Former Prison Break star Wentworth Miller has broken some very personal news about himself: He’s gay. The actor made this public reveal while simultaneously taken a stance against Russia’s anti-homosexual legislation , which bans any sort of “propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations.” In response to an invitation to attend the St. Petersburg International Film Festival, Miller wrote a letter that has been posted on the GLADD website and which reads: “Thank you for your kind invitation. As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes. However, as a gay man, I must decline.” He continued: “I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government. The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly. “If circumstances improve, I’ll be free to make a different choice.” The anti-gay law in Russia is creating a number of issues for that country, which is preparing to host the Winter Olympics. Earlier this month, a Russian reporter came out on air… and was promptly fired. And earlier this week, two Russian females kissed on the medal stand of the World Athletics Championships, seemingly sending a message to their government.
