Can Robert De Niro Learn From These 5 SNL-Hosting Miscues?

It was announced Thursday that Robert De Niro will host Saturday Night Live on Dec. 4, and SNL fans are already nervous considering his last two outings as host. (Admittedly, the guy does look like he’s giving it his all.) But maybe the increasingly complacent Oscar-winner won’t be that bad — after all, SNL has seen far, far more challenged hosts than De Niro could ever be.

Rick Ross Responds To Young Jeezy Taunts

‘If you really have an issue, put it on the table and handle it like a G,’ Miami Don says after Jeezy dis video surfaces online. By Alvin Blanco Rick Ross Photo: Moses Robinson/ Getty Images Rick Ross and Young Jeezy and are not on the best of terms. The two heavyweight rappers, who happen to be Def Jam labelmates, have been immersed in a war of words for months now and the tension seems to be boiling over. The latest in the Ross vs. Jeezy imbroglio was triggered after video surfaced on the Net showing Young Jeezy saying sly remarks about his rival after a performance in Miami. In the footage Jeezy is seen walking the streets of MIA with an entourage in tow. Asked how he feels “about the Rick Ross thing,” the Atlanta MC sarcastically responds, “Where is your favorite rapper at? I don’t see that n—a.” Moments later, Jeezy pulls his shirt up to reveal he has a gun on his waistband. Although he never names the Miami rapper by name, it’s easy to infer the jabs are directed at Ross. The Teflon Don MC was recently in the U.K., where he visited the BBC’s Tim Westwood , and the topic of Jeezy’s rant came up. “Man, I actually got to see the footage of him walking on South Beach, down Collins Ave. and … Yeah, he played himself,” Ross said. “You gotta come across the bridge to Carol City to Lil Haiti, that’s where you get your issues. I mean, Washington Ave.? Give me a break, baby.” Ross continued, “What’s crazy about that is, as you can see on that same footage, when they asked about my name, they still don’t really have a direct answer, and that ain’t gangster at all. If you really have an issue, put it on the table and handle it like a G.” The two rappers have at times downplayed any beef between them. Rick Ross’ anthemic summer hit “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast)” name-checks Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory on its chorus. (The leader of the infamous Black Mafia Family, or BMF, Flenory is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence.) But Jeezy’s association with BMF pre-dates his rise to hip-hop prominence. And there was speculation that Ross’ track didn’t sit well with Jeezy, who in turn dropped “Death B4 Dishonor,” widely believed to be a shot at Ross. Jeezy, however, denied it was a dis track. The two MCs are no strangers to rap beef — Jeezy has previously sparred with Gucci Mane, and Ross with 50 Cent. What do you make of the tension between Jeezy and Ross? Lil Wayne To Perform With Eminem On ‘Saturday Night Live’

Other upcoming ‘SNL’ musical guests include Paul McCartney and Diddy-Dirty Money. By Gil Kaufman Lil Wayne and Eminem Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ FilmMagic Music-wise, it’s been a pretty stellar year for “Saturday Night Live,” with memorable sets from Kanye West, Kings of Leon, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Arcade Fire. But things will heat up even more in December, when the venerable weekend sketch show rounds out the year with a trio of heavy-hitting host/performer pairings. The most anticipated will be the December 18 show, which The Hollywood Reporter reported will feature five-time musical guest Eminem performing the song “No Love” alongside Lil Wayne , who will be making his second appearance on the show. As of right now, the slot will be Weezy’s first major TV performance since his release from prison earlier this month. The host that night will be “Tron Legacy” and “True Grit” star Jeff Bridges, who last hosted the show 27 years ago with his brother, fellow actor Beau Bridges, marking the longest gap between hosting duties in the show’s history. Paul Rudd will make his second tour of duty as host December 11 to promote “How Do You Know,” on a night when Paul McCartney will take the “SNL” stage for the third time. And coming up on December 4 will be third-time host Robert De Niro and Diddy-Dirty Money, appearing to promote the trio’s long-delayed Last Train to Paris disc. De Niro will be promoting “Little Fockers,” which is due December 22. This Saturday’s show will be hosted by Anne Hathaway, with musical guest Florence and the Machine. Ryan Reynolds Named People’s Sexiest Man Alive

‘Now it’s going to be, ‘Sexiest man, take out the garbage,’ actor says of how wife Scarlett Johansson will react to accolade. By Jocelyn Vena Ryan Reynolds is name People ‘s “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2010 Photo: Time Inc It’s a good week to be acting couple Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds. Johansson has been named GQ ‘s Babe of the Year and hosted “Saturday Night Live” for the third time, and Reynolds has just nabbed the coveted title of People ‘s Sexiest Man Alive . “My body naturally wants to look like Dick Van Dyke,” the “Green Lantern” star told People. “When I stop training, I turn into a skin-colored whisper. … You just have to go with the flow.” But earning the distinction of being 2010’s sexiest man apparently doesn’t have any clout on the home front with wife Johansson. “Now it’s going to be, ‘Sexiest man, take out the garbage.’ That does sound better,” Reynolds said. “The most difficult part is going to be organically working this title into a conversation with random strangers.” Reynolds joins an elite group of Hollywood hotties who have been named Sexiest, including Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Johnny Depp and Hugh Jackman. People isn’t just honoring the rugged Canadian in the issue. “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm, “Twilight” hunk Kellan Lutz, one of the Hottest MCs in the Game, Drake , “Glee” star Matthew Morrison, “True Blood” star Joe Manganiello, Justin Timberlake and Jake Gyllenhaal, just to name a few, also made the cut. Drake was also named one of GQ ‘s Men of the Year, along with James Franco, Stephen Colbert and Jeff Bridges. Kim Kardashian is set to host a special about this year’s group of men on Wednesday night (November 17). “There are so many qualities that make this year’s Sexiest Man Alive sexy,” Kardashian said . “He’s so handsome, so funny. He has the full package.” Do you agree with People ‘s selection of Ryan Reynolds for Sexiest Man Alive? Tell us in the comments. Christine O’Donnell: SNL’s first target of the season –> Bullseye

Click here to see Video http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/26/christine-odonnell-snl_n_739503.html Last night on the season premiere of “Saturday Night Live,” the cold opening mocked none other than Republican senate nominee Christine O'Donnell. Her anti-masturbation stance, former fascination with witchcraft, and conspiracy theory about mice with human brains provided more than enough material for 'SNL' to work with. ——————————————————————————— In case you missed it , here is a VERY FUNNY portrayal of O'Donnell made right here on current without staff writers & proffesional comedians. http://current.com/entertainment/comedy/92685813_how-christine-odonnell-decided-… added by: Stoneyroad

Do The Time Warp: Rocky Horror Picture Show Turns 35

In one lonely theater in Los Angeles, California on September 26th 1975, a weird little movie based on a weird little stage show opened. It got mixed reviews and people more or less stayed away. But when the Rocky Horror Picture Show began to circulate the midnight movie circuit, a genuine underground phenomenon was born — people began to dress up, talk back and throw things at the screen. And now 35 years later, it’s still in limited release. So grab your fishnets and check out the original trailer and my favorite number after the break.

Introducing the SNL Scorecard: The Good, Bad and Ugly of Saturday Night

Saturday Night Live ‘s 36th season commenced last night with alumna Amy Poehler as host — Poehler’s first time in that role, making her only the fourth former female cast member to handle hosting duties. A lot of changes were made in the offseason: Abby Elliott and Bobby Moynihan joined the main cast; Will Forte moved on and Jenny Slate wasn’t invited back; Vanessa Bayer, Paul Brittain, Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah were all added as feature players. How did the new blood fare in their first episode? Not surprisingly, they weren’t seen much (though they did get a chance to briefly wave to the camera during the opening monologue… so that’s nice). Even more importantly, was SNL any good ? Movieline busted out its fresh new SNL Scorecard (along with the patented Not-Ready-for-Prime-Time-Player Relevancy Poll) to make sense of it all.

Yes, Larry King Wants to Be Your Next Saturday Night Live Host

Saturday Night Live has been parodying Larry King poorly for years and now the 76-year-old television personality wants to get in on the action by hijacking Studio 8H for a night. In fact, King so believes that he can be the next Betty White that he skipped over the grassroots Facebook campaign and marched down to Rockefeller Center to audition in person.
