Ludacris On His Drake & Big Sean Diss Track: “I Don’t Start These Things, I Finish Them” [AUDIO]

Note to new rappers. Be careful when taking shots at a legend. ATL’s own Ludacris has fired back at Drake and Big Sean on a song called “Bada Boom” from his 1.21 Gigawatts mixtape. This whole episode started when Drizzy and Sean accused Luda of biting the “Supa Dupa” rhyme flow (or hashtag rap) from them. Although Luda doesn’t say any names, he does spit some lines that definitely seemed aimed at Sean and Drake: “Counterfeit rappers say I’m stealing their flows / But I can’t steal what you never made up b—h / Y’all some duplicate rap cloning n—as / I manufacture you h—s put on your makeup b—h,” Luda raps. Luda’s diss song stems from an interview Drake did on AllHipHop in which he said that Luda doesn’t know how to use the hashtag flow properly. “I don’t want to offend somebody, I hate that rappers picked that flow up,” Drake said in the 2010 interview. “I wish they had left that for people that know how to use it. [They go like] ‘It’s a parade! MACY’S!’,” Drake continued, referencing one of Luda’s lines from ‘My Chick Bad.’ In an MTV interview, Big Sean claims to have invented the hashtag flow: “With the super duper flow, I created that one-word rhyme style,” he said. In response, Luda raps on “Bada Boom”: “Do your research before you make a claim so bogus / That’s disrespecting pioneers in the game / F—k the fame but go ahead and get ya 5 minutes / Then you frontline cadets can report to your lieutenants (Sir, yes sir).” Ludacris also mentions on the track that “My Chick Bad” went platinum. When asked about the retaliatory track on Shade 45′s Sway In The Morning on Wednesday (Nov. 16), Ludacris simply replied, “I don’t start these things, I finish them.” We can’t wait to see if Drake or Big Sean responds! Get Well: Rick Ross Finally Decides To Take It Easy, Cancels All Shows This Weekend

We’re glad Rozay is taking his recent health scare more seriously than he seemed to initially. According to TMZ , Rozay has cancelled the second show he had scheduled for this weekend. With his health still a major concern, Rick Ross has decided to play it easy this weekend … rescheduling his L.A. concert for 2012 so he can focus on his recovery. As TMZ first reported, Rick suffered two seizures last week before a performance in Memphis — which he canceled — and promoters think it’s still too soon for Ross to get back on stage. Promoters believe Ross needs more time to get better — so they contacted his people and the two camps agreed to reschedule the L.A. performance to January. Promoters also tell TMZ, “Pushing [Ross] to do a show that he was not prepared to do was not beneficial to anyone.” Yesterday, our sister site HipHopWired.com reported that Rozay’s Atlanta performance, which was scheduled for this Friday as part of Georgia State University homecoming festivities had also been cancelled. While Ross has yet to speak about his health and there are still no details about exactly what caused him to have two seizures in one day , at least three of his friends have revealed in recent interviews that they are encouraging him to chill and focus on his health, and that he is absolutely taking it light.

Hide Ya Kids! Study Shows 1 In 10 Texas 11-Year-Olds Have Given Up Their Goodies

Hide Ya Kids! Especially if you live in Texas… According to a study out of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston: 1. Almost one in 10 Texas 6th graders have had sex. 2. The percentage of Texas7th and 8th graders who have had sex is 22 and 29 percent respectively. 3. Of high school-aged kids, 32 percent of 9th graders, 41 percent of 10th graders, 53 percent of 11th graders and 62 percent of 12th graders have had sex. 4. Just over one third of the entire public middle and high school population are sexually experienced. 5. Texas students are more likely to report having had sex with four or more partners and are less likely to have used birth control or condoms. 6. Texas students are also significantly less likely to receive education about HIV or AIDS in school. 7. Males are significantly more likely than their counterparts to report having sex for the first time before age 13, having more than four partners and using drugs or alcohol before having sex. The results come from an analysis of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Youth Risk Behavior Survey, the CDC’s Middle School Youth Risk Behavior Survey and the University of Texas Prevention Research Center’s All About Youth study. Guess that explains why Rick Perry wanted all the kids to get the HPV vaccine before 6th grade… But seriously, where are these kids’ parents? Source

The Recession Is TOO Real: Study Shows Number Of Child Abuse Leading To Head Injury Has Gone Up Because Of It

This is so sad… Rates of abusive head trauma in children under age 5 rose during the last recession, suggesting that economic woes may have led parents to lash out against their kids, researchers reported Monday in the journal Pediatrics. The data also suggest that physicians today may want to be extra vigilant for signs of child abuse as economic conditions remain in the doldrums, the team wrote. The notion that economic hardship leads to increases in child abuse is not new — scientific research and anecdotal reports have long shown a relationship. For example, the Los Angeles Times reported during the recession in 1994 about increases in child abuse and neglect in Los Angeles County. In recent years, the co-authors noted in the Pediatrics study, articles in the popular press including this one and this one have again stoked concerns that abuse was on the rise as the economy worsened. Hoping to better understand the relationship, Dr. Rachel Berger of the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and her co-authors reviewed medical records of children under 5 years old with abusive head trauma in three regions — six counties in the Seattle area, 23 counties in western Pennsylvania, and 45 counties in Ohio and northern Kentucky — between Jan. 1, 2004, and June 30, 2009. Roughly the first four years of that period preceded the recession; the last 19 months coincided with it. A total of 422 children in the studied regions, 58% of them boys, were treated for abusive head trauma during the research period. Their average age was 8.9 months; more than three-fourths were less than a year old. Sixty-three percent went to a pediatric ICU. Sixteen percent died. All three areas had significant increases in abusive head trauma during the recession. Put together, the annual rate of the injuries went up from 8.9 per 100,000 before the recession to 14.7 per 100,000 during the recession, the team reported. The researchers did not find any correlation between unemployment rates in the counties and abusive head trauma. They speculated that this might be because official unemployment figures exclude people who are underemployed, people who are discouraged in their job searches and others who might be under economic pressure. But them shady a** Republicans have the audacity to talk about “class warfare” ?? Source

Bye Bye Relaxed Hair, Hello Natural Hair!

When I first thought of ‘going natural’ in January 2011, I quickly decided against it; I opted to continue my regular relaxer regimen.  After all, it worked for ten years.  But during my past three years in college, I have found it difficult, frustrating and nearly impossible to grow and maintain a healthy head of relaxed hair. So when June rolled around and my hair was still suffering from the relaxing process and heat damage, I knew it was about time to give my natural hair a chance.  I did my research by reading natural hair blogs and watching lots of natural hair videos on YouTube.  The women on these websites were quite knowledgeable and encouraging; I felt I was finally ready to embark on my natural hair journey. Although initially, I thought I couldn’t bare to cut all of my relaxed hair off, managing my two hair textures (new growth and relaxed ends) proved too aggravating! So on August 1, 2011, after three months of transitioning, I asked my mom to chop off all of my chemically altered hair. …To Be Continued… For more of my hair story, check out this video .  And to follow my hair journey, check HelloBeautiful for updates and subscribe to bronzeBELEZA on YouTube. ‘Captain America’ Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need to Know

We’ve been following ‘The First Avenger’ since it was first announced. By Ryan J. Downey Chris Evans in “Captain America: The First Avenger” Photo: Paramount Pictures Captain America will finally throw his mighty shield on the big screen this weekend. And while Cap’s journey from the comics to the megaplex wasn’t quite as arduous as the hero’s transition from World War II to present day (which involved being frozen in a block of ice), there were plenty of twists and turns before Chris Evans put on the costume that will allow him to lead the Avengers. A “Captain America” movie actually appeared back in 1990, but to call it a “B-movie” would be generous. Albert Pyun, the director responsible for action romps like Jean Claude Van Damme’s “Cyborg,” cast actor Matt Salinger in the title role and took several liberties with established continuity. Cap was still named Steve Rogers, still given his abilities by a “super soldier serum” during World War II and still frozen in a block of ice, however, his arch-nemesis switched from German to Italian. This summer’s “Captain America: The First Avenger” returns the Red Skull to his nefarious Nazi origins. Hugo Weaving plays the megalomaniacal fellow experimental “super soldier” who leads Hitler’s deep science division, HYDRA, which eventually breaks away from the Nazis due to the Skull’s world-domination plans. Steve Rogers is a Brooklyn kid whose scrawny size and poor health cause him to be rejected continually as he tries to enlist for the war effort. A professor’s serum gives him a muscular body and super-strength. Thanks to technology, Evans portrays both versions of the character. Jon Favreau considered directing “Captain America” before ultimately choosing “Iron Man” instead. That film’s success established Marvel as a Hollywood studio in its own right (with distribution help, of course), following previous Marvel character flicks like “X-Men,” “Spider-Man” and “Daredevil,” which were handled by other studios. Marvel decided to mix heroes onscreen as they always have in print (at least the ones they still own the rights to) with next summer’s “Avengers” movie building on “Easter eggs” and story connections established across multiple films, like “Cap.” “The Incredible Hulk” director Louis Leterrier was considered for a time before the job ultimately went to Joe Johnston , who had proven his hero prowess and period-movie gloss with “The Rocketeer.” Garrett Hedlund (“Tron: Legacy”), John Krasinski (“The Office'”) and Mike Vogel (“Cloverfield”) were among the actors reportedly considered for the title role. Sebastian Stan (“Gossip Girl”) was considered as well before ultimately being cast as Captain America’s sidekick, “Bucky” Barnes. Chris Evans actually turned the role down . He had played a Marvel hero before, appearing as the Human Torch in two “Fantastic Four” films. Evans and Weaving were the first cast announcements. “I got a call, and they said they want me to audition, and I said, ‘Great!’ And then I thought about it and I said, ‘No thanks,’ ” Evans told MTV News. “And then they called back and they said, ‘Well, they want you to test,’ and testing is basically they’ll draw up a contract, and if you’re testing then you’re only testing with a couple other guys and the odds of walking away with it drastically increase. And again I just said, ‘I think I’m good. This isn’t really what I’m looking for.’ “It just seemed like the more I walked away, the more they pursued,” he explained. At Comic-Con last year, where he appeared onstage with the rest of the Avengers, Evans told us about all the research he did to bone up on Captain America lore after he accepted the role. “Personally, when I was going through the comic books, the ones that were most intriguing were the origin stories. I just wanted to get as many different takes on how this guy started out.” Fans were thrilled to learn more information about the Captain America movie as it trickled out online: The Howling Commandos would appear; the Cosmic Cube figured into the story; Tony “Iron Man” Stark’s father, Howard Stark, would be a central supporting character, and so forth. But as it turned out, Evans was still questioning his decision to play the role even at Comic-Con. “I remember the first time I went to a fitting and I put on the suit, and I just was so terrified, so focused on the negatives, still,” he told us a few months later. “I bet when I was at that Comic-Con, I was probably still terrified, probably still apprehensive about whether or not this was right. “I can’t believe I almost didn’t do it!” he told us emphatically. “For better or worse, no matter what happens with the film, whether it’s a good film or not, it was the right thing to do and I’m glad I did it.” Audiences will have a chance to make up their own minds about “Captain America: The First Avenger” this weekend. Critics have been positive thus far. At press time, the film stood at 73 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, which collects reviews from major critics. “It’s paced and designed for people who won’t shrivel up and die if two or three characters take 45 seconds between combat sequences to have a conversation about world domination, or a dame,” wrote The Chicago Tribune. Rolling Stone praised the film’s star in particular. “Evans, who played the Human Torch in two less-than-fantastic Fantastic Four films, brings such humor, heart and vigor to virtuous Steve that our rooting interest holds even when the action gets to be standard-issue,” Peter Travers wrote.
