SMH !!! Florida Student Attempts To Put Hand Sanitizer In Diet Coke Via AP reports: A Florida teenager is accused of trying to poison his teacher by putting hand sanitizer in her Diet Coke. The Northwest Florida Daily News reports that the 15-year-old was arrested Tuesday and charged with poisoning his teacher’s drink. The charge is a first-degree felony. Walton County Superintendent of Schools Carlene Anderson told the paper that the teacher is fine, though she became physically ill and went to the hospital after drinking the tainted soda. Anderson says South Walton High School officials told her the boy is a prankster who didn’t intend for the teacher get sick. In addition to his arrest, the teen has been suspended from school and faces an expulsion hearing. Stay classy Florida!!

Ben Carson Says Gay People Don’t Get Extra Rights Via HufPo reports: Conservative Ben Carson let loose on gay marriage during his Saturday CPAC speech, reinforcing his belief in traditional practices. “As you know, I am not a fan of political correctness,” Carson told onlookers, drawing cheers. “I still believe that marriage is between a man and a woman.” Carson went on to add that the political world is full of “ideologues” and the only people that can stop them are the American people. While he believes gay people are entitled to their rights, Carson drew the line at “extra rights” that alter the institution of marriage. “Of course gay people should have the same rights as everyone else, but they don’t get extra rights,” Carson said. “They don’t get to redefine marriage.” Back in April 2013, Carson stepped down as commencement speaker for Johns Hopkins University’s School of Medicine after making some gay marriage comments that sparked outrage from students and faculty. “It’s a well-established, fundamental pillar of society, and no group, be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in bestiality — it doesn’t matter what they are — they don’t get to change the definition,” he said in a Fox News appearance at the time. Brianne Altice, a Utah high school teacher accused of having sex with a teenage student, pleaded not guilty in court this week to felony rape charges. Altice, 34, turned heads in court as she showed up in a figure-hugging top, slim-fitted pants and high heels … to deny the alleged sexual relationship. She is accused of first hooking up with him in a church parking lot; the boy claimed his English teacher at Davis H.S. had sex with him at least three times. The Kaysville, Utah, accuser was 16 at the time. At a preliminary hearing, he alleged that he was having problems at home, having recently moved to Utah, and would cut class to hang out with his instructor. Intimacy followed after an initial encounter in a church parking lot, he added. In November of last year, the boy reportedly admitted to the alleged affair. 8-Year-Old Pays Off Lunch Balances Of Less Fortunate Classmates An 8-year-old elementary school student with a big heart made an extraordinary gesture of kindness recently when he summoned his mom to help him raise money for other kids at his school who couldn’t pay their lunch balances. via AOL News An 8-year-old Michigan boy is warming hearts with his act of kindness for fellow students – by paying off their lunch accounts. Cayden Taipalus told WXYZ how he got the idea. “I was in lunch one day getting lunch. And a kid in front of me didn’t have enough money, and they had to put their tray down. And that made me sad, so I went home and asked my mom, what can I do to help?” And with his mom’s help, they were able to get a page on a fundraising site called FundRazr. Cayden’s initial goal was to raise enough money to pay off the lunch accounts for as many kids in his elementary school as possible. As of Sunday morning, Cayden had raised more than $1,600. On top of paying off lunch accounts, Cayden’s mom says her son hopes to put extra money into them. On Friday, Cayden’s mom told WXYZ that her son has been able to help pay for almost 300 school lunches. The school’s principal told the outlet that any student who can’t afford their lunch will still get an alternative lunch, but added he’s happy to see one of his students helping out others. Kudos to this kind-hearted little lad but aside from that…..are these schools really out here letting kids go hungry because their parents can’t pay to feed them school lunch? Kelly Blazek, a Cleveland-based PR executive and authority on local communications jobs listings, was undone by the same thing that built her up: Social media. With her ego boosted by the position she cultivated via LinkedIn and other networks, she soon became an Internet villain at the hands of someone she shunned. The irony. Blazek, for a little more back story, produced and distributed a popular email that culled job openings from online job sites and from her own contacts. She worked for 10 years building her contacts and selecting the list of people who receive the email, limiting recipients largely to those with experience. Blazek also promoted herself and the email list on social media networking sites, such as LinkedIn, where she was connected to nearly 1,000 people she knows. She’s good at what she does, and she knows it. Eventually, that inflated sense of self-importance would come back to bite her as she bought into her own hype more than and service she was providing. She bragged in speeches that she had 7,300 people on her list, building a reputation so revered that many young people felt they HAD to reach out to her. But when many newbies asked for help, she turned them down. That wasn’t the problem or newsworthy … it was the brutal way Blazek rejected them. Blazek got noticed on the web after sending a nasty response to Diana Mekota, a John Carroll University graduate moving back to the Cleveland area. Mekota asked if she could join Blazek’s LinkedIn network and receive the job listings email she held so dear. Love the sense of entitlement in your generation.” “And therefore I enjoy denying your invite, and giving you the dreaded ‘I Don’t Know’ [scribbled-out name] because it’s the truth,” she added, pouring it on. “Oh, and about your request to actually receive my Job Bank along with the 7,300 other subscribers? That’s denied, too. I suggest you join the other Job Bank in town.” “Oh wait – there isn’t one.” In response, Mekota did what many millennials do: She turned to the Internet for catharsis, posting Blazek’s response on reddit, imgur and on Facebook. The rest is history. The letter went viral, of course, because people can relate to the plight of Mekota and others like her, and Blazek’s email is so absurd it had to be shared. People on Reddit rally behind those like Mekota who get kicked when they’re down, and revel in the change to expose the Blazeks who have lost touch with reality. To her credit, she got the message, issuing an apology Tuesday that is contrite and pitch perfect. The most telling line of a seemingly sincere mea culpa: “In my harsh reply notes, I lost my perspective about how to help, and I also lost sight of kindness, which is why I started the Job Bank listings in the first place.” Lesson learned?
