Lil Wayne Shoots I Am Still Music Tour Documentary

‘It’s going to be real major,’ Wayne says of behind-the-scenes look at his current tour. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Lil Wayne Photo: MTV News Fans who haven’t gotten a ticket to Lil Wayne’s I Am Still Music Tour will still get a chance to see Weezy on the big stage after all. While backstage at his New Orleans show last week Weezy revealed to MTV News that he has been filming select dates and will compile the footage into a tour documentary similar to Jay-Z’s 2000 film, Backstage, and Russell Simmons’ 1995 doc The Show. “I just felt like a movie like that hasn’t come out in so long,” Weezy said. “At that time when they put those movies out, we as the fans were interested in what they were doing on the road. … Nobody hasn’t came around since then that was that interesting other than Young Money.” The I Am Still Music Tour , which kicked off on March 16, has already made key stops in New York and Miami, and will conclude on May 1 at the Bamboozle festival in East Rutherford, New Jersey. A source close to the Young Money camp also confirmed that DJ Scoob Doo has been shooting behind-the-scenes footage, and several cameras have been set up to film at different tour dates. While there is no word whether the film will be a theatrical release or a straight-to-DVD offering, Tunechi is confident that it will be impactful. “It’s going to be real major; it’s going to be real big,” he said. “I will eat real nice.” Related Photos Lil Wayne Returns To Glory With I Am Still Music Tour Lil Wayne Brings ‘I Am Still Music’ Tour Home To New Orleans Related Artists Lil Wayne

Tina Fey was also on hand to accept the Outstanding Individual Episode award for ’30 Rock.’ By Jocelyn Vena Ricky Martin at the GLAAD Awards on Saturday Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/ WireImage Tina Fey, “True Blood” star Denis O’Hare and Patrick Wilson are just of few of the celebrities who gathered at the 22nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards , hosted by Bravo’s Andy Cohen on Saturday in New York. The awards honor “fair, accurate and inclusive representations” of the LGBT community in television and journalism. Big winners of the night included “True Blood,” which won for Outstanding Drama Series, and “30 Rock,” which won for Outstanding Individual Episode (in a series without a regular LGBT character) for its “Klaus & Greta” episode. Entrepreneur Russell Simmons was honored with the Excellence in Media Award. Ricky Martin took home the Vito Russo Award, which is presented to a “lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender media professional who has made a significant difference in promoting equality for the LGBT community.” In his speech, Martin credited GLAAD for helping him cope in the wake of his public coming out last year on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” He then went on to push for Latin American gay rights and asked that GLAAD stand up for those who can’t in that community. “I just want to be free. I can say today I’m free,” he said at the event. “And for that I definitely need to thank my parents for being so supportive, my mother and my dad for their unconditional love, and my friends, my family, my fans. And my partner in crime and my boyfriend Carlos.” That was only the beginning of the accolades for those projects and people nominated, with additional GLAAD awards scheduled to be handed out in Los Angeles on April 10 and in San Francisco on May 14. Do you know where the kid are?

Original post:

If not, it could cost you in Jonesboro. The Jonesboro city council unanimously approved a curfew for teenagers,16-years old and younger, which will make parents accountable. The curfew applies after 11 pm to kids out without adult supervision. The city’s municipal court judge has yet to determine the amount of the fine. Jonesboro Mayor, Luther Maddox says police have been getting more complaints about teenagers walking the streets at “all hours of the night.” Maddox believes this curfew will help limit teen late-night activity as spring approaches and night temperatures go up.  By the way, there is a state curfew. Under the state law, if a child violates curfew, police will take them to a juvenile facility and the parents would be called to get them. The Jonesboro law will require parents pay a fine as well.

A Lil Positivity: Uncle BDR Becomes Muslim For A Day To Teach Tolerance

Russell Simmons did his peaceful Hip-Hop guru thing on Sunday as part of a rally against an upcoming Congressional hearing that he and others say would basically study terrorism and Islam as one and the same. Some 300 people gathered in Times Square on Sunday to speak out against a planned congressional hearing on Muslim terrorism, criticizing it as xenophobic and saying that singling out Muslims, rather than extremists, is unfair. Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and the imam who had led an effort to build an Islamic center near the World Trade Center site were among those who addressed the crowd. “Our real enemy is not Islam or Muslims,” said the imam, Feisal Abdul Rauf. “The enemy is extremism and radicalism and radical ideology.” The chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Peter King, has said that affiliates of al-Qaeda are radicalizing some American Muslims. He’s planned hearings starting Thursday on the threat he says they pose. King, a Republican from New York’s Long Island, told CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday that he sees an international movement with elements in the United States of Muslims becoming more radical and identifying with terrorists. Speakers at the cold and drizzly Times Square rally said King was targeting Muslims unfairly. “American Muslims are as fully American as any other faith community,” said Rabbi Marc Schneier, founder of The Foundation for Ethnic Understanding. Singling out Muslim Americans “as the source of homegrown terrorism” is an injustice, he said. Democratic Congressman Andre Carson of Indiana, one of two Muslims in Congress, said he wanted to say “to the Peter Kings of the world: We will not take your xenophobic behavior.” Imam Shamsi Ali, the leader of the Islamic Cultural Center on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, said, “We are here today because we love this country. We are here today because we want to see America remain the most powerful and the most beautiful country in the world.” Simmons promised “to make sure that this rally is taken to the next generation and to a new age” by enlisting entertainers and sports figures to tweet about it, including Kim Kardashian, who tweeted Sunday that she stood with Simmons in “promoting love and compassion.” A smaller group rallied a few blocks away in support of King’s hearings. Which side of this debate are you on? Is it time to stop linking terrorism in America to Muslim Americans? Source

Mariah Carey Says She Was ‘Naive’ About Performing For Gadhafi

‘I feel horrible and embarrassed to have participated in this mess,’ singer says about 2009 concert funded by the Libyan dictator. By Aly Semigran Mariah Carey (file) Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Mariah Carey wants to make things right after accepting $1 million to perform for family members of Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi at a 2009 New Year’s party in St. Barts. The singer released a statement regarding the performance that reads: “I was naive and unaware of who I was booked to perform for. I feel horrible and embarrassed to have participated in this mess. Going forward, this is a lesson for all artists to learn from. We need to be more aware and take more responsibility regardless of who books our shows. Ultimately we as artists are to be held accountable.” Carey, 41, who is expecting twins with husband Nick Cannon , told Showbiz411.com that after the birth of her children, she plans to record a new song called “Save the Day,” the proceeds of which will go entirely to human rights charities. But Carey isn’t the only artist with regrets about performing for and receiving money from the Gaddafi family. In February, Nelly Furtado tweeted, “In 2007, I received 1million$ from the Qaddafi clan to perform a 45 min. show for guests at a hotel in Italy. I am going to donate the $.” Following suit, on Wednesday, Beyonc

A “Lil Positivity”: D. Wade Loves The Kids Too

Bron Bron wasn’t the only Miami Heat who took advantage of all the money in L.A. during All-Star Weekend to raise awareness to a good cause . As a matter of fact, Dwayne Wade raised money for two kids causes out in Los Angeles. On Thursday, February 18, Dwyane hosted 50 female athletes from the Manual Arts High School to unveil a brand new basketball court that he refurbished through his foundation, the Wade’s World Foundation. He was joined by WNBA superstar Tina Thompson of the LA Sparks. A separate, larger gymnasium, reserved primarily for the male athletes, is currently undergoing its own renovations. To “level the playing field” Dwyane felt compelled to assist with an overhaul of the girl’s gym, which included the installation of new flooring, backboards, scoreboards, and lighting. Along with Frank Marshall of the Kennedy Marshall Company, Dwyane and his Wade’s World Foundation raised money for the local non-profit, MLA Partner Schools, an organization working to improve the education, health and social outcomes for thousands of youth in South L.A. The luncheon was emceed by actress and TV personality Sherri Shepherd and featured performances by John Legend. Guests in attendance included producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Russell Simmons, Alonzo Mourning, Jordin Sparks, Gabrielle Union, Fabolous, Mark Harmon, Michael Strahan, Shaun Robinson and NY Giants player Justin Tuck.
