Defiant Joan Rivers Bashes Late-Night Hosts, Insists She is ‘Blackballed’

Joan Rivers hasn’t made much of a secret about her hatred for NBC, from which she says she was banned 25 years ago after striking her doomed late-night hosting deal with Fox. Save for her triumphant return to the network on Celebrity Apprentice , she has been virtually off its air since the Carson era. Furthermore, she told an audience Monday at the Tribeca Film Festival, she’s a late-night pariah across the board. As you can imagine, she wasn’t happy about it.

Joan Rivers at Tribeca: ‘I Was Never the Pretty One’

Maybe it was the rain. On a night when the Tribeca Film Festival’s packed hometown premiere of the documentary Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work glowed with the promise of its post-screening conversation between Rivers and her catty confidante Rex Reed, the atmosphere was overtaken by a more subdued, contemplative mood between the pair. At least until the point when Rivers called out that 88-year-old “bitch” Betty White.

B.o.B Says Debut Album Has Some ‘Surprising Factors’

‘You can’t just understand me with one song,’ he says of B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray. By Steven Roberts Photo: MTV News B.o.B has forged quite a path for himself during his brief time in the music industry. The promising young MC is set to release his debut album, B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, on Tuesday (April 27) after a year that included announcements of alleged retirements , label squabbling and two name changes (Bobby Ray and then back again to B.o.B). Now B.o.B finds himself with the #2 record in the country and his collaboration with Paramore’s Hayley Williams following close behind. B.o.B said that he and his fans are finally ready for his full-length effort. “Getting to this point and finally getting an album out — I know I speak on behalf of all my fans — it’s been a very long wait and I feel like everybody’s finally ready for it,” he explained. “Even though I’ve had a lot of music in the past, I feel like now it’s timing, because timing plays a huge role in the success of things — especially me, and getting here really took a lot of online presence, a lot of performing. It took a lot of shows. “It took a lot of building relationships,” he continued. “Even with the fans, you have to build the relationship with the fans. Someone may just like one song, but that’s just one song. You really have got to build and grow. My music has a wide variety to it, so you can’t just understand me with one song.” B.o.B joked that it would probably take the average listener 10 songs to get to know him — his album is eclectic and not short on guest appearances, featuring T.I., Lupe Fiasco, Rivers Cuomo of Weezer and Eminem . “I think now people know what they should expect, and even still, playing the album for people they’re still like, ‘Wow, I didn’t know it was going to be that,’ ” he said of fans’ reactions. “I think the fans know to expect decent music. I don’t think anybody’s expectations will be low for it, but I feel like it will definitely have some surprising factors to it.” What do you think of B.o.B’s debut? Let us know in the comments below! The Verge: Alex O’Loughlin

How famous is Alex O’L oughlin? Ask him and he’ll assure you that he isn’t, but ask the marketers who put his name above the title on ads for the Jennifer Lopez romcom The Back-Up Plan and they may whistle a different tune. The truth is that O’L oughlin is the sort of actor who’s been on the verge of stardom for a while now, a charismatic, handsome Australian with the sort of dedicated female fanbase that comes when you play a sexy vampire in your first American project, the television series Moonlight . That series was canceled, as was O’L oughlin’s last show Three Rivers , but CBS has high hopes that an O’L aughlin-led Hawaii Five-O revival will be a fixture of its fall schedule. On the eve of The Back-Up Plan’s release this Friday, O’L oughlin called up Movieline to discuss the way Jennifer Lopez informs his notion of celebrity, the amount of faith CBS executives have had in him, and how he still smarts (just a little!) from losing the role of James Bond.

Hayley Williams Calls Cameo With Eminem On B.o.B’s Album ‘Incredible’

‘I’m so proud to be a part of this!’ Paramore frontwoman tells MTV News By James Montgomery Paramore’s Hayley Williams Photo: John Shearer/ Getty Images He may already be Justin Bieber’s favorite rapper , but on his debut album, The Adventures of Bobby Ray, Atlanta’s own B.o.B is looking to expand that fanbase even further — to the Warped Tour set. In addition to cameos by the likes of T.I. and Lupe Fiasco, Adventures also features Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo on a track (which isn’t that much of a stretch, considering Rivers is practically a member of Young Money at this point) and, oddly enough, Paramore’s Hayley Williams, who lends her vocals to a pair of songs on the album, one of which also features Eminem. Needless to say, the idea of Hayley and Em sharing vocal duties raised our eyebrows just a bit, which is why we sent an e-mail to the Paramore frontwoman to ask her all about the song and just how she ended up appearing on B.o.B’s record in the first place. “I was given the track a while ago while we were on tour. The guys and I all loved it. They told me I was crazy if I passed it up,” Williams told MTV News. “I liked the part too much anyways, so of course I was down. “I only found out about Eminem getting on the track like a month ago. As if the song couldn’t get any better. He just slays me, he’s such a genius. And I’m a big B.o.B fan. Got everything of his that I’ve been able to get my hands on,” she continued. “Whether our fans know or not, I’m not sure, but [Paramore bassist ] Jeremy [Davis] and I have always been really into hip-hop. It means a lot that I got to collaborate with a hip-hop artist who is from Atlanta. Not far from home. We Southern gals love us some Southern gentlemen.” Williams appears solo on a song called “Airplanes,” and then she’s joined by Eminem on an album-closing reprise, which, appropriately enough, is called “Airplanes (Part II).” But what do the tracks sound like? Well, Williams wouldn’t tell us much, which means Paramore fans are just gonna have to wait until B.o.B’s album drops April 27. “Both versions of the track are incredible, that’s all I’ll say,” she wrote. “I’m so proud to be a part of this!” Are you excited to hear Hayley’s collabos with B.o.B?
