Kings Of Leon’s Caleb Followill ‘Just Trying To Get Better’

On Monday band canceled remaining U.S. tour dates, citing frontman’s ‘vocal issues and exhaustion.’ By James Montgomery The Kings of Leon’s Caleb Followill Photo: Skip Bolen/ WireImage On the same day his band announced they were canceling the remainder of their U.S. tour due to his “vocal issues and exhaustion,” Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill was in New York, where he told a TMZ cameraman he was focused on healing. “I’m just trying to get better,” Followill said while walking with his wife, model Lily Aldridge . On Monday, the Kings of Leon scrapped their tour in the wake of a disastrous Dallas show during which Followill repeatedly complained about the heat and then abruptly left the stage after announcing to the crowd at the Gexa Energy Pavilion, “I’m gonna go backstage and I’m gonna vomit. I’m gonna drink a beer and I’m gonna come back out and play three more songs.” He never reappeared, leaving his bandmates to apologize to the audience. Following the show, KOL bassist Jared Followill took to Twitter to express his frustrations, writing, “There are internal sicknesses & problems that have needed to be addressed. I can’t lie, there are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade.” Initially, the band only postponed a Saturday-night show in Houston, but citing Followill’s health, they made the decision to cancel their remaining U.S. shows, saying in a statement, “The band is devastated, but in order to give their fans the shows they deserve, they need to take this break.” The Kings are scheduled to return to the road at the end of September, with a run of shows in Canada, but when asked about future touring plans by TMZ, Followill would only say, “I don’t know. … We’ll see how it goes.” The TMZ cameraman then asked Followill how he plans to heal his voice, to which he jokingly replied, “[I] try not to do interviews.” Related Artists Kings Of Leon

Shark Week Begins With Andy Samberg’s ‘In Your Face’ Shark Officer

‘Saturday Night Live’ funnyman serves as Chief Shark Officer for Discovery Channel’s annual shark fest. By Eric Ditzian Andy Samberg Photo: MTV News It’s Shark Week , people! It’s that time of year when it’s too damn hot to go outside and we’re all too willing to embrace a shameless and brilliant marketing ploy in which Discovery Channel devotes much of its schedule to the sharp-toothed fishies and we stay glued to the TV because the whole thing honestly is freaking badass. To wit, get ready this week for documentaries called “Shark Feeding Frenzy,” “Sharkman,” “Air Jaws: Sharks of South Africa” and “Top Five Eaten Alive.” Yes, the narration will be heavy on machismo, the soundtracks will veer between horror-movie strings and staccato, annoy-your-neighbors bass lines, and the whole thing will be overseen by Andy Samberg . We’re not exactly sure why, and we’re certainly not complaining, but the “Saturday Night Live” funnyman has been appointed Discovery’s first-ever Chief Shark Officer. Tops among his awesome responsibilities, we found out during a chat with Samberg and his Lonely Islands pals this spring, is the requirement that the CSO taunt all non-CSOs. “Chief Shark Officer! In your face, other dudes!” he cracked. “We’re kind of the Chief Shark brain trust on this,” Jorma Taccone offered. “No, you guys haven’t helped me at all on this,” Samberg shot back with killer instinct. So it’s Samberg and Samberg alone guiding us through the hazards and happiness of Shark Week. Can he handle the pressure? After debuting in 1987, the weeklong block of programming was watched by almost 31 million people last year — the highest-rated shark-themed week in Discovery’s history. Samberg ain’t scared. “I’ve already been in the water with sharks,” he said of a trip to the Bahamas to shoot promotional material for the week. “Did you get to slap five with a shark?” Taccone wanted to know. “Yes, me and a shark slapped five!” Samberg replied. Are you looking forward to the Samberg-helmed Shark Week? Let us know in the comments!

Robert Pattinson Should Host ‘SNL,’ Jason Sudeikis Says

‘We got you, buddy,’ MTV Movie Awards host promises. ‘You’ll be fine.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Jason Sudeikis Photo: MTV News Fans would love to see MTV Movie Award nominee and “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson take a stab at hosting “Saturday Night Live.” Well, maybe when “SNL” castmember Jason Sudeikis hosts the Movie Awards this Sunday, he can convince the British heartthrob to come on the show next season. “I think anybody should host [‘SNL’] if it’s something they want to do. Just give it a shot!” Sudeikis told MTV News just steps away from the Gibson Amphitheatre, where the 2011 MTV Movie Awards will be taking place Sunday. “We’re certainly a safe place, a safe haven.” Sudeikis even had some encouraging words for the potential host: “We got you, buddy. You’ll be fine. Hold on to me tightly. We’ll take you through the forest of ‘SNL.’ ” As far as he can remember, Sudeikis has yet to introduce himself to Pattinson. Though he might have met him already — unless that person was actually the star of “Dexter.” “I think I met him in the evening of the Emmys, but at the after-after-afterparty,” he recalled. “So it may have been Michael C. Hall. They may have both been there. But no, it’ll be nice to see him. He’s never hosted ‘SNL.’ Him or Kristen [Stewart]. And Kristen I got to meet during the promos , but Robert I haven’t met yet.” In that promo, Sudeikis gives Stewart a haircut, but we’re not sure fans would be as comfortable watching the Movie Awards host chop off Pattinson’s famous locks. The 20th annual MTV Movie Awards air live Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. Will wizards, vampires or dream thieves steal the 2011 MTV Movie Awards ? Find out June 5, when the 20th annual show airs live at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Tune in at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT that night for the “America’s Best Dance Crew” finale and Movie Awards pre-show, loaded with live action from the red carpet, exclusive movie clips and a special edition of “After Hours.” To get into the magical movie mood, it’s Sneak Peek Week — five days of exclusives and interviews with the casts of “Fright Night,” “Horrible Bosses” and more. Lady Gaga To Perform On ‘Saturday Night Live’

Sources tell MTV News she’ll appear alongside Justin Timberlake on May 7. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Tom Briglia/ WireImage When Justin Timberlake returns to host “Saturday Night Live” next month, none other than Lady Gaga will join him as musical guest during the May 7 show. A source confirmed the booking to MTV News, though no official confirmation has come though from “SNL” reps. Gaga last appeared on the show in October 2009 in what went down as one very memorable episode. Gaga and Madonna poked fun at pop-star rivalries during the sketch “Deep House Dish,” where they had a catfight and nearly kissed. That night, Gaga performed two songs: a high-concept take on “Paparazzi” and a piano-driven performance of her dance track “LoveGame.” She later appeared in a sketch alongside Andy Samberg, when both of them wore her famous bubble dress. Being that this latest appearance comes just as Gaga is dropping her May 23 album release Born This Way, there’s a good chance she’ll perform lead singles “Born This Way” and “Judas.” Or, as she’s known to do, she might just dazzle fans with a brand-new track. This is the latest promotional appearance announced for the album, including a May 27 appearance on “Good Morning America” that will kick off the show’s summer concert series and the May 7 premiere of Gaga’s highly anticipated HBO special , which was taped at New York’s Madison Square Garden in February. She also just wrapped up work on her video for “Judas,” though no date has been set for its release. What are you expecting from Gaga’s return trip to “SNL”? Let us know in the comments!
