Jael Strauss, America’s Next Top Model Alum, Has Stage IV Breast Cancer

I don’t want to die. These are the heartbreaking words penned by Jael Strauss on her Facebook page in a message to fans that relayed the most painful news imaginable: She has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. “I was gonna write some long thing but some of you guys deserve to know,” the 34-year old wrote last week, four days into Breast Cancer Awareness month. She then added very simply: “On October 2nd I was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. It has aggressively spread throughout my body and is incurable.” Stage IV is the final and most serious stage for cancer. It is not always a death sentence, but as Strauss writes here, there is rarely any treatment options for someone that has contracted such an illness. Strauss later confirmed that the name of her illness was rapidly progressive metastatic inflammatory breast cancer. She went on to explain that undergoing chemotherapy and treatment may help extend her doctors’ original prognosis. “With treatment it may prolong my life longer than the “few months” doctors said I could make it,” she added. “I don’t want to die. I need another one of those miracles that I got back in 2013.” Strauss competed on the eighth season of America’s Next Top Model in 2007, finishing six among all contestants. Just this past August, she celebrated five years of sobriety, writing at the time on Instagram; “Today I have 5 years sober. Good God! “I know a few things to be true: Miracles are real, Recovery is possible for everyone no matter how far gone you think you are, We are never too broken to be put back together.” She talked years ago with Dr. Phil about how an intervention by her loved ones allowed her to overcome her addiction.  (Hence the reference above to the year 2013.) “Service work feels better than the greatest high, Sobriety makes you weirder not normal,” she continued last month. “And I’d be dead if it weren’t for all the love and forgiveness I’ve been showered with by my friends and family. Thank you to anyone that’s ever let me sponsor them.” To help offset some of the medical costs, Strauss’ friends have set up a GoFundMe page on her behalf, confirming that the former model has already started chemotherapy. “What we do know is that Jael is putting all of her energy and drive into fighting this insidious disease and can use as much support and love as possible,” reads the fundraising page, noting that: “Jael is in tremendous pain right now and is unable to work. In a month, she will be let go from her job and lose her health insurance.” It adds: Jael, being the selfless person that she is, has helped countless people throughout her life as an advocate for recovery and social justice. She has offered everything she has to people in need; no matter what their situation, she is always ready to help with an empathetic heart and nonjudgmental spirit. She has created “gofundmes” for literally dozens of her friends, and it is now time for us to pay her back. We have the chance, and honestly the obligation, to step up and return the favor. Fatima Ali, Beloved Top Chef Star, Reveals Terminal Cancer Diagnosis

Fatima Ali is in need of your prayers. The former Top Chef contestant, whose personality made her into a fan favorite on Season 15, has penned a powerful and emotional essay. In it, Ali reveals that she has cancer — and will almost certainly be dead in a year. “The cancer cells my doctors believed had vanished are back with a vengeance in my left hip and femur bone,” wrote the 29-year old on Tuesday wrote in a post published by Bon Appétit’s Healthyish. In heartbreaking detail, she proceeded to give fans her diagnosis: “My oncologist has told me that I have a year to live, with or without the new chemotherapy regimen. “I was looking forward to being 30, flirty and thriving. Guess I have to step it up on the flirting. I have no time to lose.” We have no idea how Ali, or anyone in her situation, can joke at a time like this. It’s the epitome of bravery. “It’s funny, isn’t it?” continued the beloved reality star. “When we think we have all the time in the world to live, we forget to indulge in the experiences of living. “When that choice is yanked away from us, that’s when we scramble to feel. “I am desperate to overload my senses in the coming months, making reservations at the world’s best restaurants, reaching out to past lovers and friends, and smothering my family, giving them the time that I so selfishly guarded before.” That’s what the song and the saying says, right? To live like you are dying? It really is tragic that only those actually dying typically have this kind of perspective. Ali finished in seventh place on Top Chef. In late 2017, she was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, which is a type of bone and soft tissue cancer. The aspiring chef underwent numerous rounds of chemotherapy prior to having the tumor in her left shoulder surgically removed. This is a photo of Ali and Padma Lakshmi in the hospital from January of 2018. She announced in February that she was cancer-free, yet started suffering complications after completing her final found of chemotherapy in August. “I’ve spent more time in sterile hospital rooms in the past year than I have in my own apartment,” Ali wrote in her essay. “This has become my new home, and the staff a part of my family… “Everyone’s amazed that I’m taking it so well. But when you hit rock bottom, there really is no place to go but up.” Ali doesn’t know how much time she has left for sure, but she plans to spend the final months of her life doing what she loves best: visiting new restaurants in New York City. “I was always deathly afraid of being average in any way,” she concluded. “And now I desperately wish to have a simple, uneventful life.” God bless her.

Keeping Up with the Kardashians took Kim and Kourtney to Japan on Sunday night. And the sisters brought with them many suitcases, changes of outfits… and lots of hard feelings. The installment centered on Kim planning a trip to Tokyo to shoot a Yeezy campaign on behalf of her husband’s fashion brand. “I love working with Kanye in that way because he will listen to me on things that are important to me, and I’ll trust him on colors and fabrics,” she said of the endeavor, adding: “I only have a few days to get 20 looks shot. “Japan is the campaign – we can’t recreate it. There are dozens of people working on this, so it is a lot of pressure. “It’s my husband’s collection and I want to make sure that I do a good job and that he likes how everything turns out.” This was the epitome of a First World Problem , but whatever, right? It was a fair concern for Kim at the time, given the circumstances. However, Kim decided to mix the personal with the professional by inviting Khloe and Kourtney along for the vacation. Why would she do so, considering the tension that has existed between all three siblings throughout Season 15? Probably because the script called for it, but maybe also to bury the hatchet. All it took was one evening out, though, for the tension to return — which is what happens when one sister simply can’t handle what her loved one is wearing. “I can’t even eat dinner because I’m so disgusted with my sisters’ crazy outfits that completely don’t go with my look,” Kim told the camera. “Like, I can’t take it.” No, really, she could. Not. Even. Take. It. “My sisters look so crazy,” Kim continued. “It’s actually embarrassing. Kourtney with the Japanese-inspired outfit, and Khloé is wearing silver sequins, turquoise eyeshadow, huge chandelier earrings – they’re just like, completely clashing and making my outfit look really bad and they’re ruining everything. “I need the Yeezy collection to be debuted and not all this crazy distraction in the background.” Seriously, Khloe and Kourtney: How did you not consider the effect your fashion taste would have on Kim’s career?!? Kim didn’t keep her feelings to herself, either. She sat down with her siblings, told them they looked like “f-cking clowns” and continued to berate them as follows: “I’m not kidding. This is not like, a tourist thing where it’s Halloween, dress up like a f-cking Japanese geisha, unless we’re at a geisha house. “I just think you’ve got to like, chill. Like, you can be cooler. I’m not telling you guys who to be and what to wear or anything, but I’m telling you who to be and what to wear. “It could be time for a fashion overhaul, so that you stay young and relevant.” At another point, she told Kourtney she looked “like a f-cking grandma, 100 percent.” After being informed that she doesn’t come across as “special” or “innovative,” Kourtney at last snapped and replied in a confessional: “Now I think Kim’s just being rude, and rude to everyone in glam. “We’re all doing fun looks together and it’s not that serious. I think Kim and I don’t always see eye-to-eye as far of the importance of traveling and living in the moment. … “I have three children and a full-time job. Kim defended her actions, saying she didn’t have time to “beat around the bush” while on location for a Yeezy campaign, while Kourtney countered that she just wanted to have some “fun.” “Nobody wants to wake up and be criticized from head-to-toe the whole day long,” she sighed, finally lashing out as Kim for real: “Would you rather me f-cking say your f-cking outfits suck? You’re wearing a puffy vest, you have pink hair and turquoise shoes. “I didn’t come here to wear leggings that are see-through and show my ass off. Do you know easy it is to a bitch? I could be a bitch all f-cking day if that’s what you want. “But guess what? It takes a lot more courage to show your feelings than to sit there and be a bitch.” Okay, fine, Kim relented toward the end of the episode. She said she takes pride in being “honest,” but that the “delivery” of her message may have been off. But, hey, it was all worthwhile in the end! “It was a lot of work but we did it, and with how amazing and pretty this city is, this campaign is going to be super dope,” she concluded. “Kanye is so happy with how the shoot turned out and I feel like it was a really good trip for us overall.”

Marcus Ingram/Getty Images Miss Quad Talks Her Divorce On “Hollywood Unlocked” Miss Quad is responding to the numerous lies her estranged husband’s been peddling in the media. As previously reported the “Married To Medicine”/”Sister Circle” star filed for divorce from Dr. G  after that shocking reunion when he confessed to taking a woman to a hotel room and almost getting “blackmailed” over it. Following that Dr. G made numerous accusations against Quad including claims that they were in a sexless marriage and she moved out of their bedroom in 2014. According to Quad, however, that’s simply untrue and she cleared the air on Hollywood Unlocked. Quad is convinced that despite Dr. G’s claims that he didn’t sleep with a woman who later said in an interview that he was lacking severely in the penis department, he actually had oral sex with that woman in a hotel room. “There was a young lady who came forward who he had oral sex with—I don’t believe he took the time out to get a hotel room and was not looking for anything in return,” said Quad. “I truly believe that that young lady was telling the truth.” She also clapped back at his claims that they hadn’t had sex since 2014… “Yes, [we are separated] and I filed for divorce too. He stated that we hadn’t had sex since the second year of our marriage. I’m in my 30s!” and added that her husband changed after the “Married To Medicine” cameras started rolling. According to Quad after that incident with Lisa Nicole where a glass was hurled her way , she told her husband she was unsure if she wanted to continue filming—but he insisted so that HE could get recognized by fans. “Who you see today that my husband has morphed into, this is not who he was,” said Quad. “It’s fame, it’s television. Moreso than anything else, I gave him my heart. […] “There was a young lady who I got into it with, there was an argument. She threw water at me, threw a glass at me, scratched my face. I told him I’ve never worked in any corporate capacity where it was okay to be treated this way. I said I think I’m gonna pull back from “Married To Medicine” and he said; ‘Well, why would you do that?! It’s gonna be different. People aren’t gonna know who I am anymore!’” She also wouldn’t confirm or deny that he was physically abusive and instead said there were “some very dark times” in their marriage and added that it’s why she didn’t want to bring a child into the picture. Quad has a point. Why would she bring a child into such a tumultuous situation?? Do YOU think she’s doing the right thing by getting a divorce?

Alaskan Bush People: Renewed for Season 9… with a Catch!

A year ago ago at this time, we were unsure if Alaskan Bush People would return for an eighth season. To be frank, we were unsure whether Ami Brown would even be alive right now. The veteran reality star had been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer and her prognosis was grim. But here we are now, and, we’re so very happy to say, here Ami is now: still alive, still kicking, still starring on Alaskan Bush People. The Discovery Channel hit recently wrapped filming on Season 8, which focused on the family moving from Alaska to Washington because Ami had to be closer to doctors who could assist with her pressing medical needs. It hasn’t been an easy adjustment, especially because the Browns can never go back home , but it beats the alternative, right? Again: Ami is alive. And now we’ve received word that the show is as well. Alaskan Bush People is coming back for Season 9. With Ami on the mend, the central storyline will move from her health battle to the struggles of Matt Brown, who announced last month that he is headed for rehab . This is bad news for the family, but actually positive news from the view of Discovery Channel executives. It has given them new content for future episodes. “Everyone is interested to see if he is able to overcome his addiction battle,” an insider tells Radar Online of the reaction to Matt’s admission. Upon confirming he is seeking professional assistance, this is what Brown said to People Magazine: “I struggle with substance abuse, and after a year of ups and downs, I decided to return to treatment. “I’m really grateful for everyone’s support and hope to have my life back on track soon.” Matt is the oldest of all Ami and Billy’s children. Back in 2016, he checked into treatment after being arrested for DUI in Juneau, Alaska. According to Radar Online, he remained on the straight and narrow, fully on the wagon… until last year, when he started drinking again to cope with his his mother’s tragic diagnosis. A terminal illness for a parent is an understandable trigger for anyone that has dependency issues. In an interview with People, Ami touched on Matt having to go to rehab prior to the Season 8 finale being shot and said: “It’s hard not having one of my babies here with us. Kim Zolciak: HUGE Don’t Be Tardy Pay Raise Revealed!

When we went through the list of what The Real Housewives of Atlanta get paid , we mentioned that Kim Zolciak is busy doing her own thing. Housewives salaries are notoriously hefty, but Kim is making more than most of them for Don’t Be Tardy . And she just got a major raise. Take a look: “Kim is now making $125,000 per episode,” an insider reveals to RadarOnline . That is … a lot of money to make at all, let alone for a single episode. (Though we will acknowledge that it can take days, and dozens of hours of filming, to produce even one episode of a reality show, just as with scripted television) There are reportedly 12 episodes, but don’t worry, we won’t make you do math. The source continues: “which comes out to $1.5 million for the season.” The report continues, saying that Kim isn’t the only one who’s making bank. “And Brielle got a raise too,” the insider announces. The source says that: “Now she’s making $16,000 an episode.” Again, neither we nor this inside source are going to make you ask your phone to do this math. All told, Brielle will be “pulling in $192,000 for this season.” Earlier this year, some feared that this season might never be completed. Kim and Brielle were accused of racism , and that did not go over well at all. They even stopped filming in protest. But that protest may have been a ploy to increase their salary … and it worked. “Kim and Brielle negotiated more money,” the insider explains. Filming resumed, the source adds, “and they got a raise.” Kim and Brielle aren’t the only ones who are getting paid more. “While Kroy was playing football, he didn’t want or need to be paid much by the show,” the insider prefaces. “After he was out of the NFL,” the source continues. “He renegotiated his deal to become an executive producer.” “And,” the insider shares. “He got the same deal for Kim.” Well, good for both of them! “That way,” the source explains. “They can get more money from Bravo and the production company.” That is good thinking. Fame can be glamorous. The idea of being a reality star can be extremely appealing to some people on its own merits. But, at the end of the day, like most jobs — like almost every job — being a reality star is about getting paid. Kim Zolciak is a big name reality star. She’s raking in money to match. Though she’s still not making as much as NeNe Leakes. In her personal life, Kim recently got a breast reduction to reduce her mega-boobs to a more normal-sized large boobs. Kim turned 40 last spring, and she was really feeling the weight — literally — of her breasts, and decided that they weren’t worth back problems. That is her choice because it is her body. The Voice Recap: Who Won Night 4 of the Blind Auditions?

After Monday’s Blind Auditions brought some of the worst auditions yet our way, five more people advanced to the next stage of the competition on Tuesday.  But were these five more worthy than the bunch that made the first episode of the week such a big drag? Let’s break down Tuesday’s performances! Reagan Strange (Team Adam) – “Meant to Be” This 13-year-old appeared on the stage and shocked everyone. With her mature attitude and dizzying vocals, she emerged as quite the contender.  As seems to be the norm on this NBC hit, first performance nerves can cause some problems, and that’s what happened here.  In the end, she joined Team Adam, and her future in the process will hinge on whether she can battle the nerves and whether Adam chooses the right songs for her.  Foushée (Team Adam) – “Redbone” Foushée appeared on stage and had all of the makings of a global sensation. Being the daughter of a drummer, she knew what she had to do to secure a place post-audition.  That’s why she made her way to Team Adam. It would have been fun to see what Kelly did with her, but Adam might be the next best thing.  Chris Kroeze (Team Blake) – “Pride and Joy” Chris shocked both the audience and the coaches. Adam thought he was a woman because nobody expected such a sweet voice from a man who looks like a country rocker.  That said, being put in Blake’s team might prove to be the biggest mistake, because Blake is going to throw every country song at him to see what sticks.  MaKenzie Thomas (Team Jennifer), “Big White Room” Makenzie returned after not getting anywhere during Season 14. Her aim here was to get the chairs turning because her nerves got the best of her the last time.  There was a great voice there, but a lot of work is required to make sure the teenager does not sound as pitchy as she did during the audition.  Thankfully, she’s on Team Jennifer, and we could not think of a better place for her! SandyRedd (Team Kelly), “River” This 35-year-old mother of two brought her A-game Tuesday night. With vocals that people can only dream of, the coaches rewarded her with a four-chair turn.  It was the biggest surprise of the night because the spots on each team are starting to look hella full, but SandyRedd was worth it.  In fact, she was so worth it that Jennifer Hudson threw both of her shoes at her. Is it a big compliment? We hope so.  In the end, she opted to go with Team Kelly.  What are your thoughts on the latest auditions? Josiah Duggar Reveals the WEIRD Way He Prepared For His Wedding Night!

These days, Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson are all over each other . But just a few months ago, they had never even kissed. In the restrictive world of the Duggars, the first kiss is very public — because it's at your wedding, in front of everyone you know. Josiah is revealing how he prepared for his very first kiss: he practiced on his hand. See the video: In the teaser for Monday night's Counting On finale, Josiah is just hours away from marrying Lauren Swanson . 23-year-old Joseph Duggar is a married man himself. He figured that he should pass on some advice to his brother about what he learned from tying the knot with Kendra Caldwell. “As far as the first kiss goes,” Joseph says. “I mean, I’m sure you can figure it out” “It’s not really that complicated,” he assures his slightly younger brother. “I asked her just to stay … kinda as still as she could … and then kind of go with it,” Josiah says awkwardly. “That’s what we did,” Joseph replies. “Either one side or the other,” Joseph adds. “But it looks better when the guy goes, I think.” “I don’t think you’re going to have a problem,” Joseph suspects. He credits his optimism to communication, because: “y’all probably already talked about it.” Witha  little prompting from a producer, Josiah reveals a little more to the Counting On cameras. “I was thinking, you know what? I wonder what it feels like,” Josiah shares. To be clear, he's talking about kissing — not the wedding night. “So I practiced on my hand,” Josiah reveals. “I think practicing on my hand was just to see what it felt like from her side.” “You can’t kiss a tree and expect to see what it’s going to feel like for her,” Josiah reasons. Well … he's not wrong. Lauren is not a tree. “So if you kiss on your hand, you can feel … like, ‘Okay, maybe I should make my lips more full,’ or whatever,” Josiah continues. That helped him, Josiah explains, to practice “and kind of think of it from that perspective.” “You’ve got to think about it!” Josiah explains. Obviously, practicing for something like the wedding night using his hand would be strictly forbidden in the Duggar household. We suppose that kissing his hand must be okay. We hope. Still speaking to the camera, Josiah gushes about this major life milestone. “It is interesting to think this is the first day in my life I get to kiss a girl,” Josiah says. He clarifies that he will be kissing Lauren “right smack dab on the lips.” “I mean, it’s special,” Josiah shares. “It really is a special moment for us.” “And I’ll try to make sure it’s not just a peck,” Josiah promises. “I’ll make sure it’s good.” Most of us have probably seen one viral video or another of a fundamentalist wedding where the bride and groom had never kissed. These videos go viral because, well, the first kiss ends up being painfully awkward to watch. While it's a shame that the Duggars aren't raised with real choices and personal freedoms, Josiah has seen a lot of weddings. At 22, his first kiss was probably a little more prepared than a normal person's at 12 or 15 or 19 or whatever. We'll find out on Monday night's Counting On season finale!
