Shirley Temple Remembered: On the Good Ship Lollipop…

Movie legend  Shirley Temple died last night at the age 85. The former child actress retired more than six decades prior to her passing, but she’s still remembered for her red hair, her dimples, her signature drink – and for one song in particular. Temple first sang “On the Good Ship Lollipop” in 1934’s Bright Eyes, belting out the track in a scene she reportedly choreographed herself.  The number has been referenced and duplicated many times since (from The Brady Bunch to The Simpsons) and we can think of no better way to salute the late star than to run her original here: Shirley Temple – “On The Good Ship Lollipop” Temple, of course, is merely the latest known name to pass away in 2014. Jesus Take The Scalpel: North Carolina Woman Sues Doctors For Accidentally Attaching Her Intestines To Her Vajayjay!

That’s one dirty kitty… Woman Sues Doctor For Attaching Intestines To Private Parts Via CourthouseNews Doctors must face a trial after attaching a woman’s intestine to her vagina, an appeals court ruled, finding no need for an expert to testify about defecation. “It requires no expert testimony to understand that feces are not meant to be excreted from the vagina and that such an injury does not ordinarily occur in the absence of a negligent act or omission during a surgical procedure,” the ruling states. Linda Robinson had undergone surgery at Duke University Medical Center after she presented with severe constipation and colonic inertia. The doctors were supposed to remove part of her small intentine and reattach it to her rectum with a surgical stapler. One day later, Robinson complained that bloody fluid was coming out of her vagina. It was then discovered that her small intestine had been attached to her vagina, rather than her rectum. A second surgery corrected the issue, but Robinson was left with blurry vision, speech difficulty, erratic hand movement and weakness on her left side. She was diagnosed with conversion disorder, a psychiatric problem related to conflict or stress. After Robinson and her husband sued Duke University Health Systems for medical malpractice, a judge in Durham found that the case must be dismissed because of the lack of a prefiling review by a medical expert. The Robinsons appealed, arguing that the res ipsa loquitur doctrine makes such an expert finding unnecessary in this case. A three-judge panel of the North Carolina Court of Appeals agreed and remanded the case for trial. “Defendant’s argument that res ipsa is inapplicable in the present case because it does not involve either a foreign object left in the body following surgery or an injury to and area far away from and completely unrelated to the zone of surgery is without merit,” Judge Doug McCullough wrote for the court. The ruling also bars the Robinsons from seeking punitive damages because the defendants’ actions were not “willful, wanton, malicious or fraudulent,” according to the ruling. So basically this lady gets her oochie-coochie reconnected, but no dough. We think this woman deserves at least a lil’ 6-figure somethin’ somethin’ but we guess peeing out of the right hole is nice too… Image via Shutterstock

Twitter Files: Dawn Robinson Calls The R&B Divas L.A. Reunion “Buffonery” And Claps Back At Her Haters

Dawn Robinson Addresses Criticism For Skipping R&B Divas L.A. Reunion Earlier this week, fans tuned in to watch the ladies of R&B Divas L.A. season one verbally go toe-to-toe with messy talk show queen Wendy Williams during part one of their reunion show. Noticeably absent from the reunion show was cast member and former En Vogue group member Dawn Robinson, who caught much slander for her questionable actions on the show in addition to super shade from fans for skipping the reunion show altogether. Of course, Dawn didn’t quietly when Wendy, some of her castmates and much of Twitter tried to let her have it. She responded with a brief explanation of why she didn’t attend the reunion show… ……and even continued to clap back as the slanderfest ensued: Dawn rounded out her rant by taking a few jabs at Wendy Williams, calling some of the other cast members “desperate” and insisting that she’s not phased by her “haters.” Hit the flip to peep what else she had to say.

Everything Is Racist Now!: Coke Super Bowl Ad Said To Be Racist By Arab-Americans! [Video]

Is this commercial racist, or is everything racist nowadays? NBC Reports: Arab-American groups have sharply criticized a Coca-Cola Super Bowl ad depicting an Arab walking through the desert with a camel, and one group said it would ask the beverage giant to change it before CBS airs the game on Sunday before an expected audience of more than 100 million U.S. viewers. “Why is it that Arabs are always shown as either oil-rich sheiks, terrorists, or belly dancers?” said Warren David, president of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, or ADC. Coca-Cola released an online teaser of the commercial last week, showing the Arab walking through a desert. He soon sees cowboys, Las Vegas showgirls and a motley crew fashioned after the marauders of the apocalyptic “Mad Max” film race by him to reach a gigantic bottle of Coke. In its ad, Coke asks viewers to vote online on which characters should win the race. The online site does not allow a vote for the Arab character. “The Coke commercial for the Super Ball is racist, portraying Arabs as backward and foolish Camel Jockeys, and they have no chance to win in the world,” Imam Ali Siddiqui, president of the Muslim Institute for Interfaith Studies, said in an email. “What message is Coke sending with this?” asked Abed Ayoub, ADC’s director of legal and policy affairs. “By not including the Arab in the race, it is clear that the Arab is held to a different standard when compared to the other characters in the commercial,” he said. CBS declined comment. Coca-Cola spokeswoman Lauren Thompson said Coke took a “cinematic” approach with the ad, employing the characters as a nod to movies of the past. “Coca-Cola is an inclusive brand enjoyed by all demographics,” she said in an email. “We illustrate our core values, from fun and refreshment to happiness, inspiration and optimism across all of our marketing communications.” Ayoub said ADC intended to contact Coke and CBS Corp on Thursday to “hopefully start a dialog.” “I want to know why this happened and how can we fix this if possible before Sunday,” he said. The ADC garnered attention back in 1992 when it complained that lyrics in the Walt Disney animated film “Aladdin” were racist. Ronald Goodstein, professor at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, said he was surprised by the image as well. “If Coke’s vision is to be an arm’s distance away from every customer, why would they want to offend the Arab world?” said Goodstein. Ayoub said the commercial could harm Coke’s business with the Arab community. “Coke should understand and respect their consumers and have a better understanding of the market they are sharing,” he Ayoub. The company has a large market share in the Middle East and North Africa, he noted, and many convenience stores and other retail outlets in the United States that offer Coke are owned by Arab-Americans.
