Justin Bieber vs. Miley Cyrus: It’s a Mustache-Off!

It’s totally on between Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus. In order to promote her appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend, the latter was a guest on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon yesterday. She talked to the host about a number of topics, eventually settling on her obsession with… mustaches?!? “I have a diamond mustache with me at all times,” she said. “I collect all kind of things with mustaches – pins and mugs and people.” That’s unusual, but who are we to judge? Except when it comes to creating a mustache war between Cyrus and Bieber, of course, as the latter also went the fake facial hair route on the red carpet of the Critics Choice Awards . Who wears this accessory better? You tell us…

Bad Movies We Love: Mahogany

“Do you know where you’re going to?” asks the theme to Diana Ross’s 1975 movie Mahogany . Well, do you? Turns out it doesn’t matter, because Mahogany doesn’t know either. Is it a fashion movie? A love story? A political thinkpiece? A treatise on how photographers are gay predators who suckle your breasts and try to kill you? The answer: All of the above! And yet, so much less. After seeing Ms. Ross on Oprah this week, we’ve had a craving for her old films, and Movieline has chosen to reexamine the nuttiest one of all. The one where she fornicates with Norman Bates.

Topher Grace Recalls His Lucky Sprain On ‘When I Was 17’

The star of ‘Take Me Home Tonight’ explains how he stumbled into acting as a teen. By Alex Chapman Topher Grace Photo: MTV News Before Topher Grace became a household name as the lovably discomfited Eric on “That ’70s Show,” he was just another teenager looking for something to do. On the upcoming episode of MTV’s “When I Was 17,” the star of “Take Me Home Tonight” (which hits theaters next week) recalls his big break, which surprisingly stemmed from a turn in his high-school play. “When I was 17, I made the varsity tennis team, and I wound up spraining my ankle twice, so I couldn’t do that that spring,” Grace mentions in the upcoming episode. The former athlete tried out for the lead role in his high school’s production of “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” a part he didn’t expect to land. “I really didn’t think I’d get it. There were some kids who were really great actors, and I still maintain that they were better actors then I am,” Grace humbly notes. Turns out, Topher’s theatrical turn would change his life as he knew it. “So the crazy thing about that play is this girl who was a friend of mine — her parents were big-time Hollywood producers. They wrote for ‘Saturday Night Live,’ they wrote ‘Wayne’s World’ and ‘Tommy Boy,’ and they came up to me after the play and said, ‘We’ll call you at some point,’ ” Grace recalls. But the actor misinterpreted the thrilling news, thinking he was being pursued to go on coffee runs instead of auditions. “I thought they needed a P.A. on one of their shows, so I said something really stupid.” Topher’s pal Gordon remembered the error, too: “He was like, ‘Yeah sure, baby. I’ll have my people call your people,’ ” Fast-forward nine months later, and the big-time producers had an opportunity for the actor that he almost couldn’t believe. “They called me and they said, ‘We’re making a sitcom about the ’70s.’ I still thought they wanted an assistant, but they said, ‘Oh no, we want you to audition.’ ” Turns out this little sitcom just happened to be the massive hit that launched Grace’s career. Don’t miss when Grace’s “Take Me Home Tonight” co-stars Anna Farris and Dan Fogler dish on their adolescent occupations in the newest episode of “When I Was 17,” premiering Saturday at 11 a.m. ET on MTV.

Britney Spears Makes Your Body Pop On Femme Fatale Teaser

Producer Dr. Luke gives fans a snippet of ‘How I Roll’ from Brit’s March 29 album. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears’ Femme Fatale Photo: Jive Judging by the snippets we’ve heard from Femme Fatale, Britney Spears is ready to dance. Late Wednesday night, Spears’ producer Dr. Luke tweeted out another tease for the track “How I Roll.” “I just might be feeling like giving u another snippet ….. maybe,” Luke wrote. “Should it be a [producers] bloodshy and avant song??? something like that,” he added before sending a link to the song. The teaser opens with Britney cooing “ooh ahh” as beats and synths kick in. Those are jumbled with handclaps before Spears begins singing lines like, “Show your knee socks/ With tequila on the rocks/ Till you make your body pop/ To the speakers.” “In my opinion, this is her strongest album ever. It’s somewhat of a departure from what she’s done. It’s more mature,” manager Larry Rudolph told MTV News about Femme Fatale, which he even likened to a Madonna classic. “It’s more of a dance record. … This really is Britney’s Ray of Light album.” Spears herself has hinted that the album will have fans dancing. “I would describe it as moody, edgy pop with A LOT of energy. I co-wrote a couple of songs. I think it’s some of the best work I have ever done. There are a few mid-tempos that could be considered ballads,” Spears said during a Twitter Q&A this month. “I have a lot of history with #MaxMartin and @TheDoctorLuke so it’s always fun to collaborate with them,” she continued. “They make such incredible music. I’m so excited and I can’t wait for you guys to hear it. I think its some of the best work I have ever done!” What do you think of what you’ve heard so far from “How I Roll”? Tell us in the comments! ‘Hall Pass’ Stars Recall Best And Worst Pickup Lines

Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis and Jenna Fischer quip about some memorable dating experiences with MTV News. By Kara Warner Jason Sudeikis and Owen Wilson in “Hall Pass” Photo: New Line Cinema Those who have seen the trailer for Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis’ new comedy, “Hall Pass,” know that in the Farrelly brothers-directed film, the duo embark upon a series of zany misadventures after obtaining “hall passes” — basically a one-week vacation/break from their marriages — from their wives. During this marital hiatus, the boys do everything they can to pick up women, oftentimes using the most outlandish and ridiculous of pickup lines. When MTV News caught up with Wilson, Sudeikis and fellow co-star Jenna Fischer recently during the film’s press day, we asked them to share their go-to lines, as well as a few they’ve used with success. “Hi, I’m Jason Sudeikis,” Wilson quipped, which prompted a witty exchange between him and the “Saturday Night Live” star. “Aw, that’s very nice of you,” Sudeikis said. “Does that work for you?” “Yeah!” Wilson exclaimed, laughing. And then Sudeikis focused a bit, seeming to put some thought into the question, only to make room for more for Wilson laughter and more back-and-forth banter between the two. “My most successful one is, ‘How much do you cost?’ ” Sudeikis joked. “And you have to use that specifically.” “Hold that for Valentine’s Day,” Wilson advised, even though Sudeikis clearly wasn’t paying attention and went on with reciting bad pickup techniques. ” ‘Are those real?’ ” Sudeikis said. ” ‘Your eyes. I’m talking about your dreams.’ ” ” ‘Are they realistic?’ ” Wilson added. Fine, fine. If they won’t take the question seriously then we won’t. Next up, a few of the best and worst pickup lines the fellow castmembers have heard over the years. “Usually women will insult me,” Sudeikis explained. ” ‘I don’t see why you’re so great.’ And then, for some reason, I find that completely alluring.” “Ok, I’m going to win you over!” Wilson added. “Ok, sit right here. Settle in for the next hour or three — here we go,” he joked. Following with the theme of insults as pickup lines, Jenna Fischer recalled a particular unsettling experience. “I had this guy come up to me at a bar when I was much younger and he had said, ‘I bet I can guess your weight and if I do, can I get a kiss?’ And I thought to myself, ‘What?! No! What woman wants to talk about her weight? What if you’re wrong? What if you’re right? I don’t care, anyway,’ ” she said. “The idea that you just approached me with the most objectified vision of me, you whittled me down to a number, was so offensive.” Needless to say, Fischer was not particularly receptive to that line. “He did not get a kiss,” she added.
