Justin Bieber was in full heartthrob mode when he met up with photographer Mark Seliger in Malibu to shoot his new Rolling Stone cover, on newsstands Friday, July 20th. In this behind-the-scenes footage from the shoot, the 18-year-old enjoys the California sun and goofs around with Seliger. It’s Bieber’s second time on the cover of Rolling Stone – he first graced the cover in 2011. The year since has been a busy one for Bieber, whose new LP Believe scored the best debut week of any album released in 2012 so far, selling 374000 copies. Justin Bieber has made it clear once again: he’s not a little kid anymore. The singer, who opened up about his beliefs on sex with Rolling Stone this month, covers the latest issue of Rolla Coaster and reiterates that his new CD was recorded with an older demographic in mind. “I’m getting older and I want that to reflect in my album,” he tells the publication. “It is just more mature and reflecting the age that I am.” Despite his massive success, Bieber also says he’s constantly striving higher. “Each time I break a record I’m always happy. With my YouTube stuff, ” Baby ” has more views than any video – ever. So my next goal is to reach one billion views on a video.” One billion?!? We’d scoff. But if anyone can accomplish that feat, it’s the artist yanking at his shirt collar above.

The 19-year old covers the latest issue of Rolling Stone (in a wife-beater) and tells the magazine that he feels a lot more mature now than he has in the past. “I feel like I carry myself in a more manly way. I don’t carry myself as a boy,” the singer says. How so? Justin cites the attention he pays to girlfriend Selena Gomez . “I make sure to do the little things. Like noticing when they get their hair done, or when they change their nail color. Also saying things all the time – like, ‘You’re very pretty,’ ‘You’re gorgeous,’ things like that.” Are you taking notes, fellas? Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, dispels the notion that his client having a public romance will affect his standing with fans, saying in respond to that possibility: “I think that’s all a bunch of bullsh-t. Yes, there’s gonna be some girls that if they see him with a girlfriend, it kills the dream – but there’s also gonna be girls that see him with a girlfriend, hear about the romantic things he does and want him even more.” Sounds pretty accurate to us, right, female Beliebers?

Aretha Franklin has thrown her (often eccentric) hat into the American Idol judging ring. With Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez both officially off the Fox competition , the iconic singer is the latest artist to make her interest in the panel known. CNN reports Franklin sent it an email expressing as much. Rumors of who will take over on Season 12 will likely continue to circulate all summer long. So far, big names such as Adam Lambert, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey have all been discussed. Franklin, of course, would bring serious cred to the program. She’s an 18-time Grammy Award winner and was named by Rolling Stone as the greatest female singer of all-time. Do you want to see the Queen of Soul as an American Idol judge?
