Olbermann Claims FNC ‘Says ‘Indefensible & Even Racist Things’ Like Helen Thomas

On Friday’s Countdown show, after having decided not to include Helen Thomas in his “Worst Person” segment for her anti-Semitic declaration that Jews should “get the hell out of Palestine” and “go home” to Germany and Poland, MSNBC host Keith Olbermann included Fox News Sunday anchor Chris Wallace in his “Worst Person” segment for suggesting that it would be “poetic justice” if Fox News were to be given her seat in the White House briefing room. Olbermann went on to claim that FNC personalities are guilty of making comments that are similarly racist as compared to Thomas’s attack on Israeli Jews: “Wallace thus implying that a far right entity that occasionally says indefensible and even racist things should replace a far left entity that occasionally said indefensible and even racist things.” On Wednesday’s Countdown show, Olbermann had similarly found a reason to include in his “Worst Person” segment the rabbi who exposed Thomas’s anti-Semitism, even though Thomas herself was never included in the segment. Below is a transcript of the relevant portion of the Friday, June 11, Countdown show on MSNBC: Runner up, Chris Wallace of Fox, saying his place, its own kind of get rich quick pitch, should get Helen Thomas`s front row seat in the White House press room. “This is actually kind of interesting because I think it would be the final sort of back payment for Helen Thomas if this were to happen because, obviously, she was very far to the left wing. And if her seat were to be taken by Fox News, it would be kind of poetic justice.” Wallace thus implying that a far right entity that occasionally says indefensible and even racist things should replace a far left entity that occasionally said indefensible and even racist things. When his implication was pointed out to him by a Fox interviewer, he said, “I just realized that`s probably not the way to go on this. We`re fair and balanced. That`s the point.” Chris, good luck with the rest of the toothpaste.

Will the 2010 World Cup unite South Africa?

Football is historically popular with black South Africans, with whites preferring cricket and rugby. Back in 1995 when South Africa won the Rugby Union World Cup on home soil, the nation was briefly united in victory. Fifteen years on, can the football World Cup achieve something more lasting? Al Jazeera’s Jonah Hull reports on the start of the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa as the country still battles to fulfil Nelson Mandela’s dream of racial equality. Rabbi That Filmed Helen Thomas’s Anti-Semitism Gets 25,000 Hate Emails

It’s not just members of the media standing up to support disgraced journalist Helen Thomas after her unscheduled retirement caused by anti-Semitic remarks she made  on camera last week. The rabbi that caught her disgusting comments on videotape and put them on the Internet has received 25,000 hate-email messages – and counting. Hours after MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann actually called Rabbi David Nesenoff one of his “Worst Persons in the World,” CBS-TV in New York reported the vicious electronic attacks streaming into the rabbi’s inbox like a “ticker tape” (video follows with partial transcript, h/t HotAirPundit ): ROB MORRISON, CBS2 NEW YORK: Four days ago Long Island Rabbi David Nesenoff launched his new website with these now-infamous comments from legendary journalist Helen Thomas. MORRISON: The veteran newswoman apologized and then retired. Since then, Rabbi Nesenoff says the hate mail has been pouring in.  RABBI DAVID NESENOFF: As we’re talking here, right now, the emails on my email are like a ticker tape. It’s been this way for a week. It’s going, going, going.  MORRISON: 25,000 and counting — messages like:  “The Jews need to go home just like the filthy illegals that plague America, same (expletive).”  “I know your type you gentile hating Jew boy. Come and face me turd. I’ll smash u under my boot.”  “Hitler was right. Time for you to go back in the oven.”  Most of the senders not even bothering to hide their email addresses.  NESENOFF: These are people that feel very mainstream about anti-Semitism and hate. They feel so proud of it. There is an arrogance about it. There is no shame. There certainly isn’t, nor is there any shame from media members likely missing what the real story is here: rampant anti-Semitism in America and how it goes largely over-looked by our press. In this instance, so-called journalists in their zeal to support Thomas are even defending it. By contrast, any incident of possible racism towards minorities will get great attention by the affirmative action supporting press. Take for example the CNN.com report Wednesday that blamed white people for President Obama’s pathetic response to the Gulf Coast oil spill. Since Obama threw his name into the ring as a presidential candidate back in February 2007, his adoring press have tried to bring race into the discussion whenever possible.  Consider how quickly the Cambridge police department was labeled racist during last July’s Henry Louis Gates Jr. episode. Media then conveniently called it a “teachable moment” about race relations in this country. So why isn’t the nation’s longest living member of the White House press corps making disgustingly anti-Semitic remarks to a rabbi a “teachable moment?” Far from it, as NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell noted Tuesday, “[T]he only soundbites came from sympathetic media colleagues, wishing her well.” So what did Americans learn from THIS moment? If you’re a journalist that makes an anti-Semitic remark, your colleagues will support you. Isn’t that a nice lesson as anti-Semitic acts of violence around the world continue to rise? Or hadn’t you heard that such attacks more than doubled last year? Oh. That’s right. You couldn’t have known that, for our media chose NOT to report it .  Wasn’t that convenient?  Add it all up, and just as our press exploit real or imagined racism to advance their agenda ESPECIALLY if it can help an elected official they support, anti-Semitic acts are not only regularly ignored but also excused if need be. Why this is still the case 65 years after the few surviving Jews were liberated from Nazi death camps after World War II is truly astounding.

America’s Goofiest College Race War [Higher Learning]

Are college kids in San Diego particularly racist, or just, perhaps, particularly dumb? Monday, a ” KKK-style hood ” was found “atop a Dr. Seuss statue” on campus, naturally. Allow us to briefly recap sunny UCSD’s recent reign of racial hullabaloo: On Feb. 15, some idiot frat boys hold a “Compton Cook-Out.” But the thing is these guys were actually white and not from Compton, you see! It was all just a run-of-the-mill, racist joke. It was funny when they ate watermelon there! Also UCSD kids were mad because there is a “satiric” frat boy idiot newspaper there called The Koala , which makes funny cutting-edge jokes about black people, for white people. The Koala apparently did not contribute to the atmosphere of healing in the wake of the “Compton Cook-Out,” if you know what we mean. In response, the UCSD administration planned a “teach-in” about racism. “LAME SAUCE,” was the opinion of our own UCSD correspondent and her non-frat-boy allies. So then, according to our embedded correspondent, the anti-racist UCSD forces “staged a MASSIVE walk-out of the teach in: something like 1000 students and faculty marched right the fuck on out of the administration-sponsored event and held a giant protest and alternative teach-in.” Is the anti-racism teach-in the real enemy here? We’ll leave that to current college students to decide. Then last week, good lord, somebody put a noose in the UCSD. Are there any remaining nooses in America not located on college campuses, at this point? The noose student anonymously apologized, saying it was all a big mistake. Here is our favorite part of that explanation : “I found a small piece of rope on the ground earlier in the day…. My friend then took the rope and tied it into a noose. I innocently marveled at his ability to tie a noose.” Now somebody has put a Klan hood on a Dr. Seuss statue. Maybe it was the Compton Cook-Out guys? Time for another teach-in! And another counterprotest of that sellout teach-in! Repeat, until student loans come due. [Pics: Flickr , Stop Racism at UCSD ]
