Over the weekend, Carey Tweeted a photo of herself and son Moroccan in bed, adding the caption: “Me&Roc Starr taking a lil nap.” Not wanting to leave little Monroe out, she then added one of her son’s twin, responding to followers with: “As per your request, me & ms. Monroe on a lazy day: ).” Looks like the perfect summer afternoon for a new mother, doesn’t it?
Alleged gang thug Michael Mendez is being held by police in Paterson, N.J., after a drug search in his apartment uncovered a shocking discovery: A 44-year old woman. She was kept padlocked in a room by her boyfriend for long periods of time – perhaps as long as a decade – according to law enforcement officials. The woman was discovered by members of the state police investigating Michael Mendez, believed to be a member of the Latin Kings street gang. State police spokesman Sgt. 1st Class Brian Polite said based on interviews and evidence, investigators believe she was held there for 2-10 years. Investigators said the woman was sometimes let out when her boyfriend was home and Mendez, 42, was a familiar face around the neighborhood. A neighbor said he has known Mendez for a dozen years now and that he could often be seen outside, polishing a car and listening to music. The neighbor, who would not give his name due to safety concerns, said he saw the woman a few times in recent years, though it was rare. Neighbors on either side of Mendez’s top-floor, brick-building apartment said they weren’t aware that another person lived in the apartment. Mendez, who police say is a member of the Latin Kings, was being held Monday at Passaic County Jail. Authorities didn’t know if he had an attorney. No one answered when a reporter knocked on his apartment door Monday. Mendez was charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment and other counts related to the drugs officials said they were looking for in the first place. State police said they found 4,200 prescription pills valued at $100,000, 190 grams of marijuana valued at nearly $2,000 and nearly $23,000 in cash.
After laying low for awhile, following the heartbreak brought on by Kristen Stewart’s affair , Robert Pattinson pulled double public duty last night. First, he appeared as a guest on The Daily Show , eating ice cream with Jon Stewart and refraining from any bashing of his lying ex-girlfriend. Pattinson then went straight from there to he Museum Of Modern Art in New York City, where he walked the red carpet of the Cosmopolis , which opens in select cities this Friday. Scheduled to release a new album before the end of this year, Christina Aguilera is getting fans excited for what’s to come via a new, stunning promotional photo. It’s a beautiful black-and-white shot and it was snapped by photographer Jake Bailey: Clearly excited over the next step in her career, The Voice judge Tweeted this week: “Just wrapped up another great studio session- WOW- seriously can’t WAIT for you guys to hear what I’ve been working on!!- Love u guys!!” Not much is known about the album, but Aguilera recently told Rolling Stone that she’s been inspired by the contestants she met on her NBC reality competition, along with many other experiences she faced this year. This time, the focus is on their family as Debbie turns the big 4-0. But we weren’t sure how Bill Condon, the man behind the camera for Breaking Dawn Part 2 , felt about the scandal that has enveloped his upcoming blockbuster… until now. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about its upcoming Fall Movie Preview – which features an unfortunately ironic photo on the cover – Condon says Stewart and Robert Pattinson were nothing but professional, respectful and hard-working on set. They are also just regular people, despite the pedestal on which many fans have placed them. “The fact is, these are actors playing parts, and maybe it’s not such a bad thing that people be reminded of that,” Condon tells EW . “Both of these actors gave heart and soul to the Twilight movies, not only during shooting, but also by navigating so graciously the whole life-in-a-fishbowl aspect of the phenomenon. “Above all they have always shown great respect for the fans who made these movies such a success. Now it’s time that some of that respect be returned to them.” That’s certainly a fair request. Robert Pattinson has booked his first interview since Kristen Stewart confirmed to the world that she cheated on him earlier this year with director Rupert Sanders . He’ll sit down with the CBS program next Wednesday in promotion of the film Cosmopolis . It seems highly unlikely that the actor will be asked any questions about his personal life, but the interview will be conducted live and it may be too difficult to the show to resist throwing some Stewart-related question Rob’s way. We’ll certainly be tuning in to find out. Sources say Pattinson was out at a bar in California Friday night, looking sober and mostly in good spirits. However, an insider tells Us Weekly that “Rob’s a total mess, trying to figure out why Kristen did this.” Will we get any insight at all into his mental state next Wednesday? Or will be in full-on movie promotion mode? Viewers around the country are already counting down the seconds until we can see for ourselves.

Amidst reports that Stewart is an unkempt mess , sources say that Pattinson actually made a public appearance over the weekend, stopping by The Deer Lodge in Ojai, California on Friday night with a few friends. An employee of the cowboy-themed establishment confirms that he heard the same, telling Radar Online that he was not working that evening, but “several people” informed him ” Pattinson was here enjoying the music” and seemed to be in “good spirits.” The bar is located about 90 minutes from the home Rob and Kristen shared in Los Angeles and would make sense as a locale for Rob to frequent at the moment, considering he’s rumored to be residing in Reese Witherspoon’s vacation home . It’s situated in Ojai. An unnamed patron also confirmed the handsome sighting, Tweeting afterward: “Awesome night in Ojai. Got to hang with a rowdy bunch of Brits & one of them happened to be Edward… He wasn’t moping and the girls were definitely just his friend… I stood next to them at the bar. He wasn’t drunk. Just taking in the scene. Smoked next to him outside.” The countdown, meanwhile, is on for Pattinson first official public appearance: it will take place August 13 in NYC at the premiere of Cosmopolis .
