Kimmy Cakes Big Day: No Cellphones Allowed, Metal Detectors And Exclusive Photos To Sell For $1.5 Milli

Kimmy Cakes is set to wed Kris Humphries today and we couldn’t care less be more thrilled. Tents have been erected and preparation is well underway for the event which will be held at 6pm at a Montecito estate. We already know this will be the wedding of every woman’s dreams (except the groom SMH) especially because instead of paying thousands of dollars, Kim will be making lots of money from her wedding, between the sales of the photos and the money E! is giving her to film. According to TMZ reports : People magazine won the bidding war for exclusive wedding day photos, says The Hollywood Reporter, to the tune of $1.5 MILLION. The trade says Kim and hubby-to-be Kris Humphries also raked in $300,000 for the engagement announcement back in May and $100,000 from OK! mag for bridal shower pics. While People Magazine has dibs on the photos, you already know the E! network is going to be filming everything, and to prevent photos and footage from getting out we hear Kimmy Cakes is going to extreme measures to keep it all under wraps: A source tells Us Weekly that no one is allowed to have cell phones, and there will be “metal detectors and body scanners” to make sure the rules are followed! Kim doesn’t want anyone seeing that dress before she’s ready! Speaking of the dress, Vera Wang reportedly designed three different gowns for Kim and doesn’t even know which she’s picked yet, but Kim has been talking a little about her inspiration for the design, crediting her childhood friend Nicole Richie for influencing her decision: “I had this one vision of what I wanted this dress to look like,” Kim told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS radio show, “Nicole Richie called me and said, “Oh my god, I have this vision for your gown. Just hear me out! I think you should go super classic, really old Hollywood! You can’t go with something trendy, you can’t show off too much”. “So she came over and was drawing out all these [dresses]. It completely changed what I thought I was going with. It’s timeless.” She went on to say she changed her mind several times during the wedding design process. Must be nice… Do you think Kimmy Cakes is a Bridezilla??? Keep reading for Kris Jenner and Khloe’s special messages to Kim on her big day.

Jay-Z And Kanye West Set To Break Coldplay iTunes Record

Watch the Throne surpasses Viva la Vida as digital first-week sales king. By Rob Markman Jay-Z and Kanye West Photo: Getty Images There should be some interesting conversation this week between Jay-Z and his buddy Chris Martin. Billboard is reporting that when the sales numbers for Watch the Throne are released Wednesday, Hov and Kanye West will break Coldplay’s U.S. one-week sales record on iTunes. Billboard learned through its sources that the album — which was exclusively available through iTunes from its release on August 8 to August 11 — sold approximately 290,000 units through Sunday. That’s 8,000 more digital copies than Coldplay slung when they dropped their 2008 album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. On Friday, Throne was released to physical retailers, and when the first-week digital and physical sales are tallied together, it is a safe bet Jigga and Yeezy will land the #1 spot on the Billboard albums chart. See what fans thought of the Watch the Throne pop-up store, which appeared in NYC last week. When MTV News interviewed a panel of hip-hop experts last week, estimations of Jay and Kanye’s sales varied. Vibe editorial director Datwon Thomas guessed the Throne would sell 500,000, while Hot 97 DJ Kast One thought the album would push up to 400,000 copies. Predicting the final first-week sales number for Watch the Throne isn’t easy, though. While most albums traditionally drop on a Tuesday, WTT was released on a Monday, and its four-day iTunes exclusivity further complicated matters. By the time the physical CD was released on Friday, it was difficult to judge how buyers would react. While the album was originally predicted to sell just north of 500,000 copies, now that number is looking like it will fall anywhere between 410,000 and 450,000. What do you think Watch the Throne will sell in its first week? Tell us in the comments! ‘Dirty Dancing’ Remake A ‘Big Challenge,’ Director Says

‘I hope we can bring something unique and original to help change the naysayers’ minds about the film,’ Kenny Ortega tells ‘The Insider.’ By Terri Schwartz Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey in the 1987 classic “Dirty Dancing” Photo: Getty Images Kenny Ortega has been tasked with remaking the 1987 classic “Dirty Dancing,” and he knows you aren’t happy about it. The announcement earlier this week was met with seemingly universal backlash, especially in MTV News’ comment section. Commenter lisha.16 lashed out against Hollywood’s continued dependence on remakes, while Valerie Anne Devine pointed out that “Dirty Dancing” is “not broken therefore does not require a makeover.” In an interview with “The Insider,” Ortega said he was initially in the same boat. “Saying yes to this project was a really tough decision for me, and one that I wrestled with for a long time,” said the “This Is It” director, who was a choreographer on the original “Dirty Dancing.” “I had to be won over too.” So far, there’s no script or casting ideas set, just the idea to remake the movie first made famous by Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. But “Dirty Dancing” is no stranger to reinvention. The movie inspired a successful Broadway musical as well as the 2004 box-office flop “Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights.” Ortega said his first step in creating this remake is to not try to top anything the original movie did. “We have a big challenge and a long road ahead of us,” Ortega said. “All I can say is that I hope we can bring something unique and original to help change the naysayers’ minds about the film.” That starts with not trying to find a way to replace Swayze and Grey. “They’re one of a kind, and they deserve to be called that,” he said. Ortega said he has been impressed with “So You Think You Can Dance” finalist Melanie Moore’s skills and told her live on the air that she has a role waiting for her in the film if she wants it. He also said that he would love to find a role for Grey in the remake if she’d want to be part of it. As for who should play male lead Johnny Castle, MTV’s Hollywood Crush blog suggested Ryan Gosling could be a pretty good choice. Ortega is no stranger to fans rebelling against remakes of ’80s dance flicks. He was originally attached to direct the upcoming “Footloose” remake before dropping out because he didn’t like the tone Paramount wanted for their modernized take. It will be interesting to see whether Ortega’s “Dirty Dancing” also gets updated to the present day with current popular dancing or if it maintains the 1960s setting and styles that the original had. Will Watch The Throne Top Half A Million?

Jay-Z and Kanye West’s collaboration is getting some big first-week estimates from the experts. By Rob Markman Jay-Z and Kanye West Photo: Getty Images There is little doubt that when Watch the Throne debuts on the Billboard albums chart next week, Jay-Z and Kanye West will snag the #1 spot. The real question is: How much will the superstar duo actually sell when the smoke clears and the first-week retail registers are tallied? “I’m gonna say, ladies and gentlemen: 450,000,” Shade 45’s DJ Wonder said on Wednesday’s “RapFix Live.” Statik Selektah and Hot 97’s DJ Kast One predicted similar numbers. Kast guessed the duo would sell anywhere from 350,000 to 400,000 thousand copies of their new LP, while Statik, who spins on Shade 45’s “Showoff Radio” show on Thursday nights, thought the Throne would hit the 500,000 sales mark and earn themselves a gold plaque in the first week. Get a sneak peek of the Throne’s “Otis” video, and tune in to MTV, MTV2, mtvU, MTV.com or BET at 8:56 p.m. ET/PT to watch the world premiere. On Monday, the day of Watch the Throne ‘s exclusive iTunes release, Billboard.biz predicted that the mega-collaboration would sell anywhere between 400,000 and 500,000 units. But the very next day, the site reported that based on the first day of sales, WTT was projected to go upwards of 500,000 in week one. Estimates may be adjusted again once the physical copy of the album is released to retailers on Friday, but as of now, Vibe editorial director Datwon Thomas’ guess is on pace with current projections. “I’m going just north of half-a-mil, only because of the fact that they’re coming out so unorthodox,” he said of Watch the Throne ‘s rollout , which as of now has produced no crossover single, just the boom-bap affair, “Otis.” “I don’t know if Middle America has latched onto the concept of just throwing out a hot record that can just carry through urban areas and not lift off with the traditional hook that they’re used to from a Jay or Kanye.” Some wondered if superstars like Hov and Yeezy were actually capable of selling a million copies in one week. Rap Radar founder and Respect magazine editor in chief Elliot Wilson didn’t rule out the romanticized sales figure, though he feels it may be unobtainable at this point. “I think they’d love to sell a million records in the first week and show that you could still do something like that,” he said. “I think it’s possible. Is it probable? Probably not, but I think it will do big-boy numbers first week. I think it will do at least 400k or something like that.” What do the critics think of Watch the Throne ? No one has ever entertained the thought that Watch the Throne could tank. Even though fans had only heard two songs leading up to the album’s drop (“H.A.M.” and “Otis”), Jay-Z and Kanye’s respective legacies were enough to ensure the Throne’s sales success. The real question was whether it would meet critical expectations. “I don’t think [Kanye and Jay] really care what the sales look like,” Wilson said. “I think it’s more about people saying the album’s dope and the peer group props that come with it, and the influence and the impact and the fact that, ‘Damn we really did do it. We really did get it out there. Now we’re gonna go on tour, and it’s a celebration.’ ” What are you expecting from the “Otis” video? Join the conversation on Twitter with the hashtag #MTVOtis. Eminem And Royce Weren’t ‘Focused’ On Hitting #1 — But They Did

‘I knew it had the potential,’ Royce Da 5’9″ tells MTV News after Bad Meets Evil’s Hell: The Sequel tops Billboard albums chart. By Rob Markman Royce Da 5’9″ and Eminem Photo: MTV News Eminem should be used to the #1 spot by now, but it’s all new to partner-in-rhyme Royce Da 5’9″. On Wednesday, Em and Royce’s Bad Meets Evil EP , Hell: The Sequel, topped the Billboard albums chart, selling almost 171,000 copies in its first week, making it Nickel Nine’s first time in the top spot. “You know I ain’t never sold no records,” Royce said to MTV News, laughing. “I knew it had the potential. I just really was more focused on the whole ‘critically acclaimed’ thing, and I think we achieved that. I’m only hearing good things about how people feel about the album.” From the onset, both Royce and Em stated that Hell: The Sequel wasn’t made with commercial aspirations. Instead, the duo — who first released an independent single (featuring “Scary Movies,” ‘Nuthin’ to Do” and “I’m King”) in 1999 — looked to rekindle the lyrical chemistry that they harnessed 12 years ago. “I think it’s great for an artist of Eminem’s stature to do a project like this, especially with a dude like me,” Royce reinforced. “And to only focus on lyrics and not worry about performance or radio or nothing like that. To go in there spitting, I think, is refreshing to hip-hop.” Though radio wasn’t the goal, Royce remains optimistic that the EP’s next single, “Lighters,” which features Bruno Mars, will ensure the continued success of Hell: The Sequel. “I definitely think that ‘Lighters’ is gonna be the record that is gonna carry the sales into something even bigger than what the first week was. Because of a record like ‘Lighters’ and what it’s doing on radio right now, the first-week sales aren’t even an indicator of where we’re going to end up after we close up with this project,” he said.
