Aubrey Plaza Virally Markets Super 8 Using Twitter, Capital Letters

It’s been a while since J.J. Abrams’ Super 8 marketing campaign has made any noise — and no, those “secret” casting notices don’t count; Little Darlings , my ass — but thanks to actress Aubrey Plaza, that changed on Friday night. The Parks and Recreation star — and all-around hilarious scene stealer — took to her Twitter page to post seven tweets over the course of an hour pleading with the Super 8 director to reveal what’s inside the smashed train car at the end of the film’s teaser . As Plaza put it: “I cant WAIT TILL NEXT SUMMER FOR THAT SH*T! WHATS IN DAT BOX JJ??” She even created a blogspot — titled, fittingly, “Whats in DAT BOX, JJ?!” — which, thus far, has two posts. J.J, the ball’s in your court. [ @evilhag ]

MTV Movie Awards Host Aziz Ansari Gets Advice From Russell Brand, Sarah Jessica Parker, Snooki

Judd Apatow, past Movie Awards host Andy Samberg also give tips — show airs Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on MTV! By Eric Ditzian Aziz Ansari Photo: Robyn Beck/ AFP/ Getty Images UNIVERSAL CITY, California — It might be the biggest night of his life. On Sunday, June 6, at exactly 9 p.m. ET, 27-year-old Aziz Ansari will walk out onto the stage at the Gibson Amphitheatre to host the 2010 MTV Movie Awards . The seats will be filled with Hollywood’s elite, celebs will be frittering to and fro backstage as they await their various show duties, and millions of fans will be watching at home. In short, the pressure will be on … But it’s a job Aziz is ready for. From his co-starring spot on NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” to his improv work on MTV’s “Human Giant” to his creation of bombastic comedian Raaaaaaaandy, one thing Ansari can be trusted to do is make people laugh, and then laugh some more. Still, the guy has got to be sweating a bit as the big day approaches. But luckily he’s got the support of Hollywood behind him, and the likes of Russell Brand, Sarah Jessica Parker and “Jersey Shore” star Snooki weighed in with advice for Ansari. “Hosting — it’s so hard!” said two-time VMA host Brand , not so much offering advice as a stern warning. “You’re there for ages. It’s all the panic, the dress rehearsals, people don’t turn up. It’s difficult.” Parker, conversely, had one helpful tip for Aziz’s body and mind. “I would say have plenty of fluids backstage, perhaps intravenously!” she said. “Jersey Shore” star Snooki — who will be MTV News’ guest correspondent on the Movie Awards red carpet Sunday — had one specific suggestion for the type of fluid Ansari would be wise to imbibe come Sunday night. “Just have a couple shots before you get on,” she said. “You’re probably going to be very nervous in front of all these celebrities, millions of people on TV. Pretty much, just down a bottle of tequila and you’re good. It washes off the nerves!” One man who’s quite familiar with those Movie Awards nerves is Andy Samberg, who hosted the show last year and was not worried about Ansari. “I don’t need to give Aziz any advice,” Samberg said. “He’s great. I think he’s gonna kill it. He’s a friend of mine and one of the funniest dudes I know. I’m really excited just to see it.” Another of the funniest dudes in Hollywood, Judd Apatow, couldn’t let Aziz assume hosting duties without giving him a good-natured ribbing. “He’s a cocky young man,” Apatow said of Ansari. “He’s not afraid. He should be afraid!” Don’t miss the live red-carpet coverage, exclusive movie clips and fist-pumping action on MTV News’ “Jersey Shore Blow-Out at the MTV Movie Awards,” airing live from Los Angeles this Sunday, June 6, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Then stay tuned for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Related Photos 2010 Movie Awards: Promo Shoot With Aziz Ansari Related Artists Aziz Ansari

Aziz Ansari Handicaps The MTV Movie Awards

‘I vote Christoph [Waltz] all the way,’ host says of ‘Inglourious Basterds’ star’s Best Villain nod. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Aziz Ansari Photo: Jesse Grant/ Getty Images With the 2010 MTV Movie Awards getting closer and closer to showtime (roughly four days and a few hours left to go!), we thought it would be a good idea to check in with the night’s esteemed host, Aziz Ansari , to see how he’s handling the pressure, what he’s preparing and, most importantly, who he thinks deserves to win. On getting the call to come host the show, the “Parks and Recreation” star admitted he was “excited,” yet “stunned all the people in ‘Twilight’ weren’t available.” Speaking of the famed vampire-centric franchise, Ansari said that he’s been watching the films as part of his preparation. “I watched ‘Twilight’ a bunch, ‘Avatar’ 400 times,” he said. “I’ve been stalking Daniel Radcliffe, whatever I can do to get those movies in my head.” He’s also been doing a lot of writing for the show, adding, “I want to make sure all of my short films meet the high bar met by previous hosts.” Regarding the potential winners, Ansari had some pointed opinions, particularly with the Best Villain and Best Comedic Performance categories. “I gotta throw my bit behind Christoph Waltz [“Inglourious Basterds”],” he said of the Best Villain race. “That was an incredible performance. I vote Christoph all the way.” Ansari also mentioned a character that was overlooked in that category. “In ‘The Blind Side,’ did society get nominated as Best Villain?” he joked. “That’s my vote: society. Or poverty.” So who would get up and accept that award? “I think we all would have to get up and get that award,” Ansari responded. The funnyman’s pick for Best Comedic Performance was slightly more challenging, especially since we pointed out that he wasn’t nominated in that category himself. “I know, I guess they looked over me,” he said, unfazed. “I’d have to go with Robert Pattinson in ‘Remember Me’ for that category. … No, I was a big fan of Zach Galifianakis’ performance in ‘The Hangover.’ He’s been around for so long. He’s never had the opportunity to be funny in a movie like that, and they gave it to him, and he knocked it out of the park.” Ansari ended our chat with suggestions for new categories, including Why the F— Did They Make This Movie and Best Piece of S— Performance. Martin Starr on His Failed Barista Career, Orgies and the Future of Party Down

Like the characters of Party Down — actors, comedians and writers catering their way toward impossible dreams — Rob Thomas’ premium cable comedy, now in its sophomore season, can never quite catch a break. Although the show is beloved by its fans, the Starz sleeper has been leaking cast members ever since Jane Lynch departed the premium cabler for Glee . Since then, Adam Scott signed onto Parks and Recreation , Lizzy Caplan filmed a pilot for CBS , and Ryan Hansen shot a pilot for NBC, which was officially picked up this week. And even though Party Down ‘s ratings more than doubled this season, the show is still watched by less than 300,000 people. In hopes that tonight’s episode, “Steve Guttenberg’s Birthday,” could be the installment that reverses Party Down ‘s fortune, Martin Starr phoned Movieline to discuss just how the Cocoon actor was cast, Party Down ‘s tragic undertone and how little Starr actually relates to his character.
