In case you somehow haven’t heard, arts and crafts retail chain Hobby Lobby was at the heart of a controversial Supreme Court decision earlier this week. Millions are outraged that the Oklahoma-based business has been permitted to cite a religious exemption from the national healthcare requirement that they provide coverage for contraceptives. Hobby Lobby Ruling: What Does It Mean? Now it seems the company may have been involved in even more scandalous practices motivated by its executives’ religious principles: Bill Gothard is a minister and home schooling advocate whose adherents include Sarah Palin and the Duggar family, stars of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting. Gothard was recently ousted as head of his own church following allegations that he harassed and molested several of his female employees. Today it’s been revealed that Gothard and the controversial fundamentalist organization he founded were funded in large part by Hobby Lobby. Gothard and the Institute in Basic Life Principles that he ran for several decades reportedly received hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and real estate from Hobby Lobby CEO David Green and his family. The Institute in Basic Life Principles was a source of controversy even before Gothard’s sex scandal, as Gothard and his fellow ministers espoused far-right fundamentalist ideas that proved too radical for many evangelicals. The deeply religious Duggars have been called TV’s most powerful family, and one of Gothard’s victims has publicly urged them to break from the disgraced minister’s institute. Levi Johnston is sick of Bristol Palin (remember when they were a thing/!) and the fact that she absconded with their kid, moving him from Alaska to Arizona. Hilariously, he wants her held in contempt of court as a result. Levi just filed legal documents asking a judge order Bristol Palin , who’s currently going to school in Arizona, to return their son Tripp to Alaska immediately. He says all he got was a text saying she was moving out of state. In their custody battle, Levi Johnson claims both were ordered to keep Tripp, now five years old, in their home state unless they both agreed he could travel. Palin sources roll their eyes, claiming Levi’s just starting drama. Johnston dated Palin in high school, then they pretended to get engaged when he got her pregnant and her mom was named the GOP’s V.P. candidate. They split up shortly after the 2008 presidential election. In the ensuing years, they frequently sparred over their son and battled to see which one of them could milk their 15 minutes of fame more shamelessly. All the while, Tripp has lived predominantly with Bristol. For her part, she called Levi out last year for not paying child support, and he’s known forever that Sarah Palin’s daughter is going to school in Arizona. Also, Levi, who married Sunny Oglesby and has another kid (Breeze Beretta), rarely sees Tripp anyway, so him complaining about this is just ridiculous. They won’t let Snoop do his thug-thizzle. Women Organization Tries To Stop Snoop Lion’s Performance A women’s rights group in Australia is trying to stop Snoop’s paper. We’re sure he’ll smoke a pound of sticky icky to ease the stress. According to Rolling Out: Apparently, not everyone loves Snoop. The charismatic rapper has faced protest by a women’s organization called, Collective Shout that was hoping to stop his scheduled touring of Australia because they say his music “glorifies violence against women.” The group went so far as to try to have his work/visa permit revoked and deny his entry into the country, though those efforts were eventually shot down by a judge. Now that Snoop has gotten the okay to perform down under, he will continue with his plans of co-headlining the Big Day Out Festival with planned dates in the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, and Perth. Sarah Palin has already expressed her view on the Phil Robertson scandal that has rocked television’s top-rated reality show. Soon after A&E suspended the Duck Dynasty star, Palin Tweeted that Robertson simply expressed his “personal opinion” and his rights to free speech were being impinged on. That’s a commonly misguided point of view, considering the First Amendment has nothing to do with one suffering professional consequences for one’s words or actions. But Palin went On the Record With Greta Susteren this week and admitted she hasn’t actually read Robertson’s fiery comments regarding homosexuality. Sarah Palin Responds to Phil Robertson Scandal “I haven’t read the article. I don’t know exactly how he said it,” Palin told the host. “What he was doing was in response to a question about a lifestyle he disagrees with, and yet he has said over and over again he doesn’t hate the person engaging in the lifestyle he disagrees with, but in response he was quoting the gospel. “So people who are so insulted and offended by what he said evidently are offended by what he was quoting in the gospel.” Robertson has since added that he’s “not a hater” and that he loves “all humanity.” But he’s also refused to apologize for classifying homosexuality as a sin, ranking “sexual immorality” as number-one on his biblical list of no-no’s. Ironically, Britsol Palin – who had sex and a child out of wedlock – agrees, recently saying A&E’s suspension of Robertson “flies in the face of what makes America great” and referring to the LGBT community as “hypocritical” for its backlash against the star.
