Did Betty White’s SNL Actually Trump the Lost Finale?

Add this to the list of numbers that make Sunday’s Lost finale ratings a bit underwhelming: 15 million. That is the number of viewers who watched Betty White’s episode of Saturday Night Live earlier this month when you factor in digital recorder numbers. According to preliminary figures , that would lift White over Lost ‘s epic primetime closer by nearly 2 million viewers. Lost ‘s own DVR stats are pending, but it’ll be awfully close. Like all things in life, Saturday Night Live sketches are subjective. Even so, most viewers would agree that the show’s 35th season has gone from eh (Taylor Swift and January Jones , anyone?) to actually good, thanks to some of the strongest comediennes in the business — a shame, really, since the season ends tomorrow. Still, before Alec Baldwin closes down Studio 8H, let’s remember the highlights that Lorne Michaels gave us this year.

Just this morning, he interrupted rehearsals for this weekend’s season finale (hosted by Alec Baldwin ) to confront Al Roker on the Weather Channel’s Wake Up with Al . It’s Official: Betty White Owned Saturday Night

Final ratings are in for the Betty White-hosted episode of Saturday Night Live , and they’re even better than expected: The 88-year-old brought 12.1 million viewers to the broadcast, including a 4.9 share in the coveted 18-49 demo. Yowza! Beat that, Alec. [ NYT ]

Fittingly, that will mark the fifteenth time he’s handled the duties, tying him with Steve Martin for the most in the show’s history. Kristen Wiig Auto-Croons the MacGruber Theme
