P. Diddy Demands to Appear in a SNL Sketch This Weekend

Or Diddy Dirty Money? — has taken to the social networking site to voice his displeasure with the fact that NBC hasn’t asked him to appear in a sketch during the Robert De Niro-hosted Saturday Night Live this weekend. Get ready for a torrent of capital letters, friends!

Why It’s Time For Fred Armisen to Hand Over SNL’s Obama to Jay Pharoah

Last week, the news broke that President Obama split his lip playing a pickup game of basketball. My thoughts immediately began to drift toward the parody Saturday Night Live would no doubt have done this past weekend — and which I presume remains imminent after the show’s week off. Then I remembered, Oh yeah: It’s still Fred Armisen doing Obama and not Jay Pharoah. Never mind.

Saturday Night Live’s New Black Cast Member Won’t Wrest Obama Duty From Fred Armisen

One more year! One more year! According to the New York Times , Fred Armisen will retain his status as in-house Barack Obama imitator on Saturday Night Live this season, despite the presence of newly hired African-American comedian (and possibly superior Obama impersonator) Jay Pharoah . Below, compare the two impressions and also find out which former cast member will host the season premiere on Sept. 25.

Jenny Slate Is Lowered onto the SNL Chopping Block

Casting changes are apparently not yet complete for Saturday Night Live ‘s 36th season, alleges Deadline this morning. The cast member whose fate hangs in the balance is reportedly Jenny Slate, the Brooklyn comedian who was responsible for her Hoda Kotb impression, original Tina-Tina Cheneuse sketches and accidental use of an expletive during her first season. Second-generation cast member Abby Elliott is supposedly being asked to return for another season after her fate hung in “serious jeopardy.” [ Deadline ]

Saturday Night Live May Finally Hire Another Black Person

If you’re keeping score at home — and you probably are — it has been seven years since Saturday Night Live hired a new African American cast member, an unhappy distinction that proved to be quite the hindrance two years ago when Keenan Thompson wasn’t up for the task of impersonating Barack Obama. As such, this may be good news for everyone (except maybe the soon-to-be former Obama impersonator, Fred Armisen): SNL may have found another black guy!

Jimmy Fallon Recalls How a Forgotten Will Ferrell Character Influenced his Late Night Performance Art

Jimmy Fallon threw one helluva party last night. You should have been there. And by there , I mean on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon ‘s blog, where the host and his writers threw a virtual viewing party of his show. But instead of just providing commentary of Jake Gyllenhaal doing karate , Jimmy performed an acoustic version of the Bee Gees’ “You Don’t Love Somebody,” fantasized about owning a chain of specialty spinach-dip restaurants and cold-called a fan on speakerphone. Oh, and then he told one behind-the-scenes Saturday Night Live anecdote that has never been heard — at least via NBC’ s live-stream — before.
