Retired NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, rapper Waka Flocka Flame and current NBA player Trey Burke are being sued by a man for mocking his appearance online. Jahmel Binion suffers from a disorder called hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia, which causes limited hair growth, missing teeth, and facial deformities. He posted a selfie on Instagram back in April, after which Shaq and Waka both reposted it with captions that were clearly making fun of his physical appearance. How he’s suing the trio, along with Burke, for bullying him, essentially. Once Shaq found out about Jahmel’s condition, he not only took down the post, he got in touch with Jahmel and apologized, according to reports. He tweeted about that conversation: “Made a new friend today when I called and apologized to Jahmel Binion. Great dude. #alwayslearning #MYBADCUZ.” It wasn’t enough for Jahmel, who filed a defamation suit against Shaq , Waka and Burke, who allegedly threw in his own insults over social media. The lawsuit points out that more than 8.4 million people saw the insults from the trio, and claims that Binion suffered as a result of their treatment of him. Shaquille O’Neal Mocks Man With Genetic Disorder Jahmel, 23, tells Michigan’s Macomb Daily that when the apologized, he feels “they were saying it to get the pressure off of them for being considered ‘bad people.’” In making that serious allegation, Binion notes that the trio received serious backlash on the Internet for several days prior to reaching out to him. “Even though I accept their apology,” he adds, “I hope that they donate to my cause or other organizations that connect with ectodermal dysplasia.” His attorney says the three “constituted a public disclosure of embarrassing private facts about the plaintiff” and “placed plaintiff in a false light in the public eye.” The “offensive communications” and ridiculing was done “with reckless disregard to the harm that might be caused” to Binion, the complaint says.
Rob Kardashian has been in a dark place lately. The sole male Kardashian and former sock designer made headlines for the first time in years when he skipped Kim Kardashian’s wedding seemingly to avoid negative press regarding his overweight and generally unhealthy appearance. It didn’t work. Photos of a bloated and bleary-eyed Rob spread like wildfire on the web, as did news that Kardashian is suffering from an addiction to sizzurp that may well prove deadly. No one knows for sure what may have triggered Rob’s decline, but his sister Khloe scertainly has her theories: Khloe Kardashian Blames Lamar For Rob’s Problems Discussing the matter with Brody Jenner in a a clip from the next episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians , Khloe blames her troubled relationship with Lamar Odom for sending Rob down a bad path. “Rob has said, ‘[Living with Khloe and Lamar] was so dark and it made me do dark things.'” In a voice over for the episode, Khloe says, “Only Rob and Lamar and I know what went on in that house. I’m a nurutrer and I want to protect everyone. I wasn’t there to protect Rob. I wasn’t even there to protect myself. No one can make me not feel guilty.” Khloe never mentions drugs specifically but considering Lamar struggled with crack addiction amongst other demons, it seems pretty clear that she’s blaming her brother’s addiction troubles on her ex. 24 Klassic Khloe Kardashian Quotes F-ck me with a dildo if that’s what you think. Marvel Mania explores five things we want to see in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man’ trailer. By Josh Wigler Andrew Garfield as The Amazing Spider-Man Photo: Sony Pictures Superhero fans are hard-pressed to think about anything other than “The Dark Knight Rises” right now, what with the early screening of the prologue this week, the wider release of that six-minute sequence Friday and the impending arrival of a full-length trailer. But don’t forget to look at the other side of the comic book aisle: Marvel’s got some big moves coming your way soon with a brand-new “Amazing Spider-Man” trailer, rumored to drop as early as this week. Whether we get an extended peek at Spidey’s next adventure by end of day Friday remains to be seen, but a longer look at director Marc Webb’s upcoming reboot is definitely coming our way sooner rather than later. In anticipation of that release, here are the five things we want to see from the next “Amazing Spider-Man” trailer: Another Perspective The previous “Spider-Man” trailer made a controversial choice in showing its only action scene purely from the perspective of Peter Parker . Some people enjoyed the scene; some people didn’t. Regardless, any new “Amazing Spider-Man” trailer has to show Parker in full-on web gear hitting the New York streets and kicking criminal butt. Marc Webb is an untested quantity as an action director, so showing what he’s capable of in that department will go a long way toward winning over the fanbase. When Peter Met Gwen In terms of the women in Parker’s life, “Spider-Man” moviegoers are most familiar with Mary Jane Watson, even if Gwen Stacy did have a small part to play in “Spider-Man 3.” (Yes, despite your best efforts to forget, that movie did happen.) MJ is out this time, and Gwen is taking the spotlight courtesy of Emma Stone. We saw a little bit of her in the last teaser but not much. Getting a chance to glimpse her chemistry with co-star Andrew Garfield is something we’re very much looking forward to. Bring the Funny We don’t need any more shots of Peter gazing at a far-off sunset with longing in his eyes. We got plenty of that in the last teaser. What we do need is an amped-up laugh factor. Wisecracking is just as much a part of Spidey’s skill set as wall-crawling and web-shooting, after all, and anyone who has seen Garfield act knows that he can bring the funny. Let’s just hope he brings it in the upcoming trailer. Daddy Issues That said, if there’s one somber element we do want to see in the new trailer, it’s more information on Peter’s missing parents. Webb has teased in the past that “Amazing Spider-Man” deals with the disappearance of our hero’s mom and dad early in his childhood, something that really hasn’t been explored too frequently in the greater Spidey mythology. It’s a curious choice to bring to the movie franchise, and we’re equally curious to see how it plays out. Meet the Lizard Now, we don’t need to see the entirety of Curt Connors’ monstrous transformation, but we need to see something, even if it’s just a two-second tease at the very end of the trailer. Hearing Rhys Ifans’ admittedly menacing voice over the last trailer was cool, but now it’s time for more. Any Spider-Man action will (hopefully) be good Spider-Man action, but seeing the web-slinger go toe-to-toe against the Lizard, even if it’s only for a moment, would really make this trailer “Amazing.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Amazing Spider-Man.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer wow awards show audience with medley. By Kara Warner Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone of “The Lonely Island” Photo: WireImage Just when you thought the 2011 Emmy Awards were a bit lackluster — with the “Modern Family” dominance, host Jane Lynch keeping things clean and safe, and even Charlie Sheen coming out classy — the guys from the Lonely Island rolled in to liven things up with a lively, star-studded performance of their hits “Jack Sparrow,” “3-Way (The Golden Rule)” and “I Just Had Sex,” which all were nominated for Original Song Emmy this year. The trio (Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer) — who sadly lost the Creative Arts Emmy to Justin Timberlake for his “SNL” musical monologue — kicked off their medley with a bang, beginning with “Jack Sparrow” and crooner Michael Bolton. Much like the original “SNL” Digital Short, Bolton sported a pirate costume and climbed aboard a makeshift pirate ship surrounded by gyrating dancers dressed like waves. The next song, “3-Way (The Golden Rule),” was performed by special guest stars Ed Helms, Maya Rudolph and John Stamos. Helms and Stamos rocked the familiar shiny, sleazy guy suits worn by original performers Samberg and Timberlake, while Rudolph took over the Lady Gaga-originated role (and colorful costume). The medley’s final, censor-testing number was “I Just Had Sex,” performed by Akon, who also sang the original. John Stewart later gave the Lonely Island guys a shout-out for the explicit lyrics in the song, saying he will have to explain them to his young kids. After the performance brought down the house, follow-up presenters Lea Michele and Ian Somerhalder said, “Nothing we say is going to be funny now,” as they approached the podium to present the Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Series. Host Jane Lynch plays Donatella Alberghetti Mangiana D’Borgia, a Jersey TV exec who ‘discovered’ the MTV reality stars. By Kara Warner Pauly D in a “Jersey Shore” sketch at the 2011 Emmys Photo: Fox Although we can generally expect the unexpected during awards shows, it’s safe to say that it was especially surprising to see the cast of “Jersey Shore” make an appearance at the 63rd annual Emmy Awards on Sunday night (September 18). Our favorite Seaside Heights crew popped up in a mock “state of TV news” story by Anderson Cooper. He introduced the segment, a spotlight on “prominent TV executive” Donatella Alberghetti Mangiana D’Borgia (Jane Lynch), as if it were a part of his show “Anderson Cooper 360,” and we learned the real story about how “Jersey Shore” came to be. “Thanks to me, now 50 percent of all television is set in Jersey,” Lynch as D’Borgia said, complete with a thick Jersey accent, with Cooper adding in voice over that D’Borgia is responsible for 114 different shows, one of them being “Jersey Shore,” for which she plucked “eight at-risk youths from obscurity and made them stars.” “I was already a DJ when I met her,” Pauly said. “At NPR.” “I found Vinny living in a walk-in freezer in a pizzeria,” D’Borgia revealed. “Now we get paid to drink!” Vinny chimed in with a smile. “Before I met Donatella, I was just Nicole, a Harvard undergrad,” Snooki revealed. “And now, I’m Snooki.” “She’s threatened to kill us numerous times,” Mike “The Situation” added over shots of Lynch’s character threatening the castmembers with violence. “She’s like a mother to me,” Pauly said. “Because she killed my mother.” The segment ended with footage of the crew play-fighting and D’Borgia expressing her undying love for her moneymakers. “Why do I do what I do?” Lynch as D’Borgia said to camera. “Because watching these kids is like Cirque Du Soleil. Freakin’ beautiful, just like Jersey.” Cooper finished off the piece with a stoic sign-off, calling D’Borgia and the “Jersey Shore” kiddos a “sobering look at the future of television.” Don’t miss “Jersey Shore” every Thursday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. MC tweets Pete Rock, Q-Tip and Madlib have contributed to the project. By Mawuse Ziegbe Jay-Z and Kanye West Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/ WireImage Kanye West’s forthcoming joint release with Jay-Z won’t just feature the two hip-hop heavyweights trading bars. The album is shaping up to be collaborative effort that ropes in a slew of rap voices from underground icons to chart-topping kingpins. West took to his Twitter account on Saturday (September 25) to reveal that beatmaster Pete Rock and A Tribe Called Quest frontman Q-Tip have jumped on the project. “We got new Pete Rock Joints on the Watch the Thrown album… Q Tip joints…” West tweeted . He added that the album is also set to include a musical offering from prolific, crate-digging luminary Madlib. “We bout to spit on this Madlib beat.” The Jigga/’Ye album is part of the hip-hop superstar’s newly launched campaign to get fresh music to the fans. After announcing in August that he plans to release a spankin’ new track every Friday until Christmas, West tweeted on the first day of his G.O.O.D. Friday initiative that he’s hooking up with Hov for a five-track album. The Jay-Z/Nicki Minaj/Rick Ross/Bon Iver collabo “Monster” is slated to appear on the record. The Jay-Z joint album details also come a day after Yeezy unleashed another Hov-assisted cut, “So Appalled.” West dished that the newly released G.O.O.D. Friday track, which also features Pusha T, Swizz Beatz, Cyhi the Prynce and RZA, is the weekly joint he’s feeling the most. “Ok So Appalled might be my personal favorite Good Friday song so far… It’s just my favorite style of hip hop done very modern,” West tweeted of the string-laden track, which includes the various MCs hollers of “f—in’ ridiculous ridiculous.” “Just Swizz’s voice over the cello’s is haunting,” adding that he may revisit the track and “do another version where I bring that part in right after Pusha’s verse also.” Who else would you like to see on Kanye West and Jay-Z’s joint album? MC thinking about lending his voice to the cartoon, which he is producing. By James Montgomery T.I. Photo: Brad Barket/Getty Images T.I. is still deciding on the final track list for his upcoming album King Uncaged — a rather daunting process, considering he recorded some 80 songs (including a track featuring Lady Gaga ) for the project. But that doesn’t mean he’s not working on other endeavors — like, for example, a cartoon. In an interview last week on Sirius’ Shade 45, Tip confirmed that he’s developing an animated series called “Lil Homies.” He’ll serve as a producer on the show, and he’s also considering lending his vocal talents to the project. “I’m actually working on a TV show right now as a producer,” he told Shade 45’s Angela Yee. “[It’s] a cartoon … called ‘Lil Homies.’ I may do, like, voice over [work] … like a narrator.” T.I. said that “Homies” still is without a network, but he’s pushing ahead with the series regardless, even saying that he’d use his producer clout to cast Yee as “a neighborhood freak.” If and when the series hits TV, Tip will join a long list of rappers who have crossed over to the animated world: Outkast’s Andre 3000, whose series “Class of 3000” ran on the Cartoon Network in 2006; T-Pain, who served as executive producer of (and lent his voice to) “Freaknik: The Musical” earlier this year; and Danger Mouse and MF Doom, who released an album and an EP (2005’s The Mouse and the Mask and ’06’s Occult Hymn ) that featured beats taken from Cartoon Network’s “Adult Swim” programming, and more than a few cameos by “Adult Swim” stars.
