about grip and arms. I tried five or six times on set, but I had to cheat that shot. My hands were shaking.” Though the production of “Part of Me” was a lot of hard work — actual blood, sweat and tears — Perry talked at length about how much she learned from the Marines she worked with. “This music video, as much as I was sore and exhausted, I was so educated on people in the service who I’ve always respected, but this time the respect goes beyond and above anything I could’ve imagined,” she said. “The stuff that they go through, the loyalties and strengths that they all possess, it seems like they are seriously, not to sound weird, but it’s seriously the heart of America.” Stick with MTV News as we roll out more exclusive news from our “MTV First: Katy Perry” interview! No One Has Rapped About It. But Here Is the New Maserati Truck

Read more:

This Is The New Maserati Kubang! the automaker unveiled a concept called the Kubang at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Now, some 9 years later, thanks to synergies available in the Fiat/Chrysler group, that concept is now a reality; the production version having been unveiled at this year’s  Frankfurt Motor Show . Based on the current  Jeep Grand Cherokee , the production Kubang delivers its own unique flavor. The styling, penned at the Maserati Style Center, headed up by Lorenzo, Ramaciotti, is quite unlike the Jeep; being fluid instead of blocky and very much in tune with the company’s current design language, as seen on the Gran Cabrio, Gran Turismo coupe and Quattroporte, with a wide mouthed grille, expressive headlights and an almost coke bottle contour to the flanks. Maserati says, that while the basic structures of the Kubang and  Grand Cherokee might be common, the former will boast a Maserati engine, designed and developed in Modena; a specially calibrated eight-speed automatic transmission and Maserati engineered suspension and braking systems. A V8 version is definitely on the cards, though it will be interesting to see if a V6 version and possibly even a diesel becomes available, in attempt to further broaden market appeal. Stay tuned for more details on the Kubang as they become available. Source AutoGuide

Jennifer Love Hewitt, Massive Cleavage Promote The Client List

Let’s give Jennifer Love Hewitt a lot of credit: the actress isn’t even trying to pretend any longer. Why should you tune in for this actress’ upcoming new show on Lifetime, The Client List ? Not for the acting, not for the storyline, not for the production value. JLH made the reason clear in this scantily-clad promotional video for the April 8 premiere and now she’s doing it again in a new poster for the series: The Client List will air on Sunday nights and center on a single mother who takes over control of a brothel. We’ll certainly be tuning in. Or at least staring at this picture for the next few hours.
