A shooting has taken place at Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, California. The suspected gunman is in custody, and reports currently place the injured count at four, with one reported dead. The injured are currently being treated at UCLA Medical Center, with two victims in critical condition. Officials have apparently placed the school under lockdown, with a possible second gunman being sought. Calls came in around noon PT, reporting a man wielding several weapons firing at vehicles outside the college. Two bodies have also been found inside a Santa Monica house with one woman suffering from a bullet wound, found outside the house in a car. It is not yet clear if these incidents are related. According to witnesses, the suspect was a man dressed in black, wearing a sweatshirt with the words “Life is a Gamble” on it. A press conference is planned for 3:15 PT. Chelsey Ramer, a 17-year old member of the Poarch Creek Band of Indians, graduated on May 23 from Escambia Academy High School in Alabama – and paid the price for it. Literally. As a show of pride in her heritage, the student donned an eagle feather in her cap… which was considered a dress code violation and which resulted in a $1,000 fine. The school had passed around a contract prior to the event that said participants were not permitted to wear “extraneous items during graduation exercises unless approved by the administration.” Ramer did not sign the document, but she was told by the then-headmaster that she did not have permission for the feather. Still, she has no regrets. “It was worth it. It means a lot to me,” Ramer told a local TV station, though she did add: “I don’t think it’s fair at all. I feel like its discrimination.” Former teacher and Creek tribe member Alex Alvarez agrees. He said he was denied the chance to speak with the administration about the issue leading up to graduation, telling the Indian Country Today Media Network: “I think this is ridiculous. If they took the time to understand and respect the differences in individuals, this would have never happened. We don’t have much left as Indian people, to give a child an eagle feather as an achievement should be adhered to.”
People really aint isht… American Teacher In China Popped For Sexually Abusing Students A sicko scumbag teacher in China is making a bad name for American teachers overseas after he was recently arrested for allegedly forcing sex on multiple students of both genders. via Fox News An American teacher at a top French school in Shanghai has reportedly been detained by authorities on suspicions of sexually assaulting at least seven students. The alleged abuse by a male teacher at the Lycee Francais de Shanghai came to light after families filed formal accusations against him, claiming he forced sex on and sexually abused children of both genders, the AFP reports. The teacher was arrested last month, and Chinese police have launched an investigation. “As parents we are devastated,” one mother told AFP, declining to reveal her identity for privacy concerns. A notice sent to parents referred to “sexual assaults,” but the school has not provided additional details. The U.S. Consulate in Shanghai has declined comment. Montia Marie Parker, an 18-year old student at Hopkins High School in Minnesota, is facing felony charges for allegedly pimping out a 16-year girl with developmental issues. The cheerleader is accused of setting up a Backpage.com ad for the younger student; driving this girl to a man’s apartment for oral sex; and pocketing the $60 she made from the act. According to The Minnesota Star Tribune , the victim’s mother called the police after discovering disturbing text messages on her daughter’s phone. Parker posted photos of the girl on Backpage.com, along with her own phone number for anyone who wanted to get in contact about a meeting. Following the aforementioned oral sex incident (in which Parker deposited the $60 into her bank account), the 18-year old reportedly pretended to be the younger girl’s daughter, calling the school to get her excused and taking the girl to have sex with another client. But she refused this time. Parker has admitted to creating the Backpage ad and is fee on $50,000 bond. She is due to appear in court June 12.
A student at Central Kitsap High School in Silverdale, Washington says she was turned away from her senior prom last month due to the size of her breasts. According to Brittany Minder, she showed up for the event in a low-cut gown and was told she wasn’t permitted to come inside because it was too revealing. “In my opinion, I feel that it is because I’m bigger chested and there is more cleavage that you can see, and there’s nothing I could really do about that,” Minder told KATU. The school’s dress code permits a strapless dress of this nature… as long as cleavage, midriff and lower back areas are properly covered. “All women are not created equal, and you cannot compare a golf ball to a grapefruit. It ain’t gonna happen,” said Brittany’s mom, Kim Minder. Brittany was eventually allowed to enter the prom once she covered her boobs with a shawl. But she only stuck around for an hour because she says the look made her feel “self-conscious.” “An important night of my life was ruined, and there’s no way I can gain that experience back,” she says.

Just sad… Michigan Home School Student Commits Suicide At Former Middle School Via MLive A Dowagiac teen who shot himself in a woods near Dowagiac Middle School Monday morning has died. Dowagiac Public Safety Director Tom Atkinson identified the boy as 13-year-old Darren James Price at a news conference Monday afternoon. A school custodian spotted Price with a handgun on school grounds about 6:40 a.m., Atkinson said. He notified the principal, who tried to make contact with the teen. When Price ran into a woods near the building, the principal called police. Officers set up a perimeter around the area. Soon after that, a single gunshot was heard and the teen was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Atkinson said. Price was taken to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac where he died, Atkinson said. Atkinson said it appears Price was “acting alone.” He said the investigation is ongoing, and police are unsure if Price had plans to hurt anyone else at the school. “We may never know why this happened,” Atkinson said. The first grade teacher at Laurel Elementary School in Polk County, Florida has finally admitted that she lied for an entire year about her and her father having a terminal illness, a fib that essentially gave her months off work. School officials took Barker (above, left) at her word for a long time, permitting her to often leave early and take full days off. As part of her ruse, Barker sent the principal over 120 letters regarding the disease from which she and her dad were supposedly suffering. When finally confronted over the misdirection, Barker reportedly gave in and told bosses the truth: she had simply been at home, hanging out. The school is now trying to terminate the lying teacher, but Barker has hired an attorney to fight for her job.

Dad Shoots Son Then Himself According to The NY Daily News A Louisiana dad shot dead his teen football star son and stayed with his corpse for several days before killing himself, police believe. Cops found the bodies of Matthew Tarto, 16, and his 52-year-old father Mark in their River Ridge home on Friday. Both died from gunshot wounds to the head. Detectives think Tarto murdered the boy as he slept in his bed before turning the firearm on himself, in his living room, several days later. “This has all the earmarks of an apparent murder-suicide, and the autopsy supports that finding,” said Col. John Fortunato from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. Cops were called to search the home after Tarto’s ex-wife Lisa started to worry about not hearing from her son. The victim, Matthew Tarto, 16, in a photo with his mother, Lisa Tarto. Matthew’s teachers at John Curtis Christian School — where he was backup offensive lineman on the 2012 Class 2A state championship football team — also reported his absence to authorities. They had been unable to contact him for 10 days. Investigations are still ongoing, but it has emerged that the elder Tarto was once alleged to have abused his ex-wife. The Advocate reports that she filed for divorce in 2008 and said he repeatedly accused her of infidelity, interrogated her friends and stayed up all night arguing with her. She said he became “cruel” and “obsessive” and threatened and belittled her in front of their son. She eventually scrapped the proceedings and the couple got back together. But in 2010 he filed for divorce himself where he demanded custody and alimony. The divorce was granted in October 2011 and the couple finalized a custody settlement in January. Jallen Messersmith has come out as the first openly gay men’s college basketball player in the United States. The Benedictine College center told The Associated Press this week that he revealed his sexuality to coaches and teammates before this past season, opening up again Tuesday to Outsports.com. Messersmith said Jason Collins did not serve as a “buffer” for his announcement, but that “it’s awesome to have another person in my sport to come out [nationally] beforehand.” The 6’7″ shot-blocker hopes to serve as a role model to others struggling with whether or not to go public. “The big thing for me, why I wanted to do it, before the whole Jason Collins thing, is there weren’t a lot of basketball-related stories like this,” Messersmith said . “When I started coming out, I didn’t have anyone to look to for advice or to see how their story went. People can look to see what happened to me – and there are positive things going on.” Brittney Griner, the top pick in this year’s WNBA Draft, also admitted a few weeks ago that she’s a lesbian , though she says it was never a secret among coaches and teammates at Baylor. Benedictine is located in Kansas and is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church, which condemns homosexual acts. However, the university teaches that gay individuals should be treated with respect, compassion and sensitivity. Said the school in a statement yesterday: “We support Jallen as a Benedictine College student and as a member of the Raven basketball team. Obviously, it would be inappropriate for us to discuss the private lives of students. As an institution we treat all students with respect and sensitivity.”
