Is a Kick-Ass Sequel Really a Good Idea?

It seems like only yesterday we were sitting around the office wondering what went wrong with Kick-Ass , the story of a downmarket superhero that did mid-market business (at best) at the box-office. But $96 million worldwide — plus whatever it has coming to it on video — is reportedly enough for a follow-up to the modestly-budgeted original. Or so its source’s author says.

This is What It’s Like to Interview Cheryl Hines About the New Season of Curb Your Enthusiasm

The season finale of Curb Your Enthusiasm left Cheryl Hines in an interesting position: Would her character rekindle a relationship with her estranged husband Larry David, or was her habit of not using a coaster too much for him to bear? When I ran into Hines at an Emmy party recently, I tried to pry her for information about how involved she’ll be in the upcoming eighth season, but as you’ll see, she had a spoiler policy even Matthew Weiner would be impressed by .

The Hills Reality Check: Finale Mind-Bender

Reality and unreality finally converged in last night’s season finale of The Hills , better known as “The Episode Where the Cast and Crew Admit Their Show Is Fake.” You heard right! If you haven’t seen the closer, “All Good Things…” then you might want to to hold off on clicking through for now… unless you’d like to finally know how much of MTV’ s six-year project was just a cruel joke on you. (Hint: If you were bored enough to watch last night’s closer, then you’ve been punk’d by Brody.)

Kim Kardashian Tweets Support of Lindsay Lohan

This is both sweet and nauseating. In the aftermath of Lindsay Lohan’s 90-day jail sentencing yesterday afternoon, Kim Kardashian has Tweeted support of her fellow promiscuous celebrity. She wrote: Sending positivity your way @LindsayLohan Love you! Everyone please send LL your sweet prayers. U never know when someone really needs it. No offense to Kim or Lindsay, but we think God has better things to do with His time than answer prayers related to an alcoholic trainwreck who will likely benefit from a stint in jail. Lohan needs some wake up call to turn around her life, doesn’t she? Two women, four huge breasts, zero talent, one jail sentence. In between sobs and lewd nail painting, Lindsay replied to Kim and Tweeted: “thank you so much @KimKardashian – thanks for being such a good friend, it means a lot to me.” Fortunately for Lohan, she’ll meet many new good friends in jail, too. Especially when she drops the soap.

Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski Break Up

Another Bachelorette couple bites the dust – and one we thought had a shot. Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski, who got engaged on the previous season finale of The Bachelorette , have called off their engagement, according to reports. This leaves Trista and Ryan Sutter as the only Bachelorette couple still together, with Jason and Molly Mesnick the lone survivors from The Bachelor side. “I love him and I’m really sad, but I have to look out for me,” Jillian Harris said. “We’re both kind of resetting,” Swiderski added. “Jillian isn’t happy and I’m definitely sad about the whole thing, but we’ve got to work through some things.” Ed says that they will do so “on our own if we decide to move forward.” Jillian and Ed called it quits. Did you see that coming? We don’t expect this to turn into a public war of words like the split between Bachelor stars Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi . But it’s still a sad situation. Last August, reports swirled about Ed Swiderski juggling two girlfriends while wooing Harris on the show (and even slept with one after proposing to her). They seemed to be fine, as the couple mostly stayed out of the spotlight, then announced their wedding plans on this past season finale of The Bachelor . But recently, things apparently took a turn for the worse. “There’s bumps on the road, and we don’t always deal with them properly,” Harris said in an interview just last month. “Our life is not always perfect.” Sorry to hear it … but call us, Jill. You can do better. As for Ed, is it too late for him to rock those ’70s-style basketball shorts on Bachelor Pad?

5 Reasons Why Tonight’s Season Finale of Party Down Should Be Its Last

The admirable selflessness of Lizzy Caplan aside, the second season finale of Party Down — airing tonight on Starz, but already available via Netflix Instant Watch — could very well be its last episode. Even if Starz’s were to pick up Party Down for a third season, how would the show work when Adam Scott — the ostensible lead — can only appear in three of the likely 10 episodes because of his new job on Parks and Recreation ? That’s like having Dexter appear on his eponymous show 30 percent of the time. So, yes: This could be the last episode ever. And guess what? That’s probably a good thing. To get you revved up for the season finale, here are five reasons why this should be the end of Party Down .
