MTV’s ‘Power Of 12: Our Voice’: Watch It Now!

Short film follows Andrew Jenks on the campaign trail with young voters, and the GOP candidates courting them. By James Montgomery Andrew Jenks speaks with young voters in “Power of 12: Our Voice” Photo: MTV News In December, filmmaker Andrew Jenks hit the road to talk with young voters — and the Republican candidates currently courting them — as part of MTV’s Power of 12 campaign, our ongoing coverage of the 2012 election. And, well, let’s hope he packed a big suitcase. Because for the next 11 months — from the pre-primary stump speeches to the last minute of Election night — Jenks will be working overtime for MTV , covering the race for the White House and amplifying the voices of the 45 million voters ages 18 to 29, who not only make up one of the largest voting blocs, but genuinely hold the power to swing the election. The first of his reports, “Our Voice,” premiered Tuesday (December 20) on MTV, and can be seen in this story. In it, we follow Jenks as he crosses the country interviewing young voters — everyone from high-school students concerned about attending college and members of the ongoing Occupy Wall Street protests to the recently graduated unemployed and returning war veterans. The 25-year-old filmmaker gets their take on the issues that matter the most, and scores face time with a handful of Republican presidential hopefuls, including Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney and Ron Paul. “Our Voice” is just the first phase MTV’s “Power of 12” series, which will also include the MTV News docu-series “When I Was 22,” which gives viewers a unique look at the lives of the men who may be president, painting a portrait of each candidate in their early 20s. The online game “Fantasy Election ’12” will allow users to draft a team of candidates pursuing the White House, Senate and House of Representatives, and rack up points, just like in fantasy baseball or football. The first-of-its kind game also rewards players for getting involved in the electoral process — they’ll get extra points for registering to vote, “checking in” to town halls and debates, and discussing issues with friends. MTV News will begin its coverage of the election on the ground in Iowa and New Hampshire, with Jenks and MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway at the helm. SNL Spoofs Herman Cain’s Exit From Presidential Race [VIDEO]

The rest is here:

Saturday Night Live didn’t waste any time poking fun at one-time Presidential candidate Herman Cain’s decision to end his bid for the GOP’s nomination. Cain announced that he was dropping out of the race after a woman named Ginger White alleged that she had a 13-year-long affair with Cain and several other women claimed that they were sexually harassed by the Georgia businessman. Cast member Kenan Thompson revisited his spot-on impersonation of Cain, joking that “I scheduled an appointment with my wife. We had a productive discussion while she glared at me listening to Mary J. Blige .” RELATED POSTS: SPOOF: Mike Tyson Finds His Inner Herman Cain [VIDEO]

Justin Bieber Tops Kim Kardashian As Bing’s Most-Searched Person

Bieber overtakes last year’s champ on search engine’s annual list of the year’s most-Binged people. By James Montgomery Justin Bieber Photo: FilmMagic Having already bested Lady Gaga in the race to 2 billion YouTube views, Justin Bieber can now lay claim to another e-title: He’s just been named the year’s most-searched person on Internet search engine Bing, edging out his old pal Kim Kardashian for the title. Yes, Bieber sits atop Bing’s annual list of the most-searched people of 2011, making the leap from #6 on last year’s list and knocking Kardashian down from the top spot, which she held last year. Jennifer Aniston came in at #3 on the list (up from #9 in 2010), and a whole host of other females — including Lindsay Lohan, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus — round out the top 10. Bieber was the only male to make Bing’s most-searched people list, which last year featured Jesse James, Michael Jackson, Tiger Woods and Barack Obama (who plummeted from #5 to #49 in 2011 … always a good sign in the lead-up to an election) in the top 10. Also dropping out of the top 10 were actress Sandra Bullock and reality TV mother-of-the-year Kate Gosselin. Not surprisingly, Bieber also tops Bing’s list of

Lady Gaga Bested By Charlie Brown In Thanksgiving Ratings

‘A Very Gaga Thanksgiving’ couldn’t overtake the classic ‘Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.’ By James Montgomery “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” Photo: CBS Lady Gaga ‘s “A Very Gaga Thanksgiving” special may have been a triumph of overly-glammed performances, cooking segments with celebrity chefs and craft-time activities with third graders , but none of that was enough to overtake a time-tested Turkey Day classic, “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.” Yes, Charlie, Peppermint Patty, Snoopy et al. bested Gaga in the Thanksgiving ratings battle, though the race was much closer than you’d probably expect. (Both programs aired on ABC.) “Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” — first broadcast in 1973 — was watched by some 5.8 million viewers on Thursday night, while “A Very Gaga Thanksgiving” was seen by 5.4 million, according to the Nielsen ratings . Both drew roughly the same audience share in the 18-49 age demo, though neither could compete with the big Thanksgiving-night winner: a repeat of CBS’s “The Big Bang Theory,” which was watched by more than 11 million viewers. Fox’s “Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas” was the most-viewed holiday special, watched by some 7.1 million folks. And though it couldn’t beat “Big Bang” or the animated “Ice Age” critters, “A Very Gaga Thanksgiving” did perform rather solidly. In fact, it managed to beat a whole lot of competing prime-time Thanksgiving programming, including NBC’s re-airing of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (3.7 million viewers) and another Charlie Brown special, “Happiness Is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown,” which was watched by 5 million viewers. In the days leading up to her big Thanksgiving debut, Gaga took to Twitter to announce the release of a specially priced holiday EP, A Very Gaga Holiday. Then, again, Charlie Brown had her beat there, too: A Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack was first released in 1965, after all. Related Artists Lady Gaga

Britney Spears Video Tournament Down To Sweet 16!

‘Toxic’ and ‘Oops! I Did It Again’ sail into round two, while ‘Sometimes’ and ‘I Wanna Go’ are early casualties. By Vaughn Trudeau Schoonmaker Britney Spears Photo: Jive After a surprisingly tight race among the 30 Britney Spears music videos in the first round of MTV News’ Britney Spears Tournament: 30 Videos for 30 Years , we are now down to 16 candidates for her best video of all time! Perez Hilton and Jordan Miller of BreatheHeavy.com helped the MTV News correspondents weigh in on the first round, which saw the surprising and merciless elimination of the classic “Sometimes” and the newer hit “I Wanna Go.” “I think that ‘I Wanna Go’ is one of Britney’s all-time best videos,” Perez said of the clip, which was defeated by her even newer video for “Criminal,” co-starring real-life boyfriend Jason Trawick. “I like the ‘Criminal’ video; I don’t love it.” Meanwhile, some videos were huge leaders early on, like “Toxic,” “Oops! I Did It Again,” “I’m a Slave 4 U,” “Me Against the Music” and early “TRL”-era hit “(You Drive Me) Crazy.” Head over to Britney30.MTV.com and vote for your favorite music video in MTV News’ Britney Spears Tournament: 30 Videos for 30 Years. The race between “Lucky” and “Boys” was a closer call than MTV News expected, with only a 7 percent margin between the two videos; “Lucky” was the eventual winner. Another interesting twist was the dark “My Prerogative” clip’s triumph over the happy-go-lucky vibe of “Sometimes.” With 16 videos left, the race gets much tighter. Now, Britney’s most epic and most-celebrated videos will be up against each other. “(You Drive Me) Crazy” will take on the double-pop queen-powered “Me Against the Music,” featuring Madonna, while Britney’s first video, ” … Baby One More Time,” takes on her most recent clip, “Criminal.” “Till the World Ends” and “Piece of Me,” which had byes in the first round, are no longer safe, as they are pitted against “My Prerogative” and “Hold It Against Me,” respectively, in round two, which closes at 11:59 p.m. Sunday. The Elite Eight will be announced at 7 a.m. Monday. Help your favorite videos win by voting as many times as you can and campaigning. What’s your favorite Britney video? Herman “Big Daddy” Cain Says He Will Be The GOP Nominee Because Black People Will Vote For Him

Who’s voting for Big Herm??? In a new Iowa mailer, Herman Cain says he believes he will be the 2012 GOP nominee because he’s a descendant of slaves who can garner a large share of the black vote, he didn’t inherit a dime, he has traveled the globe for years, and he’s a believer in Jesus Christ. “The news media and the Republican establishment are stunned!” says the first line of the seven-page mailer. “I am now the front runner in the race for the Republican Presidential campaign and the highly regarded Rasmussen poll shows me defeating President Obama.” But then he asks Iowans to tell him which of the other candidates they’re supporting, saying “there are lots of good folks in the race.” A “poll” asks people to check a box for a candidate among a list of nine in alphabetical order, including Gary Johnson. Cain lists several points on why he thinks he will win the nomination, including that “as a descendent of slaves I can lead the Republican party to victory by garnering a large share of the black vote, something that has not been done since Dwight Eisenhower garnered 41 percent of the black vote in 1956.” Time will tell if Herman Cain becomes the GOP Nominee, but do you agree with his logic here??? Even after he called black people brainwashed?? Source

Michelle Obama, Jill Biden Booed by NASCAR Fans

First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden, wife of the Vice President, served as grand marshals yesterday prior to a NASCAR race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. They were on hand to promote the military family-based project Joining Forces, starting the race along with a wounded veteran named Andrew Berry and his family. And the famous wives were audibly booked upon being introduced to the crowd. Hear for yourself: Michelle Obama Booed by NASCAR Fans The sports governing body downplayed the response via a statement by Marcus Jadotte, NASCAR vice president of public affairs. It reads: “The NASCAR community and the vast majority of those attending our race Sunday welcomed the first lady and Dr. Jill Biden and the military families in attendance. We are proud to support military families across the country and proud to support the Joining Forces initiative.” But, come on, we have ears. We can hear the negative reaction of many in attendance. Which leads us to ask: Booing the First Lady during a non-political appearance? Right or wrong?
