Selena Gomez has taken a break from luxurious dates with adorable superstars to talk about her professional future – and she wants it to include music. Speaking to E! News at a press preview of Hotel Transylvania – one of three movies Selena filmed this year – the 19-year old said she misses recording and hopes to get started on a new record soon. “I want to be able to write about things I’ve never talked about before and tell a story with this album because I’ve never actually had time to go in and do that. I’ve never worked on a song for more than two days,” Gomez said . So does this mean Selena will be opening up to the world about Justin Bieber ? Not exactly. “It’s not going to be necessarily, ‘Here’s my tell-all,'” she says. “It’s going to be more of something that people could say, ‘It could be that or it could be this or it could that.’ At the end of the day I only make my music because I want it be really fun and if I could have people dance to it, relate to it, have a good time, that’s all I want.” Mentioning that she’s inspired these days by Jason Mraz and Parachute, Selena added that she also plans to reunite with Rock Mafia and Toby Gad. She then plans to go on tour in promotion of the CD.

Pop singer had to participate in a dance-off with Jaleel White before getting the bad news. By Kelley L. Carter Karina Smirnoff and Gavin DeGraw on “Dancing With the Stars” Photo: ABC The savvy producers at ABC’s hit reality dance competition switched things up for fans during Tuesday night’s “Dancing With the Stars” elimination show. Instead of making fans sweat it out until the final minute to find out which celebrity dancer and his/her professional partner would be given the boot based on a combination of judges’ scores and fan votes, they turned the tables a bit. The bottom two couples — pop singer Gavin DeGraw and his partner Karina Smirnoff and childhood actor Jaleel White and his partner Kym Johnson — had to duke it out on the dance floor. The couples danced side by side in a duel of cha-chas, with the judges having the final say about who would be saved and who would be going home. In the end, it really wasn’t much of a shocker. DeGraw was told he’d danced his last dance on the show — he’d been the bottom scorer on Monday night, as was pretty much the case since the competition began. Monday night’s theme was Latin night, and his samba failed to impress the judges. That said, the judges told DeGraw that they based their decision solely on the dance he turned in Tuesday night, however, and not what he’d done in previous performances. “It’s been amazing to be part of the show,” DeGraw said after learning that he’d be going home, adding that Smirnoff was a great mentor. Next week, the celebrities take on Motown week.
Maybe this is the 3-D revival Hollywood should foist on holiday moviegoers: “ABC’s traditional Easter-weekend broadcast of The Ten Commandments was the highest-rated program of the night with a 1.6 rating among adults 18-49 and 6.9 million total viewers.” That would make 2012 the fifth year out of the last six that Cecil B. DeMille’s epic swan song claimed the top ratings spot the night before Easter. Holy Moses, etc… [ TV By the Numbers via Big Hollywood ]
Despite last week’s report to the contrary , it’s not especially surprising to hear that Gary Ross is not quite out as the director of the Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire : Various sources have followed up initial word of Ross’s franchise departure with news of predictable-enough salary disputes over ridiculously large sums of money that would push any spin machine into overdrive. So buckle up — first for Deadline’s counterattack explaining why Ross has logical reason to leave the blockbuster series : The Seabiscuit director knows the benefit of riding in a winner and not switching horses midstream. Ross lobbied hard to get The Hunger Games and turned it into the biggest hit of his directing career. Before that, he developed several serious historical dramatic projects under his deal at Universal that didn’t get off the ground. Staying for a sure-fire hit and a sequel that audiences actually want to see makes a lot of sense for Ross, particularly given how active the filmmaker has been in the construction of Catching Fire . Hmm. OK? I mean, of course Ross reportedly backed out on creative and professional terms (whatever), which, if we were to take at face value, would imply that the Catching Fire upside isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. But since we don’t take things at face value — particularly after a third consecutive number-one weekend at the box office — let David Poland walk you through the prospective, dizzying economics of it all: [F]or the director/co-writer of four films to be paid, at best, 2.5% of the NET revenues on a franchise like this does not seem excessive or abusively demanding. And if Gary Ross has to settle for 5 years of his professional life going for $20 million… $25 million… well… ya know… he’d have a legacy… he might improve as a director (he’s a decent director, but still a writer first)… he’d have the career lesson of a steady, defined gig, and the money doesn’t exactly suck. In an industry of few sure things, one thing is sure. We know that [Lionsgate] is NOT going to lose money on paying Gary Ross $40 million for the next 3 films. Step up. Stop being greedy pigs. Do it like the grown up studios. And get on with it already. Yeah! Like, now , because as you might have heard , Jennifer Lawrence has an X-Men sequel to shoot: [S]ources say the filmmaker is concerned about an ambitious production schedule that would require shooting to begin in August so that star Jennifer Lawrence can complete her work before she is due to start filming a sequel to Fox’s X-Men: First Class in January. Since Fox’s deal with Lawrence predates her contract for Hunger Games , X-Men is in a priority position. With the script for the second Hunger Games not yet locked, that means all preparations for a sequel would have to be done in four months — a tough schedule to meet. What ever will happen? (Hint: Ross will get paid, and happy fans will go on to push The Hunger Games franchise into a $3 billion juggernaut.) Stay tuned… [ Deadline , The Hot Blog , THR ] Follow S.T. With all the hot pictures of Maria Menounos coming out over the last few weeks thanks to Dancing With The Stars , I would have thought that a few upskirt pictures would be right around the corner. I guess not. Being the professional hottie that she is, Maria managed to save herself the embarrassment of flashing the world her lady business. That’s fine for her, but what about the Tuna? I could have used a sneak peek this morning. Thanks for nothing.

Lamar Hurd, a Portland sportscaster, is lobbying – and has already garnered great support – to become the first African-American star of ABC’s The Bachelor. According to his professional-looking audition video (below), Lamar’s assistant Tammy first came up with the idea to submit an application on his behalf. “Let’s say I wanted to go on it, and was willing to do it, they haven’t even had a black Bachelor,” Lamar said of his initial resistance to apply. But he did! Lamar Hurd For The Bachelor! If the video tells us anything, it’s that Lamar Hurd is clearly telegenic, comfortable on camera, humble and shirtless a lot. Really, how can he go wrong?! More importantly, he seems charismatic and charming, yet measured. Fun enough to lure viewers in, boring enough to be a non-polarizing blank slate. Plus, the racial element would be one heck of a hook for the new season. Lack of diversity is one of our top five complaints about the show (the other four being overuse of the word “journey”, lame metaphors equating bungee jumping to romance, cringe-worthy grammar, i.e. “Ben and I’s relationship”, and Courtney Robertson ). It’s unclear if ABC would go for a non-white Bachelor , since past runner-ups have been good for ratings, or what the racial makeup of young women would be. And is America even ready for the first minority Bachelor? Given that they’ve already had a cyborg on there twice ( Brad Womack ), we’d say yes. Please. Would you wanna see Lamar Hurd as The Bachelor?

Kim Kardashian has been flour bombed. As previously reported, the professional celebrity was doing what she does best last night in Los Angeles – posing on a red carpet – when a young woman ran up and doused her with a bag of white powder later identified as basic cooking flour. “I’m fine,” Kardashian told E! News after the incident. “You have to laugh it off! I brushed off and came right back out.” She also didn’t press charges against the culprit, who was detained by police and then released. What does it say that a tiny percentage of the THG staff wonders whether Kim concocted this flap on her own for the sake of publicity and sympathy? Just the obvious, we suppose. Watch footage from the event now: Kim Kardashian: Flour Bombed!
