‘Jersey Shore’ Crashes The Emmys

Host Jane Lynch plays Donatella Alberghetti Mangiana D’Borgia, a Jersey TV exec who ‘discovered’ the MTV reality stars. By Kara Warner Pauly D in a “Jersey Shore” sketch at the 2011 Emmys Photo: Fox Although we can generally expect the unexpected during awards shows, it’s safe to say that it was especially surprising to see the cast of “Jersey Shore” make an appearance at the 63rd annual Emmy Awards on Sunday night (September 18). Our favorite Seaside Heights crew popped up in a mock “state of TV news” story by Anderson Cooper. He introduced the segment, a spotlight on “prominent TV executive” Donatella Alberghetti Mangiana D’Borgia (Jane Lynch), as if it were a part of his show “Anderson Cooper 360,” and we learned the real story about how “Jersey Shore” came to be. “Thanks to me, now 50 percent of all television is set in Jersey,” Lynch as D’Borgia said, complete with a thick Jersey accent, with Cooper adding in voice over that D’Borgia is responsible for 114 different shows, one of them being “Jersey Shore,” for which she plucked “eight at-risk youths from obscurity and made them stars.” “I was already a DJ when I met her,” Pauly said. “At NPR.” “I found Vinny living in a walk-in freezer in a pizzeria,” D’Borgia revealed. “Now we get paid to drink!” Vinny chimed in with a smile. “Before I met Donatella, I was just Nicole, a Harvard undergrad,” Snooki revealed. “And now, I’m Snooki.” “She’s threatened to kill us numerous times,” Mike “The Situation” added over shots of Lynch’s character threatening the castmembers with violence. “She’s like a mother to me,” Pauly said. “Because she killed my mother.” The segment ended with footage of the crew play-fighting and D’Borgia expressing her undying love for her moneymakers. “Why do I do what I do?” Lynch as D’Borgia said to camera. “Because watching these kids is like Cirque Du Soleil. Freakin’ beautiful, just like Jersey.” Cooper finished off the piece with a stoic sign-off, calling D’Borgia and the “Jersey Shore” kiddos a “sobering look at the future of television.” Don’t miss “Jersey Shore” every Thursday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Vinny Guadagnino: Back in the Jersey Shore House!

Vinny Guadagnino has returned to Jersey Shore. His self-imposed hiatus at home on Staten Island lasted roughly 10 days, but he’s reportedly back in the mix. The reality star enjoyed dinner and drinks over the weekend in Seaside Heights with his roommates, who banded together in an attempt to woo him back . After Vinny peaced out July 4th weekend, he said he was done with Jersey Shore . Apparently he had a change of heart after dining with Snooki & Co. The cast, who just returned from filming Season 4 in Italy, was put right to work on Season 5 back in the Garden State. Tension arose early and often. Vinny left following an altercation with a cast member, the details of which have not been made public. But it sounds like that was the tip of the iceberg. Guadagnino was reportedly not happy being bossed around by MTV execs, and threatened to leave, saying he was “homesick” and feeling “burned out.” The Situation stirred up similar reports when he ripped off his mic and walked off the set last week after an altercation with his co-stars and producers. In any case, Guadagnino returned . Sitch is still MIA. Stay tuned. [Photo: Pacific Coast News]

Jersey Shore season 4 cast photo

In the shot, the cast gets all glammed-up for a late-night run through the streets of Florence, Italy, where they filmed the show starting in May. (It must have been a short stay, though. They were already back in Seaside Heights, N.J., by the end of June and hard at work at season 5.) The season begins Aug. 4 on MTV (10 p.m. ET). How do you say “brace yourself” in Italian? Jersey Shore#39;s season 4 premiere is less than a month away – and now us.com has your first look at an official cast ph

Report: The Situation Walks Off Jersey Shore Set

The wheels may be coming off the Jersey Shore money train. Last week, Vinny Guadagnino peaced out abruptly in the middle of filming, walking out of the house, heading home to Staten Island and not coming back. Now reports say The Situation has done the same. Sources say Sitch (real name Mike Sorrentino) abandoned his costars and decided to head home early: “Mike walked off the show. He’s so over the whole thing … I don’t think he’s coming back. Everyone in the house is so unhappy.” The cast returned from Italy to begin filming Season 5 of Jersey Shore where it all began in the familiar confines of a Seaside Heights, N.J. beach house. It’s unclear what sent The Situation and Vinny packing. Maybe a lack of break from filming between seasons is taking its toll? Something is amiss. What is the Jersey Shore without The Situation and Vinny? Something you would even watch? Are other cast members days away from bailing too? Stay tuned, and share your comments with us below … [Photo: WENN.com]

JWoww Accused of Attacking Tom Lippolis With Knife, Fireplace Poker in Drunken Fight

Tom Lippolis is doing everything he can to tarnish JWoww’s reputation. First, he relentlessly tried to hawk pics of JWoww nude , only to be turned aside by a court order. Now he’s accusing the Jersey Shore star of attacking him. Not a kind of standard, run-of-the-mill attack like when she beats down Sammi in Seaside Heights, either. He’s talking drunken knife-fight style! Tom alleges that on March 6, 2010, J-Woww got furious at him for taking a picture with a girl, and the argument escalated quickly and violently. “Jenni was screaming really hateful remarks,” he says . “She told me, ‘You’re a jerk and you’re an a**hole!’ We were screaming at each other.” From there, Tom says that JWoww – who’s now dating Roger Williams – grabbed a “short steak knife,” and she STABBED him in the arm! “My wounds resembled something out of one of those surgery TV shows – muscle completely cut and just hanging out of my skin,” he says. He alleges that after he cleaned himself up, he ran into JWoww once more, only to have the large-breasted one come after him again! “Jenni was holding the knife, with blood dripping off of it, in one hand and swinging a fireplace poker at me with the other,” he recalls. “I still have a hole in my elbow from where she impaled me.” Tom says when he returned from the hospital, J-Woww didn’t even apologize. As for why he didn’t call the cops after this alleged attack? “She basically told me that I made her do it,” he claims. “I should’ve gone to the police, but I wanted to guard her for some odd reason.” “I didn’t want to get her in trouble.” Anybody believe Tom Lippolis’ claims? Don’t get us wrong, JWoww coming at him with a red hot poker is something we can picture, but it seems far-fetched that it really happened.

Simon Cowell Looking For ‘Unusual People’ At ‘X Factor’ Auditions

‘I always say, you’ve got to embrace the madness,’ Cowell says of contestants. By Jocelyn Vena Simon Cowell Photo: Brian Ach/ WireImage With only days until the first official “X Factor” audition kicks off, Simon Cowell recently dished to MTV News about what he’s looking for in an “X Factor” contender. And he admits he doesn’t mind if contestants are a bit freaky. “I love unusual people. I always say, you’ve got to embrace the madness,” Cowell laughed. “I like that we’re going to be very open-minded. I think we’re going to have good enough people on this panel that we’re not gonna miss out on anyone who’s got potential.” So far, that judging panel includes famed record executive L.A. Reid , with more names to be announced soon. Mariah Carey reportedly passed on a judging opportunity, and Enrique Iglesias has been rumored to be a potential host for the show. Cowell says that with so much to gain as the winner of “X Factor,” it’s all about going big or going home. “Well, you know, there’s $5 million at stake on this show, we’re guaranteeing a winner a recording contract … so we’re looking for somebody who’s not just gonna be an artist who sells records in America,” he explained about making sure that special someone has global appeal. “We want someone who’s gonna sell all over the world,” he continued. “You look at what’s happened over the last couple of years, I think originality is key and you’ve got to be different to what’s out there already … I would say on this show, we’re much more open to people being ‘out there’ and anything goes, basically.” Audition dates for the show begin on Sunday, March 27, in Los Angeles, and continue on April 7 in Miami, April 14 in Newark, New Jersey, April 20 in Seattle, April 27 in Chicago, and May 26 in Dallas.

‘Jersey Shore’ Stars Tease A ‘Drama’-Filled Season Finale

‘There are fights, but there are good times,’ Deena says of the episode, which airs tonight at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. By Eric Ditzian, with additional reporting by Ade Mangum Deena Cortese Photo: MTV News How did this season of “Jersey Shore” go so fast? It seems like just yesterday we were embarking on a new journey in Seaside Heights, wondering if Sammi and Ronnie might actually get together, how Deena would fit in with her new roomies and whether the show’s honorary castmember — the duck phone — would be defiantly quacking away on a daily basis. And now, just like that, the season is coming to an end on Thursday (March 24) with a final, drama-filled episode. It’s like we popped into a tanning bed for a little UV-base building and woke up looking like Fozzy Bear. Not cool! At least we’ve got a new, Italian-flavored “Shore” season coming down the line soon. Until then, it’s time to get pumped for the season finale, and to that end, Deena and Vinny gave us a couple of teasers. “It’s very important to watch this episode, because it’s like watching the first one: You have to put an end to things you started,” Vinny told MTV News. “You’re going to see your basic fighting and drama, like Deena — I got into a little fight with her. You’re going to get the Ronnie and Sammi fighting. You’re going to get a lot of comedic moments as well. There are a lot of cliffhangers that still aren’t answered, and this last episode will put a button on everything.” It might be a little fight in Vinny’s eyes, but Deena called that war of words — centering on the ongoing, friends-with-suspect-benefits relationship between Vin and Snooki — the single incident on the show she wished never happened. “The least favorite moment was me fighting with Vin in the upcoming episode, just because Vin’s one of my best guy friends in the house,” she told us. “Even though I was trying to be a good friend to Snooks, it is what it is.” Oddly enough, Deena’s favorite event of the season also involved a fight, albeit one of a much more lighthearted variety. “The moment that I loved the most was the water fights and the pranks, because that really shows how close our bond in the house really was,” she said. “Although we fight sometimes, our bond will never break and we really do have a good time together.” And it’s the roommates’ togetherness, above and beyond their less glamorous moments of brawling and boozing, that the season ender ultimately highlights. “The finale is one of the best episodes. It shows drama, comedy — anything you want,” Deena said. “There are fights, but there are good times. The whole episode sums up our family.” Don’t miss the “Jersey Shore” season finale tonight at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Oscar-Nominated ‘Fighter’ Actors, Producers ‘Screaming’ Over Nods

‘They’re just as happy if the other one wins,’ producer Ryan Kavanaugh says of Amy Adams’ and Melissa Leo’s Best Supporting Actress noms. By Kara Warner Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg Photo: John Sciulli/ Getty Images While the teams behind “The Social Network” and “The King’s Speech” are toasting their Oscar noms, another group of folks is also celebrating Tuesday morning’s (January 25) Academy Award nominations announcement. The cast and crew of “The Fighter” earned seven nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director (David O. Russell), Best Supporting Actor (Christian Bale), and two Best Supporting Actress nods for (Amy Adams) and (Melissa Leo). MTV News spoke with “Fighter” producer and Relativity Media CEO Ryan Kavanaugh (Relativity fully produced and financed the film) just after he heard the big news. “When I got the news, I was on the phone with David O. Russell and [Mark] Wahlberg and myself, kinda watching and I think you could hear screaming through each house,” he said of their reactions. “The person I’m most excited for is David O. Russell because he really deserved it, he really delivered this package. He’s obviously had his ups and downs in his career, as many people have. He really came through on this movie and it’s nice that the Academy noticed that for him.” Kavanaugh’s fellow producer and the star of the film, Mark Wahlberg, also praised the director and his co-stars in a statement: “It has been such an incredible journey with ‘The Fighter’ and one that I am grateful to share with David O. Russell, Christian, Melissa, Amy, my fellow producers and the Ward and Eklund families, who are the heart and soul of the film. Thank you to the Academy for this tremendous honor.” Regarding Adams and Leo’s dual nominations in the Best Supporting Actress category, the Relativity Media CEO said the actresses won’t be thinking about competition at all. “It’s funny because I think Amy and Melissa, they’re just as happy if the other one wins,” he said. “They are competing against each other but at the same time, I think they’re both really happy for the other one.” Kavanaugh went on to say that although he’d like to go back to bed — Oscar nominations were announced at 5:30 a.m. on the West Coast — he has a long day of work and later, congratulating, to do. “I’ve got a pretty full day coming up. I’ll stop by Mark’s house, I’ll stop by David’s house, give ’em both a big hug,” he said. “[I’ll] try and stop by Christian’s house although he’s probably holed up and won’t even turn on the TV until 10 a.m.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Fighter.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . ‘Jersey Shore’ Heads To Italy For Fourth Season

MTV announced show will return for fourth season overseas. By James Montgomery The cast of “Jersey Shore” Photo: Josh Kessler/MTV They may be comfortably back in their spiritual home of Seaside Heights for the new season, but not for long! The cast of MTV’s smash hit “Jersey Shore” are poised to head to the other homeland: Italy. On Tuesday (January 25), MTV announced that not only had “Shore” been renewed for a fourth season, but that, in the upcoming season, the cast would be taking their show on the road … all the way to Italy. Production on season four is set to begin in spring 2011, and will premiere “later this year.” “While the Stateside ‘Jersey Shore’ locales have become iconic for our audience, it’s really the constantly evolving dynamic amongst the cast that keeps them coming back each season, and Europe is a fresh spin on a show that continues to reach new heights for us,” Chris Linn, MTV’s executive vice president of programming and head of production, said in a statement. “The cast is headed to the birthplace of the culture they love and live by. We can’t wait to see what erupts as a result.” It’ll probably be like Mount Vesuvius. The current season of “Jersey Shore” — featuring new castmate Deena Cortese , and a whole lot of JWoww-related drama (and Snooki cooling her backside in a mini-fridge) — premiered earlier this month to record-setting ratings and has only continued to raise the bar in recent weeks: Thursday night’s episode was MTV’s most-watched series telecast ever, with 8.9 million total viewers. Don’t miss “Jersey Shore,” airing Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.
