‘Jersey Shore’ Star Vinny Reveals His Onscreen-Hookup Secret

In new season, which kicks off tonight, Vinny tells MTV News he had to ‘drop that whole self-consciousness about being on camera.’ By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Vinny Photo: MTV News By his own admission, “Jersey Shore” star Vinny Guadagnino came into his own during the show’s Miami-based episodes, trading his initial tentativeness in front of the camera on the Seaside Heights boardwalk for a fist-pumping swagger that netted him oodles of phone numbers and hookups in South Beach clubs. That’s not to say he’s always comfortable with a camera catching his every move. As the reality star confessed when he stopped by the MTV Newsroom, there’s no getting around the awkwardness of gettin’ it in while the cameras are rolling. “How do you do more than hook up with a girl when there’s a camera in the ceiling watching you?” he laughed. Somehow, though, he’s found a way. The key, Vinny explained, is to “drop that whole self-consciousness that you have about being on camera.” Helping matters is that he’s been with the same “Jersey Shore” production crew from the beginning, and while he’s not allowed to speak with the camera guys, they’ve created a sort of wordless bond with one another. “You kind of become family with the camera crew without saying anything,” he said. “If a camera guy is filming me and I’m macking on a girl, that’s like my boy watching me.” While Vinny has gotten to a place where he can play carefree kissy-face with a club-going gal, it’s the object of his affection who’s not always cool, calm and collected with a 10-camera crew surrounding her. But ever the gentleman, Vinny does his best to put his lady friends at ease. “The hardest part is the girl — she’s not used to it,” he said. “So me being a nice guy, I kind of feel for her at times. I just try to do whatever I can to make her feel comfortable in the moment.” The new season of “Jersey Shore” premieres tonight at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. ‘Breaking Dawn,’ ‘Super 8’ Among 2011’s Most Enigmatic Movies

We dig for clues about a spate of eagerly anticipated flicks that filmmakers have shrouded in secrecy. By Eric Ditzian Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson on the set of “Breaking Dawn” Photo: Fame Pictures Sometimes at the movies, as in life and crappy relationships, there is no mystery. Just one look at the poster for the Ashton Kutcher/ Natalie Portman rom-com “No Strings Attached” tells us everything we need to know about that late-January release. Other 2011 films, however, are still shrink-wrapped in secrecy and stamped with a big fat “Huh?” The brains behind these movies have managed an impressive task in our blog post-a-minute times: keeping the public guessing. Check out five of this year’s most enigmatic projects. “Apollo 18,” March 4 Though this sci-fi found-footage flick will hit theaters just months from now, it wasn’t even on the public radar until last fall. We know the gist of the plot from the tagline (“There’s a reason we never went back to the moon”) and from established conspiracy theory lore: The fabled moon mission was not canceled but in fact was launched and encountered alien life on that big grey rock. And that’s about all we know. A viral site and social networking accounts haven’t added any pieces to the puzzle. Who’s starring, how the plot unfolds, what the tone will be — all these details remain unknown. And that’s exactly how the Weinstein Company wants it. “Super 8,” June 10 The plot of this J.J. Abrams-directed, Steven Spielberg-produced sci-fi film remains under lock and key. The story has vaguely been described as set in the 1970s and following “everyday people whose personal relationships are tested when they are thrown up against extraordinarily fantastic — and possibly otherworldly — events.” Helpful! A teaser trailer showcased a fiery train crash in the wake of the closing of Area 51, the purported locus of government-backed alien experimentation. Post-crash, some kind of ultra-strong creature tries to bust out of a cargo hold. These visual crumbs are all we have to go on for now. “Paranormal Activity 3,” October 21 Last October, we knew barely anything about the follow-up to out-of-nowhere horror hit “Paranormal Activity.” The sequel went on to gross $40 million in its opening weekend. Expect Paramount to follow that same marketing formula for the third go-’round. Franchise creator Oren Peli and “PA 2” director Tod Williams have danced around story lines in interviews with MTV News, but don’t expect any hard answers until screenings begin just days before the film opens to the public. “Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” November 18 What, you say, everyone on your block knows how the “Twilight” saga ends? Well, sure, we know the plot. But do we know where “Part 1” will end and “Part 2” pick up? Do we know which characters some of the fresh franchise faces will be playing ? Do we know how director Bill Condon will handle the famously bloody birth scene, and if it will even be in the first film? And heck, is there still a chance the movie could be released in 3-D? Questions, questions. “Project X,” November 23 Producer Todd Phillips has hired largely unknown, college-age actors for a comedy he described to us as a “fresh approach to a really f—ed up incident.” He’s also denied the film is a typical, studio-driven “party movie.” He hasn’t gone much further, though, in public discussions of “Project X.” Late last year, star Miles Teller dished us a bit of info when he spoke to MTV News about his role. “I play a kid who graduated from the high school the year before, kind of like the cool guy, cool dude on campus and brings a level of excitement and energy and other party favors to the party,” he said. Is Teller the guy who contributes to the “f—ed up incident,” in much the same way Zach Galifianakis catalyzed “The Hangover” with some secretly delivered roofies? Is it messed up to say we hope so? Which of these mostly under-wraps movies are you most looking forward to? Tell us in the comments! Related Photos On The Set Of ‘Breaking Dawn’ Meet The Cast Of ‘Breaking Dawn’

‘Jersey Shore’ Newcomer Deena Is ‘Like An Energizer Bunny’

‘Me and Angelina have no similarities at all,’ Snooki’s BFF says of replacing ex-housemate when new season kicks off on Thursday. By Eric Ditzian Deena Nicole Cortese Photo: Marc Stamas/ Getty Images “Jersey Shore” newcomer Deena Nicole Cortese recently told us she brings “a lot of positive energy to the show.” That’s at least partly true, if the first episode of the new season is any indication of what’s to come as the cast returns from a Miami Beach sojourn. The pint-size Jersey native brings the party from the moment she steps into the Seaside Heights house, declaring, alongside gal pal Snooki, “Party’s here!” We won’t say what happens next, except that there’s a whole lot of positive energy, followed by a seriously negative roomie vs. roomie blowout. But whether she’s kicking back in the rooftop hot tub or hurling insults at fellow castmates, there’s no doubt Deena is one heck of an entertaining addition to the hit reality show, which debuts Thursday at 10 p.m. ET . “I’m like an Energizer Bunny, and you never know what you’re going to get. It’s great,” Deena told MTV News. “I’m very kindhearted and I’m like a kid at heart. That’s just me. I love life and I show how much I love life. I’m just being myself.” And being herself, Deena maintains, means being nothing like ex-castmember Angelina Pivarnick (even if they’re both trained dental hygienists). “Me and Angelina have no similarities at all,” Deena said. “We’re very different. We’re completely opposite, like oil and vinegar. I’m very positive. There are ups and downs in the house, but I don’t provoke things. I just like everything to be a good time. Positive energy is a blast.” The new season of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” premieres Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. Related Videos It’s The Return Of ‘Jersey Shore’!

Justin Bieber to Vanity Fair: I’m Nuts!

The Justin Bieber fans that are threatening the life of Selena Gomez? Truly insane. But the singer admits in the latest issue of Vanity Fair that he isn’t exactly stable, either. Of course, his self-proclaimed insanity is rooted in a much different cause. “I’m crazy, I’m nuts,” Justin says. “Just the way my brain works. I’m not normal… my mind is always racing. I’m just… nuts. But I think the best [musicians] probably are.” Justin Bieber – Vanity Fair Photo Shoot Elsewhere in the interview, Bieber actually compares himself to Michael Jackson, saying the King of Pop set a standard by which he judges himself. Read excerpts below and check out a bevy of photos from Justin’s spread. On being like MJ : Michael was able to reach audiences from young to old; he never limited himself. He was so broad, everybody loved him, and that’s what my goal is – to basically make people happy, to inspire them, and to have everyone root for me. On drawbacks of fame : It’s hard to really balance myself. A regular kid, if he catches the flu, he just gets to go home. But I can’t do that. On his public persona : My sanity is important. Even if I’m angry, I’ll just put a smile on my face and fake it. I don’t often fake it… what’s me is me. I know I have to give up a lot of myself, or a lot of a private life. On future scandals : I think that people are just waiting for that time when I make a mistake and they’re gonna jump on it… I know I’m not going to make a life-changing bad decision, as some people have. I’ve seen it happen too many times. I could be my own worst enemy, but I don’t want to mess this up.

The Situation on Jersey Shore Season Three: Good, Hilarious Times Ahead

The Situation got out of control bit in Miami. But with the new season of Jersey Shore set to kick off in Seaside Heights, he promises better days ahead. Hilarious, less dramatic days. “In Miami, it was a little wild,” The Situation, also known as Mike Sorrentino, admitted. “But we’re back in New Jersey now and you have that sense of being comfortable, because we’re back home . I really think this season is hilarious.” The Situation promises (moderately) better behavior this winter. Whether he was mauling grenades in nightclub bathrooms, moving in on Vinny’s girl or housing a sandwich while watching Pauly D bone, Mike was out of hand. New episodes (watch the Jersey Shore Season 3 trailer here) kick off Thursday and are focused less on sexual shenanigans and more on straightforward fun. “I’ll be honest with you, we kind of went a little crazy,” Sitch says of Season 2. “For me, [the new season] was a time that we were just into enjoying ourselves.” “There are many different little funny things. I really think it’s hilarious. As well as the new castmate ( Deena Nicole Cortese ) that’s here. She shakes things up.”

Snooki Reveals the Ultimate Hangover Cure

Drunk Snooki. That’s like saying hot Robert Pattinson . Talk about redundant. The first word is practically inherent. We know the girl hits the bottle. Hard. It’s not surprising, then, that the Jersey Shore star (real name Nicole Polizzi) knows the best way to kill that hangover after a long night of boozing. “Just keep drinking more!” she says. Who let the troll into the wine cellar? [Photo: Pacific Coast News] After ringing in New Year’s inside a ball dropping upon the Jersey Shore stomping grounds of Seaside Heights N.J., Polizzi partied with boyfriend Jionni LaValle . Decked out in diamond bling and a sparkling black dress, Polizzi danced into the wee hours, but rest assured, she is serious about her New Year’s Resolution. “I want to stick to my diet and work with my trainer,” she says. “And lose weight.” So no daytime public drunkenness arrests … well, not on weekdays anyway.

By Mawuse Ziegbe Justin Bieber on ABC’s “10 Most Fascinating People of 2010” on Thursday Photo: ABC If there’s anyone who can get the scoop from Justin Bieber , it’s Barbara Walters, and the veteran news anchor flexed her impressive ability to sniff out a scoop by getting the teen phenom to make a shocking confession: he’s chopping off his hair. During her “10 Most Fascinating People of 2010” sit-down with the Canadian sensation Thursday night, Walters asked Bieber the question that likely keeps girls around the world up at night: will Justin ever lop off those luscious locks? “I’m gonna cut it probably soon,” Bieber casually admitted, briefly fussing with those famous bangs. In addition to getting Bieber to reveal that he plans to clip his tresses, Walters gave viewers and inside look at the Pop&B star back in the day. Footage of Bieber as a musically-inclined baby shows that the YouTube sensation always had a gift for hamming it up for the camera. Bieber as a tot pounds away on a chair, belts in the bathroom, strums away on a guitar and mans the keyboard in old-school footage. Despite his outsize success, Bieber reveals that he still gets punished by his “strict” mom, who will take away the singer’s computer and phones if he’s messed up. In addition to getting into the occasional scrape, like many teen boys, Bieber is also dating, but insisted he does not have a girlfriend — despite getting caught sucking face with Jasmine Villegas in a the back seat of a car. As far as the future of Bieber fever, the teen said he wants to be a “mix between Prince and Michael Jackson.” When asked what he would name a ditty about his rise from an impoverished kid to a global megastar, Bieber offered a fairly appropriate title: “This Crazy Life.” What did you think of the Barbara Walters special? Snooki Says She Had ‘A Good Time’ Before Arrest

‘I didn’t hurt anybody,’ ‘Jersey Shore’ star jokes on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live.’ By Jocelyn Vena Snooki on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Thursday Photo: ABC Snooki doesn’t seem all that fazed by her arrest and subsequent disorderly conduct conviction after an incident that took place while “Jersey Shore” was filming its third season in Seaside Heights, New Jersey over the summer. She stopped by “Late Night With Jimmy Kimmel” on Thursday (September 23), and she laughed off the incident when it came up. “What are you gonna do? Somebody’s gotta do it [and be annoying on the beach],” she joked. “I think it was a little too overboard. Obviously I started drinking at 10 a.m. and it escalated to being wasted at 12, and that’s why I got arrested. But I had a good time doing it and I didn’t hurt anybody.” What led to Snooki getting a bit out of hand at the Shore? “I was drinking SoCo, vodka, [J
