Damn that’s terrible… Father Chokes To Death Hours After Walking His Daughter Down The Aisle At Wedding Via MirrorUK A father choked to death at his daughter’s wedding reception just hours after walking her down the aisle, an inquest heard. Jagan Babwah, 73, beamed with pride as he gave his daughter Camela away during her lavish wedding ceremony at a picturesque castle owned by Jools Holland. But just two hours later the cabbie began choking on a piece of lamb in the post-wedding feast and guests desperately tried to save him with the Heimlich manoeuvre. Despite their efforts Mr Babwah suffered a cardiac arrest and was later pronounced dead by paramedics on May 31 this year. Camela bravely decided to continue the wedding in tribute to her much-loved father, which is what she believes he would have wanted. The 160-guest reception and evening party continued – but Camela never heard her proud dad’s wedding speech. One dead daddy don’t stop no wedding reception. She revealed that the hardest point was when she had to open up her father’s wedding card the very next day. “To be honest opening the card was the hardest part,” she said. “I opened it the next day and he had given us some money towards our honeymoon. “We were thinking of going to Mexico but we had to cancel it. “Now I can’t put my wedding cards up because I have so many sympathy cards. “For weeks after I felt like I didn’t want to celebrate. Kyrgyzstan Fears Bubonic Plague Outbreak After Groundhog BBQ Leads To Teenager’s Death Via DailyMail An outbreak of the deadly bubonic plague has tormented the former Soviet republic of Kyrgyzstan after the death of a 15-year-old boy. Three more people showed symptoms of the ‘Black Death’, and in total 131 came into contact with the victim. More than 800 people have been screened in the town of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The disease wiped out tens of millions in 14th century Europe. It was reported that 15-year-old Temirbek Isakunov died after eating a barbecued groundhog infected with the lethal virus, yet another account suggests he became infected after being bitten by an oriental flea carried by a marmot that he reportedly prepared for food. Eastern districts of the mountainous country were in ‘lockdown’ last night as officials sought to prevent the plague spreading. Neighbouring Kazakhstan urged its people not to travel to the country, and introduced ‘special monitoring’ of those crossing the border. Three villagers who were in contact with the dead teenager – a woman with a toddler and a teenager – show symptoms of bubonic plague, admitted a government source. Might wanna cop you a “Outbreak” suit if you plan on visiting Kyrgyzstan any time…ever. ‘While fighting for the life of the teenager, doctors gave the boy 17 different drugs which made it difficult to make an accurate diagnosis,’ admitted Kyrgyzstan’s Health Ministry. As many as 19 doctors are among those being monitored for signs of the disease. All have been put in quarantine and are undergoing preventative treatment. Groundhogs are a natural carrier of the deadly disease and were targeted for extermination in the Soviet Union, but the Kyrgyz authorities stopped poisoning them from 1982 onward due to the costs involved. ‘The teenager turned for medical aid in the district hospital with the health complaints for running temperature and bubonic inflammations on August 22,’ said the healthy ministry in capital Bishkek. ‘He was immediately taken to hospital in the surgery ward. Dean Meminger is now hoopin’ on the shiny new court in the sky… Ex-Knicks Player Dean Meminger Dies At Age 65 Via HuffingtonPost Dean Meminger, the former Marquette guard who played a reserve role on the New York Knicks’ 1973 NBA championship team, was found dead Friday in a Manhattan hotel room. He was 65. New York City police said staff at the Hamilton Heights Hotel found Meminger unconscious and unresponsive inside a room and emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead. Police said there were no signs of trauma and that the cause of death hadn’t been determined. They said an investigation is ongoing. “We want to thank everyone for their prayers and condolences during this difficult time for our family,” Meminger’s family said in a statement. “Dean ‘The Dream’ Meminger touched the hearts of so many on and off the basketball court. Through basketball and education, he helped countless people around the country receive scholarships, high school and college admissions, and even employment.” Meminger averaged 6.1 points in six seasons with the Knicks and Atlanta Hawks. A former New York City prep star at Rice High School, Meminger led Marquette to a 78-9 mark in three varsity seasons, averaging 18.8 points. He averaged 21.2 points as a senior in 1970-71 and was drafted 16th overall by the Knicks. Meminger had short coaching stints with the New York Stars in the Women’s Basketball League, the Albany Patroons in the CBA and the Long Island Knights in the USBL. Finally, friends and family will get to pay their respects . Lee Thompson Young To Be Laid To Rest On Movie Lot According to TMZ Lee Thompson Young will be laid to rest this week … and TMZ has learned the actor’s funeral service will take place at the legendary Paramount Pictures lot in Hollywood. We’ve learned … the service has been set for Friday afternoon … on the lot where his show “Rizzoli & Isles” is filmed. We’re told hundreds of people are expected to attend. In lieu of flowers, Young’s family is asking friends and fans to make a donation to the Young Storytellers Foundation, an organization which helps expose underprivileged kids to the arts. As we previously reported, Young was found dead this week inside his LA home with a self inflicted gun shot wound. Police still have no clue why he took his own life. Young was 29. It’s a shame someone didn’t reach out to the young man to prevent this tragedy. He seemed like such a great talent. R.I.P.

Sid Bernstein Dies; Legendary Music Promoter Was 95

Sid Bernstein, a legendary music promoter who booked such top acts as Jimi Hendrix, Judy Garland, The Beatles and the Rolling Stones, has died. He was 95 years old. Bernstein’s daughter, Casey Deutsch, said he died in his sleep at NYC’s Lenox Hill Hospital. She cited no specific illness, and said he passed away of natural causes on Wednesday. Bernstein hit the highest of heights when he masterminded the Beatles’ historic concerts at Shea Stadium and Carnegie Hall, during their prime. For decades on end, the squat, floppy-haired Bernstein excelled like few others at the lost arts of being everywhere and knowing everybody. He worked with Garland, Duke Ellington and Ray Charles, promoted Dion, Bobby Darin and Chubby Checker, and managed Esy Morales, the Rascals and Ornette Coleman. He was an early backer of ABBA, and was behind one of the first rock benefit shows, the 1970 “Winter Festival for Peace” at Madison Square Garden. That show featured Hendrix and Peter, Paul and Mary. Also noteworthy was the fact that Sid Bernstein helped revive Tony Bennett’s career with a 1962 show at Carnegie Hall, cementing both of their legends. R.I.P.

3-Year-Old Boy Dies After Shooting Himself With Family Gun An Ohio man is set to face charges and possible prison time after the 3-year-old son of his friend fatally shot himself in the head with a gun that he found in his home. via CNN A 3-year-old boy in a small Michigan town was killed over the weekend when he accidentally shot himself in the head with a gun he found on the closet floor of his home. The shooting death will undoubtedly renew the debate about gun safety, particularly after the boy’s father took to Facebook calling for it. The incident took place Sunday at a home in Dundee, near the Ohio border. Police said Damon Holbrook discovered the gun, which belonged to a family friend who was living in the house. Authorities told CNN affiliate WXYZ that the family friend, Joshua Greenhill, had a concealed pistol license and he put the .40 caliber handgun in the closet. It was loaded, with a bullet in the chamber — but was not locked. Three other children were in the house at the time. Greenhill, was charged with careless discharge of a firearm — a misdemeanor which carries a sentence of up to 2 years in prison or a fine of $2,000 What is it with people keeping their registered guns in easy-to-find places??? Elmore Leonard Dies; Acclaimed Writer was 87

Elmore Leonard, the beloved writer behind numerous books and short stories that have been turned into Hollywood fare, passed away today at his home in Detroit. He was 87 years old. The author suffered a stroke three weeks ago and his death was confirmed this morning by his researcher via the following Facebook message: “The post I dreaded to write, and you dreaded to read. Elmore passed away at 7:15 this morning from complications from his stroke.” “He was at home surrounded by his loving family.” Among Elmore Leonard’s writings that have been turned into television shows or movies are: Out of Sight , Be Cool , 3:10 to Yuma and Justified . Leonard was born in New Orleans but has resided in Detroit for the past 34 years. We send our condolences to his friends and family members.

After he made it big as a Disney star, he went on to play running back Chris Comer in the 2004 movie “Friday Night Lights.” Story developing … Wow! Our condolences to the West and Williams family. Yeezy’s granddaddy recently passed away and he and Kim brought baby Nori to Oklahoma to attend his funeral. Via People.com reports : Kim Kardashian and family once again left home, this time for a somber reason. The reality starlet and Kanye West went to Oklahoma with 2-month-old daughter North on Saturday for the funeral for the rapper’s grandfather, Portwood Williams Sr., who died on Aug. 10 at 98 years old. “That’s why they weren’t at [sister] Kylie’s birthday,” a source confirms to PEOPLE. “They brought North, too. Her first trip.” Back in February, Williams voiced his approval for his grandson’s girlfriend, calling Kardashian “beautiful.” “And she’s just as sweet as she is beautiful,” he told New York’s Daily News. “That’s what I liked about her!” Because they weren’t able to celebrate Jenner’s Sweet 16th party on Saturday, the couple – who welcomed their new addition on June 15 – sent some very special guests in their replacement: hip-hop artists Drake and Big Sean. The rest of the family, including Khloé Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and parents Kris and Bruce Jenner, were in attendance at the Alice in Wonderland-themed bash, reports E! News.
