Eminem and Lil Wayne Rock ‘Saturday Night Live’

Superstars team up for “No Love” and split the stage for “Won’t Back Down” and “6’7” on holiday-themed episode. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lil Wayne and Eminem perform “No Love” on “SNL” on Dec. 18 Photo: NBC Eminem and Lil Wayne sent “Saturday Night Live” viewers into the holiday season with a double dose of hip-hop over the weekend. The rap luminaries first rocked Em’s steely Haddaway-sampling joint “No Love,” backed by a live band on a set decked out in festive holiday decorations. Both MCs kept their style casually cool: Wayne rocked a white T-shirt and black plants while Em sported a brown jacket and gray beanie. Weezy spit the first verse with his signature unhinged energy, asserting his return to the live-television circuit. Em helmed the rest of the song, nimbly dropping his lyrics with abandon. The MCs split up for the final performance, with Eminem kicking things off with the Pink-assisted cut “Won’t Back Down.” Outfitted in a black jacket and cap, Em rocked the joint with the help of a hype man, spitting bars like, “How you douche bags feel?/ Knowing you’re disposable, Summer’s Eve, Massengill.” When Em wrapped up, the Detroit MC ceded the mic to Weezy, who hopped up onstage solo for the recently released “6’7″.” The live electric guitar-laced version was a super-charged departure from the Bangladesh-crafted banger, with Wayne knocking out the lyrics with his high-powered flow and vibing with a slew of similarly amped musicians. The “SNL” appearance is the latest team-up in a long list collaborations between the Shady boss and the Young Money captain. Em guested on Weezy’s “Drop the World” from the New Orleans vet’s rock-centric album “Rebirth.” Wayne returned the favor for Em’s Recovery cut “No Love.” Other hitmakers also popped up on Saturday night’s broadcast, which was hosted by “Tron Legacy” star Jeff Bridges. Akon helped Lonely Planet bust out an ode to gettin’ it on, belting “I just had sex!” Blake Lively and Jessica Alba made cameos as comely conquests as the crew gamely sang, “I’ll never go back to the not-having-sex ways of the past.” On “The Miley Cyrus Show” skit, featured player Vanessa Bayer played a giggly, hyper version of the teen starlet, and poked fun at the “Can’t Be Tamed” singer’s much-publicized salvia bong hit . Bayer’s Cyrus explained her “five-minute drug problem,” saying, “so, what happened was, I got really high — like really high.” Veteran actor Bridges also showed off his acting chops in several skits, playing an effeminate cowboy who doles out gussied-up Christmas presents, and starring in his own prank show “Jeff’d,” in which he messes with celebrity pals like Billy Bob Thornton and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Jeff Bridges Shaves His Beard For An SNL Promo, Because Why Not?

I’ve found Saturday Night Live a tremendous bore this season, but it’s hard to beat the pure Dadaist thrill of the most random promo I’ve ever seen. Jeff Bridges shaves his beard. That’s it. That’s brilliant. Video after the jump.

Lil Wayne And Eminem: Relive The MCs’ Past ‘SNL’ Glory

Before the duo hit the ‘Saturday Night Live’ stage, we look back on the rappers’ previous guest turns. By Paul Cantor Eminem and Lil Wayne Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images Lil Wayne and Eminem are set to appear as musical guests on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend. Em and Wayne collaborated earlier this year on singles — Em on Wayne’s “Drop the World” and Wayne on Em’s “No Love” — and there’s a possibility they’ll perform both songs on the show. But this is far from either artist’s first tour of duty at Studio 8H. Here, we take a quick look back at the rappers’ past ‘SNL’ glory. September 2008 : Lil Wayne appeared one time, back in ’08, in an episode hosted by Olympian Michael Phelps. At the time, his album Tha Carter III was one of the year’s biggest sellers. Backed by the ‘SNL’ band and his Cash Money cohort (and current Young Money president) Mack Maine, Wayne performed “Got Money.” Decked out in a black leather biker jacket and violet-colored skinny jeans, Weezy ran through the song before introducing Mack, who closed the set. Wayne returned for “Lollipop,” dressed in a white V-neck T-shirt and grey jeans. He sang with a green-and-white electric guitar strapped to his torso and noodled his way through a few (out-of-key) chords toward the song’s close. October 2004 : Em’s history with ‘SNL’ stretches back to 1999, and he would continue to pop up on the sketch show over the years. In 2004, he appeared on an episode hosted by Kate Winslet. Wearing an oversize Detroit Tigers jersey, and flanked by D12 member Proof , Eminem performed the hilarious, bouncy “Just Lose It.” In a more serious moment, he also rapped “Mosh.” Dressed in all black, he passionately spit his George Bush-protest song, imploring viewers not to re-elect the U.S. president come Election Day, which was just weeks away. Then in May 2002 , Em guest-starred on an episode hosted by Kirsten Dunst, doing only one song this time, “Without Me.” The now-deceased Proof was Em’s hypeman on this stop too. Em also showed off his acting chops — his “8 Mile” was only a few months from its November release — taking part in an ‘SNL’ sketch , in which he played himself. October 2000 : In an episode hosted by Rob Lowe, Em made his first solo ‘SNL’ appearance. The Detroit MC was riding high off the success of The Marshall Mathers LP that year, and he performed two of the album’s biggest hits, “The Real Slim Shady” and “Stan.” For “Stan,” he brought along Dido, who sang the song’s hook as Em waved his hands side to side. October 1999 : Eminem turned up on ‘SNL’ for the very first time alongside his mentor Dr. Dre back in the fall of 1999, in an episode hosted by Norm Macdonald. Dre brought Marshall along for a performance of “Forgot About Dre.” In baggy jeans, backward cap and puffy, goose-down jacket, Em spit his multisyllabic flow and bounced along to the catchy Dre beat. Diddy-Dirty Money Ladies Talk ‘SNL’ Debut, Vogue Mixtape

‘We were … like, ‘Oh my God, that’s Robert De Niro!’ ladies say of sharing ‘Saturday Night Live’ episode with Hollywood veteran. By Mawuse Ziegbe Sean “Diddy” Combs onstage with Dawn Richard and Kalenna Harper Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images Diddy-Dirty Money’s long-awaited concept album, Last Train to Paris, will finally arrive in stores December 14, and the trio are about make their “Saturday Night Live” debut. But there’s one thing in particular that makes this time especially thrilling for the Dirty Money ladies, Dawn Richard and Kalenna: meeting Hollywood heavyweight Robert De Niro. “What’s crazy is that Kalenna and I are both huge Robert De Niro fans and he’s hosting, and so it’s really exciting, because it’s a time when the album is coming out December 14,” Richard told MTV News on Friday (December 3), the day before the crew is slated to rock the “SNL” stage. “We only got a week and a half left [before the album’s release]. It’s a really good time for us. Our album … just really hit the Internet airwaves, and it’s crazy because everyone’s giving us positive feedback.” Even though one of their screen idols was milling about Studio H8, the ladies resisted the urge to pounce on the Hollywood legend — for now. “We did get to speak in the hallway. We didn’t get any pictures. We didn’t want to be groupies or anything. We were inside groupies like, ‘Oh my God, that’s Robert De Niro!’ But we was just trying to get it all contained and stay pretty professional. We were moving. We were trying on clothes that day. We had rehearsal, so we wanted to get the lighting right, the sound,” Kalenna explained, adding with a laugh, “But we’ll see him tomorrow. We’re gonna jump on his back when we see him.” Aside from tackling Oscar-winning actors, the songstresses are readying for the release of the long-delayed Paris project. But judging by the album’s star-crammed lineup and creative relationship with a bevy of game-changing celebs, they’re probably not the type of broads you’d slap with the “groupie” label. “It’s kind of a payoff for us,” Richard said of the album’s release. “I know when Kalenna and I speak, we sometimes feel giddy because people like Grace Jones, Trey Songz, Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa, Usher — I mean pioneers of the game said, ‘You know what? We want to be on your album,’ ” the ex-Danity Kane star said, adding that Lil Wayne and Drake also contributed to the record. The ladies maintain that more than just being a collabo-fest, Paris is a labor of love that has been years in the making, pegging the origin of the project years before the trio’s team-up was announced . “December 14 is gonna be a really big day for us because it’s not one year of saying, ‘Oh, we’re gonna just decide to put an album together.’ It’s three years of making sure that people digested what we wanted to give them and they really appreciated the sound that was given,” Richard said. After such a long incubation period, the album deserved a stunningly fabulous introduction to the fans. The crew cooked up an exceedingly fierce “prelude” to the record by releasing a collection of sleek Paris snippets this week hosted by fashion’s go-to publication, Vogue, and features drops from sartorial superstars like Isaac Mizrahi and longtime Vogue contributor Andr

Why It’s Time For Fred Armisen to Hand Over SNL’s Obama to Jay Pharoah

Last week, the news broke that President Obama split his lip playing a pickup game of basketball. My thoughts immediately began to drift toward the parody Saturday Night Live would no doubt have done this past weekend — and which I presume remains imminent after the show’s week off. Then I remembered, Oh yeah: It’s still Fred Armisen doing Obama and not Jay Pharoah. Never mind.

SNL Scorecard: Anne Hathaway Leads a Spirited Comeback

Anne Hathaway did more than bring Saturday Night Live back to form last night — she hosted the most consistent episode from start to finish this season. Hathaway, when she hosted two years ago, was surprisingly game for just about anything, and her second stint as host — often a letdown for most hosts not names Jon Hamm — proved to be a winner. To the Scorecard!
