Mo Money Mo Problems: $27 Million Dollar Powerball Winner Passes Away Dead Broke In Hospice

So sad… $27 Million Dollar Powerball Winner Passes Away Dead Broke David Lee Edwards, the ex-felon from Kentucky who won the $27 million Powerball in 2001 , has died broke, and in hospice. Via Broward Palm Beach reports: As reported by New Times in 2007, Edwards had managed to blow his entire fortune within just five years. He and his wife Shawna went from living in a lavish Florida mansion decorated with medieval armor, to a Kentucky storage unit container filled with human feces. See also: Powerfall: For David Lee Edwards, winning the lottery was a wild rocket ride And now, just 12 years after striking it rich, Edwards has died penniless, and alone, at age 58. Edwards was a convicted felon who had spent a third of his life behind bars when he walked into a Kentucky convenient store and bought $7 worth of lottery tickets. When he won, he opted for the one-time payout, rather than the annual payments. And within a year of being an instant millionaire, Edwards went on a spending spree. He threw down $12 million in that first year alone, buying himself and Shawna a 6,000-square-foot mansion in Palm Beach with a private tennis court for $1.6 million, dozens of expensive cars, and a LearJet with a personal pilot worth $600,000. His Palm Beach neighbors complained that Edwards had so many cars in his driveway, that it looked like a car dealership. He also spent on three losing racehorses, a limo business, and a fiber optics installation company. He also spent lavishly on medieval armor and swords to decorate his mansion — most of it cheap knock offs of originals. But Edwards also had a drug problem. He and Shawna contracted hepatitis from sharing tainted needles, while she had an Oxycontin addiction. The two had multiple run-ins with authorities. Within five years, he was broke. And once the money dried up, Shawna left him and remarried. Edwards tried to do right by his winnings. Shortly after falling into his fortune, he had vowed to spend it right, to make it last for Shawna and his daughter. He even hired a financial adviser, James Gibbs. Gibbs invested some of the winnings in stocks and bonds. But Edwards sold them all off. “If he followed my advice,” Gibbs told New Times in 2007, “he’d be pulling in about $85,000 a month for the rest of his life.” On Tuesday, Edwards’ daughter, Tiffani Lee Edwards, said that her father had died penniless and alone. And that he had left her nothing, not even a life insurance policy. “There is NO MONEY anywhere!!!!” she wrote on Facebook. A very sad story. The poor guy had a very troubled life before winning the Lottery but it seemed the money only slowed and lengthened the tragic inevitable. Do you feel bad for the man?

Evander Holyfield: Gays are Handicapped, Can Be Fixed By a Doctor

Evander Holyfield, a former Heavyweight Champion who made a living knocking opponents around in the ring, pulled no punches this weekend in a controversial clip from UK Celebrity Big Brother. Speaking to housemate Luisa Zissman, Holyfield referred to the bible and said homosexuality is not a choice. He added that being gay is a “handicap” and the condition can be fixed by a doctor. In the following footage, the ex-athlete is taken aside and berated by producers for his “inappropriate” comments, which Holyfield acknowledges could be offensive. But he doesn’t offer an apology. Evander Holyfield: Gays Can Be Fixed! For the record: Holyfield has fathered 12 children by six women, has been divorced three times and was held in contempt of court in 2012 for failing to pay over 500K in fatherhood. He was also accused three years ago of beating his wife because she didn’t put God first .

Scott Disick’s Father Passes Away

Two months after losing his mother , Scott Disick is now dealing with another family tragedy: His father passed away this weekend. No cause of death has been released for Jeffrey Disick, but our thoughts go out to the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star. Disick never commented publicly on his mom’s passing, though sources confirm he and Kourtney Kardashian attended a small funeral for the parent to whom he was very close in early November. Jeffrey, meanwhile, was a real estate developer. He and his late wife raised Scott as an only child in Long Island. In 2012, Jeffrey was arrested for grand larceny. He eventually pleaded guilty to guilty to a misdemeanor charge of petty larceny, paid $6,500 in restitution and was sentenced to 140 hours of community service. We send our prayers to Scott and his loved ones.

Jesus Take The Wheel: Baby Girl Dies After Skull And Spine Are Broken During Forceps Delivery

So sad. Baby Dies After Skull And Spine Are Crushed During Forceps Delivery One doctor’s medical mistake ended this precious baby’s life before it even started. According to ABC News: Olivia Marie Coats lived for five days after her parents allege a forceps delivery crushed her little skull and caused brain death. Now, they have launched a Facebook campaign to stop the use of forceps in all births. Allen Coats, 25, and his fiancee Rachel Melancon, 24, say they will sue their obstetrician, Dr. George T. Backardjiev, but not The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, where their daughter was born on Dec. 28. The baby was transferred that day to Houston’s Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, which confirmed the baby died on Jan. 2. Coats, a pipe fitter and the baby’s father, told ABCNews.com, “I can’t bring it to myself to talk to people at the moment — sorry.” “We’re not mad at hospital, this is not their fault. It is one man’s fault,” Angie Cotes, the baby’s grandmother told ABCNews.com. “We only want justice for Olivia; we want the person responsible, which is the doctor. This is a shame….and waaaaaaay too sad. Angie Coats, 43, of Nederland, Texas, said her daughter-in-law was “itty bitty” — 4-feet-11 and 95 pounds — before she was pregnant. “[Backardjiev] said, ‘No, you don’t want a C-section. You’ll have a scar,” said Coats, who was present at the birth. “During her delivery, the baby’s heart rate kept going up. He said, ‘One more hour, one more hour.’ Her water broke, but it was 18 hours until the delivery. [Rachel] was running a 103 fever… Five hours passed, then he came in and she started to push. But she was so worn out and the baby wasn’t even in the birth canal.” Coats alleges that the baby was face up and Backardjiev tried unsuccessfully to turn her with his hands. “When he couldn’t do that, he took the small forceps to try to pull the baby out. He kept going and even put his foot up on the bed trying to pull,” she said. “He was turning and twisting and she would never come out. He put the forceps one way and the other. When he touched the top and side of the skull, we heard a pop, like clay cracking in pottery and heard her skull crush.” The parents aren’t mad at the hospital, but they should be. The hospital should have made sure the doctor was properly trained to avoid this tragedy. Facebook

Jesus Take The Wheel: Student Dies After Crashing Her Car In Frozen River On New Year’s Day

This is sad. Student Dies After Crashing Car In Frozen River It’s a shame she died on New Year’s Day, which is suppose to be a day of new beginnings. She died before her full potential was realized. SMH. According to Lacrosse Tribune: Ellen “Ellie” Ahmann had a passion to succeed. The 21-year-old Winona State University senior studying finance had just landed her first accounting job and was eager to learn more about her career, her mother Barb Ahmann remembered today. “She looked forward to the future,” she said. Ahmann’s future was cut short early New Year’s Day when she failed to make a curve at Jackson Street and Norplex Drive and plunged down a 40-foot embankment onto the ice-coated Isle La Plume Slough. Her Toyota Camry did not immediately break through; Ahmann drove south until she reached thin ice. A La Crosse Municipal Transit Utility supervisor spotted the tire tracks at the top of the embankment about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities used underwater cameras to find Ahmann’s submerged car and pulled it from the chilly waters about 1:30 p.m. She was the lone occupant. An autopsy rescheduled until today in Madison will determine what caused Ahmann’s death and whether drugs or alcohol played a role. Barb Ahmann said the outpouring of support on her daughter’s Facebook page in the wake of her death is a testament to those she reached. “She was a person who loved people,” she said. Barb Ahmann last saw her daughter over the holidays, when the family traveled from Woodbury, Minn., to Nebraska to celebrate. Ahmann is survived by her parents and three brothers, all who are “so proud of her,” her mother said. “She was so loved and one of those young people who really wanted to make a difference in people’s lives,” she said. Prayers go out to her family. Facebook

Group Lovin’ Gone Wrong: NY Woman Beaten To Death By Her Married Couple Live-In Lovers

This is a crazy story that should serve as a cautionary tale to people considering polyamorous relationships . When they go wrong they can be fatal. According to NY Times reports : Sheryl Outerbridge, a 38-year-old mother of three, was buried last Wednesday in New Jersey, hours after her funeral service in Harlem. One of the suspects in her death, Devonnee Wilkerson, was arrested and charged with kidnapping and assault; her husband, Malik Wilkerson, was in custody in Pittsburgh and awaiting extradition to New York, the police said. In a statement to the police, Ms. Wilkerson explained what precipitated the violent act. Ms. Outerbridge, she said, violated a cardinal rule of their relationship by getting a tattoo for her birthday: it said “Bish Baby,” Ms. Wilkerson’s pet name for her husband. “There are boundaries not to cross,” Ms. Wilkerson told the police.” SMH. And this is why these situations go wrong. Someone is always the odd person out in these love triangles and not everyone is able to handle the rejection, but apparently the relationship started out more promising. A close friend, Nicole Irving, recalled that Ms. Outerbridge had met Malik Wilkerson at a party over three years ago, and confided that she had an abusive boyfriend whom she was afraid to leave. Mr. Wilkerson confronted the boyfriend and scared him off, Ms. Irving said. Shortly after, Mr. Wilkerson, who was known as Bishop, moved into Ms. Outerbridge’s small Harlem apartment. So did his wife. Known as Phoenix, Ms. Wilkerson had long dreadlocks and gaunt features behind wire-rimmed spectacles; they were a sharp contrast to Ms. Outerbridge’s round face, full lips and glossy hair. The two women appeared close: Ms. Outerbridge’s Facebook page is packed with photos of their exploits. There were visits to meet the celebrity chef Bobby Flay at Bobby’s Burger Palace in Garden City, N.Y., where Ms. Wilkerson worked; and trips to Rockaway Beach. There they snapped a self-portrait, Mr. Wilkerson between them. Ms. Outerbridge was plain about her new lifestyle, once bringing the man she called the Don to a family cookout. When the Wilkersons moved back to the two-family vinyl-sided house owned by their relatives in South Jamaica, Queens, their new girlfriend came with them. She had her own room in the untidy two-bedroom apartment. Are we the only ones wondering where Sheryl’s three kids were in all this? With their dad or another relative? It’s sad those kids have to be without a mother, especially because there were warning signs: As frank as Ms. Outerbridge was about her three-way relationship, she tried to keep its brutal reality to herself, but that became increasingly difficult. She would return to her Harlem apartment with black eyes, a split lip, “a small map of Texas on her cheek, like somebody took the cigarette and dragged it up her face,” Ms. Irving said. Last month, Ms. Outerbridge told another friend, Tasheka Neal, 31, that Mr. Wilkerson had broken her jaw. She suggested that the love triangle was lopsided — she indicated to her friends that her true relationship was with the man, and that his wife simply capitulated to his will. Her forays to Harlem and her pet cat there never lasted long. “When she would come home, they would come and show up and knock on her door,” said Ms. Irving, referring to the Wilkersons. They would order Ms. Outerbridge back to Queens. On Monday, Dec. 2, Ms. Outerbridge fled the Wilkersons, and they wanted her back. Mr. Wilkerson began calling many of Ms. Outerbridge’s friends, his voice breaking with rage when they answered. He told them he suspected she was with other men. According to a transcript of statements Ms. Wilkerson made to the police, the Wilkersons drove around Queens in the Town and Country, searching for Ms. Outerbridge in the dark of Tuesday morning. They found her at a train station in Jamaica, and forcefully took her to their home in Queens. Her clothes came off. Visible, on her buttock, was the new tattoo she had gotten for her birthday in late October. “She should have never gotten that tattoo, because I am his wife and that kind of tattoo is reserved for me,” Ms. Wilkerson told the police. The couple beat Ms. Outerbridge in turns, first pummeling her temples, then battering her legs with the paint roller, still lying in the house. Her pleas for help were accompanied by calls of “Daddy,” Ms. Wilkerson’s pet name for her husband, enraging his wife further. “I snapped again,” she told detectives. “That was another boundary not to cross.” Ms. Wilkerson told the police she threw a beer bottle at Ms. Outerbridge’s head, and jabbed a lit cigarette into her skin. Then they beat her some more, using fists and a hammer, and left her close to death on the floor. The next morning, Ms. Wilkerson said, she and another man took Ms. Outerbridge to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The other man, who has not been identified, was said to be cooperating with the police. Based on Mr. Wilkerson’s phone calls the night before the killing, some speculated that he might have been crazed by the prospect of her seeing other men. But his wife’s fury had a different root. Toward the end of her questioning by detectives, Ms. Wilkerson admitted something she had kept to herself to that point. “I know,” she said, “Malik had fallen in love with Sheryl.” This is like something straight from “Snapped.” SMH. R.I.P. to that poor woman. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

People Ain’t Isht: N. Carolina Mother Suing Hospital Security For Putting Dead “Uncooperative” Son In Cab For 45 Minute Ride Home!

Wait, what?!? ! Hospital Sued By Mother After Sending Dead Son Home In A Cab Via UPI A North Carolina mother is suing AlliedBarton Security Services after she says they put her son in a taxi and sent him home even though he was already dead. Hospital security guards sent, A’Darrin Washington, who they claimed was “uncooperative” and “refusing to talk or move,” home from Cumberland County Hospital on Nov. 22, 2011. A’Darrin had been going to the hospital for 10 years for treatment for recurrent pneumonia associated with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. On Nov. 14, A’Darrin was admitted to the hospital and misdiagnosed with bacterial pneumonia. After he was correctly diagnosed with fungal pneumonia and given the proper medication, the hospital said he was ready to be discharged on Nov. 21 even though he was still feeling weak and ill. When hospital called a taxi service to take A’Darrin home the next day, AlliedBarton Security guards moved him from a wheelchair and into the cab, according to his mother. “(A) nurse called for security to escort Mr. Washington from his hospital bed to the lobby for discharge because Mr. Washington was allegedly ‘uncooperative’ and ‘refusing to talk or move,’” the complaint states. “Mr. Washington was unresponsive due to the fact that he was dying.” Deborah Washington claims that the guards put her son in the taxi and even crossed his legs. When he arrived at home after a 45-minute trip, he was “unresponsive and cold to the touch.” She is seeking compensatory and punitive damages for negligence, wrongful death and negligent infliction of emotional distress. How the HELL do not know that this kid was dead?! Hope this hospital is ready to come off that gwap! Image via Shutterstock
